my wips (and the fact that they are still wips and not finished) make me so sad but we're working through it. also the priority levels have changed massively in the past week or so (whoops)
WIPS:
already gone--amnesia hinny au, ginny wakes up without six years of memory and no context for the world she finds herself in
the path from you-- a post-war hinny au/bodyguard fic, ginny is receiving anonymous letters and harry gets assigned to her case... will their shared history get in the way of solving the mystery?
love wasn't designed for the cynical-- (not posted/oneshot) amnesia/timeloop percabeth au, percy pisses off hera (again) and gets stuck in an alternate universe where he and annabeth never got together. he has to relive the same day over and over with no idea how to get out
spring fever-- a/b/o & sex pollen hinny au, a mutation in the cherry blossoms reactivate a long dormant biological reaction and humanity dissolves into a sex crazed pandemic. through absolutely no fault of their own, harry and ginny end up riding out the stay at home measures together... and maybe, accidentally, trigger each others designations
it's a match!-- (not posted/oneshot) an epistolary (text fic/socmed au) where harry and ginny keep matching across all dating apps over the span over several years. will they ever move past their casual acquaintanceship and actually go on a date?
scenes i'm excited to write:
harry takes ginny to the holyhead harpies stadium. ginny has some expected, and some unexpected, interactions
i'm really looking forward to writing the entirety of chap, 19 to be honest, but specifically harry and ginny trying and failing to have a secret relationship
mr d knows exactly what's going on, and refuses to help percy even a little bit lmaooo
spring fever is tough. i feel like the smut i'm writing right now isn't hitting the plot beats that i want so i am taking a SHORT break from it and focusing on some other things that have more momentum. but i'm excited to write harry and ginny going into a full sex fog and this fic finally earning it's dubious consent tag
i made the graphics so all i have left to do for this one is format the messages... and i'm actually not looking forward to this part because it's so time consuming and trial and error and it's frustrating for me so that's why i haven't posted it yet whoops.... other than that it's done 😅

Thank you so much @mppmaraudergirl and @missgryffin for the tags - I am in awe of your beautiful writing projects!!
Sadly work has been AWFULLY BUSY as has personal life (but: due to SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE at home this summer AND possibly at work from next week TL;DR hurray more writing time soon!) so… very little writing happening in past few months.
If things improve, then what I’m hoping to work on is my one WIP and these ideas which could become WIPs if there is interest:
1. BLAME
A Marauders What If...?
What if James had been blamed for the Prank?What if he got expelled at the end of Fifth Year?What if there was never a Lily Evans and James Potter? If they parted enemies, if they never got together in their final year in Hogwarts? What if the marauders lost James? What then?
It’s currently been stuck at chapter 6 for months…
2. One Day Jily AU
Okay, the Netflix series was brilliant. And while I usually absolutely do NOT see James as similar to Dex in personality, I’m tempted….
3. Fairytale AU (Jily & Wolfstar)
🧚 Lily Evans lives with her wicked step-sister and wishes she could do normal things girls her age want to do, like go to the ball, have a life, have a fairy godmother etc…
🧚 Everyone thinks Prince James Charming Potter has the best life ever. They seem to have forgotten he was cursed by a wicked witch as a baby and is due to be die in a few weeks (something involving a needle or a spindle thingymajig? Sounds a bit made up tbh). His parents think it’s balderdash, are refusing to believe this, and are determined to throw a giant ball in his honour…
🧚 His friend Prince Sirius is trying to run away from his wicked step-father and his weirdo obsession with him being the Fairest of Them All. He’s thinking that a permanent visit to Prince James is the answer to his problems…
🧚 Lily’s friend Remus has been cursed by a wicked werewolf. He now looks like a beast. It’s complicated…

