All animal species (and a couple algae) that have kept the same scientific name since Linnaeus
The first work of taxonomy that is considered as having any scientific authority for animal species was the 10th edition of Linnaeus' Systema Naturae, published in 1758. (Also a book on spiders called Aranei Suecici, published one year before.) That's the foundational text of the binominal system of nomenclature of species still in use today. Since then most of Linnaeus' original species (4379 species, of which 185 mammals, 554 birds, 217 "amphibians" (including reptiles and cartilaginous fish), 379 fishes, 2104 "insects" (including various arthropods, of which 664 are beetles and 543 are moths & butterflies crammed into only 3 genera), and 940 "worms" (including basically all other invertebrates, and even some protists and algae)) have been dismembered, renamed, or at least moved to different genera (e.g. the house sparrow went from Fringilla domestica to Passer domesticus).
Here is a list of all of Linnaeus' original species from 1758 that still retain their original name. I believe they are 484 in total.

Genshin Impact Character Constellations Meanings
(I am by no means an expert, this is something I did for fun, I tried to be as accurate as I could but if there’s anything wrong feel free to tell me)
Albedo
Albedo's constellation Princeps Cretaceus means "Chalk Prince" which is well, his title, which is a reference to the (highly possible) fact that Albedo is a homunculus, an artificial human being created from chalk
Amber
Amber's connstellation Lepus is pretty straightforward, it simply means "Rabbit" and goes along with her rabbit theme
Ayaka
Ayaka's constellation Grus Nivis means "Snow Crane"
Barbara
Barbara's constellation Crater means "Bowl", in specific, a large bowl used to mix wine
Beidou
Beidou's constellation Victor Mare means "Conqueror of the Sea", a fitting name for our Uncrowned Lord of the Ocean
Bennett
Bennett's constellation Rota Calamitas means "Calamity Wheel", which is, well, due to his bad luck (my poor little bean :'/ )
Chongyun
Chongyun's constellation Nubis Caesor means “Cloud Cutter”
Diluc
Diluc's Noctua means "Night Owl"
Diona
Diona’s Feles just means ... “Cat”
Eula
Eula’s Aphros Delos is... kinda complicated...so anyways, Aphros means “Sea Foam” and was the name of an ichthyocentaur in greek mythology, while Delos is the name of greek island where Artemis and Apollo were supposedly born (probably a reference to Eula’s nobility I guess)
Fischl
Fischl’s Corvus simply means “Raven”
Ganyu
Ganyu’s Sinae Unicornis simply means “Chinese Unicorn”, a term often used by people to refer to the Qilin of the chinese mythology, Ganyu’s species in-game
Hu Tao
Hu Tao’s Papilio Charontis means “The Butterfly of Charon”. Charon was, in greek mythology, the ferryman for souls to the underworld. Quite fitting for Hu Tao if I say so.
Jean
Jean’s Leo Minor means “Small Lion”, going along with her title of Lionfang Knight. (I’m honestly upset that Jean is the only character with an animal constellation that doesn´t have neither an animal companion or an animal based attack, we were robbed, that’s what I’m saying)
Kaeya
Kaeya’s Pavo Ocellus means “Peacock Eye”, eye as in the eyes in their tail. But hey, maybe that’s what is under the eyepatch, the eye of a peacock... just kidding... unless-
Kazuha
Kazuha’s constellation, Acer Palmatum, is the name of a tree species native to Japan, South Korea and China.
Keqing
Keqing’s Trulla Cementarii, is most likely refering to “Trowel”, since Trulla refers to a ladle or scoop and Cementarii refers to a mason
Klee
Klee’s Trifolium means “Clover”, I mean it IS her motif
Lisa
Lisa’s constellation Tempus Fugit means “Time Flies”, yet another reminder of how little time left she has...
Mona
Mona's Astrolabos, means "Astrolabe", an instrument that was used to make astronomical measurements
Ningguang
Ningguang’s Opus Aequilibrium means “Work Balance”... okay, that checks out
Noelle
Noelle’s Parma Cordis means “Shield of the Heart”
Qiqi
Qiqi’s Pristina Nola means “Traditional Bell”
Raiden Shogun
Raiden’s Imperatrix Umbrosa means “The Shadowy Empress”, a reference to her being her twin’s kagemusha, or shadow warrior
Razor
Razor’s Lupus Minor means “Small Wolf”
Rosaria
Rosaria’s Spinea Corona means “Crown of Thorns”
Sara
Sara’s Flabellum means “Fan”
Sayu
Sayu’s Nyctereutes Minor literally means “Small Nyctereutes”, however I’m pretty sure they’re only really talking about one type of nyctereutes, in which case it would be “Small Tanuki”, it fits Sayu way more.
Sucrose
Sucrose's Ampulla means "Bottle"
Tartaglia
Tartaglia's Monoceros Caeli means "Narwhal of the Sky"
Lumine / Aether
Guess what... Lumine’s Viatrix and Aether’s Viator both mean... Traveler... yea that’s it...
Venti
Venti’s Carmen Dei means “Song God”
Xiangling
Xiangling’s Trulla means “Ladle”
Xiao
Xiao’s Alatus Nemeseos means “Winged Nemesis”, Nemesis being, in greek mythology, the goddess of divine retribution
Xingqiu
Xingqiu’s Fabulae Textile means “Woven Tales”
Xinyan
Xinyan’s Fila Ignium means “Strings of Fire”
Yanfei
Yanfei's Bestia Iustitia means "The Beast of Justice"
Yoimiya
Yoimiya’s Carassius Auratus is the name of a species of fish
Zhongli
Zhongli’s Lapis Dei means “Stone God”

Monoceros
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monoceros first appeared on a globe by the Dutch cartographer and clergyman Petrus Plancius in 1612 as Monoceros Unicornis. The constellation was created to fill the area between two large constellations, Orion and Hydra, where there weren’t any constellations introduced in Greek times.
Plancius introduced the unicorn figure because the mythical animal appears several times in the Old Testament of the Bible. The constellation is not associated with any particular myth. The German astronomer Jakob Bartsch included the constellation in his 1624 star chart as Unicornus.
You can read more about Monoceros here.

