Hi! I love your writing 🥹
I was wondering if I could request a fic where it’s readers first time in after school detention, and it’s over something dumb like being tardy too much ‘cause she’s a good noodle, but Billy is there! And he’s all cool and flirty and shit.
Literally anything you write will be amazing! Thank youuu for sharing your work 🙏
pink slips and bland gum.

billy hargrove x fem!henderson!reader
word count: 2,229
warnings: swearing, reader has anxiety, mentions of smoking, innuendos, tension/kinda pining/both reader and billy are smartasses—this is kinda enemies to lovers OOP (also sorry i got carried away)
a/n: hi my love!! thank you so very much for your request. it makes me so happy that you enjoy my writing! thank you for reading. it is a pleasure to share my mess with you. i really like this idea! i had a similar experience in school, minus the billy or interaction with a pretty boy at all. anyhow, i hope you like this!! i decided to make it a henderson!reader as a reason for the tardiness. i hope that’s okay! *big big squeezy hug* <333

“God fucking dammit, Dustin!”
Your breath leaves a puffy cloud of air in front of you where you sit in your car. It’s not warm yet. You would’ve gotten up to start it earlier, but you’d overslept some, which meant Dustin overslept too.
You usually banged on his door after pulling yourself out of bed, but what with finals, you’d been up late studying and forgotten to set your clock.
The palms of your hands met the leather of the steering wheel again, one slamming into the horn, again. You couldn’t bare to give one tiny shit at this point if you woke anyone in the neighborhood up.
Dustin had always been a mess in regards to getting ready for school, but it seemed that now you drove him, he was determined to make you late as well. When your mother drove the both of you, he was ever punctual. Now, not even a little bit.
When he did finally get in the car, he realized that you were actually furious with him, not saying one word the entire trip. Not to mention you realized about halfway there that you were actually going to be late, again, a wreck diverting traffic the complete wrong way to school. A wreck you could’ve avoid if Dustin had gotten his ass outside on time.
It was safe to say that by the time you got parked and into the building, only for your first period teacher to hold up her hand at your entrance—not even bothering to look up at you—a pink slip of paper in her fingers, you were downright pissed.
You flopped down into your seat, wood cold through your jeans, and looked at the slip while simultaneously retrieving your book from your bag. It was “silent reading time,” after all.
It was a detention slip. A fucking detention slip.
Not only were you angry at yourself for oversleeping, but also because Dustin just could not bother to help you out in the mornings, not only today, but almost every damn day the past month, and now you were paying the price.
You knew Dustin would get away with it on his end though. His first period was Mr. Clarke, and he loved Dustin so much it wouldn’t matter if he set fire to the classroom.
“Afternoon Detention, 3:30pm,” it read, a blank with your name scrawled on it and a blank for your teachers signature as well.
You rolled your eyes, reaching for your wallet to check for coins, because now you needed to use the fucking pay phone and call your mother considering you wouldn’t be able to take Dustin home this afternoon anymore.
————
Claudia Henderson was less than pleased to hear that you’d gotten after school detention, but you weren’t taking any of her shit after the morning you’d had.
You may have used language that was going to get you lectured, but in the end you told her to deal with Dustin and hung up.
The rest of the day drug on and on, your leg continually bouncing throughout each class. You could feel your anxiety the whole time, a dull ache, a pain that wouldn’t go away until you got through this.
You’d never had detention before.
Never in your entire academic career.
Frankly, you didn’t see any reason to misbehave and have to stay in the hellhole that was Hawkins High School any longer than you had to. Which is why you always behaved.
And the reason for your detention sentence hadn’t even been your fault.
The last bell rang, and instead of making your way out to the parking lot with the rest of the school, you walked the other way, down the hall to Mrs. Click’s classroom.
You’d had her your junior year for English class, and though that was your best and favorite subject, she’d made it miserable, never thinking you had any talent in you whatsoever regarding writing. Which, by the way, fucking hurt.
You turned into the room, standing in the short line of other kids who had to stay just like you did.
You handed her your slip and she assessed you over the frames of her glasses, like she knew you’d end up here.
“Take a seat anywhere you’d like. You may complete any classwork you have. You may not listen to music or do anything recreational. You will be released at five pm. No sooner, no later.”
You shooed you away with a flick of her hand, and you moved to find a desk.
There really weren’t a lot of kids in the room, only five or six, and they were all spread out, clearly not wanting to be next to each other.
You went for the back row like you did in any classroom, hoping you’d find solace there.
Only when you sat down did you hear the sound of heavy boots on the floor behind you, and upon glancing up, you found the one and only Billy Hargrove sliding into the seat next to you, dropping his bag on the desktop.
You didn’t know the boy extremely well by any means, but of course you knew who he was. You had a few classes with him, some of which required working in pairs—so you’d talked to him, but you weren’t best friends forever or anything.
You tried not to roll your eyes at Billy’s apparent inability to pick a seat not so close to you, occupying yourself with pulling out your few homework assignments for the night.
“What are you in for?”
When you turned your head, Billy was already looking at you; his head propped up by his hand, blinking all slow, batting those stupid long eyelashes at you, a slow smirk ticking up the corners of his mouth. His voice gravelly, words spoken lazily, keeping his voice down for fear of Mrs. Click’s acknowledgment.
He was a dream to look at—there was no denying that.
“Apparently being tardy one too many times is not very well received.”
You flipped open a notebook, looking for the notes you’d taken earlier in the day. Billy’s hand though, covered the words.
He was holding a pack of gum, offering you a stick. You didn’t chew gum often, but you weren’t going to turn it down when he was offering it to you.
“Thank you.”
“Mhm,” Billy hummed. “Why’ve you been late so much that you got written up for it?”
You turned to face him, eyeing Mrs. Click, who was reading and half dozing in her chair, oblivious to the boy with his walkman tucked into his waistband, hair covering his headphones.
“My brother. Dustin seems to be determined to make my mornings a living hell every since I started driving the both of us. He can never get ready on time or gets distracted by something. But if it were him who needed to be somewhere and I was running late, the fucking world would end.”
Billy was watching you intently as you spoke, hanging onto your every word. This was the most you’d ever conversed, what with you always paying attention in class and everything, so he was pretty damn happy that you were paying him any attention.
He laughed lightly after you finished. “My sister, Max, is the opposite. I think she’s punctual so that she can get away from me quicker.”
“I think they’re friends, Max and Dustin,” you told him. “Maybe they’re out to get us.”
Billy let out a breath of a laugh, smiling lightly at you.
It was then that the silence ensued.
The boy was quiet for a good while, eventually digging out his own homework, what looked to be math. The math class you shared with him. The same homework you were trying to do.
“Are you any good at this stuff?” You asked him shyly, pointing to the paper on your desk as he made eye contact with you. He was really good at that. Unnervingly so.
“What, math?”
You nodded, trying not to look at his hands while he flipped a pencil around in between his fingers.
“Not always, but the stuff we’re on now I’ve got. Why, you need help?” He wasn’t mean when he asked. He wasn’t picking on you. He was genuinely offering.
“Well I got most of it done in class today, but there’s these two problems I can’t figure out. I’ve always been bad at math though, so.”
“Math is hard, okay? And it doesn’t help that O’Donnell is shit at explaining either. Which ones are buggin’ you?”
“Three and seven. I’ve got the first two steps down, but after that I get lost. I think I’m dividing wrong maybe?”
Billy read over the question on his sheet and then moved his chair out to be closer to you. The close contact was making you burn.
“May I?” He held out his hand for your paper. You picked it up and gave it to him. His eyes scanned your writing, fingers trying not to smudge the graphite from your pencil.
He scooted even closer to you. The burning continued. You tried not to think about how good he smelled, even if it was mostly of cigarettes.
“Okay, here,” he gestured with his pen, “it’s the third step where you kinda trip up. You’ve just forgotten the negative sign that goes with the parenthesis.”
You looked at your notes, realizing you had indeed forgotten that. “Huh. That makes sense. Thank you, Billy. I’m sorry for bothering you with this.”
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll help you anytime you need.” And then he winked. Billy Hargrove winked at you and then went back to working on his own homework.
The rest of the afternoon droned on, but eventually the hour and a half was up. Your sentence had ended.
Billy shouldered his bag, and you had the urge to grab hold of his arm and squeeze. Shit. You needed to chill.
You made sure to give Mrs. Click a glare on the way out for how she treated you, and Billy caught it.
“That was brave. I’m kind of scared of her.”
You laughed, falling into step with him on the way out of the building.
“She’s a bitch. Made my English class last year living hell. It’s easier to be brave when I know I won’t have to be in close quarters with her.”
Billy laughed then, and it was probably the sweetest sound you’d ever heard, lazy and sweet. You could’ve bottled it.
You fished your keys out halfway through the door, and when you looked up, you noticed Billy was still chewing his gum. You’d spit your piece out on the way out of detention.
“There’s no way that gum still has any flavor left.”
He turned to look at you. “Wanna find out?”
You practically choked, but he reveled in it, moving on. “Walk you to your car? It is getting dark out early this time of year, you know.”
“Sure, Billy.”
The walk was short, but he was right on you the whole time, a comforting presence. You almost squealed when he caught your bag as it slipped from your shoulder, his warm hand brushing your arm.
It was when you arrived at the driver’s side door of your car that the both of you looked up, the street lights coming on all at once, the sun having set just enough to set them off. There was some romantic joke in there, you were sure of it.
“You never asked me,” Billy said. You raised a brow, confused as to where he was going with this.
“What I was in for,” he continued. “I was gonna make a joke about you being a goody two shoes or something, but then you were all nice and gorgeous and shit, so, you know. Here I am.”
Billy leaned in, setting a gentle hand on the roof of the car, just beside your head. You were starting to think that smartass smirk of his was ever present.
“Sorry,” you started, still feeling a little brave. “You were too busy flirting up a storm.” He tossed his head back, laughing, and you tracked the movement of his Adam’s apple. “So what were you in for, Hargrove?”
“Apparently smoking in the school hallways is not very well received.”
You rolled your eyes. “Why were you smoking in the halls then?”
“Honestly? Because I was having a shit day and I needed to calm down, so I kinda couldn’t make it outside.” He shrugged his shoulders, finding it easy to talk to you for some reason.
You nodded, understanding the need to get away sometimes—more often than not. You wondered how much more of him you could understand, if he were to reveal it to you.
“Well, I’m sure we could figure out another way for you to calm down that doesn’t involve cancer sticks.”
“Yeah?” Billy grinned. “You’ll have to help me out then, huh?”
“I guess so.”
You watched as he pulled a pen out of his own bag, gesturing for you to give him your hand. When you did, the tip of the pen was cold against your palm.
“My number,” Billy told you. “For when you need help with math homework, or if you want gum or something.”
“Or something.”
He capped the pen. “Yeah. Or something.”

that anon is insane and i say this as a black fan. they have attached their racial identity to their hobby and now think if anyone can see past the characters race and enjoy them for who they are, that person is either a racist or a sellout. like sorry armand is brown, sorry he will be revealed as a bigger villain than lestat, sorry that his relationship with louis wont last but thats the story. id find it more offensive and racist if they changed everything about him to be more palatable
Hi Anon.
I mean, to me, it just seems so limiting to take a complex character like Armand and wish for him to be less complex just because he's now played by a POC. Because, in my eyes, that's what this whole "nice guy Armand" thing does and is doing.
If anything, his being now a brown man should add to Armand's character and complexity and explain even more his problematic faults and the things he does, given what his backstory will now be: a brown child who was kidnapped, sold as a slave, sexually exploited, and then bought by white Roman (Marius).
There's a fascinating story that can be told here IMO with Armand's character about the many facets of slavery and colonialism, and how it not only abused but corrupted Armand since childhood, over many long centuries, until he's as we meet him in Paris when Louis and Claudia first meet him.
He's never been just a mustache-twirling villain, even though he is the main antagonist in both IWTV and TVL.
And Rolin Jones has also already said S2 will include things from book 3 and book 6. Which are Queen of the Damned and The Vampire Armand. Meaning we'll not only likely going to see why and what made Armand what he is and had been, but what I'd argue is the first time we see him really, as readers, ever first saw that there was more to him than what we thought, and that was in The Devil's Minion chapter. And then even more so with The Vampire Armand.
We're looking at the possibility of a fully fleshed-out but nuanced antagonistic POC character here, just like I'd argue we've seen with Louis and Claudia too (minus the antagonist part of course).
And wanting to make him some noble good guy just so undercuts all of that IMO. And would just reinforce that trend of white characters who are recast to be POC in adaptations, but then given usually less to do than their book counterparts, if not underutilized completely (see the many comments about Bonnie from The Vampire Diaries).

