okay but you can’t tell me that at least one of the cantinas/saloons on tatooine didn’t have some kind of star wars equivalent of a mechanical bull (mechanical krayt dragon maybe??) and that my hickboy beloved luke skywalker wasn’t down there every weekend getting sloshed and absolutely rodeoing the shit outta that thing- like there is a plaque out there with his name on it for being the krayt dragon riding champion of mos eisley (you also can’t tell me that at some point he didn’t try to brag that fact up to din and din just laughed and was like ‘i kinda wrangled a real one once’ and that lukes head almost exploded from how hot that is)

thinking about dinluke and just like… how intimate just sharing a bed is for them. cause like, on one hand you have luke who grew up an only child and was immediately thrown into wartime efforts the second he left home. going from a presumably single bed in the homestead to more single, cramped bunks on different rebel bases if he’s lucky, but just sleeping wherever he can, be it curled up on the deck of the falcon or sitting upright against a wall after a mission debrief- then later, on a small, lonely bed on yavin. and then on the other hand you have din, who grew up in the covert. surrounded by other foundlings we can presume he probably either shared a room with other kids or had one of his own, but for the sake of it im going with option one, where he grew up sharing a room and enjoying the comfort and security it brought to be surrounded by others after losing his family as a child. and then to grow up. titled beroya for his covert. but in doing so finds himself on the crest for months at a time, his sleeping quarters small and cramped and so so alone. and then im just thinking about when the two of them get together it’s this meeting of similar yet vastly different worlds where luke has never really known the act of sharing a bed or a room with anyone and din had been surrounded and comforted by closeness for his entire life but hasn’t been able to have that as an adult. they meet and it’s suddenly this great intimacy for the both of them to just lay together. sometimes touching, sometimes not, but their bed becomes a place for not just physically intimacy but for emotional. where they go to just spend time together and breathe in the grounding love of having someone there with you… yeah. been thinking about that.

okay but dinluke are absolutely that couple who whenever someone does or says some stupid shit they just give each other ‘The Look’ - like the ‘are you seeing what im seeing?’ look, and it’s always perfectly on time and in synch, like it doesn’t even matter that din has his helmet on, they’re just so on the exact same brainwave when they deal with bullshit that whenever something happens and luke looks over he can tell from the tilt of his head that din is looking back at him, in an equal amount of exasperation/judgement/disbelief as luke is- and i love that for them but like in all seriousness (and ive talked about this before) i think that’s what makes dinluke as a pairing so interesting and compelling- it’s because they are so compatible! it’s because they would be able to understand each other on such a deep level. their character parallels are so vastly similar yet different in a way that lends itself to creating this dynamic where you know these two characters would be able to speak without speaking- connect and read each other in a very intimate manner because they fully know how the other thinks- even in the ways where they differ and it’s so so fun to think about

honestly before junior year i was just kind of a neutral fan of kristen but this season i am just going feral for her and this last ep especially just has me feeling gut-punched and physically ill like the way she clutches cassandras shards to her chest before turning to see tracker??? that subtle but so desperate act of needing comfort and strength from her god??? the way that ever since she lost cassandra she’s spared no moment to try and reach out to her. in the forest with the bodies of lucy and yolanda. in reaching for spells she does not have to try and help her friends. in praying anyway, even if she’s unsure if cassandra can hear her, asking for guidance. in calling her gods name in a world of crystalline rage and fire. in reaching out toward the mirror, trying yet again to make that connection, to place her hand against cassandras. each of these acts at once an act of faith and doubt. kristen is fighting her way back to the god she pushed away, having lost so much already, and in doing so is finding what it means to her to be a cleric, not what was forced upon her. and how despite it all she is still the most powerful and talented cleric of her time and i an uNWELL

thinking about luke (again) and lately my mind keeps getting dragged back to the moment in a new hope when he comes back to find the homestead burned and owen and beru gone- and how in that moment there’s not this great exclamation of grief from luke, but just a single look of devastation on his face and that always sends me down a spiral about grief because yeah- grief can be like that, especially giant, all-consuming, world-altering grief. no screaming at the sky. no tears. just silence. shock. and after that luke gets up and goes on to save the galaxy. but what really stops me- what i really keep coming back to- is just thinking about afterwards, after the second death star gets destroyed- how there must have been a moment where he just went ‘oh’ because where was he to go then? because that’s one of the things i think is so easy to overlook, because unlike leia with alderaan and how overt and obvious it is she can never go home, with luke and tatooine its quieter, more like one of those awful revelations that unfurl in your belly- because he could go back, but what to? and i think it’s from such an awful moment that we get this beautiful nature from within luke of wanting to build a home for others with his school and there is something about that, that idea of him really getting to turn the worst moment and feeling in his life into a mission to help others, that once again just endears me to him so through how absolutely human he is and i will never stop talking about it

