Are we ready? It's Time...
For more GOOD OMENS WILD META.
I have been chewing on this one for awhile. Like, really ruminating on it. Probably because it's so far-reaching. For me, for others. It's a matter of the Journey From The Final Fifteen.
I will openly admit it, when I first came off the Final Fifteen, sometime in August/September (yeah, I was so worried about Season 2 I didn't watch it for a month after it came out and I realized I was right to do so.). I was, and still am, heartbroken. I was angry, despairing and wondering what the point of an ending like that was. I was angry at Neil Gaiman, I was angry at all the creators behind Good Omens. I was angry at Aziraphale, first, and then after about five minutes, I was angry at Crowley too.
Note, I was never mad at David Tennant or Michael Sheen. I respected their acting choices so much in the Final Fifteen. It was beautiful. It ripped my soul out through my chest. They are both brilliant. I know everyone has their favorite GO counterparts - they are mine.
Then a funny thing happened. A few weeks passed. I started fumbling around Good Omens Tumblr again. I'd been a big contributor during Detroit: Become Human (of which I am still a HUGE FAN, god I love that game.), and until Good Omens 2 came out, I was on the side of Good Omens fandom. Reading, mostly, but at the time I was very deep into my Wangxian fixation (haaaaah, I say, like I have ever left it. My dream AU is Aziraphale and Crowley in the Sunshot Campaign, causing trouble with Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian.). That changed after Final Fifteen. Now I was hurt, I was looking for comfort. I was looking for my fellow fans.
Clearly, I found you, you gorgeous bastards (saying nothing about your moms, unless you want me to). I started to read more meta, started having my own thoughts and carefully posting them. Reading fanfiction, and ... becoming less angry. Stepping back, to really look at the story. I was swallowing content like Aziraphale swallowed ox ribs. In the midst of this, I realized this wasn't The End of Good Omens, but merely the second part of a Trilogy. I'm a writer, I know what the second part of a trilogy is. It's where your heart breaks, it's the cliffhanger episode. I stopped being mad, and started loving the craft. I started to actually look at the scenes instead of just watching.
With that, I started to realize I had been missing so much. I realized I had been wrong, about a lot of things. My perspectives, and thoughts changed. Aziraphale wasn't at fault, he was a victim of the situation as much as Crowley was. Crowley left the bookshop, but he never left Aziraphale. He waited. He's still waiting. As more time passed, the more my thoughts evolved. Changed, formed anew, and I felt better for it. I decided to be hopeful about the whole thing. Yes, it was bad now, but there were enough signs and easter eggs to say this wasn't the ending we were going to get.
I healed, in short. I forgave. I'm waiting for our next chapter, because I know this story isn't done, not by a long shot. I'm waiting to see how our heroes will cope.
Rather like, I think, Aziraphale and Crowley will. The initial pain is going to fade, the anger, the feeling of rejection (whereas they will some day realize neither one of them were in fact, rejected.). The longing is going to kick in. They're going to miss one another more than they will ever be angry. There's going to be moments of grace, of forgiveness, partnered with sadness. What I think we forget, sometimes, is that Aziraphale and Crowley are 6000 years old. They've fought before. They'll fight again. With the fullness of time though, they'll come back to one another. They'll talk again.
Right now though, they've had time. Time to hopefully process (I really, really hope Aziraphale has had SOME time to process), time let the anger fade a little. Maybe not enough time - some of us here still need time - but enough to let them wonder ... is it really over? Maybe to realize, no. No it's not.
Time doesn't heal all wounds, but time does allow you to find equilibrium. I hope time will do the same for our angel and our demon. I know time helped me. I hope time will help us all.

One of the things I love the most about yunmeng siblings is how protective they are of each other. Always.
Madam Yu scolded, "You are like this again! If you yourself don't seek progress, then don't drag Jiang Cheng to fool around with you. You are going to be a bad influence to him!"
Wei WuXian looked startled, "I don't seek progress? Why, I am not the one with the most progress in the entire Lotus pier?"
Young people were never too patient. They wouldn't feel satisfied unless they talked back. Hearing this, an air of hostility appeared over Madam Yu's forehead. Jiang Cheng hastened, "Wei Wuxian, shut up!"
He turned to Madam Yu, "It's not that we want to shot kites in Lotus Pier but, right now, isn't it that none of us are allowed to leave? The Wen Sect assigned all of night-hunt areas to itself. Even if I want to night-hunt, there isn't anywhere for me to go. To stay at home and not go outside to provoke or fight for prey with the Wen Sect - isn't this what you yourself made clear to father? "
Chapter 50
Jc, seeing his mother hostility, hastened, trying to redirect his mother attention, remembering her that's not wwx's fault that he is fooling around, the wen sect has forbidden them everywhere, he can't practice, he is trying to be a good sect heir, just as she wanted.
"Jiang Cheng! Go get some clothes on! You look no different than a barbarian! What would people think of me if they saw you?!"
[...]
Thus, Madam Yu's next sentence, as usual, was, "Wei Ying! Do you want to die!?"
[...]
Yet, all of a sudden, someone's quit voice drifted by Madam Yu's ear, "Mom, do you want to eat some watermelon..."
Madam Yu was startled by Jiang Yalin, who seemingly appeared out of nowhere. With the delay, all the boy have vanished into thin air. She was so infuriated that she tuned to Jiang Yanli and pinched her cheek, "Eat, eat, eat - all you do is eat!"
Jiang Yalin almost cried from her mother's pinching, mumbling, "Mom, A-Xian and the others were hiding here to relieve the heat and I came here on my own. Don't blame them... Do... Do you want some watermelon... I don't know who gave them to us, but it's really sweet. Eating watermelon in the summer is great for cooling down and quenching thirst. I'll cut them for you... "
Chapter 130
Jyl, seeing her mother rant, quietly takes action, offering her mother sweet watermelon because it's hot and watermelon is good for her, and she doesn't need to be angry, the guys were only chilling from the heat.
He blurted, "If she is dissatisfied, tell her to cancel this engagement! Either way, I don't care for your precious shijie. If you do, why don't you go ask her father for her hand?! Doesn't he treat you more dearly than his own son?"
The last comment made Jiang Cheng's gaze freeze. Wei WuXian was beside himself with rage, lunging with a raised fist. Although Jin Zixuan had expected the attack, he didn't expect Wei WuXian to be so fast, and the punch landed before he was done talking.
Chapter 18
At jzx's insults at both jc and jyl, wwx responded with a fist he landed before jzx was even done talking!
They love each other so fiercely! They are always ready to protect each others until their love isn't enough and they fall apart.