As I previously stated, I loved 01x05. It was fantastic. It was real. It brought my emotions to the forefront, and I don't get to experience that with much of anything, these days. But, this little misfit family... I feel for all three of these characters, in my own way. (They're fictional, so, yes, I can do that, thanks). Possibly because I have been in each of their positions, in one form or another, throughout my life.
I'm going to get mighty personal with this one, so be warned.
01x05 hit home for me, in a big way. This is a legitimate breakdown of a forced family unit, and that's something I personally feel for. Children have been the Bad Marriage Band-Aid for generations, and I am grateful to the writers for acknowledging it. (Some of us get a little tired of seeing cookie-cutter families, when ours look more like the aftermath of an oven fire, y'know what I mean?). We're getting to see it from all three sides, too, which I find absolutely refreshing. One parent thinks the child will settle the relationship. The other goes along with it, and ends up so blinded by jealousy, there is no middle ground left.
Claudia, though. This girl... She has my heart. Claudia is not to blame for what she was brought into, the absolutely fucked-up relationship that her guardians share. Is she a little shit? Yes. Is she hard-headed? Yes. Unstable, in terms of coming into her own? Yes. But, she is not the cause of her parents' issues. That's a hard thing to overcome as a child brought up under such circumstances, especially when the household arguments are about you. Because, sure, they may be about you, but you did not cause them. Claudia isn't the origin of Louis and Lestat's tensions. She is the excuse to pick a semi-fresh fight. She is the mirror held up in front of the two of them to show them that, "Hey, this isn't right." The product of their unstable union. The best and worst of one another in one person. (Speaking of her vampiric years, not her humanity). That isn't to say that there isn't genuine concern for her, particularly on the part of Louis. Claudia just got caught up in a toxic situation, and it's no wonder she took the hell off. I'm not surprised which parent's side she took, either. (Then again, are any of us?).
Louis and Lestat are... Well, I feel less for the two of them. Some years ago, I was in a relationship with similar features, so I think what I am experiencing is that mirror (minus the children). I will first say that nothing - nothing - excuses abuse. I've seen it. I've experienced it. Hell, I'm guilty of it. I also acknowledge that abuse takes many forms. I see it in Lestat's constant manipulations. I see it in Louis' repeated threats to leave. Louis withholding intimacies (not just sexual). Lestat playing his little one-sided What's Good for the Goose game, in terms of monogamy. They both know what they are doing to one another, they know the reactions they will trigger, yet they keep doing it. It's an ugly, ugly cycle, and it won't end until one of them cuts the damned cord. Breaks the chain. (I don't exactly advocate that they do so through violence, but). Walking away isn't easy, fuck knows it isn't. There's truth to the notion that things need to hit rock bottom before they can get better.
No one is asking to be abused. That isn't what I'm getting at. My point is that these two are so completely caught up in trying to hurt one another, blame one another, and sabotage the other from the inside out, they ignore what it is doing to their charge. They know she can hear them fighting, and they carry on. Falling victim to The Pattern is part of the cycle, and it is likely to be passed on to Claudia. This whole situation is toxic. This is abuse. This is co-dependent. Everybody sucks, here. (Sorry, I had to). And, by golly, I will be here for it until the bitter end.
Y'know. God-willing.
P.S. I'll happily clarify anything that sounds shitty, if need be. I'm rattling this off at work, between what I should be doing, so. Y'know.

003 | croissant
Tumblr media
genre: strangers to friends to lovers, slowburn, potential angst, fluff
pairing: casey ruang x yunmei qi
warnings: none
synopsis: casey is a bit homesick, how to cure?
masterlist
LIKEY CAFE; 10:45 A.M
saturday morning, on a breezy fall day. just the slightest chill flowing through the mid october breeze. weekends were rather slow for un. not much to do, since she's on top of her assignments. as of now, she sat in a little corner booth at a local diner outside campus.
“well looky looky, what do we have here?”
a familiar voice spoke, catching yun’s attention. she looked up, and there stood casey ruang. a little smirk plastered on his face, his smirk growing into a toothy smile.
“..hi?"
“hey. what’cha up to?” casey pushed his bag below the table, sliding into the booth as he let out a quiet grunt.
yunmei glanced at the croissant in front of her, before glancing back at casey. this diner was always her to-go meal spot. need a quick breakfast? take a breakfeast wrap from their to-go breakfast menu. late night dinner? Their dinner plates will be right out as soon as you even order.
“croissant.”
“i’m sorry?”
“croissant. they have good croissants here.” yun explained as she wiped leftover pastry crumbs off of her mouth with her sleeve. awkwardness creeped in as the two grew silent; plates clinking and quiet chatter being the only sounds. yunmei looked at her pastry sheepishly, whereas casey was looking at the menu. he glanced around before raising his hand. a teenager quickly came over, pulling out a notepad and a pen.
“hi, what would you like today?”
casey looked back at yun, a small smile on his face.
“one plain croissant, please.”
yunmei smiled fondly at casey, going back to her food. she glanced between casey and his backpack. the diner had opened a couple weeks ago, but yun had been frequenting the place recently.
“so, why are you here?”
yunmei took another bite of her croissant, chasing it down with a fresh cup of strawberry milk.
“was looking for a place to write; my literature professor assigned us a mock report, and the dorm wasn’t really a good place. y’know, someone threw a party last night and left their mess for us. what a great morning!”
casey took a deep breath, rubbing his face. now that yun looked closer, she saw that casey’s eyes were dropping and had bags under them. an arrow of concern poked her heart but she decided not to inquire about it.
“jeez, sounds bad. i was gonna go grocery shopping later, you wanna go with me? after you’ve made some progress on your report.”
“yeah, sure. i have to buy a couple snacks anyways.”
it made yun a little happy that she didn’t have to go shop alone, nonetheless she wasn't expecting for him to come with.

a wave of melancholy struck casey, causing him to stare up from his work and at the ceiling. after seeing th picture claudia sent, casey realized something. he missed home. the chaos of four siblings, the noisiness, but his mother’s cooking is what he missed the most. It had been a while since he last ate something that truly tastes like home. he glanced at the digital clock on his desk. 7:24, it displayed.
may as well have dinner, i can study later.
casey thought to himself. he had been studying for the past four hours, and it was already past the time he would usually eat dinner. as casey made his way out of his room and into the communal kitchen, the scent of beef and spring onions grew stronger and stronger.
peeking past the corner, he spotted yun at the stove. it seemed like she was sauteeing some sort of noodle dish. casey stood there for a minute, waiting to see if yun would even look away from the stovetop. he stood for a good three or four minutes, before yun scanned the premises. she jumped, then began to laugh as she clutched her heart.
“oh my god, casey! i almost threw my spoon at you, don’t do that."
casey chuckled, walking over to the kitchen island and sitting down.
“okay, okay sorry. what’s on the menu tonight?”
“oh, just this beef noodle dish i ate growing up. i messed up the ratios though, there’s bound to be some-”
growl
casey’s growling stomach interrupted yunmei’s speaking, embarrassment creeping up onto his face.
“..leftovers…i’m gonna assume you’re hungry, and you can have the rest. i don't trust my cooking, so you taste it first!”
yun shoved a bowl of the noodle dish into casey’s arms, and handed him a pair of chopsticks and a spoon. the aroma was heavenly, notes of different soy sauce variations and oyster sauce with that slight smokey scent. it…reminded casey of something familiar.
“if you don't trust your own cooking, why should i trust it?”
“because you’re hungry and i’m not letting you starve.”
“...fine..”
casey hesitantly picked up a couple strands and stared at them with a questionable look, and put them in his mouth. the expression on yunmei’s face was one of uncertainty, her eyes glued onto casey’s face. it was subtle, but his eyes sparked. he looked up at her with a look of excitement on his face and nodded.
“i’m surprised you don’t trust yourself, because this is really good.”
yunmei let out a breath, anxiously shaking her hand. her shoulders felt lighter as her face lit up with happiness.

something was vibrating. it was casey’s phone. he pulled it out, and his expression changed to worry. he whispered a ‘sorry’ over to yunmei. His finger hovered against the screen, before flicking up.
“casey, my son! claudia says you didn’t have food, are you eating now?”
a light and airy voice spoke from casey’s phone. other voices were distantly heard in the background. yun assumed it was his mother, judging from the words ‘my son’. she gathered the pots and pans, and placed them in the sink for later.
“mom, mom. i’m fine. i’m okay, just a little tired. i’m eating right now. claudia showed me the seolleongtang you made.”
“sorry, your brothers and sisters wanted it because they know you like it, and they miss you.”
“i’ll be home soon, okay? just two more months and i'll be home for christmas.”
“okay. what are you eating now?”
“well my friend made this beef noodle stirfry, and there was a lot extra so she gave me some.”
casey looked over at yun, who was standing across him. she seemed to be invested in her own bowl. he flashed her a soft smile again, before turning back to his phone.
“okay. I know you’re a busy boy so i’ll let you eat. stay safe and-”
“is that casey? hi big brother!”
“casey!”
“ew, it’s you.”
casey’s phone screen went from displaying just his mother to his whole family. a smile lit up on his face, and yunmei could see his eyes crinkle. it warmed his heart, seeing his whole family after little contact.
“hi everyone. claudia, that’s mean. hi cecillia and cody. are you two being nice to mom and dad?”
“yes! cody helped her make dindin, and claudia draw with me!”
a high pitched girly voice spoke.
"is dad home or is he still at the bakery?"
"yeah, he's still working. your favourite tarts have been the weekly special for like, three times since you left."
a breathy voice spoke, in a slight sing-song tone.
“thanks, claudia. and what about cole?”
the phone screen panned from his siblings, back to his mother.
“oh, cole is having a sleepover with one of his friends. they have soccer game tomorrow. eat now okay? i love you, my son.”
“okay, love you too mom. bye everyone."
“bye casey!”
“byebye big brother!”
“see’ya.”
click
“sorry about the fuss, my family’s a bit on the rowdy side.”
casey took another bite of his food, wiping the corners of his mouth with a napkin. yun shook her head, fiddling with her utensils.
“it’s okay, your family seems fun. are you the oldest?”
she asked, walking to the fridge.
“yeah. i’m the oldest, then it’s my sister claudia, my brother cole, and the twins cecilia and cody. claudias fifteen, coles eleven, and the twins are both four.”
“oh really? What’s it like, being the oldest?”
yun chuckled, wiping her hand with a napkin. the boy smirked and sighed.
“well, it’s kinda hard since i help my parents with the younger ones, but i don't mind it.. they’re all great kids.”
it was nice, seeing casey talk about his family in such a loving way. if yun was being honest, she thought it was kind of cute.
I.H FILM ROOM; 9:20 A.M
“you’re finally on time, for once!”
“always on time for my favourite class. professor lee still isn’t here?”
casey shook his head, unsheathing his laptop from the case. he pulled out his sketchbook as well, flipping it open to a blank page. this time, yun was prepared. she had stuffed an extra sweater in her backpack, and even brought a couple of instant heat packs if the chill became unbearable.
“nope, i wonder what surprise he’s gonna show up with this time.”
professor lee is casey and yunmei’s film professor, and he always came to class in a special way. sometimes he would wear inflatable animal costumes to teach in, other days he would just not follow the day’s agenda and would just casually talk to the class.
“i’ll buy you lunch if he comes to class wearing a dinosaur costume. he doesn’t, then you treat me.”
yun said, pulling out a packet of mini rice puffs to snack on.
“deal.”
the two shook hands, smirks on both their faces. last time, prof. lee wore a carrot costume and almost every week, he alternates from food costumes to other types of attire. but when yunmei sat down, the professor came through the doors wearing something no one expected him to.
“oh my god.” casey whispered, his eyes slightly widening.
“what even is he wearing? oh whatever, thanks for lunch art boy!” yunmei squealed excitedly.
professor lee came to class in not just one costume, but separate parts of multiple costumes sewn together. the cherry on top of the outfit was the pumpkin hat that sat ever so perfectly the professor's head.
“okay class, let’s get started!”

