Because one the white main character’s predicaments in the film besides his failing romantic relationship with the other main character is how he hates that jazz is being “ruined” by pop but he’s currently in a band that does that and it’s led by a black character 💀 John Legend’s character is seen as the character that’s “ruining” jazz with pop while Ryan Gosling’s character is presented as this passionate jazz connoisseur trying to keep it traditional when it’s not a white person’s place to “save” traditional jazz or determine what should and shouldn’t be done to jazz music. If we’ve only kept jazz traditional all this time and didn’t experiment with it then so many genres would not exist including r&b, rock and roll and hip hop and that’s only naming three. Also irl it’s mostly white artists sloppily melding jazz and pop together so for this movie to present the black dude as the one disrespecting jazz is itself insane.

The “fake Latil” Guesta created with black magic to seduce Tasir is a monster that tells someone their fantasy (the thing they desire or want to hear from the person they love). The fake Latil told Tasir she’s happy to see him and told him she loves him. Tasir immediately realized it’s not the real Latil because Latil isn’t the type to act like that 😅💀

That chapter is important because it’s where Tasir realizes he’s in love with Latil (:

I find it both sad and funny… sad because it reveals that Tasir wanted to hear Latil say she’s happy to see him and that she loved him, but realized it’s a fake because Latil isn’t the type to say to him. And funny because Guesta unintentionally made him realize his feelings for Latil lmao

my biggest fear is that the writer was pushed by the agency to finish it quickly. like nooooooo please T.T

It’s an understandable fear, my dear. Maybe I’m being too optimistic, but I haven’t seriously considered a scenario where the ending wasn’t planned (yet).

Although I’m not much informed about Korean agencies specifically, in general, when writers work for an editorial there’s a lot of team planning prior to launch. What I mean to imply is that Naver was probably aware of MOTH’s extension long before they decided to promote it (keep in mind that they also agreed to serialized it on a webtoon format). Sure, they could’ve realized later that MOTH wasn’t engaging as much readers as the author’s previous work and, therefore, they could’ve tried to give it an end as fast as they could. But, in that case, wouldn’t they have tried to give readers a much more encompassing, likable and definitive ending? At least, the should’ve been able to fill the “likable” category.

With the current state of things, we’re still missing critical info even about MLs:

1. We don’t know Tasir’s baby name.

2. We never saw Guesta’s baby.

3. Klein is still a temporary consort.

4. We don’t know if Ranamun’s daughter (Flora) will die young.

5. We don’t know if Sonnaught’s daughter will ever become a vampire.

6. We don’t know what happened to Girgol’s son (Sell) after he was sealed.

7. We don’t know if knowing the truth about his real father will impact Carlein’s adopted son (Kailetta).

I could go on with other blanks related to the prophecy, the awakening, Latil’s ability to read minds, Raean and Anya’s relationship, the assassination of the King of Milo in Guesta’s hands, the Count Sywillen, and countless of other things that could’ve been easily solved or never mentioned if they wanted to rush the story towards an earlier end.

So, I keep my hopes up for an upcoming work that will follow the original story, but that will also be focused in something else besides the harem. A lot of comments complained about Latil’s poor time management when it came to her husbands, so if the author wants to explore other topics, it’s not a bad idea to go for a change of title and theme.

Let’s hope for the best 🙌

I would argue that IWTV(AMC) isn't gothic because the timeline begins in the 1910s, which if I remember correctly is much later than the books or og movie which begins in 1790s, and that likely has nothing to do with the race of the characters.

But that’s still it tho. What makes the setting of this melodramatic romantic story about two vampires more goth in the 1700s than the 1900s? It still hits the same beats as the first book and covers what made it gothic in the first place. Even the fashion in the show takes inspiration from the books and movie and other goth attire like Louis’ black capelet coat with his suit in episode 2 and Lestat’s brown one with his top hat in episode 1 and the billowy white shirts they wear in the last episode. Like the show is definitely more of a southern gothic than the movies and the books but it’s still gothic in both its themes and aesthetic. I also tend to not care what white goths think is gothic or not because they constantly gatekeep and try to push poc out of the community (especially ones who are on the Trad and Victorian side).

Hi! Sorry, this is going to be hard because I’m bad at summarizing stuff like that 😭😭 and I’ll have to go back to many chapters 😞

There are interactions, but I’d say not that much since the story isn’t thaaaat focused on them (except Fleura’s maybe but it was angsty). Maybe Fleura (Ranamun’s child) and Clarice (Sonnaught’s child) had the most interaction with her? But now it’s mostly Fleura because she got focused on in the previous side stories. Most of Latil’s children other children are still really young so I think we’ll see more interactions in the future!!

Maybe @sirsirgirl (really sorry for the mention 😭) can help more with this question though!