Como dientes en el alma
Song that inspired the title, idea is from this and the one post I made about wanting to write a prompt based off "you drew stars/around my scars/and now i'm bleeding"
This is so sweet and emotional, it made me miss writing angst and killing blorbos.
Have fun and don't get used to it <3
Lan Wangji passes by that place every morning when he takes A-Yuan to school. It's still the same as always, the same as back then, a little shop facing the main street, high windows with tattoo displays on them and a light up sign that hasn't flashed in over a decade.
"You don't look like the tattoo type." He laughs, and it lights up his whole face, his handsome features softening. His lip piercing glistens under the white neon lights, and for a moment, Lan Wangji forgets he's nervous at all. "Is there any occasion you're doing this for?"
"For... my mother, she's... gone."
There have been many rumors. Some said he ran away, others said he killed himself, or was disposed of. Most people shook their head and moved on with their lives.
Sometimes, Lan Wangji wishes he did too. Wishes he could.
It's been so long.
"Have you thought where you'd like it done?"
"It must be somewhere hidden. My workplace is...strict. As is my family."
He laughs again, and Lan Wangji finds himself yearning for the sound, wanting to remember it forever, melodious, sincere. Light shines on his face, his stormy eyes glistening with mirth, and Lan Wangji irrationally wonders what it would be like to hear that laughter forever.
"How about your arm? There's plenty of space there, I see." a wink, and Lan Wangji's ears flare red.
"Alright."
"I'll do my best so it doesn't hurt too much, but you'll hate me when I'll start to color it in, so heads up for that."
"It is fine, I am used to pain."
He smiles, but this time it's in sympathetic understanding, hiding something dark and painful beneath, "I am too. Doesn't mean you have to like it."
The tattoo is still there, beautiful etched into his skin. It hurt, but not nearly as much as everything else in his life - before that, and after - did. He still catches himself admiring it in the shower, or as he's getting ready in the mirror.
"Do you want to talk about your mother? It'll help distract you, you seem tense."
Lan Wangji was tense, but not because of the procedure, the other's touch electrifying, the closeness, intoxicating. But, indeed, this was about Lan Wangji's mother. And he never really got to talk to anyone about her.
It's comforting, to know there are still pieces of him into the world, scattered in the crowd, carrying his mastery, his touch, his soul, his creativity.
His love.
"My mom died too. Both my parents did. And I... I don't really remember them anymore. I was 3 or 4 years old when it happened, and then I lived on the streets for a while before uncle Jiang found me and took me in. I always wanted to find a way to make sure I wouldn't ever forget important things again and... well, you can never forget to look at your skin, right?"
It was impossible for Lan Wangji not to fall in love with him. Anyone would have. Such a kind, considerate, playful person, so beautiful, so artistic with everything he did - it was as if, with every move of his tools, Wei Wuxian didn't just leave his mark on Lan Wangji's body, but on his soul too.
"I...this is really unprofessional of me and I really shouldn't be doing this, but... frankly, I like you." The blush decorates Wei Wuxian's face so beautifully and Lan Wangji feels his own cheeks burn, his heart beating wildly in his chest. He smiles, shy, but with a glint in his eyes "And I think you like me too, because you've been here almost every day, and the 'I'm worried about healing' excuse is getting old."
Busted - but Lan Wangji knew it wasn't that good of an excuse anyway. However, he's done with excuses - and he pulls Wei Wuxian into a kiss instead, fully accountable and open about his intention.
And so incredibly happy.
Lan Wangji has three tattoos. The gentian flower, in memory of his mother, on his right arm, a pair of bunnies, a tribute to the love he and Wei Wuxian shared and...
Lan Wangji traces his fingers over the crudely drawn brand on Wei Wuxian's chest.
"This isn't yours." He says, and kisses over it, softly, as if the skin had yet to heal.
"No, it isn't... It was a... punishment. I pissed off the wrong people and I paid for it."
"Why didn't you remove it?"
"There are some things you can't erase, Lan Zhan, regardless of whether they show on your skin or not."
Lan Wangji remembered the symbol precisely - the lines, the contours of it, the sun it supposedly represents - and had it done too. Wanted to do it himself at first, drunk and mad with grief, but ultimately decided against it. Wei Wuxian wouldn't want him to die the same way he almost did.
"How about we get matching tattoos?" He asked one morning as he hopped onto the kitchen counter, coffee in hand, all but inviting Lan Zhan to kiss him.
He did, hungry and wanting as always, but Wei Ying seemed insistent on having a conversation right then, pushing Lan Zhan away enough so he could catch his breath. "I'm being serious, Lan Zhan, come on."
"So am I." And he kissed down the column of Wei Ying's neck as if to prove a point, hands sliding over the painted skin of his thighs.
"Lan Zhan, you're - ahh...- you're not listening to me!"
"I am. You sound pretty."
"That's not - mmh! - you know what, we should just get bunnies, since we're fucking like rabbits anyway!"
Sometimes, Lan Zhan can almost feel it, the gentle touch of Wei Ying's hand, the pinching of the needle, the warmth of being so close to the love of his life and distracting him with kisses when he shouldn't.
"Lan Zhan. Stay still, I mean it. I could really hurt you, and that would break my heart and my license!"
"You should not look so beautiful then."
Wei Ying lifted the tattoo gun off his skin and sighed, loudly. "Mister Lan, I may have to ask someone else to finish your tattoo, because you'll kill me with those words of yours."
Lan Zhan took advantage of the break to get into kissing his lover properly, smiling to himself as they parted and Wei Ying appeared entirely lovestruck, lips kiss-bruised.
"Okay, I'll behave. I don't want anyone but you."
It's been a long time since Lan Wangji has felt anything but hollow. He's been unable - and unwilling - to love anybody else other than his Wei Ying, and he's long resigned to a life of loneliness because of this conviction.
But he does dream, still, of a day when he passes by the old tattoo shop and the neon sign is lit up, the door opened wide, and Wei Wuxian rushing out to greet him, latch his arms around him and give him a sweet, smiling kiss.
Every morning as he passes by the place, his heart stutters with the tiniest surge of excitement.
Maybe there will be someone there today. Maybe, somehow, Wei Wuxian has returned, and he's still pursuing his dream and he still love Lan Wangji.
But the building stays stubbornly empty no matter how hard Lan Wangji hopes it not be so.
---
But one day, 13 years later, the neon sign is lit up and the door is opened. Lan Wangji nearly stumbles out of skin at the sight of the decrepit shop suddenly teeming with life and the distant sound of buzzing needles.
He rushes in, shaking with so much emotion he feels his knees might just give out.
Wei Ying!
The young man at the register glances at him curiously. The name badge on his shirt reads "Mo Xuanyu", and, as if awoken from a dream, Lan Wangji blinks once, twice, and realizes he doesn't recognize anything or anyone in the old establishment.
"Can I help you?" Mo Xuanyu asks, though Lan Wangji feels too shattered to do anything but shake his head.
How could he be so stupid? Of course he won't find Wei Wuxian here. There are other tattoo artists and the building couldn't have stayed abandoned forever.
The world has long moved on.
And Wei Wuxian is...
A voice calls from somewhere deep in the store, and the closer it gets, the more tears gather in Lan Wangji's eyes.
"Xuanyu, did the 10 am appointment arrive yet? I want to go get some co..."
Wei Wuxian stands frozen in the middle of the shop's reception, eyes wide as if unable to comprehend what he's seeing.
The stranger - no, not a stranger, not at all - smiles at him, honeyed and tearful, and Wei Wuxian's body moves before he realizes.
When he's finally in Lan Wangji's arms, and Lan Wangji is in his...
"Is this real, Lan Zhan? Tell me it is, tell me you're really here."
"I am here, Wei Ying. I've always been."

Hello.... Can I ask your top 5 (or top 3) favorite characters from MDZS? And why you loved them? And your top 5 favorite moments from the series? Thanks if you want to answer....
yeah sure!
Characters:
5. Lan Sizhui/Lan Jingyi I love their dynamic SO much. They're best friends who have clearly known each other for such a long time, and they're both really interesting characters in their own right! Lan Sizhui is so interesting, what with his Lan upbringing and his Wen heritage, and the fact that he's connecting to both by the end of the book. Lan Jingyi is Lan Sizhui's ride-or-die, protecting his best friend at every opportunity while having the best lines in the entire book, and he makes every scene he's in 100x better.
4. Wen Qing Medical malplractice queen!! But in all seriousness, there's something so viscerally powerful about the fact that she's willing to go against nature itself for her baby brother. She'd both die and kill for Wen Ning, and later for Wei Wuxian. I feel like her type of character (murderous older sister) is kind of rare and I really, really like her. I feel like The Untamed really fleshed out her character and I really appreciated her after I watched it. She's equally capable of nurturing and destroying—a force of nature herself.
3. Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian Fun fact: I hated Lan Wangji when I first read MDZS, and to be honest I'm still so-so on novel Lan Wangji. However, he was easily one of my favorite characters in The Untamed, and watching it made me see him in a whole different light. He doesn't communicate through his words, but through his actions. I think Wang Yibo was perfect casting because he NAILED Lan Wangji's micro-expressions and body language and really brought the character to life. Reading Lan Wangji as autistic also made me understand him a lot more. As for Wei Wuxian, I initially read him as a silly guy and... was right. Despite everything, he stays silly. I do find him a little insufferable pre-death, but I think that was intentional. He probably would have been higher on the list, but while I think he's a really compelling character (and ADHD personified, just like me fr), I'm also very frustrated by him and I don't like how he treats people sometimes. Still, I adore the way he looks after Jin Ling, refuses to let anyone blame Jiang Cheng for anything that happened to him, and takes care of Lan Wangji (towards the end, anyway).
2. Jin Ling Ok he probably would have been at the very top of this list but unfortunately jiang cheng brainrot is real. But CAN WE TALK ABOUT HIM. Over the course of the story, he finds out that his disgraced uncle who insulted him for not having a mom was actually Wei Wuxian reincarnated, then had to contend with the fact that Wei Wuxian was both the reason his parents and grandparents died AND the guy who protected him at every opportunity. Not to mention, he learned that Jin Guangyao, his beloved uncle who gifted him his beloved dog, had orchestrated his parents' death and was ready to kill him too. And what does he do at the end of the novel? He cries. He doesn't seek revenge, he doesn't get angry, he just cries, and he lets go. He chooses not to pursue revenge, because he's seen how the quest for revenge has destroyed everyone around him in one way or another. He's a little shit (because he's an edgy 15 year old) but he's a really intelligent and kind person who loves Jiang Cheng more than anything.
1. Jiang Cheng Some of y'all are going to disagree with me but it must be said. Jiang Cheng is the best MDZS character. Jiang Yanli's love and care taught him how to be loving and caring too. He loved Wei Wuxian, he loved Jin Ling, and he loved his sect. Jiang Cheng never stopped loving Wei Wuxian, even after everything that happened. He hated Wei Wuxian too—that's undeniable—but he also loved him. He kept his belongings intact, he never stopped believing he would come back, he literally gave up his golden core to protect Wei Wuxian. And Jin Ling! He loves Jin Ling so much! Despite having AWFUL parents himself, he was determined not to be that way towards Jin Ling. He did his best to break the generational trauma of his family because he wanted Jin Ling to have it better than he did. When Jin Ling becomes sect leader, he makes sure that he knows that if he EVER needs ANYTHING, he'll provide it to the best of his ability. I could go on for hours about this man. Best MDZS character. He's so full of resentment and hatred and vengeance, but in the end, the thing that always wins out over everything else is his unshakeable love.
Honorable mention: I loved MianMian in the Untamed and wish she got more time to shine in the novel
Favorite moments: 5. Literally anytime Lan Jingyi is in a scene. Every time he opens his mouth it's my favorite scene. He keeps Wei Wuxian humble in a way that only a teenager can. 4. The WangXian scene where Wei Wuxian hides porn in Lan Wangji's book. It starts off so genuinely nice—you can tell Lan Wangji isn't really serious anymore when he tells Wei Wuxian to stfu, and you get the feeling that Wei Wuxian is probably the closest thing Lan Wangji has to a friend. Wei Wuxian draws Lan Wangji a little portrait, and it's genuinely a sweet gesture. Lan Wangji thinks so too—he hasn't ever gotten something like this, and the fact that Wei Wuxian took the time to learn his appearance and commit it to paper makes him feel some type of way. And then, it turns out that everything was just a ruse so Wei Wuxian could prank Lan Wangji. Lan Wangji is,, understandably enraged. It feels cruel that Wei Wuxian would be so insincere just to do that. I kind of hated Wei Wuxian in this scene, but it's one of my favorites because it kind of shows the nature of their initial relationship—half-sincere, but never truly sincere. 3. Xuanwu cave scene. It's so funny and so painful and so sweet. We really see everyone's characters coming out—Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji being selfless protective, Jiang Cheng being capable and responsible, Jin Zixuan being brave and righteous, MianMian being the GOAT, Wang Lingjiao and Wen Chao deserving death, etc. 2. The umbrella scene in the Untamed. It was just so powerful. Lan Wangji putting down his umbrella, which represents the rules and morality of his sect, and just letting the rain mess up his perfect appearance. He doesn't know what's right and wrong anymore, because he loves Wei Wuxian, but everyone is telling him that's wrong. Wei Wuxian himself doesn't know what's right and wrong. Lan Wangji has been thinking in terms of black and white all this time, and for the first time, he finds himself in a gray area. It was just so powerful!! 1. The conversation between Jin Ling and Jiang Cheng after the temple scene at the end. It was just so beautiful. Go read/watch it.