All Genshin Impact Constellation names translated into English, sorted alphabetically.
If anybody has a proper translation for Xiao, please enlighten me I am losing my mind. Is Nemeseos Greek? I don't do Greek I only do Latin.
Albedo - Princeps Cretaceus: Chalk-like Prince
Amber - Lepus: Rabbit
Barbara - Crater: Mixing Bowl / Crater / Abyss (most likely the first due to her background as a healer and a nun)
Beidou - Victor Mare: Winner from the Sea
Bennett - Rota Calamitas: Wheel of Calamity (edit: this may be a pun. yknow. wheel of (mis)fortune)
Chongyun - Nubis Caesor: Hewer of Clouds (According to dictionaries, "nubis" may also refer to a "gloomy expression")
Diluc - Noctua: Owl
Diona - Feles: Cat
Fischl - Corvus: Crow
Ganyu - Sinae Unicornis: One-horned China (as in the country)
Hu Tao - Papilio Charontis: Charon's Butterfly
Jean - Leo Minor: Smaller Lion
Kaeya - Pavo Occelus: Eye from a Peacock
Keqing - Trulla Cementarii: Mason's Trowel
Klee - Trifolium: Clover
Lisa - Tempus Fugit: Time Flees (Hers is the only constellation to include a verb in its title)
Mona - Astrolabos: Astrolabe (actually derived from the Greek word Astrolabos)
Ningguang - Opus Aequilibrium: Balanced Work
Noelle - Parma Cordis: Heart's Shield ("parma" specifically refers to small and round shields)
Qiqi - Pristina Nola: Former Bell (I personally do not think Nola refers to the city in Italy)
Razor - Lupus Minor: Smaller Wolf
Rosaria - Spinae Corona: Crown of Thorns
Sucrose - Ampulla: Ampoule
Tartaglia -Monoceros Caeli: Heaven's Unicorn
Traveler - Viator: Traveler (Lumine's is the same as Aether's, just feminine)
Venti - Carmen Dei: God's Song / God of Song
Xiangling - Trulla: Ladle
Xingqiu - Fabulae Textile: Woven Stories
Xinyan - Fila Ignium: String of Flames ("Fila" may also refer specifically to instrument strings)
Zhongli - Lapis Dei: God's Rock / God of Rock
You may note i left one out:
Xiao - Alatus Nemeseos.
Xiao is going to make me crack my own teeth open. "Alatus" means winged. The real problem comes in with "Nemeseos."
Identifying it in latin grammar lands you with a masculine accusative plural, which is freaking weird for a title since accusative is a case denoting the object of a sentence. Nemeseos is also not a word as far as i know? It seems derived from Nemesis, the goddess of retribution (or Nemesius, a philosopher who talked about human nature, but considering the Yaksha's whole karma deal, likely the former)
So if it was "Alatus Nemesis" I wouldn't bat an eye since that's "winged nemesis" which fits his jumpy powers and the retribution aspect of his character. But again, nemeseos is accusative plural. Girl what.

Any current or former latin students crying with me
(Made via excessive use of a latin dictionary and my fading skills after 4 years of classes. Gotta use my Latinum for something.)
Me being bilingual, some of these are translated around two corners [latin -> german -> english] but they should be accurate enough.
Most words are pulled from Latein.me, which hasn't led me astray getting the aforementioned Latinum, so it's gotta count for something at least (Better than any Latin to English dictionaries I found in any case).

Are Unicorns Real?!
Heck, I’m new on here why not start with an debate that should be started and that should be discussed through the honest to God ambassadors, terrorists, and even the dark cold heart of Trump. Get ready. Brace yourself.
So, one day I read about Unicorns in Psalm 29. Psalm 29:6, “He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. “ Are unicorns real?
Tumblr media
You would usually think about them as a myth, but they are in the truest Book of all times.
So why are they there? Well, I looked up some websites and found some information. First, I will name some other verses that have unicorns mentioned in them:
Numbers 23:22 “God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.”
Numbers 24:8     “God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.”
Job 39:9   “Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?”
Psalms 92:10    “But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.”
In the website www.creationtoday.org they name some pretty good facts. Before I forget, remember that cute little boy with blond hair that “went to heaven?” I think his name was Cole or something like that. Didn’t he say that he saw Jesus with a purple robe next to a unicorn? Hmm..interesting. A lot of the modern translations have more “wild ox” or “buffalo.” Now this is some reasons that people don’t believe the Word of God, because it’s supposed to be a mythical creature. Now here is the interesting part of the definition that this website came up with.
Unicorn – An animal with one horn; the monoceros. this name is often applied to the rhinoceros.
^^ This is from a 1828 dictionary. Now they say to look up rhinoceroses. Here is the definition:
Rhinoceros – A genus of quadrupeds of two species, one of which, the unicorn, has a single horn growing almost erect from the nose. This animal when full grown, is said to be 12 feet in length. There is another species with two horns, the bicornis. They are natives of Asia and Africa.
The one horned species was called “unicorn” while the other called “bicornis” This was over 200 years ago. Definitions have changed. Another interesting fact is that the scientific name of the Asian One-Horned Rhinoceros is Rhinoceros Unicornis. Cool right?
So we found out that unicorns are real! Just not in the way we think...Oh flip it, my belief will always be in unicorns and they are the ones that created fruit loops. It’s true. Believe it.