TBM: I'm excited to get to the part where Lily has a big confrontation with James as well as ***** (redacted for reasons) and the stakes for each of them will finally be clear (which is not going to help anyone... but still) I know this is ridiculously vague but it is what it is.
Silent Night. I want something to happen, and I'm not sure how to fit it- and it is sad - so I'm stalling. (again I apologise for being vague)
TDC: I want to write the confrontations these two are going to have. I'm still undecided on some of the bigger directions this fic will have to go. I'm looking forward to Lily showing up on the Peverell training facility to find Remus gone and James (who is by that time a guy she slept with when she didn't know who he was) washing one of the horses. His shirt will be wet. see through. but she's a professional and only there to look at a lame horse's tendons... so what could possibly go wrong.
Helena... I am toying with the idea or Riddle flirting Helena's socks off so he can get his hands on the tiara. After a millenium has passed, she'd hoped men would have improved.

My WIP situation is a giant mess, but this looks fun!
Titles
To Bring Down a Kingdom - a Tristan & Isolde inspired fic. James is a warrior from Gryffindor and Lily is the Slytherin princess. They fall in love. What could go wrong?
Mind Games - Jily secret relationship gets derailed when Lily loses her memories in a cauldron explosion.
TBD - Alight with Happiness fic - the fic I will be writing for the upcoming married Jily fest. I intend to write something for each day/prompt, still to be planned but I am aiming for excessively fluffy.
TBD - Fairytale AU - I literally could not resist signing up for this @jilychallenge I am really hoping that I can write something (short) for this within the month of March 🙃
CIA (to be named) - a really fun half-finished WIP where Lily is an Auror and her mission is to steal an item that was magically (mistakenly) sent to James Potter by asking him on a date. This is bound to go well.

The light feeling of flying leaves the room as soon as he glimpses what she’s reading.
“Soul magic?” James would be more indignant if he wasn't stuck in complete and utter befuddlement over the copy of Secrets of the Darkest Arts that the warmest, kindest witch has just not-so-innocently snapped shut at his voice.
Lily chews her lip in discomfort but tilts her chin up in a stubborn set that he recognises all too well. This won't be easy.
“It’s not what you think –”
“– it’s dark magic, Lily! Where did you even get that?”
The way she suddenly avoids his eyes tells her all he needs to know.
“It was him, wasn’t it?”

I never had a better experience writing any other story and I think it shows. It's funny, it's light, it's silly, it's Jily. (Also I just saw it hit 500 kudos, thank you so so so much for reading this!)
the perseids (Hinny, oneshot)
Hinny HBP missing moments are undeniably my fave thing to write, and I'm just so glad I shared the Perseids with Harry and Ginny.
Five Stages of Starflower (Jily, oneshot)
This fic is five stages of self-indulgence and I hope it shows in every scene. Also, Sirius meddling with Jily holds a soft spot in my heart.
Light beam (Hinny, Jily Lives AU, oneshot)
This is the happiest, comfiest, fluffiest fic I've ever written, and my only regret was that I didn't add more scenes to it. (Also, it's my most popular fic, which always amuses me)

James Potter and Lily Evans are the Gryffindor Golden Couple without actually being one. They are Head Boy and Girl, they play Quidditch – he a Chaser and the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain, she the Seeker – and their mutual infatuation is most certainly - if you ask the both of them - unrequited. Yet, all those nights they spend together are absolutely wild.