Yes, that's right, it's REAL HIDDEN TRACK. The regular one, not my silly Jin Guangyao nonsense! Say thank you to the very generous @forablueeyedmiracle (that @ tag is not working, sorry!), who requested some more of this nonsense with bonus having to be physically affectionate for fake dating reasons.
It has been a While, so if you need to refamiliarize yourself, masterpost is here.
Enjoy!
.
Wei Wuxian is behaving…oddly. Jiang Cheng would probably say that Wei Wuxian always behaves oddly, but Lan Wangji knows better. Wei Wuxian is surprising, frequently. Thrilling. Unique. But he always behaves exactly like himself, each surprise simply another way in which he is completely Wei Wuxian. Now, however, as Luo Qingyang discusses the concert they’re meant to give, he’s quiet. He fidgets, but doesn’t interrupt, doesn’t tease, doesn’t inject his excess energy into the conversation.
“And you two—” Luo Qingyang says, turning to Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian.
Wei Wuxian jumps slightly. “What? What about us? What did I do? Everything’s fine!”
Luo Qingyang stops, narrowing her eyes at him. “Well, now I think something isn’t.”
Wei Wuxian laughs, brushing it off, but his eyes dart to the side too quickly, and Lan Wangji leans forward, trying to catch his eye. It doesn’t work.
“My mom thinks he’s getting married to Lan Wangji,” Jiang Cheng says abruptly. “It’s a whole thing. It was awkward as hell.”
Wei Wuxian agrees immediately, but when Lan Wangji changes the direction of his gaze, he finds Jiang Cheng frowning at his brother. He looks angry, like a brewing argument, but on Jiang Cheng, that’s probably the same thing as concern.
“Fine,” Luo Qingyang says. “You two, please try to be as publicly affectionate as possible during this concert? Kiss some more. You’ve been doing fantastically so far, so keep it up, would you? It’s making my job so much easier.”
“Jiang Cheng and Wen Qing don’t make out on stage,” Wei Wuxian protests. And it is a protest, Lan Wangji realizes with increasing worry. It’s very clearly an objection. Wei Wuxian is—bothered? He doesn’t want—
But everything has been fine before now. Hasn’t it? It’s been—
Has Lan Wangji done something wrong?
He wracks his brain, trying to remember, but—Wei Wuxian had come home from his apparently awful dinner with his adoptive family, and he’d seemed unhappy, but not unhappy with their fake relationship or Lan Wangji’s increasingly obvious affection. Wei Wuxian had seemed pleased enough for them to spend time together. That’s not the same thing as kissing on stage during a stadium tour, but surely—surely if Lan Wangji had made some kind of mistake, he would know.
“Jiang Cheng and Wen Qing have also spent years being extremely low key about their relationship,” Luo Qingyang says, because the conversation is continuing while Lan Wangji tries to remember every detail of the last few days. “You know what they haven’t ever done? Made out against a car door in full view of the press, your fans, and anyone else with an internet connection. Declared love at first sight to an entire talk show studio audience. Talked about their fake sex life where photography crews could hear.”
“Okay, listen, that was—that was—I don’t know what any of that was, but I’m not conceding the point.”
Lan Wangji’s fault, is what every single one of those things had been. And perhaps Luo Qingyang realizes that—or, more likely, she just thinks Lan Wangji is more inclined to be reasonable; more fool her—because she turns to Lan Wangji and says, “Kiss on stage. A lot, please. I don’t want anyone doubting the reality of this ridiculous story.”
Lan Wangji swallows. “If Wei Ying doesn’t want to—”
“No,” Wei Wuxian says immediately. “No, it’s fine. She’s right, it’s fine, why would I care. It’ll be fun, it’s fine.”
It cannot possibly be, and Lan Wangji is very much not ready to be done with this conversation, but Luo Qingyang clearly is. She smiles and says, “Good, glad to hear it. Keep the rest of it in mind, and please, for the love of everything, don’t play something unreleased and unrecorded without running it by me first.”
She leaves, and for a moment there’s silence. Then Wei Wuxian sits up straight and claps his hands together. “So, we’re playing something unreleased and unrecorded without running it by her first, right?”
“I fucking hate you,” Jiang Cheng says, and then, “Yeah, okay.”
Wen Qing darts a glance at her boyfriend and then shrugs. “Sure. She’s used to us by now. It won’t exactly come as a surprise.”
Since Wen Ning and Lan Wangji don’t disagree with Wei Wuxian without a better reason than making Luo Qingyang roll her eyes at them, that’s that—or it should be, except Jiang Cheng says, “Wei Wuxian, do you have any love songs lying around?”
Wei Wuxian just stares at him for a moment. “What?”
Wen Qing is frowning at her hands, folded neatly on her lap, but Jiang Cheng just makes an impatient noise. “Love songs,” he repeats. “You have to kiss him on stage anyway. Two birds, one stone—come on, Wei Wuxian. If we do a new love song now, it doesn’t fucking matter what you put for the lyrics, everyone will think it’s about Lan Wangji anyway. You can dedicate it to him, whatever else. All that. Everyone will eat it up.”
“I—” Wei Wuxian says, and then he stops.
“Come on. You always manage to write way more than what we can fit into an album, there’s got to be something. Something that got scrapped because it didn’t fit a theme or something. As long as it’s not literally about a girl, we should be fine.”
“Maybe even if it is about a girl,” Wen Qing says slowly. Her eyes are narrowed slightly, fixed on Wei Wuxian now. “People will hear what they want to. It doesn’t have to really mean anything. It’s like fortune tellers. They say something generic, you find ways to make it specific. Even if it looks like it fits, it doesn’t actually.”
Wei Wuxian blinks, and then he says, “Uh, yeah, sure, I think I have some stuff. It might be a little rough, though.”
Jiang Cheng just brushes off. “Whatever, we’ll polish it. We’ve got, like, what, three hours? Plenty of time.”
Lan Wangji would really like to use any of those three hours to try and figure out what’s upsetting Wei Wuxian, but Wei Wuxian is already throwing himself into the process with more excitement than he’s shown for anything else so far, so—so it’s probably fine.
#
“I think I have stage fright,” Wei Wuxian says without any kind of lead up, staring at the green room ceiling. He only says it because Wen Qing’s the only other person in the room, everyone else having been stolen for various pre-show things. Probably he should know what those things are, but he wasn’t paying attention.
“You don’t,” she tells him, which is why she’s the person he’s saying this to. “You’ve never had stage fright in your life.”
“I know,” he says. “But I think I must.”
She doesn’t say anything for a moment. She might be making faces at him, but that’s why he’s staring at the ceiling: so he doesn’t have to know what kind. “You’re nervous?” she asks him at last.
Not nervous, not exactly. He shakes his head. “I think I might throw up?”
Another silence, longer this time, and then she suddenly gets up and stands over him, looming and forcing him to look at her. “Look,” she says firmly. “You had a weird conversation with your foster parents. Yu Ziyuan’s pissed at you because now she thinks you might get married before Jiang Cheng does—seriously, who cares, it’s not like I’m going anywhere whether we sign a marriage license or not—and Jiang Fengmian’s all delighted about your new relationship. It’s making you feel guilty about the whole thing. Up until now, you haven’t been lying to people who matter. It’s normal to start feeling uncomfortable with the whole thing.”
Wei Wuxian stares at her, and then he sits up so fast he almost bashes their heads together. “Oh.”
“Makes sense, right?” she says firmly.
“It does.”
“So relax. You don’t have stage fright. You’re experiencing guilt. It’s fine. You’re honestly doing the best thing for everyone, because things would be much, much worse if everyone still thought I was cheating with you. The guilt is normal, but it’s not necessary. You’ll get over it eventually.”
“Right,” Wei Wuxian says. “That makes so much sense. Yeah, that’s—that’s definitely all it is, shit. Thanks, Qing-jie.”
“Any time,” she says, heaving a sigh that sounds as relieved as he feels. “Just remember—everything’s fine.”
“Everything’s fine,” he agrees.
He repeats that to himself often during the concert—every time he hangs off of Lan Wangji’s shoulders, every time he presses their lips and bodies together. He repeats it especially firmly when he introduces the new song, the one that’s unreleased and unrecorded and very much not run by Mianmian. He’d thought a couple times—it does sound like it could be about Lan Wangji, is the thing, but Wen Qing’s probably right about the fortune teller thing too. It sounds like it could be about Lan Wangji because he’s looking for those connections now.
And everyone else will be too, especially since he opens it by saying, “This is a new one! Our manager’s going to kill us for playing it for you, but the thing is, we couldn’t ever release it before because—well, because I wrote it, and I was worried it was going to be a little obvious.” The crowd cheers and he grins, doing his best to egg them on. “Lately I feel like all my lyrics are about a certain someone. What do you think, do you guys want to hear it?”
Everyone very much does, which might mitigate Mianmian’s all-consuming rage when they get backstage. And everyone wants to hear it because they believe in Wei Wuxian’s beautiful romance, so he does his best to sell it. He sings to Lan Wangji, winking at him and flirting as outrageously he can, and when it’s over, he throws his cittern to the side and just jumps him.
Lan Wangji responds instantly, kissing back with enough fervor that Wei Wuxian ends up bent backward and only resisting the call gravity because Lan Wangji is holding him up. Wei Wuxian loses himself in the sensation of it all at some point—loses time, loses track of what he’s feeling. Somehow, when he comes up for air, he’s laughing. He’s not sure when the anxiety—the guilt—turned into delight, but he can’t seem to stop smiling.
“So you liked the song,” he says, teasing.
Lan Wangji leans back in to bite at his bottom lip meanly. “Yes,” he says, and then, just loud enough to be caught by the mics they’re wearing, “I love all your music.”
And he means that, Wei Wuxian knows, so their weird, weird lives are more than worth it.