What do you think would have happened if Armand was with Lestat when he left to New Orland? How do you think Armand would influence Louis and Claudia? And how would their relationship with Lestat?
(There was a good reason why Lestat and Gabrielle didn’t take Armand with them then, namely that Armand was too broken at that point, but for the sake of it:)
IF Armand had come with Lestat and Gabrielle, and had been with Lestat after Gabrielle left he would have encountered Marius with him. (Show and book, since we already know Lestat encountered Those Who Must Be Kept).
And for Armand to go with Lestat to NOLA then… their relationship must have been quite different, to leave Marius behind.
So… IF Armand had gone to NOLA with Lestat… there would not have been a Louis, and no Claudia.
Because Lestat would not have been looking, since he had his hands… full. With whatever their relationship would’ve been then.
And even IF Lestat had found Louis nonetheless and some of it would have unfolded as we know there wouldn’t have been a Claudia, and if … not for long. Because Armand ticks a bit differently than Lestat. And he was the older one and the coven master, and considering how that bleeds through throughout the books… he‘d have killed her to get rid of her. As he usually does with young ones, too.
And just as he does in Paris 🤷🏽‍♀️ (well, minus the surgery maybe).
So sorry^^, but I don’t think that would have happened or is a scenario that would have been possible.

Soo @whatever-lola-wants tagged me in a thingy! 💜 Here are 4 fictional characters that I believe represent my personality (with a little lot of self-indulgent projection on the side) (this is mostly going to just be characters I cherish, leave me alone)
Ozzie from Animal Crossing. He is funny, kind, loves snacks, and talks to the bugs in his floors (and hates when they fight). Doesn't like when people are mean. Always hungry. I love him with my whole entire heart. 100% would die for him.
Tumblr media
Yuna from Final Fantasy 10/10-2. She loves and protects her friends, fights for what's right, and puts others' needs before hers. Went to the literal ends of the earth for her true love. Packed a suitcase full of gifts to give to people on her journey to die. Skilled in pretending everything's okay and calling out creepy men. She doesn't know me but we're besties.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Emma from The Following. She's stoic, shy, and loyal to a fault. Would literally kill to fit in. I can see myself being swept up and falling in love with a hot and charming murderous cult leader who gave me a crumb of attention. (minus the stabby stabby) (p.s. she didn't deserve what she got)
Tumblr media
Claudia from Warehouse 13. She is way smarter than I could ever hope to be, but she's nerdy, silly, honest, and would do anything for her found family. Self-conscious and self-deprecating (but getting better). Could rule the world if she got out of bed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there you have it! I told you this would be more projection than facts. I tag anyone who sees this and wants to join in on the fun (sorry I can't be assed to tag anyone but I really hope yall do it and tag me cause I wanna see!!)

Home for the Holidays (1)
Pairings: Steve Harrington x Henderson!Reader
Summary: Everything looks just about the same, minus the few stop signs that were added to the town’s main street or houses that got renovated. It never fails to amaze you how quickly things can change around here, even if you’ve only been gone a few months. Either way, it still feels like home.
Warnings: Language, very minor anxiety mention. It’s a clusterfuck, brace yourselves.
Words: 2.3k
Part: 1/5? 6? idk yet
A/N: I’ve been thinking about doing this mini series for a few days and I'm absolutely in love. Also thank you so much @harringtown for letting me ramble about my ideas. As always, feedback is loved and appreciated :) Not my gif!

With a week before Christmas, to say your apartment had any sort of holiday cheer would be an understatement. There’s not a wreath on the door, a lit tree in the corner, or stockings hanging on the wall. You don’t mind this, neither does your roommate, Luke. Buying gaudy ornaments that would just shatter on the hardwood didn’t sound appealing. So, the two of you agreed the home would remain free of decor this season.
Luke sits across from you, delicately tying a bow around the present you asked him to wrap. Between work and finals, you saved preparing for the journey home until the very last second. This resulted in the living room floor being covered paper scraps, mismatched ribbons, and somehow glitter. Turns out, keeping your apartment ridden of Christmas is harder than you thought.
“Jesus, do you think you bought enough?” Luke gestures towards the pile of presents that remain untouched.
“Well, most of them are for Dustin, and I wanted to get The Party something they could all use together,” You try to explain, “They’re all just growing up so fast I don’t know what interests them anymore.” You say with a huff, grabbing another present to begin wrapping.
“And this all has to be done tonight?”
“Unless you want to wake up early tomorrow morning before we leave to do it, yes.” Luke doesn’t say anything after that, seemingly content with staying up late.
Two weeks ago, he let it slip he wasn’t visiting his family over the holidays while your mother was on FaceTime. To her, that was just simply unacceptable and insisted he’d join the Henderson household for break. To this day, you aren’t sure how spending time in Hawkins is more enjoyable than with his family in Colorado, but nevertheless, he agreed.
Of course, it took some convincing from you and your mother. He didn’t want to impose on any of the silly traditions that your friends and family have taken up over years. But your mother had no problem setting out an extra placemat for her Christmas Eve feast. Honestly, having Luke come put your nerves at ease. It’s always a little overwhelming to return to Hawkins.
The two of you don’t talk for nearly an hour, engrossed in perfecting box corners. “Wait,” He says breaking the silence, looking around the floor. You don’t look up, you’re too busy googling how to wrap a mug. “All of these are for the kids–” He points to the still growing pile of presents beside you.
“Teens,” You correct, knowing they’d have your head on a stick for being called anything else.
“Right, teens. These are for your mom,” He gestures towards only a cluster of gifts, “Then these are Robbin, Nancy and her boyfriend…”
“Johnathon,” You fill in the name for him.
“Yes, Johnathon,” He trails off again, still looking at the remaining presents behind you. “What’d you get Steve?”
You look up at him then, the worries of the unwrapped gift lost somewhere in the back of your mind. “It’s back home.” You shrug simply, hoping he’ll drop the subject.
“You haven’t been home since the summer, how is that even possible?”
“If I tell you, you can’t laugh,” You warn. He only raises his pinky as a silent promise. “When we were younger, we made this time capsule thing and said we’d open it once we were in college. When it felt right. I don’t know it… It feels right.”
“Oh,” He sings, “Is this how you’re finally going break the news you’ve been in love with him for the past ten years? Very Hallmark-y.”
“Don’t be a dick about it!” You laugh, throwing an empty tape roll at him.
“I’m not!” He quickly stifles his laughter, trying his best not to smile. “How were you even planning on giving that to him, dig it up yourself?”
“I don’t know, shovel with a bow? We always said we’d do it together.” Luke laughs at this, not even trying to hide it anymore.
“You cannot give him a shovel and a bow!” He practically screeches.
“I thought it was cute and sentimental!” You try your best to sound angry but fail between laughs, “Fuck it, now I’m insecure. He’s getting something else.”
“No, no, it’s really cute. Also, Christmas is literally in a week.”
“We’ll just go get something with Robin, easy.” You say, unlocking your phone to attempt wrapping the mug again.
“Suit yourself. Either way, I think you should tell him. I could even be your wingman.” He says, going back to whatever present that held his attention before.
“Fuck off,” You chuck a wad of discarded wrapping paper towards his head, settling into quiet once more.
The drive to Hawkins took longer than expected. You never realized how often Luke peed even with him living across the hall. By the time you make it past city limits, you’re exhausted.
Everything looks just about the same, minus the few stop signs that were added to the town’s main street or houses that got renovated. It never fails to amaze you how quickly things can change around here, even if you’ve only been gone a few months. Either way, it still feels like home.
Unlike main street, your house looks exactly the same as you pull into the driveway, under all the Christmas lights that is. They don’t look the best, you aren’t sure how your mother tricked Dustin and the others to hang them, but it was a good effort.
You don’t need to be inside to know the obnoxious wallpaper hasn’t been removed and the green paint is still chipped. No matter how many times you’ve told your mother the house is screaming for a makeover, a part of you has missed the outdated abode. Not that you’d ever say it out loud.
Your mother screeches as she opens the door, sprinting down the steps before you can even get out of your car. “Dustin! Y/N’s home!” She calls, pulling you into a tight hug.
“Hi, Mom.” You manage to say. “Hey, nerd!” You call towards your brother standing on the porch, refusing to step into the cold air. Even from here you can tell his hair is a little longer and he stands a little taller since the last time you saw him.
“You must be Luke,” Your mother exclaims, throwing her arms around him as well. “It’s nice to finally meet you in person.”
“You too, Ms. Henderson.”
“Oh, please, call me Claudia.” She waves her hands in dismissal. “Dustin, come help grab some bags!” With a groan and a single eyeroll, he obeys. You ruffle his hair as he passes you.
The four of you take separate trips unloading bags until finally it’s just the presents left. Dustin’s retreated back into his usual spot in the living room and your mother puts finishing touches on dinner. You and Luke, however, are bent over the trunk, trying your best to organize the boxes into piles.
Somewhere behind you, a car door opens and closes. You don’t pay much attention, too focused on separating Dustin’s gifts from everyone else’s.
“Well, well, well, look who it is,” You don’t need to turn around to know the voice belongs to Steve. By the time you turn around to face him, you’re already grinning.
“Steve!” You squeal, running into his open arms. You breathe him in for as long as time allows, his scent almost foreign from months spent apart. When he holds you, as cliché and Hallmark-y as it sounds, it feels right. “I thought you weren’t getting in until tomorrow.” You say, reluctantly pulling away from this warmth.
“I finished finals early, thought I’d stop by to see if you were home yet.” He shrugs, shoving his hands into his pockets.
“Wow, Steve on top of his shit? Who are you and what have you done with my best friend?”
“Maybe the thought of seeing you made me want to finish early,” He says coolly. You roll your eyes out of habit, despite the butterflies erupting within your stomach.
“Keep it in your pants, Harrington.” You’re about to ask him a list of questions, how’d your finals go? Did you pass sociology? How’d your economics professor like your project? You wanted to know everything, to tell him how much you’ve missed him and talking on FaceTime doesn’t do it justice.
But the conversation was cut short at the arrival of a stranger beside him. She had long, black hair, rosy cheeks from the cold, and an award-winning smile. She was absolutely stunning.
“Oh shit, sorry,” Steve laughs, throwing an arm over her shoulders. “Y/N, this is my girlfriend, Margot.”
And there it was.
For a moment you swear the world stopped turning. A range of emotions wash over you, jealousy, anger, sadness. You can’t tell which one you feel the most. The butterflies you felt moments ago slowly died, you’re afraid if you say a word, you’ll cough wings onto the pavement.
“It’s wonderful to meet you, Steve never shuts up about you.” She giggles, cuddling closer into his side to shield herself from the cold.
The irony, Steve never mentioned you once.
“Wow, hi!” You sound overly cheerful once you break from your trance. “Luke?” You choke, desperate to find a way out of the conversation. It feels like an eternity as he makes his way towards you. “This is my boyfriend, Luke.” He freezes for a moment, cocking his head slightly to the side, something he always does when he’s stunned. you don’t think the couple notices “Luke, this is Steve and his girlfriend, Margot.”
“I thought you were just roommates,” Steve looks between the two of you, quizzingly.
“We didn’t know how to tell everyone, especially our parents.” Luke says, snaking his arm around your waist.
“Yeah,” You cough, “We didn’t want the judgement of moving in together so quickly, you know how Claudia is.” You force a chuckle, leaning into Luke’s side more. Steve only laughs, nodding in agreement, seemingly buying the story. There’s an awkward silence that follows.
“Well, we’ll let you get situated and spend time with your mom and brother. He misses you a lot, but you didn’t hear that from me.” Steve says finally, smiling down at the girl wrapped around him. “Good meeting you, Luke. We’ll see you both tomorrow?”
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world.” You stretch your lips into what hopefully looks like a smile towards the two of them. Margot offers a shy wave before they turn to leave.
The two of you walk quickly inside, neither of you speaking. You tell your mother the two of you need to freshen up before dinner, an excuse to get her off your back for more than five minutes. You beeline towards your bedroom, Luke following closely behind.
“What the fuck was that?” He whispers, once safely inside your bedroom.
“I don’t know, okay? I panicked. I was completely ambushed with his girlfriend. Since when does Steve have a girlfriend? And why didn’t he tell me?” You say, your pacing is muffled by the carpeted floor. “This is fine, right? Yeah, this is totally fine. We can pretend we’re dating for a while. And when we get back home, we can just say we’re better off as friends. No harm done –and nobody has to know.”
“I’m sorry, you do know that I’m gay, right?” This made you freeze. You had assumptions, he never outright told you, you never asked.
“Yes? No? Maybe? I don’t know –I mean I thought so but you never told me!” You scramble for an answer to his question.
“I thought you knew, I figured you heard my Grindr notifications!” He whispers, flailing his arms as he speaks.
“That’s what that sound is?” You start pacing again, mind reeling with ways to get you out of the mess you created. “I could just say I meant to say roommate instead of boyfriend, yeah?” You nod, as if that was the solution to your problem. “Fuck, no, we can’t even do that –you went along with it!” You tug at your hair in frustration, “What are we going to do?” You sigh, running your hands over your face. Despite it being freezing outside, your face is hot to the touch. “You know what, I’ll just tell the truth. I’ll say I panicked and you were just being a good friend.” You say with a sigh.
“No, don’t do that you’ll look desperate and make us both look stupid.” The two of you stare at each other for a moment. You feel as though you could burst into tears, from embarrassment or anxiety, you can’t be sure. “Hey, hey, hey. It’s okay,” His voice is calmer now, it’s the one he uses when you’ve had a bad day at work or when you got stood up on a date. Just the sound almost makes you sick. “I pretended to be straight all of high school, I’m pretty sure I can do it again.”
“Did everyone believe you?” He opens his mouth as if he’s going to agree but quickly shuts it once more. “Oh my god, we’re screwed.”
“Hey, I was in theater, how hard can this be?” You let out a laugh, a sad one, but a laugh nevertheless.
“And on the bright side, we’ll never fall in love with each other like they do in the movies.” You try your best to find light in this newfound situation, mainly for yourself.
“Even if I were straight, you’d be the last person I’d want to date. You’re a nightmare to live with.” Luke admits dryly.
“Okay, ouch.” You grumble, taking a seat on the edge of your bed.
Happy Holidays, everyone. You think to yourself as you fall back onto your childhood sheets. But by now you should know, Christmas never goes as planned in Hawkins.