back on my country boy luke bullshit because i will absolutely die on that hill and im just thinking about how luke grew up and how that boy surely has absolutely zero filter - like that kid was raised on a farm in the middle of nowhereville tatooine you cannot tell me he didn’t hear some of the most wild, blush-worthy and creative cuss words from both beru and owen- and like all there really was to do was hang out with the same three people so i just think luke is used to saying the most batshit things without a second thought cause really that’s just how a lot of small town/country kids are- so im just imagining luke catching people off guard by just having the filthiest mouth that they’ve ever heard, like he’s this poised, professional jedi but ever other word out of his mouth is a swear and if you have any length of conversation with him he’ll probably end up talking about his husband din and their son grogu and there will be at least one highly confusing farming analogy in there that he’ll have to poorly explain for the next forty minutes

the thing i really love about dinluke is that yeah, the characters on a fundamental level work really well together because of their parallels with religion and their steadfast beliefs and how insanely powerful they both are in their own ways, but they are also the two most touch starved people i have ever seen - like warriors being soft and gentle with each other is one thing, but din and luke??? din and luke who have both tucked themselves away from the world, who have fought and clawed and killed for everything they have- din and luke who have both been, objectively, lonely people- finally giving in to the gentleness and care the other has to offer? oh. oh. i just keep thinking that it was first time they touch, no armour, no robes, just the softest, most innocent touch, where the resolve between them crumbled. both of them feeling that full-body, high energy feeling of someone else just touching you. shaking hands and hitching breaths. an all consuming feeling of comfort- of rightness- of allowing this person to give what has been denied. to wash the blood and dirt and pain away and see what’s underneath. beyond the helmet and beyond the titles. you cannot tell me that din and luke wouldn’t be the most tender with one another, seeking out touch at times for nothing more than reassurance. to feel that boundless connection that binds them together in the force, racing across their skin. allowing themselves to finally break from fighting, and rest instead.

i think what made the last episode of kenobi, and the kenobi show as a whole, so special is because it really just reminded us that the heart of star wars is love.
we see it full force with beru and owen. both willing to do anything to protect luke. put their lives on the line for him. we see it in beru immediately jumping into action. we see it in owen's claiming of luke as his own. his son. their son. in the looks on their faces when they see luke again, the utter fear that he may be gone. because while obi-wan could most likely feel him in the force, for one gut wrenching moment owen and beru thought their boy was gone.
we see it in breha and bail. their odd, funny little girl finally home and you can just feel their joy. their pride when leia is unapologetically herself. and how when obi-wan talks to leia about her birth parents, she instead looks to them. those who have raised her with a fierce love and kindness. how when she looks to them, they look back with so much love.
we see it in obi-wan and anakin. obi-wan apologizing to anakin, and we have to wonder how long those words have been building inside him? and then the tragic acceptance that there is no longer that person there to love. that his ten years of grief, maybe longer, was over something that was not his fault, that he could have never succeeded in preventing. but at the same time, we know that obi-wan still holds his love for anakin. it's just that darth vader isn't him.
and don't even get me started on obi-wan and his love for luke and leia. how leia was the one to pull him from his isolation. become the man he was again. how watching over luke is his motivation to stay that way. how thinking about them literally is what gives him the strength to pull himself up from the ground. honestly obi-wan and the twins deserve their own post.
star wars has always been a story about love. it can, after all, ignite the stars. and the kenobi finale has captured that fully, making it feel like the most truly star wars show in ages.