24 Days of Mingcheng 2022 Day 17 - Lunch
This story is courtesy of a prompt from indiw which was as follows: add to the punching JFM tag -  only this time it is JC punching him, YZY giving immediate alibi and shaming JYL and WWX (and LWJ?) into agreement, over NMJ’s honor.   NHS has recordings and receipts for future blackmail purposes and is waiting, when JFM wakes up.  Maybe YZY, JYL, and WWX (and LWJ? ) are also present.
It's not exactly like that but I hope you still enjoy it!
Jiang Cheng doesn’t want to be doing this. He can imagine a thousand different things he would rather be doing that bring Nie Mingjue to lunch with his family and going to the dentist to have a root canal treatment still ranks pretty high up there compared to this.
“It will be fine,” Nie Mingjue tries to reassure him as they are getting ready and Jiang Cheng shakes his head.
“I will not be fine. Nothing about this will be fine. Mom has been strange for a while now, Wei Wuxian will be as annoying as ever, Yanli will only try to keep the peace when it’s for Wei Wuxian’s sake and my father—” He trails off here because there are not actually words for how badly his father is going to behave.
“You know nothing he says about you is right, correct, my heart?” Nie Mingjue carefully ventures and Jiang Cheng lets out a sharp breath.
“I know. I’m not worried about what he’ll say to me,” he then admits because he has long made his peace with the fact that his father is a neglectful, abusive asshole and that it’s not actually his fault. That also means that there is nothing he can do to change his father’s opinion of him, though, and it had taken Jiang Cheng quite a few therapy sessions to not only accept but also come to terms with that.
“Then what?” Nie Mingjue wants to know, taking Jiang Cheng’s hand in his own.
“I’m worried what he’ll say to you,” Jiang Cheng tells him. “I doubt he’ll be on his best behaviour today, it’s only family after all, and he’s not going to hold back. He’ll casually insult me but also you, if only by proxy and I might just be fed up enough with him that I am not going to let that stand.”
“You’re worried you’ll start a fight?”
“Well, it’s not really like you can start a fight with my father, he’s way too infuriatingly calm for that somehow. But I will want to and it’s not going to end pretty.”
“Did you talk today through with your therapist?” Nie Mingjue asks him with a smile because he knows Jiang Cheng way too well already.
“Of course I did,” he huffs out in reply. “She told me to simply do and say what feels best for me, with no regard for him since he doesn’t have any regard for me, either. It seems like sound advice but it could also backfire horribly.”
“You will be fine,” Nie Mingjue reassures him, leaning in for a quick kiss. “If things do escalate, I am still there as well after all. And I have your back, no matter what.”
It’s nice to know that Jiang Cheng has someone on his side who is there unconditionally but it might not be helpful for this evening. There are still so many ways today could mean he breaks with his family and despite all the therapy and all of Nie Mingjue’s love, he’s not sure if he’s ready for that.
“Let’s just get it over with. I’m glad it’s only lunch, though, because that means no matter what happens, we get to end the day on a nice note.”
“Yeah, I wondered about that. You usually have dinners right?”
“My mother planned this. I don’t know what’s up with her lately, she’s been a bit strange. Last week she told me to take care when we said goodbye on the phone and that never happened. I wonder if she’s sick.”
“Or maybe she just realized how awesome you are,” Nie Mingjue gives back and even though Jiang Cheng’s doubts it was meant to make him laugh, he can’t help it.
“Yeah, right,” he mutters but follows Nie Mingjue outside when he leaves for their car.
The car ride is over way too quickly and Jiang Cheng stares at the house, dread pooling in his gut. It’s going to be awful, he can already tell.
“Stop frowning, we haven’t even gone in yet,” Nie Mingjue chides him and Jiang Cheng heaves out a deep breath.
“Fine, fine,” he sighs out and makes a conscious effort to relax his face.
“Better,” Nie Mingjue decides and then kisses Jiang Cheng between the eyes because of course there must still be a furrow.
Jiang Cheng doesn’t even know if his face can do completely relaxed but he’s not about to ask Nie Mingjue that, at least not right now.
He braces himself before he goes to knock on the door and he’s not surprised when his mother practically yanks the door open.
“You’re—” she starts but then cuts herself off and that alone makes Jiang Cheng frown again. “I’m happy you’re here,” she then says instead and Jiang Cheng fights the urge to reach out and take her temperature.
“Hello, mom,” he says and then tugs on Nie Mingjue’s sleeve. “This is Nie Mingjue, my boyfriend.”
“It’s nice to meet you in this capacity now,” Nie Mingjue says with a slight bow and Jiang Cheng watches his mother open her mouth, close it again, visibly re-arrange whatever she wanted to say and then try again with: “It’s nice to finally meet you, Wanyin has been talking quite a lot about you, recently.”
It’s almost nice coming from his mother and Jiang Cheng tries his best to keep the confusion off his face.
Something must surely be going on here; maybe it will be a big family announcement that will leave Jiang Cheng devastated and Yu Ziyuan is just trying to soften the blow or something. Jiang Cheng wouldn’t put it past his family, after all.
“Do come in, lunch is almost ready,” Yu Ziyuan tells them and ushers them into the house with the same impatient gestures she always uses and now this Jiang Cheng can recognise.
“Don’t be fooled, she’s not normally this nice,” Jiang Cheng whispers as Nie Mingjue and he take their shoes off and Nie Mingjue shrugs.
“But it’s nice for now, isn’t it?” he asks and Jiang Cheng has to admit that it kind of is.
If only he wouldn’t be waiting for the other shoe to drop. But he can’t trust this yet and so he keeps his guard up at all times.
“Let’s just see how the rest of the day goes,” Jiang Cheng whispers and leads Nie Mingjue into the dining room.
His family is already there, milling around the room and Jiang Cheng briefly presses his lips together when he realizes that neither Jiang Yanli nor Wei Wuxian have brought their respective partners.
It seems as if his family wanted to make sure that all the scrutiny is on Nie Mingjue today.
“Just great,” Jiang Cheng bitterly mutters under his breath and Nie Mingjue briefly squeezes his hand.
“I can deal with that. I have dealt with worse,” he reassures him, clearly coming to the same conclusion Jiang Cheng has and while Jiang Cheng knows that Nie Mingjue is more than capable of dealing with a bit of scrutiny, he simply wishes he didn’t have to in this setting.
“I know,” Jiang Cheng sighs out and then forces a smile on his face when Jiang Yanli notices them.
“A-Cheng, how nice to see you,” she says and flutters her hands around Jiang Cheng’s from as if she wanted to fix something. “And Mingjue as well, how nice, how nice,” she babbles and Jiang Cheng’s worry instantly doubles.
His sister is never one for babbling and she’s also not someone who refuses to make eye-contact but she’s doing it today.
Something must be up.
“Ah, Chengcheng, you brought your mountain of a man,” Wei Wuxian also calls out at that moment and Jiang Cheng takes a deep breath at that.
It’s not technically an insult—yet—because Nie Mingjue is huge but to say it to his face? That’s more than tactless in Jiang Cheng’s opinion.
“Wei Wuxian,” Yu Ziyuan chides him almost immediately and even though her voice isn’t as cutting as they are all used to from her Wei Wuxian still shrinks back.
“My lady,” Jiang Fengmian reprimands Yu Ziyuan almost instantly and Jiang Cheng isn’t sure if he wants to sit down for lunch first before they start with the fighting or if he’d rather get it over with.
It’s not like it’s in his hands anyway, but it’s nice to think about the different possibilities if only to tune everything out.
“Well, are you simply going to let him speak like that to our guest?” Yu Ziyuan wants to know and Nie Mingjue darts a quick look at Jiang Cheng.
He only shrugs in answer though, because it’s not as if he has any control over this. And it is along the lines of what he told Nie Mingjue to expect from this lunch.
“It wasn’t meant like that, and besides. He’s right, isn’t he? Mingjue is rather—huge,” Jiang Fengmian says, eying Nie Mingjue up and down and his gaze is so judging, Jiang Cheng immediately feels like apologizing to Nie Mingjue.
He seems to simply shrug it off though, because he extends his hand towards Jiang Fengmian.
“Thank you for inviting me,” he says and he almost sounds sincere, which is quite the feat, in Jiang Cheng’s opinion.
“Yeah, we’re required to meet any new partners at least once, right?” Jiang Fengmian gives back as he takes Nie Mingjue’s hand and Jiang Cheng narrows his eyes at him.
“You’re going to meet him a lot more often, though, because I’m planning on keeping him,” Jiang Cheng says and he fights the urge to take a step back when his mother honest to god smiles at him.
“That is nice to hear, that you’re intending to make this work out,” she says and again, it’s just this shy of a compliment that it leaves Jiang Cheng a little bit floundering.
“Is it, though?” Jiang Fengmian muses, critically eying Nie Mingjue up again. “We all know about the temper problems of the Nie. I’m not sure we need any more of that in our family.”
It’s a clear side blow at Yu Ziyuan and Jiang Cheng, and honestly, Jiang Cheng couldn’t care less because he damn well knows he’s never going to change his father’s perspective of him, but for him to insult Nie Mingjue like that? Jiang Cheng can’t let that stand.