I was lucky enough to get paired up with the endlessly talented @missgryffin who I so admire for her incredibly talents and love for the stories she creates. lying in wait
Randomly listened to some Hamilton over the weekend, ended up with "Wait For It" stuck in my head, and wrote this in a couple hours today. I think it's angst, but with a nice dash of crack? Idk 😅 But I hope it makes you smile! 🫶 below + AO3
November 3, 1981
The cottage is silent, save for the ticking of the old grandfather clock in the hall, and it’s already pitch dark, with only the faint glow of street lamps and budding moonlight shining in through rain-slicked windows.
Lily draws up her knees to her chest where she sits on the sofa, peering mindlessly into blurry windowpane. She doesn’t remember the last time she walked aimlessly down a road, or went into a shop. Sometimes, on stormy autumn nights like this, she wonders if she ever will again.
Footsteps tumble down the stairs, then come to an abrupt halt.
“Lil?” She can see his shadowed outline, one hand in his hair. “You just…sitting in the dark?”
She shrugs, though he probably can’t see, and asks, “Harry went down alright, then?”
James chuckles to himself as he crosses the room, picking his way around the furniture until he drops onto the sofa next to her. “After reading every book twice and playing the Snitch game for thirty minutes…yes.” He leans closer, grinning. “Our son is asleep.”
She rests a hand on his scruffy cheek. “It’s only supposed to be ten minutes of the Snitch game,” she teases him.
“I know,” James sighs. “But he asked for ten more.”
Lily snorts. “What, and then ten more after that?”
He throws his hands weakly in his lap. “Wha—am I supposed to say no to the kid? He looks just like me!”
She falls into him, a laughing heap, and for a moment, they simply giggle deliriously together. It’s nice. It’s normal. Or at least a sliver of it.
James cuddles her into him, and Lily breaths him in. They’ve lost so many over the few years since Hogwarts, but they still have each other. She clings on to that, to him.
“I love you,” she says into his chest.
He kisses the top of her head. “I love you, too.”
A stretching silence; a heavy sigh. “It’s his birthday.”
“I know,” James murmurs. “I can’t stop thinking about him.”
Lily peels herself off his chest and swings a leg over his lap, sitting with her arms looped around his neck. How many conversations have they had over the years while sitting just like this? How many more will they get?
“He said he’d be in touch by today.” Her mind won’t stop racing. “What if this was a bad id—”
“It wasn’t,” James cuts her off. “Besides.” A heavy sigh. “It was…our only idea.”
“Do you think…” She pauses, plays with his hair. “Do you think we…did the right thing?”
He sits up straighter, pulling her closer against him. “You’re the only two people in my life I know I can trust completely,” he says. “So yeah, I think we did.”
There’s no use rehashing it again; they’ve done that enough. Yes, he now has a target on his back, but it’s not like he wasn’t already a target before. No, it couldn’t have been anyone else—not Albus, who knows more than he’s saying; not Remus, whom Albus and Sirius both suspect; and not Peter, who’s been looking exhausted and strung-out from the night-shift reconnaissance he’s been assigned. Yes, he had to leave. And no, it wasn’t cowardly to do so.
Granted, that last bit had taken a not insignificant amount of convincing (damned Gryffindor), but he eventually came around to their idea. Staying around in England with Voldemort sure to be onto him was certain death. But why not take advantage of being top of Voldemort’s mind? Why make it easy, when instead he could make it hard? Give the Order a leg up? Let them use him (or rather, the idea of him) as bait to lure and manipulate all the Death Eaters looking for him, and maybe even root out the spy in the process? And really, if anyone was going to lead Voldemort on a wild goose chase, setting traps and lying in wait, who better than Sirius Black?
Still, she worries. She can’t help it. And she knows James worries too, even if he does do a better job of hiding it.
There’s only one thing left to do, really; only one way to pass the time sufficiently distracted from racing thoughts. James must read her mind, because he’s all eager hands and excited tongue when she kisses him. Maybe it’s unhealthy, how much they’ve used sex to cope the past year. But when his mouth feels like this and hair’s in her hands…she’s not sure she cares.
“Prongs!”
They jump, springing apart like they’re fifth years caught after curfew. James swears under his breath as they fumble to right the clothes they’d started shoving aside before he reaches for the small mirror sitting on the coffee table.
“Padfoot!”
Lily frantically feels around the sofa for her wand.
“Why’s it so dar—oh, don’t tell me you were just—”
“We were waiting for you,” James covers.
“Mate. That’s worse. Just say you were shagging.”
“Well, we weren’t yet.”
“Hi, Sirius.” She brandishes her now-glowing wand, recovered from the seam between the cushions.
“Lily! Looking rumpled as ever!”
She yanks her cardigan back up her shoulder as she scolds, “Shut it.”
“I miss you, too.”
They can only see Sirius’s chin in frame, and it seems like he’s moving around.
“Happy birthday, man,” James says.
“Thanks.”
“Where are you?”
“Hang on—I have to show you—ready?”
“Yeah?”
His face comes into view and Lily instantly gasps.
Sirius grins. “Like it?”
His once shoulder-length hair’s been chopped off stylishly short in a fresh cut that makes him look like old Hollywood charm in that loose button-down he has on.
“Damn, Pads!”
“I…barely recognize you,” Lily stammers.
“Well.” He adjusts the mirror closer to his face. “That’s sorta the point.”
A heavy pit settles in her stomach.
“How you been?” James asks. “Travel go okay?”
“Yeah, fine.” Sirius shrugs. “I’ve been doing things the Muggle way—that Muggle Studies N.E.W.T.’s finally paying off, who woulda thought.”
“Where are you now?”
The mirror turns around, panning over an ocean-side city lit up with lights through a set of patio doors. “Cannes,” he says, and Lily hears the grin in his voice. The mirror turns back to his face. “I have access to money here, dad’s side of the family, in the French bank. And I figure…” He flops back atop a hotel bed, one hand beneath his head. “If Voldemort wants to come get me, he’ll just have to bring his snakey arse down to the beach, won’t he?”
They all bust up into snorting, wheezing laughter. It’s not normal; none of it’s normal. But laughing with her husband and their best friend like this is the closest to normal she’s felt in a long time, and she thinks, if this is how life has to be for awhile, she can live with it.

