A close friend/mentor of my spouse just lost her sister, Michelle, on the 9th. Michelle left behind two underage children, 2 cats and Nitro, a 5 year old Husky. We offered to care for Nitro while the kids get settled, with the likelihood of him spending up to a year with us.
Nitro joined us Sunday evening and seemed excited as any puppy is to be in a new place. However, Monday morning, I went outside to feed him breakfast and play before work, only to find him seizing on my back patio covered in blood, mud and other unsavory mess. My spouse and I rushed him to a nearby emergency vet, where they stabilized him enough that we could transport him to a better equipped animal hospital further away.
Nitro spent 2 nights in the hospital and came home with us last night. He is making a solid recovery, though he will need at least two more vet visits (one to make sure his anemia isn't coming back and another to remove the sutures on the cuts he sustained on some glass that broke while he was seizing). Nitro's family is unable to contribute to his veterinary bills due to struggles with funding Michelle's funeral and settling her estate. I have put about 3k on my credit card, and the mentor mentioned above has covered the rest on hers for now, but it puts us both significantly in the red once interest starts to accrue.

Nick was understandably angry. Y/n had months to warn him about not resigning when her contract ended. It was already pretty likely that she'd want to go somewhere else if she went anywhere, but Nick had assumed that his wife would be going to a company that AEW collaborated with often like New Japan. The first email that Y/n had received had been from AEW's top rival, WWE. They had offered her a great contract, allowing for her to pick between the brands. Y/n had wanted to work for the WWE ever since she was a little girl, before they had changed their name. It wouldn't be the same as being a part of Monday Night Nitro or anything, but Raw and Smackdown were just as good in Y/n's eyes. The talent that she would be working with was unmatched, and the roster was full of faces that she had missed since their signings.
Y/n hadn't expected for Nick to take the news that she had switched companies as personally as he was. He seemed to have forgotten that Y/n had turned down this opportunity once before for him, and it hadn't amounted to much for her. Getting to be a part of her own storylines was a great experience, but Y/n wanted it to come without so much drama. AEW was fun, but it had started to feel less like the home it once had been. Rather than overstay her welcome, Y/n decided that she'd head over to WWE for a couple of years to see if that would be any different. Maybe Y/n could form a new family there and take in some trainees like she had wanted to at AEW.
"Are you going to talk to me before my cab gets here?" Y/n asked as she stepped into the half-empty bedroom. Nick looked over at her and sighed. He looked sad and tired. Y/n could tell from the redness in his eyes that he had been crying. Nick's eyes always gave that away, and Y/n hated that she could see exactly how torn up her husband was about this. "It's not like we're getting a divorce or anything."
"We might as well be. I mean, how could you pick money over what we've built at AEW together? Did you even stop to think of all the things that we had yet to make happen?" Nick jumped up as his voice grew more intense. Y/n had never been one to be easily intimidated, so she moved forward with every step that Nick took across that room. It was only a matter of seconds before they were in each other's faces. "It's either WWE or me. Money or family, your choice. Stop this bullshit and stay with me, we're already making millions."
"You can't ask me to do that. You know I won't Nick. That's not a choice I can make anymore," Y/n said. Nick scoffed as he turned away from Y/n. His hands were sitting on top of his head, pushing forward the little bun that he had tied his hair into just slightly.
"Go, it seems like you'll fit in with the McMahons well," Nick snapped. Y/n turned away from him faster than she normally would have to hide her tears. She hated being this upset, especially since it would be a long time before they could get any reconciliation. Nick had always been so supportive of her, but she wasn't quite so certain what was different now. They had different expectations of each other now that they were married, but Y/n couldn't believe that Nick would expect her to give up her dreams for him without being willing to do the same.