He’s just about to open his mouth when Nie Mingjue puts a steadying hand to the small of his back, slightly shaking his head at him. Jiang Cheng would love nothing more than to argue with him about that, but he presses his lips together instead.
Fine, if Nie Mingjue doesn’t want him defending his honour, then so be it.
“I think I have my temper just as well under control as Wanyin does,” Nie Mingjue gives back with a smile but of course Jiang Fengmian only huffs at him.
“So not at all, of course,” he says as if that is to be expected.
“Father,” Jiang Cheng says, his voice carrying a warning that is clearly lost on Jiang Fengmian. “He is a guest here, today,” he reminds him and Jiang Fengmian gives him his blandest smile.
“Of course he is. Thankfully only today, though, because you won’t be seeing him again after this,” he then declares and silence falls over the room.
“Fengmian,” Yu Ziyuan snaps out, her voice now carrying the bite Jiang Cheng was almost missing. “How dare you dictate who your son is seeing?”
“When it’s someone so wholly unsuitable as him, I exercise that right, of course.”
“Of course,” Yu Ziyuan huffs out mockingly. “But when Zixuan made your daughter cry several times and in public even, that was fine. And when Wangji almost molests Wei Wuxian at the dinner table, with no regards to social propriety, that’s also fine, am I right? No need to interfere there, but here you think you can tell your son what to do?”
“I can and I will,” Jiang Fengmian says. “Nie Mingjue has a reputation as a brutish and violent man and I will not stand for that in my household.”
“What you mean to say is that he pulverized the cooperation proposal you sent to him because it was entirely bullshit and you can’t deal with that,” Yu Ziyuan sums up and if Jiang Cheng wasn’t so angry on Nie Mingjue’s behalf he would laugh at the fact that his mother basically just called his father childish.
“Father, please think about what you’re going to say next because I will not allow you to speak like that about my boyfriend,” Jiang Cheng now chimes in as well even though Nie Mingjue is still motioning for him to stay quiet.
But Jiang Cheng will not stand for this; what kind of boyfriend would he even be if he allowed this?
“Wanyin, you will not be seeing him again,” Jiang Fengmian says again and Jiang Cheng clenches his hands to fists.
“You do not get to decide that,” he presses out. “You haven’t cared about my life before this, and you certainly don’t get to care about it now. So either you shut up right now, or you won’t like the consequences.”
“A-Cheng, please, don’t be rash,” Jiang Yanli soothingly says and steps in between Jiang Cheng and Jiang Fengmian. “There is no need to fight.”
“Oh, there absolutely is, if he thinks he can just say these things about Mingjue. You wouldn’t stand for it if he said those things about Zixuan.” He looks over at Wei Wuxian. “Or Lan Wangji, for that matter.”
“Ah, but Chengcheng, it’s all just in good faith, right? Aren’t you happy that Uncle Fengmian is worried about you?”
“Why would I be happy about that if he tries to paint my perfectly nice boyfriend as a violent man?” Jiang Cheng wants to know because he logic escapes him here.
“But he is exactly that,” Jiang Fengmian says, a small, confused frown on his face as if he couldn’t possibly understand how Jiang Cheng can’t see the truth. “We have all seen him with his brother after all.”
At that Nie Mingjue flinches slightly and Jiang Cheng immediately steps closer to press their arms together. Nie Huaisang is a bit of a sore topic for Nie Mingjue; even though they are mending their relationship as best as they can, there have been some things said between them that will need time to heal.
“That is enough,” Yu Ziyuan almost yells but of course Jiang Fengmian is completely unimpressed.
“She is right. One more word about this and you won’t like the consequences,” Jiang Cheng says as well and he is fully prepared to punch his father in the face should he say one more word on this topic.
“He’s probably abusing you just as he is abusing his brother,” Jiang Fengmian says despite the clear warnings and that’s it.
Jiang Cheng darts forward, his fist connecting with the side of Jiang Fengmian’s face and when he crumbles to the floor Jiang Cheng doesn’t even feel bad about it.
“A-Cheng!” Jiang Yanli yells out, rushing forward to Jiang Fengmian’s side and Wei Wuxian steps between them as if he needs to shield Jiang Fengmian from Jiang Cheng.
“How could you?” Jiang Yanli asks, her voice shaky and her eyes glistening with tears but before Jiang Cheng can find his voice, Yu Ziyuan steps in.
“I should hope that both of you would have done the same if anyone accused your spouses of abuse,” she sternly tells them. “If not, I would urge you to think about the consequences even such a rumour could have on your lives. Now, call him an ambulance if he needs one, or let him lay there for all that I care but I will see my son and his partner out now. You better have excuses ready for why you didn’t step up for your brother when I come back,” she says and then turns around to Nie Mingjue and Jiang Cheng.
“Come on, this was entirely unpleasant and you shouldn’t have to stay here,” she says, herding them towards the entrance.
Nie Mingjue looks a bit pale around the nose, so Jiang Cheng follows along without much complaint but once they are at the door he can’t help but to ask: “Mom, are you alright?”
Her behaviour is still strange and in all honesty it makes Jiang Cheng worry that something might be wrong with her.
“Everything is fine, my child,” she says and Jiang Cheng thinks he’s never heard her voice this soft. “I—have been attending therapy for a while now. I know there is a lot I have to make up for, but I would like to try. If you are amenable to that.”
“You’re going to therapy?” Jiang Cheng blurts out because he expected a lot but not that.
“Yes. When you moved out it was so clear that you didn’t expect anything from us—no help, no money, nothing—and it rubbed me the wrong way,” Yu Ziyuan admits. “After that I started to notice all the little things that have been going wrong in your life thanks to us so I talked to a good friend of mine and she advised me to talk to someone professional about this. It helps, at least I like to think that it does.”
“Wow,” Jiang Cheng breathes out.
“I would like to—well, make it up to you sounds as if this can be fixed, but I at least would like to try to build a proper relationship with you,” she says and it sounds so awkward that Jiang Cheng shudders.
Plus, he’s not completely convinced he can believe her.
“Lunch, once a month. You can prove how sincere you are then,” he decides even as he guides Nie Mingjue to put on his shoes.
He does so, but his moves are mechanical and Jiang Cheng worries.
“Sure. Now get your man home, he doesn’t seem so well.”
“He’s not. But thank you. And father—”
“Would do well to keep his mouth shut in the future,” Yu Ziyuan immediately says, much to Jiang Cheng’s amusement.
“Alright. Bye, mom,” he calls over his shoulder as he ushers Nie Mingjue towards the car.
“Bye, my son,” she calls after him and Jiang Cheng hates to admit it, but it makes him happy to hear her like that.
“My heart, are you alright?” he asks Nie Mingjue once they are in the car and Nie Mingjue slowly breathes out.
“I am not abusing you or my brother,” he then says and Jiang Cheng is quick to agree.
“You are not. Do you want me to call Huaisang?”
“I—yes, please,” Nie Mingjue slowly says and Jiang Cheng gets his phone out immediately, dialling the number and putting him on speaker before he even picks up.
“A-Cheng, hello,” Nie Huaisang cheerfully greets him but Jiang Cheng is not about to beat around the bush here.
“We just had a bit of a situation at lunch with my parents,” he explains and Nie Huaisang’s soft “Oh, oh,” is barely audible over the speaker. “My father accused Mingjue of abusing both of us.”
“Oh dear,” Nie Huaisang sighs out. “Is he there?” he then asks and Jiang Cheng hands the phone over to Nie Mingjue.
“Didi,” he breathes out. “I’m sorry.”
“There is nothing you have to apologize for. You never abused me. We both said some pretty hurtful shit when we had our fight but you never abused me, do you hear me?”
“I hear you,” Nie Mingjue whispers out and Jiang Cheng reaches over to take his hand.
“But do you believe me?” Nie Huaisang wants to know and then curses when Nie Mingjue stays silent. “Alright, change of plans, you two come here. Did you eat lunch? Doesn’t matter, you’ll do it again. I expect you in twenty,” he tells them and then hangs up on them.
“See, he doesn’t sound upset and he wouldn’t invite you over if he felt unsafe in your presence,” Jiang Cheng soothingly tells Nie Mingjue who seems to finally start to believe him.
“Alright,” he says with a nod and Jiang Cheng leans over to press a kiss to his brow.
“Good. Now let’s have an actual nice lunch and not whatever the hell this was.”
“Did you—punch your father for me?” Nie Mingjue suddenly asks. “And did your mother say she’s been going to therapy?”
Jiang Cheng allows himself a small laugh at that.
“Yes, to both. The former, especially, was very cathartic.”
“I can imagine,” Nie Mingjue wryly says and Jiang Cheng knows he will be okay when he smiles slightly at that.
Jiang Fengmian’s remark hit a very sore spot for Nie Mingjue but Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang will make sure to show him exactly how much they love him, no matter how much Nie Mingjue sometimes worries.
Nie Mingjue’s and Nie Huaisang’s relationship might have been bad once upon a time, for various reasons, but they both want to change that and are working so hard on it.
Jiang Cheng is just happy to support them both through that and if that includes punching his idiot father—well, he’s happy to do it again any time.