We Have Buried the Putrid Corpse of Liberty by @mabeltothknows - I promise this fic will make you laugh until you piss your pants. Mabel is the funniest author I know, no joke.
for the hope of it all by @missgryffin - This is not exactly an AU, because they still do magic, but the entire story is based on a beach setting in the summertime, and that's my absolute favourite trope in the world! (rated M)
The Season by @missgryffin - A Bridgerton AU that's better than Bridgerton. Need I say more? (rated M)
bury it and rise above by @startanewdream - this one's canon-divergence in which Lily is a witch and James is a muggle, and Mah spins literal magic through her storytelling. It's heartfelt, beautiful, and perfectly gorgeous (rated M)
Who Knows Who Cares by @the-dream-team - The most adorable bi!Lily fic out there, I promise you. It's got all the right ingredients to make your heart feel warm and fluttery. Dylan's talent knows no limits ❤️
The Waiting Game by @possessingtheproperspirit - I read this late last year and the concept of it was genius! Kept me laughing from start to end. Highly recommend! (rated M)
Controlled Addiction by @hogwartslivy - I'm nuts about this fic and it's no secret. The story has an amazing setting, lots of interesting reveals, and such a sweetheart James 😍 (rated M)
If We Never Meet Again by @thequibblah - Actors!Jily AU; it's a unique, genius concept! Lots of pining, drama, the perfect amount of angst. Became obsessed with the story as soon as I read it (rated M)
Burn Easy and Easy Does It by @efkgirldetective - Anything Emma writes is pure gold, and these AUs never fail to stun me with their brilliance no matter how many times I re-read them. Plus, her smut is always exquisite 😏 (rated E)