how we got here || claudia & cillian
Discord thread featuring: claudia & @cilliankelly
When: late night feb 25th, 2020
Mentions: @judetaylorhq
Description: claudia and cillian make up.
TW: addiciton
Claudia.
Claudia knew this was a bad fucking idea. She knew that there was a pretty decent chance that she was going to go home fucking crying tonight. Good thing lemon was at home ready with plenty of weed and warm hugs. She was out of work a bit earlier than normal, but it was still late. Dark. It felt weird meeting Cillian like this. Like they were having a formal meeting to discuss some type of business. She was unbelievably nervous. More nervous than she’d ever been when she was with Cillian. Before all of this bullshit, she was able to just be herself around him which was one of the reasons they had been so close in the first place. One of the many reasons, of course. She spotted Cillian in the window in a booth. She sighed. Taking one last hit of her cigarette, she walked into the diner. She threw her backpack down in the booth before sitting down across from the male. “Hey.” She said flatly.
𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲
cillian may have reached out to claudia because jude had suggested it, but that didn't mean he hadn't wanted to try and sort things out between them anyway. things were still weird between them, but cillian had meant it when he tld her he'd missed her. he had. and cillian was hoping that maybe somehow they could go back to being friends again. the fact that claudia was meeting him at all was a good sign, though cillian was trying not to be too hopeful. he still felt kind of uncomfortable about the whole thing. after all, they'd said some pretty nasty shit to each other just a few days ago. maybe it was too soon. but there was no going back now and cillian looked up at claudia as she slid into the booth across from him. "hey," he replied, not really sure how to get things started. it used to be so much fucking easier.
Claudia.
hey? That was all she was getting? He was the one that wanted to talk after all. So why did she just get a hey? She resisted the urge to roll her eyes by closing them and taking a deep breath. She opened her green eyes and they fell on the person who seemed to be a complete stranger in front of her. But he wasn’t. The was Cillian. She had said so many things to him that she regretted. But she wasn’t going to break first. Instead, she sat there in silence and glared over the table at him, her green eyes narrowing only slightly pair a very amused scowl on her face. “So...” she prompted.
𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲
cillian sighed, running a hand through his hair before leaning forward, arms on the table. his knee was bouncing up and down like crazy under the table. "look, claudia, neither of us are good at this. i don't know what i'm doing. but i wanted to figure this out. us out. because i do miss you and shit and i want you in my life. so whatever this..." he gestured vaguely between them "weird bullshit is, we have to talk it out. which i fucking hate doing but we've been putting it off for too long. i wanna be your friend again."
Claudia.
Claudia clasped her fingers together and sat back in the booth. She rubbed her temple in frustration as she thought about how to even respond to that. "I miss you, Cillian." She confessed, looking over the table at him. She could feel her heart beating in her ears. "You get me like no one else does and you seem to be the only person in the world who knows what I'm going to do before I do it. You were...are a great friend." She nodded once then looked down at her hands. "But are we ever going to be able to go back to the way we used to be? Minus the fucking and all..." She asked.
𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲
cillian hadn't expected claudia to be so open with him so quickly and it caught him a little off guard, left him a little vulnerable, and he felt his shoulders sag a little as her words settled over him. their relationship was a complicated one. cillian also felt that claudia understood him on a level that no one else did. she just got what he was about, she didn't question him, she just... accepted him for everything that he was and didn't expect anything more from him. and cillian did the same for her in return. but their relationship was also complicated in that it was always so tangled up with sex. and while cillian had always considered claudia a friend, there was a period of time that he had a lot of time separating the two things. but cillian wanted to try. because he cared about claudia. and although it took him a long time to realize it, he did love her. she was family. and cillian couldn't imagine his life without her in it. "why can't we?" he asked her, his voice quiet, serious, more so than usual. "i mean what's stopping us from just... being us again. what's the hang up? i'm asking seriously."
Claudia.
"Because it's...because you...I..." She actually didn't know what was keeping them from just being them again. Like - she really couldn't quite place why. It's be weird for most people, sure. But Cillian and Claudia weren't most people. They were almost their one breed. They could very easily put this all behind them and just be them again. But Claudia also thought that she probably shouldn't put this all behind her. That she should grow and learn from it - maybe even, like, become a better person or something. And she didn't want to keep hurting Cillian and Jude. She did love them, and she didn't want to constantly be a burden on their happiness. "I don't know, Cillian." She sighed defeatedly.
𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲
cillian nodded. he didn't know either. everything had been fucked since the night the three of them slept together for the first time. they'd been so confused, and while they may not be in love with each other as jude had originally thought, there was something to that. the way they needed each other. and cillian did need claudia. maybe not in the same way he had when they'd been sleeping together, but even still, his relationship with claudia was unlike any he had with anyone else. and while he didn't always appreciate it and often took her for granted, he recognized now that she was precious to him. "i think we just... need to get it all out there. and try to actually like... talk. instead of you know... getting into a shouting match or something." he cleared his throat then, a little awkwardly, and paused for a moment before he looked up at claudia again. "this is gonna be gross, but i need to get gross for a second, okay? you're important to me. i care about you. and more than that i just... i love you. and i'm sorry. like, so fucking sorry for all the bullshit i put you through."
Claudia.
Claudia's eye actually got wide when Cillian cleared his throat like he was actually...oh. He was really going to get gross like this. She knew getting like this was hard for him, and that it was something that he rarely ever did. Of course, it was hard for Claudia too. They both had hard exteriors - a defensive mechanism to hide and deflect of all of their bullshit.  Letting their guards down like this was uncharted territory for Claudia and Cillian. Her throat tightened as she listen to him speak. "Cillian..." She put her hand over her eyes because she was not about to cry in the middle of this diner. She collected herself before she looked up at him. There was this one time in NA when their group leader was talking about forgiveness. Asking for forgiveness and forgiving others (something about forgiving yourself too, but Claudia was no where near ready for that). She was finally ready to do that, and, by the sound of it, Cillian may have been ready too. "I love you, too. "I-I'm so sorry." She choked. "I'm sorry for all of those terrible things I ever said to you. And I didn't ever think I could take you from Jude. I know how you feel about him. I just said all of that to hurt you guys. It was fucked up. I'm...sorry."
𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲
it really had been hard for cillian to open up to claudia like that. but once he got started he felt the words come more easily, as if he'd been holding on to those feelings for a long time, waiting for when he was ready to share them. he knew this was difficult for claudia as well, the two of them really were so much alike, which made the words all the more meaningful. in a lighter situation, cillian probably would have teased claudia for getting choked up sitting across from him in a booth at a fucking diner, but cillian couldn't help but feel the weight of her words settle over him and get emotional as well. it was hard being this vulnerable with someone that cillian had previously found untrustworthy. but fuck did he want to trust her and believe every word she said was true. maybe this was easier for him then it was for jude. maybe part of that was because he knew how badly he'd needed someone to believe in him when he was at his lowest. jude had been that person. claudia needed someone like that now. and cillian really wanted to be that for her. "i know that the way things happened... i know that hurt you. and i'm sorry if we made you feel like we were using you. we really ween't i mean... fuck, we need you claudia. i just... don't think we knew why or what that meant."
Claudia.
Truthfully, Claudia needed Cillian and Jude too. There wasn't a world in which she could imagine getting around without them. It had been months of fights and fucks to get to this conclusion. They were her family. She'd lost hers way too long ago, and couldn't seemed to realize that she found another one when she did. She felt a single, fat tear roll down her cheek and she wiped it away quickly. She briefly looked around the diner to see if she knew anyone. This was embarrassing. Actually, It was almost good that this was in public or else she'd about lose it. "No one knew...I know..." She mumbled, nodding in understanding. "And I'm sorry for being a toxic bitch..." She almost laughed because that sounds ridiculous. "I mean...I just want to be a positive person in your life." She sniffled.
𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲
cillian smiled at that, a soft sort of amused but genuine smile. "look, i don't expect you to be a ray of sunshine or anything. you're claudia fernandez. if you don't tell me to fuck off every once in awhile i'd be worried about yah." the three of them had all been lost in their own way. but together they had found something worth protecting. worth cherishing. it had nearly broken down and cillian suspecting there would be more rough patches in their future. but he was hopeful. "look... i wanna do whatever i can to support you with your recovery or whatever. if you still want me to. i'm actually pretty proud of you and stuff," he admitted before grimacing, though playfully so. "that was really fucking gross, i'm so sorry."
Claudia.
The artist managed to smile lightly, and even let out a tiny chuckle. "C'mon. I could never be that positive." She joked, the cleared her throat. It meant a lot to her that Cillian was willing to support her during her recovery. "Yeah ,well...I'm proud of you too. For coming out, and studying for your permit and shit..." She smiled lightly. "But really...thank you." She left out one last sniffled before grabbing the napkin on the table and fixing herself. She cleared her throat then suddenly found herself getting up to sit next to Cillian to pull him in for a hug. She actually hadn't realized that they never really hugged all that much before until now. Not like this at least.
𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲
cillian didn't think he would ever get used to people telling him they were proud of him. it wasn't something he heard a lot growing up. he figured this was probably the case for claudia as well which was why it was important that he told her. he watched her as she stood, confused at first before she rounded the table and sat beside him, pulling him into a hug. this wasn't something cillian was used to either. and though he was hesitant at first, fuck, he needed this right now. they both did. he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into his side and holding her tightly. fuck, he'd missed her so much. he didn't think h'd realized how much until this moment. and he knew that things would never go back to normal. but he also knew that they'd figure out a new normal, a better normal, and he was more than okay with that. especially if it meant that claudia was theirs again. their best friend. their family.  cillian was quiet for a moment, just holding claudia in the booth, his breathing steady as he tried not to lose it. and then, quietly, he mumbled into her hair. "i forgive you, claudia." because he felt it was important she heard him say it.

but yeah like
Two years before, when the world had seemed darkest, Soren began to imagine Ezran as a kindling flame, a bright little light holding back the abyss. When he’d named Corvus a Crownguard, he’d told him that the young king was not only Katolis’ hope, but all of Xadia’s, too.
Soren had sworn to protect and tend that light. To nurture it. And in his darkest moments, that oath gave him a reason to feel strong again, a way to keep smiling.
and
They said that, sometimes, we make sacrifices so that the ones we love don’t have to. It’s part of protecting them—part of protecting you. Taking on hard choices and going to dark places is an act of love. It’s a gift.
So, please let me give you this gift, Callum. Stay safe, and stay in the light. Don’t follow me, and don’t look for me. I don’t think you’ll find me, anyway.