Idia will be terrified and even more so he be in his tablet form meet going a near world record of 5 kilometer
Poor shut in isn’t ready for these and even label them as extroverts
Yeah I wouldn’t call Lan Wangji or Jiang Cheng extrovert Idia
Funny thing is that Nie Huasiang or maybe Wangji can break into Idia exterior with no problem
Maybe even Sizhui cause Sizhui is good radish boi
It took some convincing and chill encounters for Idia to help out these boomers
Cause technology is vastly different
Even though Wei Wuxian is making talisman and invention somewhat similar to modern day but ancient style
Wei Wuxian and Idia will bond on invention and making new technologies
Wei Wuxian might even show Idia his notes and theories
Idia will be edged forward to the Junior quartet with Sizhui silent urging
He will stick to Sizhui, Yuu, Ortho, and even Ouyang
Like cmon!
Zizhen and Idia will bond on romance novels and simping for not alive girls
In different sense-!!
Nie Huasiang will most likely have Idia under his tutelage
Cause both be damn similar
Lan Wangji may seem cold like a certain tsuntoro—!
Idia will likely ramble about his games and such to the juniors and Wei Wuxian
Idia will enjoy the rabbit cuddle and not so much the burying but at least he has his hands out

Wei Wuxian: Wen Ning is an UR+ character!
Idia: No way, he must be a SSR+ Character!
Wen Ning: *pikachu face* ?????
Definitely interact in a way but takes some convincing
Ortho:
Similar to Kalim, he is welcoming them all!

Zizhen will light up and ask any questions regarding if Ortho knows any fair maiden
Child. No.
Sizhui just gonna be the mediator and mom friend of the three
Ortho is overwhelmed but who cares!
Will definitely rate each scoville level of Wei Wuxian cookings and record them as entertainment
He just happy to have new friends honestly.
Also. Bunnies piles and being buried? YES.
He gonna be buried in bunnies and be surrounded by radishes with a happy face.
Someone draw the bunnie pile PLEASE!
Diasomnia Dorm:
Malleus:
He will definitely respect these people as they have lived longer than him.
Literally.
Will want to know EVERYTHING!
Will definitely be invited no matter what!
I mean, how did you think Wei Wuxian got his fuddy duddy?
Lan Qiren gonna see him as his youngest nephew
Wangji and Malleus be bonding like quiet bros
Definitely talking about bunnies and gargoyles!
Just a whole bunch of bunnies hopping around while these “cold” duo converse in calm manner
Wei Wuxian drawing go BRRRRRRRRRR
The Junior Quartet aren’t scared of Malleus at all. He just gives the same vibes his Angry Grape Uncle and Hanguang-jun (Lan Wangji)
Jingyi will strike a convo with Malleus and definitely waves to him
Dragon boi happy stat go BRRRRRRRRR
Like Lan Xichen will INVITE him for tea
Lan Qiren will ACKNOWLEDGE HIM
Jiang Cheng will TREAT him NORMALLY
Nie Huasiang just gonna be Nie Huasiang but WILL get to know Malleus better
He even suggest to be in the gargoyle club.
Definitely makes fan of gargoyle for malleus
Wei Wuxian gonna talk to him like a little brother
Will toss him in bunnies and be buried with gargoyle scarecrow around
Cause I’m his vignettes, any gargoyle must have some kind of use or else it’s just useless
Definitely will be happy that these cultivators treat him as normal
Cause they faced way weirder and worse
Malleu honey, you can’t even compare to the people these men meet
Definitely enjoys Wei Wuxian storytelling and babying
Will make fun of Leona suffocating under bunnies
Very curious of the cultivation world and Wei Wuxian works
All in all. He is happy~!!

Will tease Lan Qiren and Jiang Cheng
Quite curious and had a pleasant convo with Nie Huasiang
Respects Lan Xichen and Jiang Cheng
Sees them both as good leaders and let Malleus hang out to learn more
Thing is that both aren’t really good in the inside if ya know what I mean?
Those who knows. Knows. Those who don’t. Dont.
Lilia definitely amused by Lan Qiren almost qi deviation and will ask about this illness among the cultivators
Want to learn more of the cultivation world and it’s history
SAY HELLO TO SUNSHOT CAMPAIGN
He is weirdly invested in the campaign and how. It. Go. Down.
Like the events and how it led up was from these people standing before him.
Cough cough.
Lilia gonna be amused by the PDA of the shameless couple and Wei Wuxian irrational fear
Definitely teases Wei Wuxian about who teases him back
I smell vinegar from a certain Lan.
Yeah…after that. No one slept. It can be heard from even at RSA.
Lilia gets the messages and backs off even though he was merely gossiping with a fellow comrade
Definitely invested in music cultivation and demonic cultivation
Never was something he has seen before
Happy that these people accepted malleus
Will ACTUALLY help to bury any of the kiddos lmao!
He gonna be a happy old bat with these old men too.
Silver:
Somewhat got buried in bunnies before Wei Wuxian initiated
Partly adopted but adopted regardless
He is sleepy which Lan Xichen worries about
Lilia had to reassure that Silver has slow metabolism and it’s normal
So the Junior quartet kinda just picked him up with them to hang out whenever seen
Silver will get some duels on the sword with each of the juniors
They will definitely trade tips on their swordsmanship
He finds solace nearby Lan Xichen
Lan Xichen be a comfort level literally and figuratively
Basically is chill and got adopted twice lmao
Mama Wei and Mama Lilia be taking care of this sleepy boi
Sebek:
Silencing spell right on the spot
Just silenced
Cannot open mouth unless he wanna be some kind of creepy guy with ripped lips
He learned his lessons to lower his voice for once
Everyone celebrated this
PRAISE THE LAN SPELLS!!!
Sebek knows not to be loud towards the Lan
Wangji does not take loudness unless it’s from his WiFi
Lan Qiren almost shouted and lecture Sebek lol
Lilia is enjoying the whole show while comforting a silenced sulking crocodile at a corner
Sebek almost run his mouth so Jin Ling being Jin Ling walked up to him.
Jin Ling: first time? *smirks*
Sebek: *cannot say anything beside mumbles and jumbles*
Yeah…these two kinds clash a bit before setting their differences 1 month later.
It took fricking one month to settle their dispute.
He definitely learns to be quiet when needed
Definitely finds Wei Wuxian sus until he saw how they all treated malleus
Sebek: *crying tears and wiping it with doting face* sniff It’s been so long since Lord Malleus was so joyful! Sniff
He will learn….eventually..
Definitely tossed in bunny pile and buried beside malleus
Adoption paper go BRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