OCTOBER AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT: MISSGRYFFIN
Q: Where can we find you and your stories?
A: @missgryffin, AO3
Q: How would you describe your writing style?
A: Intense, sexy, snappy, and fast-paced. I have a rampant imagination and love a good sexual tension build-up, so my fics usually include a lot of plot, drama, and (of course) smut.
Q: How do you come up with ideas for your writing?
A: It’s such a grab-bag. A pretty substantial number of my fics have originated from prompts, actually! I also draw a lot on TV shows/movies I’ve seen, novels I’ve read, tropes I see that I’m inspired to try, etc. Also, I find that a lot of my ideas actually form while I’m writing. I’ll go in with a sense of direction, but it’s not until I’m writing and really in the thick of it that the details take shape, and then new ideas begin to spout off from there, based on what I learn about what the characters and story need.
Q: When and why did you begin writing fanfiction?
A: Technically, during the two-year wait between the releases of books 5 and 6, because I was utterly HP obsessed, my imagination was in overdrive thinking about what could happen in the final two books, and I had discovered MuggleNet fanfiction / FFN by that point, so I’d been devouring all of that early era of HP fanfic. I actually have a giant binder of my own fanfic writing from that period; I would type up stories in Word, format them with fun fonts and fan art covers I found online, and print them out for myself. (Which, I still do this!) Fun fact: there’s even a Marauders story in there that I had completely forgotten about that has a striking resemblance to the bones of Eternal Summer. It genuinely freaked me out a little when I found it, ha!
But even though I wrote creatively through most of my childhood/school phases of life, I had taken a pretty substantial break in early adulthood and didn’t “return” to writing until the pandemic in 2020. Life was bizarre, Netflix had gotten boring, and I was craving a creative outlet or hobby that could make lockdown bearable. I randomly stumbled my way back to fanfic / fandom, and here we are!
Q: What’s one thing you’d tell someone who is considering reading one of your fics?
A: Buckle up! 🎢 Also, I hope you are either i) at home, or ii) have a really great NSFW poker face 😅 But to give a more serious answer, I’d say that I write a wide range of tones, and I really lean in to what that tone is. If a fic is tagged for fluff and crack, it will be so adorably sweet and cringe-funny that your face will hurt from smiling. If a fic is tagged for angst and darker themes, it will feel like a knife to the gut. (If it’s tagged for all of the above—cough Eternal Summer cough—you’re at the front of a line for a wild rollercoaster, my friend!) Since I write both extremes, I’m never offended when readers skip fics or prefer one “genre” to another. But please know that Jily is always endgame in all of my stories—that’s the whole reason why we’re here 💗
Q: What are some of your favorite Jily tropes?
A: Enemies to lovers is my #1, even if it’s more of that “enemies-ish” rivalry at the beginning. There’s just nothing more quintessentially Jily to me than the process of them discovering more layers to the other person and slowly realizing that the other person is so much more than the antagonist they’d built up in their head. (And that they -gasp- actually…like them! Worse, they like them like them! A lot!) Gets me every time.
Other favorites include There Was Only One Bed, Hurt/Comfort, and Forced Proximity/Stuck/Trapped.
Q: What do you like most about the Jily fandom?
A: That we celebrate how much of a power couple Jily is. I’m going to quote @jilyss’ answer for this because it’s so true: we understand James has an arrogant streak but grew up, we celebrate Lily for the intelligent, strong, cool, bamf woman she is, and we appreciate how they’re true, complementary equals finding real, raw love with one another. (And also all the wonderful reader and fellow-writer friends I’ve made! 😘)
Q: Pick a favourite Marauders era character.
A: My man JP. From only the few hints we get about him in the books, we know he’s such a dynamic person, and I really love bringing him to life. Also, his growth/redemption story deserved more air-time, so I’m glad fanfic is here to fill that gap.
Q: Self-promo time! List the fics that you are most proud of writing.
A:
Eternal Summer – My first born! Even though it’s far from being finished and needs a lot of work, I’m really proud of the world-building I’ve done thus far.
Vindicated – This was thrilling for me to write because it’s a total departure from what I’d previously written: second chances, canon-divergent AU, American settings, original characters, more adult relationship, etc. I have more planned for this universe and I’m really excited for it.
for the hope of it all – My latest completed fic. I challenged myself to write a softer, friends-to-lovers, mutually pining kind of summer fic, and this came together in a flood. But what makes me proud is that with this fic, I could really see how much my writing has evolved and improved from those early ES days.
Q: Fic rec time! Could you recommend a few of your favourite Jily fics?
A:
Of Chrysalism by @maraudersftw – It’s only a short one-shot, but the way this fic haunts me!! Exquisite.
The Wedding Ring by @mppmaraudergirl – Lauren is the Nancy Meyers of Jily, and this fic is the epitome of that. A total comfort fic for me; I want it to be a movie that I can play in my living room over and over again until I know it by heart.
Eighteen Again by @scriibble-fics – If I didn’t know scriibble was getting her PhD in History, I’d think she was a screenwriter. The world-building in this fic is like no other—I’m in a constant state of chills when I read it. The emotional depth, the heartbreak, the romance, the political intrigue…it’s one of those fics that never leaves you.