So Close - S.S. XXXIII
Summary: The universe has a funny way of putting the things you want right in front of you, but just out of reach. Stiles and Y/N have been best friends ever since Scott brought him home, but when Stiles realizes that he might want to be something other than best friends, she leaves to go to some fancy private school up North. Now that she’s back though … maybe he’s got a shot? A Teen Wolf AU in which the reader has always been so close to Stiles and yet so far.
Masterlist    Prev. | Part 33
Word-count: 3.4k+
A/N: i would like to personally thank every person who got bored during quarantine and found my blog. i see you. i love you. thank you for reading and sticking around💕
Tumblr media
The McCalls and the Stilinskis had always been such close parallels of one another that you’d gotten used to your families doing things together and making progress at the same time. Scott and Stiles started school at the same time, you never very far behind. Claudia died before Raf left, but it felt the same in the long run. Family dinners every Thursday, Noah teaching each of the kids to drive in the Jeep, and Mel helped you all with your homework.
Two families, but not really.
That’s why it was so weird that Noah was going out on a date. His first date in maybe ten years. With Lydia’s mom.
“Oh, I should’ve gotten a haircut,” Noah mumbled as he checked himself out in the mirror.
“Well, you know, someone your age should be happy you still have hair to cut,” Stiles said, pushing the mirror down so Noah would pay attention to him.
“I think you look great,” Scott said.
You took a step forward and fixed Noah’s tie for him. With a smile, you said, “Yeah, like a silver fox minus the silver.”
“Well, thank you, children I should have had,” Noah said pointedly.
Two families, but not really.
Stiles kept trying to pry information out of his dad so you moved out of their way as they bickered. At least that wasn’t changing anytime soon. You and Scott were still making jokes about how long it’d Noah to reach his limit and leave for his date early when you heard some yelling from the bullpen. It was so venomous that you thought your ears would bleed.
The four of you left the privacy of Noah’s office to find Parrish and Clarke holding back some kid who was trying to make a run for the office. The kid was threatening to kill Noah.
“Donovan, if you think that shocks me, remember that it was well-documented in your Anger Expression Inventory,” Noah said, clearly unfazed by the death threats. “Deputies, escort the prisoner out.”
“No, I’m not angry like I’m gonna throw a brick through your window,” Donovan said, still trying to break through the deputies’ grip. “I’m angry like I’m going to find you, like I’m going to get a knife, and like I’m going to stab you with it until you’re dead. And when you look at me and you ask why, remember right now. Because this is why.”
His heart rate didn’t rise or drop as he threatened. It was steady the entire time; like a drum keeping time to a death march. He wasn’t bluffing; Donovan really believed that he was going to kill Noah.
“Wow, that was awesome,” Stiles said next to you. He had his arms crossed in front of him and was wearing the least interested, most sarcastic expression in his arsenal. But his heartbeat said something else. “That was awesome, really. That was great. Wanna do one more?”
Donovan’s heartbeat was starting to rise.
You put a hand out to catch one of Stiles' gesturing hands to get him to stop. It's not that you were afraid of Donovan, but everything about the situation felt wrong. His hand was moving so you settled on the top of his arm. “Stiles-”
“Come on, give us another one,” Stiles went on. “Maybe like Christopher Walken this time, you know?” He finally noticed your hand and folded his hand over his chest again to hold yours. “Okay, you know what? It’s fine. You’ll have plenty of time to work on it when you’re in your tiny, little cell. You know? Just stuck there. Forever.”
Donovan faked turning around for a second before doubling back and lunging for Stiles. You pulled Stiles behind you as Scott and Noah moved in front of him and Parrish and Clark restrained Donovan. He was still yelling about how he was going to kill Noah as he was being dragged out of the station.
You hoped he’d rot.
The three of you weren’t even five minutes out of the station when Kira called about Lydia finding a body. Stiles made an only-slightly illegal u-turn and drove you guys to the scene - Donovan’s police transport van. Your blood ran cold as the bodies were wheeled past you and you reached for Stiles’ hand.
Noah waved you guys over to him. “Scott, you saw this kid - Donovan. He … he wasn’t like you, right?” “I don’t think so,” Scott said.
“Unless he knows how to hide his scent,” Stiles said.
“Well, human or otherwise, this kid might have just murdered his lawyer and mortally wounded two officers,” Noah said. Deep frown lines were already etched into his forehead, despite only being at the scene for five minutes. “We’ve got an APB out on him, but you think you can find him faster?”
“I can try,” Scott said.
“I’ll stay in case he doubles back,” you said, with a nod in his direction.
Something caught your eye in the rafters of the alleyway and you busied yourself trying to focus on it amidst the flashing lights and police chatter. It felt familiar, sinister. But it disappeared before you got the chance to find it.
Stiles touched your arm lightly, drawing you back to all the noise. “Hey, you okay?”
“Yeah,” you lied. “Just a bit on edge. It felt like …”
“Like what?” Stiles asked.
You looked back up to that spot in the rafters. “Like Theo.”
---
“Tracy wasn’t just having trouble sleeping,” Lydia said for the second time. “It was a real disorder. It was night terrors.”
“Right, well, now she’s the night terror,” Stiles said. “Especially since no one can find her.”
“Okay, I know we’re all tired and miserable-” Scott paused to look at Mason, who was completely enthralled by the conversation. “Except for you.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. This is all just mind-blowing,” Mason said. He looked over at Kira. “You’re a Kitsune. I don’t even know what that is!”
“I’m still learning,” Kira said with a smile.
“Liam, we said you could tell him, not invite him to the inner circle,” Stiles said.
“Uh, I’m in the inner circle?” Mason asked.
It made you laugh. Mason reminded you of a much sweeter, much more curious version of Scott when he was younger. Also much less annoying.
“No!”
“Look, guys,” you said, putting your hands on the bus as you thought over how to phrase it. “Tracy is dangerous, no doubt, but she’s a lone wolf. Lone wolves don’t survive. We have to find her.”
“One lone serial-killing wolf,” Malia said
“Uh, she only killed one person, you know,” Stiles said, tilting his head. “The other two were just mauled.”
“So what do we do once we find her?” you asked.
“I say we put her down,” Malia said, almost without hesitation.
“No way,” you said. “Tracy isn’t in control. You guys didn’t put me down when I wasn’t in control.”
“Uh, I tried,” Malia said. “Remember?”
“Vividly,” you said in a low voice.
“Woah.” Mason’s sweet little voice broke through the tension. “Intense.”
Yeah, that was one way to describe it. It was intense as you butted heads with Malia and intense when Liam pulled the fire alarm so you could get Tracy out of the school. Intense when something metallic started pouring out of her mouth.
“Now, this silvery substance at her lips ...” Deaton said quietly. “It’s not something I’ve seen before. It looks almost like mercury.”
Tracy started moving on the exam table and everyone took a step back except for you.
“Can’t you just give her a shot of something?” Malia asked.
“She doesn’t look to be in any pain,” Deaton said.
“I meant a shot to kill her,” Malia said.
You turned your back on Tracy so you could get a good look at Malia before you started arguing. “Would you stop talking about killing her? She's not that different from you.”
“Exactly,” Malia said. “She wouldn't hesitate to kill me.”
“Regardless of intent, I generally prescribe to a code of ethics that frowns upon such measures,” Deaton said.
“Yeah, Malia, you know we’re not going to do that,” Scott said.
“Well, how do you guys know she’s not gonna kill us?” Malia asked.
“She makes a pretty decent point,” Stiles said hesitantly. He went on, despite your protests, “Either way, eventually I’m going to have to let my dad know she’s here.”
“Agreed,” Deaton said. “And while I may argue against euthanasia, I’m not opposed to a little …” he took a bottle off one the counters and unscrewed the lid. “Extra protection.”
You watched Deaton scatter the mountain ash and your breath hitched. This was your first time actually having to worry about the barrier; your first time being trapped by it. You tried to ignore the trapped feeling as Malia moved around to investigate and just focused on Tracy. You wiped some of the mercury off her chin.
Deaton called you and Scott to hold Tracy down for him so he could try some more tests. He used a scalpel to slice into her arm like you’d seen him do with Derek all those months before, but nothing except Tracy’s breathing changed until the scalpel snapped.
“I think you’re gonna need a bigger blade,” Stiles said, taking a step toward the table.
Scott took a break to check his messages and you helped Deaton flip Tracy over when he found something in her neck. Scott was talking about the condition of the driver from the attack, but you were too focused on Tracy to pay attention to him. Her back seemed fine - until something started moving around her spine.
“I think I know what she is,” Stiles said.
“Would you care to enlighten the rest of us?” Deaton asked. “Because this doesn’t look too good.”
The others came closer as Deaton prodded the movement under Tracy’s skin. It was sickening to look at but you couldn’t look away. And then it burst open, spraying blood all over the room. It was electric. Metallic. You were too busy trying to scrub it off your face to notice what everyone was staring at on the table. And then you got sliced across the face by a tail.
You tried to grab Tracy’s ankle as she landed on her feet, but the paralysis came too quickly. All you could do was watch her break through the mountain ash barrier and run out the door.
“How did she do that?” you asked, panic rising in your voice. Being paralyzed was horrible, too close to not being in control of your body. You hated it.
“I don’t know,” Deaton said. “It’s a barrier no supernatural creature should be able to cross.”
“Scott did it,” Stiles said.
“Once, but it nearly killed me,” Scott said.
“We should’ve killed her!” Malia growled.
“Meanwhile, she’s probably on her way to killing someone else,” Stiles said.
“Can you guys, please, stop talking about killing people?” you asked. Your breathing was labored. You needed to move.
The blood on your face didn’t do anything to ease your panic, but at least you weren’t the only one freaking out. Scott and Deaton were both telling Malia to focus on healing, and she was getting just as angry as you were anxious.
The nerves faded, slightly, as you listened to Deaton explain how to focus your healing. Again, the only thing that put you at complete ease was listening to Stiles’ heartbeat - which was sky-high. It crashed in a few minutes, despite the uncomfortable position he was in, giving you a small sense of comfort.
When Jackson was still the kanima, Derek had started training the wolves to heal from paralysis. Pain was the key. Using Stiles’ heartbeat to drown out the noise, you focused on shifting your claws, and - if that didn’t hurt enough - sank them into your side. If you remembered right, the fraction of time this shaved off the wait wasn’t even worth all the effort, but you had to do something.
Blood, sweat, and tears aside, you weren’t the first one to start moving. Malia was. First, it was the tips of her fingers and then the rest of her hand, movement slowly snaking through the rest of her body. It made you feel dangerously jealous, but it also made you fiercely protective. You wouldn’t let Malia kill Tracy.
Stiles was yelling at Malia to wait for the rest of you, and Scott was reminding her to save Tracy. You were still trying to move but that didn’t mean you couldn’t let Malia know that there would be hell to pay if she killed Tracy.
Malia ignored you as she dragged herself out of the animal clinic.
The minutes that ticked past until you could move again were dreadful. You’d finally started moving again when Theo showed up. He tried to pull you up and you slapped his hand away, telling him to get Scott so you could get Stiles.
It was still weird having the strength to lift him. Your whole body ached from the paralysis, tingling and full of static, but you could still hold up all of Stiles’ weight in your arms like it was nothing. The tear on his chest looked painful. He was struggling to stand, his face accidentally knocking into the side of yours as the two of you slumped over to the exam table.
“How did you find us?” Scott asked.
“‘Cause you work here,” Theo said. “I heard about Tracy. I’ve been looking for you.”
When Stiles could lean against the table on his own, you moved over to help Deaton up. “Why did you look for us?” you asked
“I want to help,” Theo said. No one said anything but you did exchange some looks. “Let me help. It doesn’t have to mean I’m a part of the pack or that you’ve accepted me or anything like that. It just means I can help catch this girl.”
You resisted the urge to roll your eyes but Stiles didn’t make the same efforts. Scott, on the other hand, was actually thinking it over.
“Scott,” Theo pushed. “I can help you.”
“Scott, you can’t seriously be considering this,” Stiles said.
“Guys, whatever we’re doing, we need to do it now,” you said. “Tracy isn’t in control and Malia is … a wildcard, okay? We need to go.”
“She’s right,” Scott said. It sounded like he was still in pain. “We need to go. Now.”
Stiles got to the station as fast as he could, but you still felt like it wasn’t fast enough. Scott led you guys through the already ajar door to the bullpen. All the blood inside sucker-punched you. The lights were out and deputies were strewn across the office space. Scott rushed to where Clark was checking on Noah and Stiles and Theo rushed to the office where Lydia and Kira were. For a moment there was too much happening for you to think.
Then something clicked and your legs started moving for you.
When you got to the basement, Malia was standing over Tracy’s body and you had her up against the wall in an instant, one arm digging into her neck and your other hand pinning her down.
“It wasn’t me!” Malia wasn’t even trying to fight back. “Y/N, I didn’t kill her.”
You pushed forward reflexively before letting go and letting out a frustrated breath. “Then what the hell happened?”
You knelt down to check if there was anything you could do for Tracy, if there was any hope that you could save her. She was still warm, but her heart wasn’t beating and she wasn’t breathing. Mercury was on her lips.
“There were these people-” Malia sounded confused, like this was something that happened years ago instead of seconds. The others came rushing in while she was trying to think of the words. “They had masks. Um, there- there were three of them. I think there were three.”
She thought there were three? Malia seemed too distraught to be lying, but you honestly weren’t sure anymore.
All you were sure about was Tracy lying dead on the floor, scales on one side of her face and claws on her hands. She should have started changing back like the wolves did.
“She’s not changing back,” Deaton said, coming to the same conclusion you did. “We need to get her out of here.”
“What- Hey, absolutely not,” Noah said as he came closer. “This is a crime scene. We wait for the coroner.”
“I think the coroner might be very confused by this girl’s severed reptilian tail,” Deaton said.
“I don’t care.”
“You should,” Deaton said. “Unless you’re prepared to hold a press conference announcing the presence of supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills.”
“Dad, he’s right,” Stiles said.
“Maybe at the clinic we can figure out how to change her back,” Scott said. “Then we call the coroner?”
“There is a line- There’s a line that we have to draw,” Noah said, shaking his head.
“Dad, you’ve already crossed it,” Stiles said. “More than once.”
Deaton tried again and between him and Stiles, something got through to Noah. He said you could take Tracy. Scott scooped her up in an instant and Stiles took your hand in his as you rushed out behind him.
You didn't want to leave Tracy again, but she was dead and Lydia was dying. Lydia would always come first. The five of you got to the hospital as soon as you could, but Lydia was already in surgery. Kira made sure that your mom knew that Lydia had been cut by Tracy’s tail, but then it was just the waiting. And Malia bringing up the men in masks again. Who may or may not have been made up.
Eventually, any chance of you being able to see Lydia passed and you all went home for the night.
Stiles wanted to add the day’s event to his conspiracy board the instant you got back home, but you dragged him to the bathroom to clean up that cut on his chest. All you needed was for him to get a chest infection on top of all this. He took off his shirt while you dug around for the first aid kit.
“Honestly, it’s not that bad,” Stiles said as you turned around. “Your boy Lahey’s done way worse … Hey, what are you- what’s that look for?”
You knelt down in front of him, hand touching his stomach lightly. There was a scar nestled between two birthmarks, long and thin, only an inch or two long and jagged at the sides. The kind of scar you get when someone stabs you.
“Oh,” Stiles said softly. “You know that’s not your fault, right?”
“I never actually said sorry for that.” Your thumb traced the pale line. “I’m really sorry, Stiles. For all of it.”
He gave you a sad smile and covered your hand with his. He lifted it to his lips and pressed a small kiss to it. “I know.”
“How about we get you cleaned up, huh?” you asked.
You disinfected the wound and put a bandage over it, to which Stiles told you you were being dramatic and you told him to take it up with management. The two of you fell into your familiar routine of getting ready for bed to get some sleep in before Melissa came to get you on her way home from work. Every night you hoped she’d forget and you could just stay here.
“Hey, you still awake?” Stiles whispered after half an hour of lying in the dark together.
You rolled over so you were facing him, almost nose to nose, and searched for his hands under the covers. “I might be.”
“I can’t stop thinking about what happened today,” Stiles said. He lifted his hand to the side of your face and ran it through your hair. “I don’t know what happened.”
“I know. Tracy and Malia …” You sighed and shifted around where you lay. “It’s crazy. That thing about men in masks? I don’t think she killed her but-”
“Hey, we had demons in masks trying to kill me like a year ago,” Stiles said. “I guess crazier things have happened.”
“I guess,” you said softly. “I have a feeling this is only the start of it though.”
“Yeah, me too.”
Stiles moved closer and kissed your forehead. He cradled your head and you moved in closer. You fell asleep like that, tangled up and addled with too many thoughts in your head, but at least you felt safe for the first time all day.

