Monkey’s Paw pages 137-139 ( START HERE || ao3 || previous || next )
AU after episode 62. The Omega Dads try a more desperate gambit, but careful what you wish for. Our dads find alternate versions of themselves in a strange dreamscape.
If you die in the dream, do you die in real life?
straight up made this conversation longer just to fit the Nick Jr House gag

i think it’s genuinely so interesting that it’s canon that oliver is the only kid they actually planned, but also that he’s katie’s least favorite. kinda monkey’s paw-esque idk

Idk maybe I have a complex but I genuinely think I could outsmart the monkeys paw.
Like, "the monkeys paw will grant your wish but do so in an awful way, still technically fulfilling what you asked of it" okay so my first wish is that the monkeys paw won't make bad things happen.
And I know what you're probably thinking, "well, the monkeys paw won't let good things happen either then." Okay so then I'll wish that good things happen without the consequences caused by the monkeys paw.
Then it'd be like, "the bad things will happen before the good things, subsequently nullifying the term consequences". Cool, I wish for only good things with no strings attached and no bad things.
Like, I feel like all you need is to be very specific with what you wish upon the paw so that it just runs out of ideas.
I'll get the paw and wish for world peace without the planet being destroyed, without humans going instinct or having anything happen to us collectively or individually that alters who we are mentally, physically, or emotionally, and without any harm coming to the plants, animals, or any change occurring to atoms or molecules, everything stays ideal but now there is peace and peace is defined as no wars, no oppression, no murder, and generally no morally terrible crime, and everyone has enough food and water to not starve.
Whats the paw going to do, huh? Just fucking kill me now?

[A letter, sealed in a black envelope, sealed with black wax.]
@fear-osha
[offy stands in their office, bloody and bandaging up a nasty gash in their chest. they hold the letter with shaky, wet hands, thinking for a moment, before ripping it open.]