1 - We Can Be Heroes : my canon marauders fic (Jily and Wolfstar) with the ending they bloody well deserved
2 - it was A Little Risk which is a 1930s murder mystery/Anti-fascist AU but I’ve taken it down!
3 - Boys Don’t Cry: the prequel to We Can Be Heroes. A prank fic mostly from Sirius Black’s POV (pre relationships).
4 - Maybe I Waited Too Long - a doctors!marauders AU with Wolfstar and Jily. I had a laugh writing this one.
5 - This Is The Way The World Ends - it’s heartbreaking and a canon divergent Wolfstar AU about Remus getting bad news…
5. do you respond to comments? why or why not?
I always usually do, it’s one of the main reasons I love writing fics!! Without the interaction I wouldn’t bother posting istg!! People can be so kind and generous 🥺❤️
6. what is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably number 5 because it has MCD and apparently made people cry? But equally, I did write 3 short fics about 31st October 1981 from Jily, Sirius and Remus’ POV and that was pretty heartbreaking/ ugly crying stuff.
7. what is a fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of my fics have happy endings it’s probably a toss-up between We Can Be Heroes and Have Yourself a Merry Little Wolfenoot
9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
Nope! All mine are either T rated or fade to black
10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've written?
I’ve only ever written one, a LOTR/Marauders crossover, and I actually had great fun trying to write it in LOTR style? Wolfstar are Éowyn and Faramir. It’s called Ithilin and Silmë (only wrote it because @therealrjlupin wanted it 💙)
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know!
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
I did! It was a Jily celebrity AU translated into Chinese that I thought wasn’t any good and have since deleted 😂😂!
13. have you ever co-written a fic before?
Once. It’s a WIP crackfic called One Line At A Time written with @mppmaraudergirl @theresthesnitch @missgryffin @mabeltothknows and @maraudersftw and it still makes me laugh, it’s bonkers I love them <3333
14. what's your all time favourite ship?
I’m sorry it’s so weird but I insist on putting Wolfstar and Jily/ Jily and Wolfstar tied for top spot, I just love these two couples so much <3333
15. what's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I don’t keep WIPs that I’m not planning on finishing (I delete or orphan those), but the one I’d like to finish is BLAME (a what if…? First war AU)
16. what are your writing strengths?
I have zero clue sorry you’d have to ask someone who likes my writing. I mean I’ve made people cry so there’s that?? 😬🤣
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
Again, v hard to be objective aside from vague “it’s not great” stuff? I think it has improved with writing practice and with time.
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I’ve done it in We Can Be Heroes - James speaks fluent Italian and Sirius speaks fluent French. As I can speak the languages it was ok, but I had to check with @constancezin to be sure the written French was ok!

HP marauders
20. favourite fic you've written?
A Little Risk is the favourite thing I’ve written but I’ve taken it down, so my favourite marauders fic I’ve written and is still up is We Can Be Heroes or This Is The Way The World Ends.