The Slutty Webs one Weaves
Title : The Slutty Webs one Weaves
Chapter NO. 5 of 10?
ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Loki’s Asgardian wife learns women write fanfiction about him on a trip to Midgard. She’s edgy for the duration and lets him have it when they get back.
Author: lokilover9
Rating: M
Thor agreed Brianna going to Asgard a good idea as Loki presumed and shielded her from Heimdall's sight as a precautionary measure. Before leaving, the brother's sat observing Little Warrior lead Tony and Pepper to the couch and hand him a usb stick.
"What's this?" He asked.
"A computer virus. My revenge plan was to disembowel Jarvis if you hadn't kept your promise."
Stark eyed Loki who shrugged a shoulder. "Don't look at me. I only learned of it this morning."
"It's my creation, pretty nasty and should be destroyed." Said Brianna.
"How nasty?"
"It bears the potential to wipe out most of New York's power grids."
Tony was momentarily speechless. "I'll do that and am overjoyed you two became friends."
"Me too and sorry for being so rude when you touched my stuff."
"It's alright." Said Pepper.
"No it wasn't. You deserve to know why. Loki mentioned the homeless people right?"
"Yes."
"Dory was the first one I met. Taught me handy street smarts and helped shop for my boy clothes. Ran away from home because her moms boyfriend was a jerk. I encouraged her to call one day and when she learned they split up, convinced her to go home. Really smart person. Dreams of becoming an Astronaut. Anyway, she had a big crush on Captain America and gave me her favorite hat as a gift. Then I met Muriel. A mean looking older lady who was actually super sweet and protected me something fierce. Beat this guy up one night for trying to steal my blanket while cursing him sideways. She loved Chinese food and taught me self defence techniques, like how to poke a hole in someone's brain by shoving a chopstick up their nose."
Everyone's ears and attention piqued as Tony wondered if Muriel was a distant cousin of Sasquatch's. "Hopefully not on live subjects."
"No, silly. On a plastic skull she molded a face onto with clay. I paid for the supplies. Helping police identify people used to be her job in Arizona. Great way to kill zombies though. Best to behead them like with vampires and guarantee they've bit the bullet." Brianna then pulled a gold bracelet with a four leaf clover charm from her pocket. "Muriel was Irish and gave me this for good luck. It's too big so I carry it in my pocket. Before meeting you guys, they were the first people who were super nice to me. I fretted their gifts ruined in the wash."
"I'm sorry." Said Pepper.
"It's okay. I was just a little freaked."
'And nearly built a cave for the abominable snowman.' Thought Stark. "We were more worried about you after the fact."
"I could tell by your happy dance when I woke."
"Hey, badass did one too. In the hall. You didn't see."
Brianna giggled. "Thanks to you both for everything and I'm sorry for lying."
"Meh, we understand."
"I meant about not having a favorite Avenger. It's you uncle Cootyoodles. That's why I sought your help first. The Black Widow was my next stop."
Tony pictured Nat teaching her how to yank teeth out with pliers and felt twice as relieved for keeping that promise. "Nat's eccentric and hates zombies. I'm way more fun." Brianna suddenly hugged him tightly and kissed his cheek. "Awe, Little Warrior. Friends forever?"
"Damn straight!" Then she did the same to Pepper. "I forgot to explain why you're a badass role model. Working so hard to become CEO of a massive company like Stark Industries and executing all that embodies? You rock! I hope to grow up as astute, diligent and athoritative. Maybe I'll run a company one day."
"You already possess those traits and will exceed my achievements."
No one knew that better than Loki who cleared his throat. "Grandmother and Grandfather go to bed early, Min Lille."
"One more minute, please?"
"Alright."
She studied Stark, pondering the best way to implement her request. "You don't have to do this, but… Not all homeless people are bad or crazy like others seem to believe. Many hit hard times and the world is so expensive, they couldn't keep up. No one I met lived on the streets because they wanted to. There just aren't enough shelters or resources available. You're rich Tony and could help them. Will you try?"
As Loki had succeeded with Frigga, those beautiful pleading eyes won her case. "You really know how to pull a guys heart strings, kid. I promise."
Loki wasn't aware she'd intended to ask this, yet was so proud of her. "Min Lille?"
"I know." She politely replied.
"You have to go." Tony suddenly stood and darted for the hall. "Be back in a jiffy."
"Meet him by the elevator, or you'll never leave." Suggested Pepper.
He returned and handed Loki a loaded Iron Man backpack. "More things? Shall I conjure a crate for the bifrost?"
They'd already given her an overstuffed suitcase of clothes and toys and Stark held a gift bag in hand. "Be quiet, you. It's a peanut butter stash. Does Asgard have bananas?"
"Yes." 'Thank the Norn's.'
Tony knelt before Brianna. "I would've packed some tater tots, but you ate them all again."
She smirked. "My goof."
"Rascal. Try to ignore a wee, bitty smidgen, you aren't into girly stuff? We couldn't help ourselves with you off to Asgard."
Brianna pulled from the bag a pink baseball cap that said Warrior Princess in tiny diamond gems and proudly adorned it. "You sure know how to pull a girls heart strings."
"I put some Motown CD's in there too. Teach Dad to moonwalk." Loki sighed, pushed the elevator button and Tony playfully whispered. "From a distance. In case he trips over his own big feet." He hugged her again and summoned Jarvis.
"Yes, sir?"
"Our friend is leaving."
"Goodbye, Little Warrior." Said the AI.
"Bye. Sending you a virtual hug."
She joined Thor inside while Loki shook hands with Tony, his expression saying everything. "Any time. Now get the 'bleep' out of my Tower before I thieve your Daughter."
Brianna shouted as it closed. "There's presents on your bed! I'll miss you!"
Peppers was a black t shirt with gold letters that read Badass Role Model and Tony's was a monsterous box filled with tater tots.
"Don't do it, Butch. If you cry, I'm gonna cry." ***** Loki had purposely slowed the elevator allowing her time to give Thor a drawing.
"Mjolnir in a field of flowers? Thank you fair maiden."
"It's a scratch n' sniff."
"A what?"
Loki picked up Brianna. "You scratch the flowers, then sniff them. The effect is most appealing the stronger you inhale."
Thor took a whiff and wriggled his nose. "Quite the nostril tickler. What should they smell like?"
"Try harder." 'Doofus.'
He took another, looked cross eyed at Loki and began swaying. "...Brother..you…" Then down he went striking the floor with a thud the tip of his nose covered in sparkly dust.
"Sorry, uncle Thor."
Loki chuckled at her wince. "The spell is mild and shall soon wear off."
"Is he hurt?"
Loki let her down to hurle the hefty Thor over his shoulder. "Us God's are resilient. Your uncle once endured a skirmish with the Hulk." After escorting them through a portal and delivering Brother oaf to his bed, he lead Brianna through a second into some woods.
"That was awesome! Will you teach me how to do it?"
"Not in the near future. It's very complicated, darling and I'd hate to think you lost in another dimension." 'Or vanishing one day as an angry teen with a troublesome suitor I dream of throttling.'
"Okay." Brianna nervously scanned the area. "Now what? Carnivores hunt these woods."
"Northern Alberta is home to many. Never go outside without me and none will harm you."
"But wolves hunt in packs and grizzlies are bigger than you."
He booped her little nose. "I'll smell them before they smell us and neither possess deadly weapons in interdimensional pockets."
"Where our luggage is? I tried hiding bigger items in them and the darn things wouldn't come back. Hannah was furious, but I didn't care."
"What did you hide?"
"The back wheels of her Lamborghini, Gallardo. I overheard my Mother tell Claudia she got it from her rich boyfriend."
Loki recalled from spending time with Stark this wasn't a billionaire's vehicle, yet financially unattainable to the average Midgardian. "I see. Did she mention his occupation?"
"Plastic surgeon."
Brianna deserved that minor victory and although he wouldn't encourage it, one cannot preach vengeance a negative path when mapping their own. 'Perhaps he'll be useful to the sluts after I'm done.' "Ah. Care to see what I did while you slept last night?"
"You left me?" She confusedly asked.
He picked her up again. "It was necessary and I returned, yes? I won't abandon you, Og Min Lille."
"Never?"
"Never, darling. "Loki headed for a shack nearby nestled amidst some bushes. With its crooked roof, faded wood and door minus a hinge the structure looked ready to collapse.
"We're staying there?"
"Why not? I'll conjure an outdoor toilet." He teased. "Sheltered of course."
"Ewww."
"Come now. At night we'll have heated beds and during the day, roast squirrels on an open fire."
She scrunched her face in disgust. "Blech! I'd rather eat tree bark."
"You'll get an awful tummy ache."
They entered the dingy space and Brianna instantly focused on the filthy floor covered in forest debris. So intently, she didn't notice the sturdier frames of the structure only visible from within. "How will we keep the door closed and is that poop?"
Loki rolled his eyes at some turds in a corner. "The cabin is made of Brazilian Ebony."
"One of the strongest woods on earth." She commented.
He arched an intrugued brow. "Stained to appear aged, it's also bulletproof in light of human hunters. Consider the other materials deceiving movie props. The 'raccoon' poop is genuine." It vanished with a wave of his hand. "Now, did you mean that door?" It closed and he conjured a deadbolt onto the surface with a panel directly above. "Place your hand in the center?" Brianna did and it glowed green, spreading magic from the center throughout every surface like glowing, emerald fireflies. As they dimmed, Loki turned around. "Or this one?" The floor, suddenly cleared of debris had a sliding glass door in the center.
Brianna gasped in wonder, glancing between him and the mystery beneath. "Where does it go?"
"Did you think a sorcerer Prince would allow his Princess daughter to dwell in a shabby old shack?"
"Ancestry aside, I sincerely hoped not. Even an RV would've been better."
He chuckled at her frankness. "And you worried of uncle Thor bumping his head? The shacks purpose was added safety should a need arise and to keep our secret entrance hidden. "Once the outer door locks, only the interior alters. To outsiders, nothing changes." It opened and he carried her down a mutedly lit spiral staircase, each step progressively illuminating the space below.
At the bottom, she slid from his arm in awe. "Shut the front door! You 'definitely' have to teach me how to do this."
Min Lille was referencing conjuring. Another ability Loki thanked the Norns she didn't yet possess, having confessed so before requesting Tony and Pepper's gifts. "In time. Beyond that archway, another surprise awaits." Loki followed and suddenly pondered Brianna conjuring a future dwelling for herself and that troublesome suitor. 'Lessons commence when your forty.' ***** Thor woke to find two notes in his shirt pocket. One for himself the other, Astrid; 'Sleep well, Brother? We won't be returning to Asgard just yet. Please give this to my wife? I recommend waiting several days, discreet delivery and a hasty exit. A visit will follow and when interrogated, lie. Tell her Brianna came to you and don't mention her ice concoction. Unless you enjoy Father's company when several fries short of a happy meal. As I planned our escape without Tony's knowledge, do avoid his unnecessary panic and Pepper seeking our demise, by not telling our dear friend? Min Lille is safe.'
"That shyster." He grumbled. Jane returned in six days as would Astrid to a missing Loki. Waiting risked a molotov cocktail interrogation. His beloved and coronary inducing sister-in-law, banging down their locked bathroom door while the mighty Thor coward behind a shower curtain. Plus Maxi Waxis training schedule ended in two days. Bribery assured those lips zippered, but Heimdall would think his hastiness suspicious. He called to the trainee in the middle of the night, snuck into the palace and raced back to the observatory like the looney tunes road runner. "Spend it well nincompoo..eh he, Max. Asgard is lucky to have you."
Guilt ridden over her outburst and already missing Loki, Astrid returned in the morning to find the note.
Frigga was preparing to join her belly dancing instructor when she barged into the foyer and flung herself at the Allmother.
"Bwaaahahaa! I want a divorce!"
"Hells bells and bilgesnipe testicles. What has my shameless son done this time?"
"Frigga, your language." Scolded Odin.
She patted Astrid's back. "Oh shush. As if your cursing hasn't scarred the servants ears."