One line any fic! Rules: pick ten of your fics, scroll to somewhere midpoint, pick a line chunk and share it, and then tag ten people.
I got tagged by @lynne-monstr ^_^
I’ve selected semi-randomly, going back through and revisiting some of my old faves as well as some of my newer stuff, going to the chapter exactly in the middle, and choosing from there. I included only one WIP, because it’s one of my current faves and it needs more love.
1) up in flames (Not Me, 2022)
“I did what I had to do. And even now, Black is still a bad influence on you! Even after everything I did to keep him away from you!”
Fury erupted in White like a forest fire, and he lunged forward. He was brought up short by Gumpa grabbing him around the waist, actually lifting him off his feet as he struggled to get free. “Where’s my brother?” he shouted. “What did you do to him? Where’s Black?!”
His mother’s mouth pursed even tighter. She took a step backwards, then turned on her heel and left, slamming the door behind her.
“No! Tell me!” White fought harder to get free. “Mom! Tell me where Black is! Tell me what you did to him!”
2) 10 Things I Hate About Dating at Gusu Academy (The Untamed, 2021)
“Look what I can do,” Lan Wangji said, and before Wei Wuxian could stop him, did a handstand.
“Very impressive,” Wei Wuxian told him.
Lan Wangji’s shirt, which was too big on him, promptly fell around his ears. Wei Wuxian took a moment to really appreciate that. Lan Wangji’s chest was pristine, an ocean of skin that Wei Wuxian wanted to lick every single inch of. Then a muffled voice said, “Wei Ying. I cannot see. I require assistance.”
3) Adult Wolf (Teen Wolf, 2019)
Tom looks down in amusement at the sofa, where Stiles is sprawled out on top of Derek. “I brought breakfast,” he says, shaking Stiles’ shoulder.
Stiles stirs and mumbles, “The eagles are coming . . .”
Tom snorts. “Why couldn’t the eagles just take the damned ring to Mordor? That’s what I want to know.”
“Actually,” Derek chimes in, without opening his eyes, “there are several good reasons why that wouldn’t work. First of all, the eagles aren’t a taxi service. They’re proud, sentient beings and would have had a lot of good reasons not to risk their lives doing that. Secondly, secrecy was key to Frodo’s mission. The eagles would draw a lot of attention, and since Sauron and Saruman both had spies everywhere – ”
“Nerrrrrrrrd,” Stiles says into Derek’s chest, snickering.
4) Setting Fire to a Stone (Shadowhunters, 2016)
“Mm.” Magnus shook his head. “Are you familiar with the sunk cost fallacy?”
Alec looked away. “Yeah.”
“Then you understand that while what you’re saying makes sense, you still shouldn’t allow it to persuade you. Yes, you have wasted time trying to please your mother. But that doesn’t mean that the logical thing to do is continue to waste time even though you’ve concluded that you’ll never get where you want to be. There’s an old proverb which I think applies here: no matter how far you have gone down the wrong road, turn back.”
“It’s just – making her happy is the only thing I’ve ever wanted.” Alec studied his hands. “I’m not sure I even know how to want anything else.”
5) What Goes Around (Teen Wolf, 2018)
When Derek doesn’t reply, Stiles reaches out and twines his fingers through Derek’s. “Look, it’s okay to just mark time for a while. In case nobody’s ever told you that. It’s okay to not be ready to move on from what happened.”
“Thanks,” Derek says.
Stiles leans over and gives him a brief kiss on the mouth, then pulls away and says, “Now let’s get some sleep. I have big plans for tomorrow. I wanna try a reverse cowboy.”
6) picking up the pieces (The Untamed, 2021)
Nie Huaisang had grabbed a dozen lotus seed pods on their way past them as Lan Wangji controlled the boat, and studiously began to remove and shell the seeds. “And that,” he said, “is how to have a private conversation without drawing the attention of absolutely everybody. Honestly, Lan-xiong, do you have any idea how subtle you aren’t? Just showing up at The Unclean Realm for the first time in two years, immediately stating we needed to talk privately, and then shielding the room?” He shook his head. “Honestly.”
Lan Wangji felt his cheeks flush pink. “I was not trying to be subtle.”
“Yes, you were. That’s the appalling part.” Nie Huaisang popped a lotus seed in his mouth. “Because if you hadn’t been, you would have just told me everything that was going on. You didn’t want me to realize there was more to what you were saying than what you said, but you might as well have shouted it from the rooftops.”
7) That was Then, This is Now (Teen Wolf, 2014)
“Damn, I’m sore. I remember when I could sleep in that treehouse without a single knot in my shoulders afterwards. Are we getting old, Christopher?”
“Maybe,” Chris said. “Allison’s turning nine this year. Melissa’s probably going to be divorced within a year if Rafael keeps this shit up. Laura’s talking about what colleges she wants to apply to. Claudia’s dead . . .”
Peter raked a hand back through his hair. “Hey, Chris,” he said, and the werewolf gave him a questioning look. Peter gave him an impish smile and said, “Catch me if you can,” and then bolted off into the woods. Chris laughed despite himself, and followed.
8) Whatever Works (Teen Wolf, 2016)
“Oh, now you have faith in me to handle this?” Stiles loses his temper and gets in Peter’s face. “You arrogant piece of shit! I’m not one of your faint of heart little secretaries that you can walk all over. I’m not some company lawyer who quakes in fear when I hear your name. You cannot do things behind my back and then tell me that you did it that way because you respect me. That is the most concentrated heap of bullshit! You don’t fucking respect me at all! And do you want to know what, Peter? You know how you kept asking me why I was doing this? Yeah, it was to help Derek, because I like Derek. And yeah, it was because Jennifer pissed me off. But it was also because I can’t fucking stand the way you look at me! Ever since we met, you treat me like some God damned second class citizen just because I have the terrible fucking luck to be your soulmate! I thought maybe, just maybe, I could use this as a way to show you that I’m smarter than you think I am. I thought maybe you would respect me if I could play your game. But I’m not smart, apparently. I’m a fucking idiot, because I should have known better to think that you would ever think of me as anything but – ”
He gets that far before Peter shoves him up against the wall and kisses him.
9) Like a House on Fire (The Untamed, 2020)
“I’m not sure I’ll remember this later,” Meng Yao continued. “I feel very fuzzy. It’s warm and good. You should record me in case I forget.”
“If you’d like,” Lan Xichen said, amused despite himself. He pulled out his phone and started recording. “There, you’re on camera.”
“Hello, future me,” Meng Yao said. “You might not remember this because of the massive amounts of painkillers I’m on right now. So we are recording, for posterity, because when I am sober I am not going to say this. You just survived getting shot. Go you. You are a rock star. You should stop dicking around and ask Lan Xichen out. Stop saying you aren’t good enough for him. See above, rock star.” His eyes closed for a brief moment while Lan Xichen turned an even darker pink. Then they opened and he said, “Okay, stop recording. You’re so pretty. Do you like Italian food?”
10) Stranger Twins (Not Me, 2022 [WIP])
Abruptly, Black collapsed. Gram and Sean both cried out in alarm as he went down like a marionette whose strings had been cut. White landed half on top of him, and Gumpa hurried over. He was about to say something, but then he saw the look on White’s face as he stared down at his brother. Almost blank, jaw ajar, stunned.
Then he smiled, a smile full of relief and love and joy, the most beautiful smile Gumpa had ever seen. “Phi,” he murmured, and gently touched Black’s cheek. “I found you.”
I don’t know ten people and I don’t know who’s already done this meme so I’m tagging anyone who wants to play!