i don’t care what anyone else says luke skywalker is a mamas boy through and through.
like someone at tosche station makes a shitty remark about beru never having her own kids? decked right in the face no hesitation. something inside the homestead breaks down? lukes got it fixed in an instant. beru hasn’t had enough to drink one day? he’s topping up her glass from his if he has to. a fight with biggs? he’s talking to beru about it the second he’s home. they spend hours together in the evenings reading or discussing droid upgrades together and luke always brings her back little trinkets for the kitchen and living room whenever he goes to town. holding her arm whenever they go into town together, strolling through the stalls aimlessly, pointing out things and chatting. beru teaches him about different star patterns, sitting out together, laying on the domed roof of the homestead, a tradition they carry on even after luke has far surpassed her in knowledge of the stars.
and later, luke taking every spare second he can to read books about the history of naboo and it’s young queen. tracing his fingers over the pages of her painted face and trying his hardest to pick out features similar to his own. how he’ll sit and reach into the force and try to find another scrap of memory about her, reaching for a flash of a feeling, a fleeting imagine, anything but the nothing he remembers. how luke will travel to naboo once a year to visit the tomb of the mother he never got to meet, but loved him enough to give her life, and lay flowers at the feet of the statue there in her honour. how he slowly works small pieces of naboo culture into his everyday practices, taking silent moments to sketch and compose poetry once he learns how important art is to its people.
because dont get me wrong, i love talking about the various father figures he’s had in his life and how owen, obi wan and anakin have all played their part in his development as a character, but i think it is a great tragedy to overlook how important beru and padme are to what makes luke luke as well and damn it if it doesn’t just make so much sense for his character because of how he interacted with all the paternal figures in his life that luke is just much more of a mamas boy at heart than anything else.

what’s your favorite luke outfit and why?
oh anon i love you for asking this question
this is such a good question genuinely because luke has so many good looks, like compared to some other characters i think his would be easy to overlook and i don’t think people understand how many he has but believe you me he 100% does
now, before i say my favourite i have to do the honourable mentions of luke fits i love which include: tatooine poncho luke, throne room yellow jacket luke, dagobah training fit luke, rotj all black luke and, of course, ‘aren’t you a little short to be a stormtrooper?’ plastoid armour luke
but, my absolute favourite luke outfit was his orange x-wing fighter pilot jumpsuit! first of all, the design of it is just so fun, like there is something so appealing about the orange and vest and all the straps- it’s just the right mix of future meets past and i love it! and second, and maybe most important, luke looks so happy in it. i think it’s such an important part of lukes character that he wanted to be a pilot so badly and how he finally got to be one but only for a short time, but in that time he established himself as one of the best pilots in all of star wars- and it’s that glowing joy we see when luke is all suited up that just makes me love the flightsuit fit the most

dinluke d&d romance where din and luke are both pretty popular players from two different online shows - dins group a bit more classic d&d and luke’s table plays a more relaxed, experimental game- but they end up collaborating together as a players in a mini charity campaign and from the moment they meet luke is just smitten with din’s quiet charm and encyclopedic knowledge of the game that makes him the more chaotic player in the room and he’s so immediately attracted to him that luke makes it his mission to make din’s character fall in love with his - only to remember he made a joke character that was voted on by fans- so instead of trying to romance din’s stalwart half-elf paladin as a fire genasi bard named Burnz Stuph, luke just really earnestly tries to make them best friends while also letting the story-telling happen naturally, following the dice and having things play out as they may and whatnot- and he gets so caught up in just playing the game he loves that it takes him by complete surprise when at the end of their little campaign din’s characters asks his out that luke ends up falling off his chair (yes, it becomes a meme)- cause it turns out that while he was so engrossed in the game he failed to notice that he was, indeed, successfully romancing both din and his pc and that both of their collective fandoms have been freaking out over their chemistry and the pc romance and luke. hadn’t. noticed. anyways, at the wrap party afterwards din asks luke out for real and they become one of those beloved d&d couples who play in campaigns together every now and then and one day in the future they hold another charity event where they bring back their characters from that first one they ever played together and din surprises luke by proposing and they break the nerd internet for a bit

been having thoughts™️ about dinluke as youtube chefs where dins channel is something akin to binging with babish- very chill, instructional vibes where he doesn’t show his face and wants the attention to be on what he’s creating rather than himself, but the wit, sarcasm and charm in his scripts are a big factor that keep people coming back- luke on the other hand has a channel that’s something more along the lines of matty matheson- just diving into a recipe with as little preamble as possible, swearing loudly every second word and going off on little tangents that kind of relate to what he’s doing, but are mostly just him saying the most random bullshit, but at the end he has this fantastic looking dish prepared- and like between their channels they’re both really popular so for like a charity event or something they’re paired together to film a couple “cooking with” style videos and everyone is prepared for it to be super awkward because of how on the surface they’d seem to clash but when they’re on camera together it’s just this explosion of chemistry and din keeps up with lukes wild energy no problem and luke easily begins to copy dins style of more subtle quips until they just fall into this perfect combination of cooking and banter and it’s safe to say that the videos they upload afterwards become the most popular on both of their channels