You know, I can't help but stop thinking about how Cinder's Grimm arm reminds me on Peter Pettigrew's silvery hand in Harry Potter. So... Do you think it is possible Cinder might die (that is, if she dies... Which I just assume since I see now way she can be redeemed anymore) not by Ruby's hand, not by Neo's hand, but instead by her own? Like... Literally. Sorry, I couldn't stop myself from making that pun...
Heyo Seaberry! That’s actually a cool observation. Outside of theconnection to Team STQR, Cinder is sort of like Peter Pettigrew, only minus thecowardice. If anything, LeonardoLionheart was more like Pettigrew in terms of personality and motives fortheir betrayal, at least in my opinion. In regards to your question; not tosound negative or anything like that but if I’m being completely honest withyou fam, this squiggle meister is at a bit of a loss on what the CRWBY Writersare doing with the characters and their respective stories; particularly thevillains.
I was already kind of iffy on their choice last season to bring Neo back intothe story to play pawn to Cinder andher schemes. Even now when we’re nearing the finale of V7, I still personally thinkthat Emerald Sustrai wouldhave been the better candidate to be Cinder’s accomplice while in Atlas. Itstill peeves me a little bit that the CRWBY Writers' rationale for Neo's returnin V6 was because "theythought Cinder having an accomplice to Atlas would've been cool" according to the V6 DVD Commentary.
Even though….Cinder has always had accomplices throughout her whole run in RWBY. In V1, she was Roman's formersidekick before she received a promotion within the PLOT and becameSalem's representative with Neo taking over as Roman's right hand protégée asof V2 while Emerald and Mercury became Cinder's primary two goons.
This dynamic was retained until theconclusion of V5 only for Cinder to wind up on her own after suffering ahumiliating defeat by Raven Branwen. If you’ll allow me to get nit-picky here, I’m still in awe that the Writers believed resurrecting afan favourite character for the sole purpose of slapping her with a new backstory that was never previously established in the main canon, repeatingthe same purpose that she had in prior seasons minus the emotional connectionand history was a quote, unquote, “a coolidea”.
In my opinion, it would've been more compelling towatch Cinder all alone; forced to claw her way out of her rut and find her ownway to Atlas Kingdom by her own devices and naturalcunning. It could’ve also been an appropriatetime for the story to touch base on Cinder’s past and how she became themegalomaniac we see her to be now. But nah, let's do the exact same thing we'vealways done with her character. Give her a pawn to manipulate and get to do herbidding.
But at least with Emerald, therewas the established history and relationship between her and Cinder that’s beenhighlighted since the events of V2. Cinder even once referred to Emerald as her‘apprentice’ or rather her ambition was to mouldEmerald (and by extension Mercury too maybe butthe focus was more on Em) into her perfect apprentice in a similar fashion tohow Salem moulded her.
Emerald being Cinder’s accomplice toAtlas would’ve been a great opportunity to not only flesh Cinder out more as avillain but Emerald as well.
But nah, let's side-line the characterwho was actually built up as a close accomplice and apprentice under Cinder formore than two seasons (both before and during the Mistral Trilogy) and had amuch better chance for development in favour of bringing back a belovedcharacter who had zero connection to Cinder outside of being the boss to herformer boss.
I don't care if Miles and/or Kerrypromised Neo's return from seasons before; given how V5 ended, Emerald should’vebeen Cinder’s accomplice to Atlas, exactly like she’s been for several seasons, more so than Neo. We could’ve had a Claudia from the Dragon Prince moment forEmerald where she refused to believe that Cinder’s dead and out of her loyaltyto her, ups and abandons Mercury and Hazel in favour of remaining in Mistral inorder to track Cinder down.
Imagine if…LittleMiss Malachite and her Spiders had double crossed Cinder---but instead of ratting her out to Neo, theywere going to apprehend Cinder to collect the bountiful reward for her captureas advertised all over Mantle as a result of what happened at Haven.
Imagine if…Cinder found herself cornered by theSpiders only to be saved by Emerald of all people, who instantly made waste of the Spiders. Without hesitation,Emerald kills each and every last Spider who dared try and harm Cinder; furtheremphasizing her loyalty to the Fall Maiden as a means of remaining by her side.Imagine if this move even earns Emerald great respect in Cinder’s eyes.
Instead of using Neo, imagine if …Cinderfulfilled the very desire she voiced back in V3. Back then, Cinder said thatshe desired to become someone powerful enough to be feared by others who stoodagainst her.
Instead of using Neo, picture analternative scenario in which, after Emerald had saved her, Cinder returns thefavour by protecting Emerald in a sense from an enraged Little Miss Malachitewho draws a weapon on her. Picture Cinder unleashing her fury on poor MissMalachite; overwhelming the crimeboss by pinning her down with her Grimm arm while her other hand threatened toburn her face off with her Maiden Magic.
Instead of using Neo, let’s say Cinder used her own powers to intimidate a fear stricken Little Miss Malachite into using her resources toget Cinder and Emerald to Atlas in exchange for spearing her life. Let’s say…forwhatever reason, MissMalachite had Spiders in Argus whocould’ve easy commandeered a Atlesian airship from right under the military’snose for her if needed. So that’s what happens. Cinder and Emerald receive whatthey need from Malachite and as soon as she had served her purpose, Cindereither could’ve killed her to prove her power or…chosen to spare Malachite as auseful ally to her and Salem later. That could’ve been a neat, small littlealternative to what was done in the canon.
I guess what bothered me the most aboutthe decision to suddenly bring Neo back was that you didn’t really need Neospecifically for this role of being Cinder’s accomplice for the Atlas Arc.Personally, I think the showrunners missed a golden chance to further developEmerald. Instead of Neo, I would’ve gone with Em since her connection to Cinderactually ties into her own respective story as opposed to some shared vendettaon wanting to kill Ruby. Not to mention that I believe Emerald’s Hallucinationssemblance would've worked just as well as Neo's Illusions; probably even bettersince Emerald could’ve further messed with a target’s mind similar to what shedid with Yang and Pyrhha back in V3.
Nothing against Neopolitan.I don’t dislike her as a character. I just personally feel like this shouldn’thave been the purpose the Writers brought her back into the main story for.
Youbrought her back to be Cinder’spawn. Not sidekick. Not even apprentice. But her pawn. Her tool. Her little ice-cream flavoured puppet. That’sthe best you got for her? A rehash of her last purpose within the PLOT onlythis time with a character who doesn’t share any kind of emotional bond withher and has a better chance at double crossing her once she’s done using herfor her own personal gain.
The only saving grace for this ideawould be if Neo becomes the General Jinjur of the RWBY story and actuallysomehow winds up becoming an unlikely ally to the heroes once she learns herlesson with Cinder. Either that or my “cracktheory” about Neo double-crossing Cinder firstby pilfering the Relic of Creation for herself
But then again, this is only my opinionand these are only my thoughts and ideas.
In terms of Cinder Fall, I have afeeling that they're going to give her a win this time. I'm more leaningtowards the hunch where Cindersucceeds in gaining the Winter Maiden magic with her sights set on acquiring the Relic of Creation; especiallyin the event that Neo fails to claim the Relic of Knowledge from Oscar and asCinder told her, she needs a relic to basically get back on Salem's goodside.
So if Neo fails in retrieving the lamp, the staff will be Cinder's next best option at redemption in Salem's eyes.
Not to mention that I remember hearingsomething about us learning about Cinder's backstory at some point for thisarc. I know the likelihood of her being killed off is there given the way thePLOT suddenly had her and Neo reappear for this season after the end of V6which reminded me an awful lot of how they handed Adam Taurus last season. Butneedless to say, I think it's safe to assume that Cindermay survive for another season or two.