*During a night hunt*
Jingyi: You're not my mom!
Wei Wuxian: I don't act like a mom. A-Yuan, do I act like a mom?
Lan Sizhui: Well, I...
Wei Wuxuan: A-Yuan, stop rubbing your eyes and speak clearly when you talk!
Lan Sizhui, automatically: Yes, A-niang.

tell me the name of god, you fungal piece of shit - oriflamme, 46k, ffvii/annihilation (2018) fusion
What would it be like to die here? What do you want to be when you rot? I want flowers seeping out of my jaw, snaking around my bones. I want something to grow out of me.   - It starts the night that Zack comes home.
We Are Not Wise - Boomchik/Suzoomie, 52k, svsss
When Shen Qingqiu drew Shen Yuan’s soul sword, it felt like being burned from the inside out. The fire wasn’t cruel, but it was still fire—hot and destructive, searing the softest pieces of him. When Binghe’s fingers touch the hilt, he is ready for pain. - Transmigrated into a version of Proud Immortal Demon Way where cultivators manifest their own souls into spiritual weapons, Shen Yuan finds himself sort of kind of…accidentally blackmailing Shen Qingqiu into taking him on as a disciple before Luo Binghe joins the sect. That should give Shen Yuan plenty of opportunities to make sure nothing goes wrong for his favorite protagonist, right? RIGHT!?
clay kids - suzukiblu, atla, 35k, uncomplete, T
“I don’t think you want someone like me in your group,” Lee says, stepping back, and Jet steps forward quick and grabs his wrist. “Believe me, you don’t know what I want,” he tells him, his eyes intent on Lee’s. On Lee’s gold eyes. “I get it, man. Dirty little secret. You think you’re the only one who’s got it? Me, I got off lucky—I take after my mom.”
The Accumulation of Small Happinesses - sugar_shoal, mdzs/the untamed, 22k, M
“Uh,” Wei Wuxian says. “Like… yeah. For real! Like obviously this wasn’t exactly the best way to bring it up, but look at you! Gorgeous. Capable. My bff-cum-bf. A dilf of the highest order, or, if you want to get technical, a jilf. Lan Zhan and I’ve definitely gotta lock that down. Let’s get married!” And then he gives Jiang Cheng double finger guns. --- Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji attempt to propose to their boyfriend. It takes a few tries.
animals of regret - tteokcrossing, 10k, jjk, T
So it’s not exactly a shock when he opens his mouth, blue eyes sparkling from behind dark sunglasses (and it’s odd that he’s chosen to wear his glasses here instead of his blindfold; odd to know that Six Eyes trusts him in some weird, skewed way for the simple fact that they both care for a child who deserves more than Toji can give him) and says: “I want you to teach at Jujutsu Tech.” It’s not a shock, because Gojo has said more ridiculous things with a straighter face than the one that resides on his features now. Toji throws his head back and laughs. Gojo does not. “Oh,” says Toji. “You’re not joking.” --- or: Toji lives. Neither teaching nor parenting are his strong suits, but he ends up stuck with both.

The Untamed has only made me cry twice, but dear god the times it did--
I've gotten close to sobbing a lot (like with jyl, that one killed me. but still didn't cry). But the two times I actually did wind up crying was with Jiang Cheng after their parents died and with Jin Ling on the pier when he breaks down.
maybe it's the repressed childhood trauma but those two moments remind me of why I love this series so freaking much.
Saving your dashboards: analysis under cut
With JC, specifically, it was after he fights wwx in the field -- when he collapses in the grass and starts sobbing and screaming "I want my mom, I want my dad, I want my people/friends/clan..." because in that moment, after he's just blamed wei wuxian for everything that's happened, wearing zidian on his wrist, jiang yanli waiting for them unaware of what's just passed. After that, he just breaks down and becomes a little kid again. He's lost so much, doesn't know if he'll ever get to go back home. He watched his mother beat wwx, watched their father leave them behind, feeling more alone than ever despite still having his siblings by his side because he was supposed to be able to protect them all. He's supposed to be the future clan sect leader, how can he not even hold his own ground? His own home? He's broken and confused bc now it all depends on him and he's never been good enough for all this. "cultivation is his life," but when you have a brother like the great future Yiling Patriarch... he just wants his family all together again, calling out for his parents like a child waking up from a nightmare in the dark, trying to regain their surroundings.
Then with Jin Ling, he's on the pier heading to Yunmeng and he should be okay, he should be fine because he has his uncles still -- he does, he does. He won't admit anything about jin guangyao yet. But... now he has another uncle? The one who named him, never got to meet him, killed his dad and his mother and hundreds of others in his family and the other clan sects-- but Oh god, here's The Ghost General who killed his dad and he's talking to Lan Suzhui and he's getting so close. Jin Ling doesn't have friends, but LSZ has always been kind; he backed him up in the Burial Mounds, always ready to see all sides of things, maybe the only one left who would understand if Jin Ling could admit all the turmoil in his mind, the feelings he refuses to address towards the people he's been raised to hate -- people that could've been his family. But Wen Ning tries to touch LSZ and no, no no no not again, I can't do this again-- and he tries to draw his father's sword because even if he will never know that peacock, jl knows he's always protecting him. because it's too much to think about his mother protecting him through the yiling patriarch. But then the other juniors gang up against him to protect LSZ bc he just pushed him and oh god he just pushed him, he was supposed to protect him and now the Yiling Patriarch is here and he's looking at LSZ like that, like how he should look at jin ling but he can't because they're not family, not anymore. And Wen Ning calls him Jin Roulan and no, don't say that name, don't remind me but Wei Wuxian looks back at him and calls to him, warns him but doesn't glare or scream or hurt him. He just tells him to put the sword away and no no no this is all I have left of him, please don't so he holds the sword in its sheath and sobs. He collapses on the pier and cries, wailing without humiliation because all he can think about it how everyone must hate me for things to be this way bc he's just a kid that grew up without parents. Just a kid with Jin Guangyao as his father's memory and Jiang Cheng as his mother's (which, really doesn't do either of them justice no matter how much jc and even jgy might try, bc they can never be their siblings). Because he pushes everyone away. Because he doesn't dare get close to anyone else just to lose them again. Because his uncle might be the cause of all this suffering. Because his other uncle -- that he's never claimed -- was supposed to be behind all this, all sixteen years of his life spent hating him. Because his other uncle is hurt and crass and desperate to protect him but can never really give him what jiang yanli would have. But he's all jin ling has left, so he runs to him and away from all the others even if it burns him.
TLDR: Idk, just really sobbed at those spots where they both just act so much like little kids because Jiang Cheng just lost his childhood while Jin Ling never got to have one.

2, 6, 12 for ask game
Thank you 💓💓💓
2. A pet peeve
At work when we are having like the 4th meeting about an upcoming event and some guy who is there for the first time decides to interrupt with their hot takes and then the leaders decide to listen to that guy just because that guy has a degree and we are forced to completely change the core idea of the event. This is very specific but I'm ready throw tables and scream and yell and quit my job at times like that. And it is a constant at this point. We can't plan anything until the stars of our collective have spoken but they don't bother to show up unless it is a week before the event. Ugh. Sorry.
6. Favourite cold-weather drink
Oolong tea!
12. A story or character that you are rotating in your head right now
Idk if this is supposed to be about media I've consumed (then it's Wei Wuxian obviously) but if it's about something original then
There has been this idea of the future when there would have been a prognosis of the world ending (well years in advance), and a business of evacuating people from earth. However, when the day comes, nothing happens. The earth would stand and some people who thought they were going to die would not. And the main character would be a poor girl who spent all her money to send her mom away, and a rich genetically designed girl whose parents left her behind because she was mentally ill (seeing hallucinations that would actually turn out to be the ability to see the dead). The two would meet and enemies to lovers would begin. There would also be cool side characters like a student who stayed because they didn't agree with the prediction, but they didn't say anything because they weren't sure.
If I ever ran out of fanfiction ideas I might actually write that. Who knows. Might never do anything about it.

For the new year fanfic ask game: 2, 8, and 18? <3
List of questions here.
<3
2. Will you participate in any fandom exchanges or fic challenges, etc?
Depends on workload with rl I will get this year tbh. And before participating I would love to at least finish/be close to finishing to multchapt fics this year.
But by the end of each year I'm reminded of timdami week and each year I tell myself that I will finally participate, so who knows? who knows...
8. Is there a story idea in your mental vault that you’ve never been brave enough to try writing? Is this the year? Can you tell us about it?
I think I have more than one, tbh.
One is actually a prompt I got, about Helena Sandsmark being kind of a team-mom for Young Justice team. At first I had some general idea, but I was stopped by Helena's characterization actually - I wasn't sure what to write without her wanting to abolish the team (because she worries about them!) and yet somehow letting them safe the world. I would still need to do some research and planning first, but I think I have some vague character arc for her.
The other category of ideas I was not brave enough to try writing is... smut xD
But maybe I'll finally try while working on this one mdzs idea for a fic... The whole thing starts during Cloud Recess school era - where our teenage repressed protagonist, lan wangji, is finally having enough of being ridiculed and targeted by the school troublemaker, wei wuxian. And the incident of wwx showing him (GAY!) pornography was the last straw (was the fucker insinuating something??? huh?!). Therefore lwj decides to get revenge... by writing gay erotica with wwx (but with changed name) being main character.
The problem is, lwj has high standards for himself and is shit at writing smut and by the time he gets better og novel plots move on, but who knows? Maybe that experience will help him realize something? Who knows.
(yeah that fic is absolutely an excuse for me trying to write smut).
18. Do you typically post multi-chapters as you write, or finish it all and then start posting? Would you like to change your posting method?
Why would you ask me that xD *points at all my published and not finished multi-chapter fic on ao3* Why xD
Ok, so I don't think I would be able to write the whole thing before publishing, especially if it would be long-ass multichapter fic. At some point, I wouldn't be able to wait to share with others. HOWEVER, I would like to start having some amount of chapters ready (idk 4-5? for very long? 2-3 for shorter?) before I publish fics, so I would have some buffer chapters.
In general, I'd like to update according to some schedule. So, unless I felt like writing a one-shot, I'm trying to wait with publishing/updating currently.