he’s  on  the  ground,  a  shotgun  in  his  face.    the  murderer  has  the  heads  of  his  victims  in  jars,  they  stare  back  at  him  like  the  heads  of  his  sister’s  barbie  dolls  used  to  whenever  he  wrenched  them  free.  it  had  been  a  scientific  experiment,  he’d  said  to  their  mother  when  she,  in  horror,  asked  him  why;  he  wanted  to  see  if  they’d  go  back  on  after.   he’d  always  enjoyed  hypothesis  and  experimentation,  in  seeing  why  and  how  things  reacted  the  way  they  did.   he  applied  those  same  curiosities  to  people,  though  he’d  become  a  profiler  rather  than  a  serial  killer  like  the  man  before  him.   two  different  paths,  same  curiosities.    that  curiosity  however  might  get  him  killed  today.     wait  for  back-up,  his  superior  had  said  on  the  radio  when  he  arrived  at  the  suspect’s  home,  don’t  go  in  there  alone,  avery.     he  hadn’t  listened  of  course.   they  only  had  once  chance  to  catch  the  man  off  guard  and  if  he  waited  ?   there  was  a  chance  he  could  bolt  –  ESCAPE  before  they  could  bring  him  to  justice.    he’s  just  about  talked  the  man  into  putting  his  gun  down,  into  going  quietly,  when  the  local  authorities  show  up  and  ruin  everything.  he  ends  up  splattered  in  blood,  the  murderer  DEAD.   there’ll  be  no  justice  served  today.   he  gets  to  his  feet,  stumbles  out  of  the  crime  scene,  and  punches  the  sheriff  before  leaving.
he’s  summarily  dismissed  from  the  bureau.    conduct  unbecoming.   when  they  hand  him  his  pink  slip,  it’s  with  a  recommendation:   get  some  help.    jokes  on  them,  he  doesn’t  think  there’s  enough  help  in  the  world  to  get  his  head  on  straight.  he  knows  this,  accepts  it  even.
he  gets  the  call  a  few  days  later.   the  NYPD  need  help  tracking  down  their  latest  serial  killer.  “  i  don’t  know  if  i’m  your  guy.  ”   he  relays to  the  man  on  the  phone  —  a  man  who  was  there  for  him  over  the  years,  a  man  he  considered  family.    “  you  should  probably  know  i  was  fired  from  the  FBI  this  week.  ”   —  “  perfect,  that  means  you’re  available  to  consult.  ”    he  is,  so  he  goes.
he  steps  under  the  crime  scene  tape  when  he  arrives,  taking  a  loud  bite  from  his  apple.  it  crunches,  forces  the  other  detectives  to  turn  and  stare  at  him.  “  sorry.  ”    he  apologizes,  though  he  doesn’t  mean  it.   “  late  start.  ”    he  tosses  it  in  the  trash,  listens  to  the  captain  run  down  the  details  of  the  crime.    it’s  a  grisly  murder;   the  woman  was  strangled  with  a  piano  wire,  then  cut  into  pieces  which  were  arranged  into  a  very  specific  pattern.   it’s  a  pattern  he’s  seen  before  —  why  baird  silvermist  has  called  him  in  to  consult  on  this  case.    “  why  is  he  here  ?  ”   the  detective  —  claudia,  frowns  with  her  hands  on  her  hips.   “  we  can’t  just  have  a  civilian  traipsing  around  a  crime  scene,  baird.  ”      jacks  smiles;  bittersweet,  but  a  smile  nonetheless.   “  hi,  i’m  the  civilian.  ”   he  waves  a  hand  in  front  of  her  face.  he’s  never  been  one  to  avoid  an  awkward  interaction.   “  i  know  i  introduced  myself  as  jacks  avery  but  that’s  not  my  given  name.  ”     he  sighs,  takes  another  look  at  the  carnage  around  them.   “  it’s  jackson  elsey.   my  brother  is  vuras  elsey  …  the  pollock  killer.  ”       he  grimaces.   “  what  we  have  here  is  a  CLEAR  copycat.  ”
* * *
it  isn’t  something  he  advertises  —  that  his  brother’s  a  serial  killer.   half-brother,  if  you  want  to  get  technical.  vuras  was  arrested  when  he  was  11  and  he’d  changed  his  name  as  an  adult  to  create  some  distance  between  the  horrors  of  his  past  and  his  future.   as  it  turns  out,  jacks  avery  wouldn’t  be  immune  to  the  pollock  killer’s  influence  either.    pollock,  because  he  spread  body  parts  out  in  such  a  way  it  had  once  been  described  as  art  of  the  most  macabre  threshold.
his  profile  is  coming  together  nicely.  the  copycat  is  someone  roughly  his  brother’s  age  or  older,  who  grew  up  hearing  or  reading  about  the  pollock  killer’s  reign  of  terror  on  the  news.   with  over  42  confirmed  kills,  vuras  elsey  is  known  as  one  of  the  most  notorious  serial  killers  in  modern  times.   his  arrest  was  made  even  more  shocking  given  he’d  been  a  registered  clinical  therapist.  someone  who  was  supposed  to  help  people,  who  was  supposed  to  be  good,  had  simply  used  his  position  to  get  insight  into  human  behaviors  that  he  couldn’t  quite  replicate  on  his  own.   as  a  psychopath,  the  only  emotions  he  ever  felt  were  ghosts  —   imprints  —  impressioned  from  those  around  him.   any  one  of  his  patients  could  be  the  culprit  and  with  bodies  piling  up,  jacks  knew  he  was  running  out  of  options.   if  he  could  do  something  to  get  more  insight,  to  get  a  lead,  and  he  did  nothing  ?    well  he  was  no  better  than  his  brother.   that  blood  would  be  on  his  hands.
so  it’s  with  shaking  hands  that  he  signs  himself  in  at  the  psychiatric  hospital,  pins  a  guest  badge  to  his  chest  and  follows  the  guard  to  v’s  cell.   it’s  a  maximum  security  hospital,  his  brother  only  permitted to  remain  there  so  long  as  he  refrains  from  starting  any  trouble.   his  lawyers  were  sharks  –  they’d  defended  him  to  the  letter,  narrowly  avoiding  the  death  penalty  in  favor  of  a  lifetime  stay  at  asphyxia  medical  center.    10  years  down  the  line  and  the  man  has  his  own  office;    connects  with  clients  via  skype,  or  a  closed  circuit  chat  system.   he  even  has  satellite  tv,  for  crying  out  loud.   (    v   has  friends  and  connections  in  high  places.  even  being  incarcerated  hasn’t  slowed  him  down  any.     the  guard  explains  all  this  on  their  walk.  )      it’s  been  7  years  since  jakson  last  visited.   7  years  since  he  last  looked  his  brother  in  the  eye.
he  remembers  that  gleam.    he  remembers  his  brother  looking  him  dead  in  the  eye,  smiling,  and  saying  words  that  haunt  him.   you  and  i,  we’re  the  same.  you’ll  see.  you  think  solving  murders,  helping  people,  will  atone  for  my  sins  but  what  about  yours?  i  see  your  darkness  and  it  matches  mine.   we’re  the  same.
they  reach  the  door  as  its  buzzed  open.  the  guard  steps  back,  motions  for  jacks  to  go  inside.   he  does,  taking  a  moment  to  collect  himself  before  walking  in.  it’s  …  not  what  he  expected.   there’s  a  bookshelf  against  the  wall  filled  with  reading  material,  a  filing  cabinet  beside  it  presumably  holding  his  patient  records.   the  man  himself  is  sitting  in  an  office  chair,  he  spins  around  to  face  him.   he’s  older  now  —   has  a  beard,  his  hair  longer  than  he  remembers  and  starting  to  grey.   he’s  in  his  40s  now,  but  his  face  hasn’t  aged  a  day.   he  still  looks  the  same  as  he  did  the  day  they’d  put  a  gun  to  his  head  and  forced  him  to  his  knees,  jacks  the  one  who’d  turned  him  in.   he’s  restrained  to  the  chair;   a  feat  jacks  finds  surprising.   it’s  easier  to  stare  at  the  restraints  than  the  man,  so  he  does.
“  well,  well,  well.   i  wondered  when  i’d  see  you  again.  ”    his  brother  speaks  and  jacks  feels  shivers  running  down  his  spine.   he  doesn’t  acknowledge  the  comment,  instead  directing  a  nod  towards  the  restraints.   “  that’s  new.  ”       v  laughs.    “  just  a  precaution.   they’re  worried  we  might  have  a  repeat  of  what  happened  last  time.  ”    jacks  blinks,  confused.    v,  in  turn,  looks  pleased.   “  i  suppose  you  wouldn’t  remember.  you  told  me  you  wouldn’t  be  coming  back,  that  you  were  going  to  college  and  starting  a  ‘  new  life  ’  and  wouldn’t  be  coming  back.  ”   his  lips  turned  down.   “  so  i  asked  you  for  a  HUG  —   a  going  away  present,   and  you,  little  brother,  were  dumb  enough  to  believe  it.  ”    he  smiles,  all  teeth.   “  maybe  memory  loss  is  a  side-effect  of  hypoxia.  hmm.  ”     he  pulls  at  the  restraints  violently,  laughing  wildly  when  jacks  flinches  on  instinct.   shit.  he  was  supposed  to  have  the  upper  hand  here.
“  i  didn’t  come  here  to  talk  about  the  past.  ”   in  fact,  he’d  like  to  pretend  it  never  existed  to  begin  with.   “  i  came  here  to  talk  about  my  case.   mr.  elsey,  on  behalf  of  the  NYPD,  i’m  here  to  —  ”      v’s  eyes  light  up.    “  oh,  i  know  all  about  your  case,  jackson.   i  saw  it  on  the  news.   the  pollock  copycat   …  not  the  most  original  name,  but  then  again  our  sister  was  always  more  beauty  than  brains.  ”      jack’s  stomach  lurches.   their  sister  had  been  6  when  v  was  arrested,  he’d  hoped  that  v  would  have  failed  to  recognize  her  now  as  an  adult.   maybe  it  shouldn’t  surprise  him  that  he  does.   for  someone  so  disconnected,  he  sure  knows  enough  about  what’s  been  going  on.    “  you  think  i  might  know  something  about  your  killer.   or  maybe  you  think  i  did  it.   i’m  good  but  even  i  have  my  limits.  ”   he  smirks.  “  i’m  a  little  TIED  UP.  ”    the  restraints  get  another  pull.      “  hate  to  disappoint,  but  this  one’s  not  on  me.  ”
         —    “  but  you  know  who  it  is.  ”     this  isn’t  a  question.   he  observes  the  way  v’s  shoulders  tense,  how  his  eyes  flit  to  the  filing  case  every  so  often.   these  are  tells  that  give  him  away,  lead  him  to  believe  that  v  knows  more  than  he’s  saying.   “   we’re  working  on  a  profile.   the  killer  is  male,  probably  struggles  with  mental  illness,  and  is  looking  for  purpose  with  these  kills.  they  aren’t  personal  …  none  of  the  victims  have  anything  in  common,  minus  one  thing;   the  clue  that  brought  him  here  in  the  first  place.   “  each  were  murdered  in  the  exact  style  you  adopted.  ”   he  moves  to  the  filing  case,  watches  v’s  eyes  follow  him.   “  which  means  they’ve  studied  you,  mr.  elsey.   very  closely.  ”   —  “  mr.  elsey.  ”    v  looks  amused.   “  let’s  not  play  coy,  jackson.    you  can  call  me  v.    we  are  family.  ”      jacks  doesn’t  rise  to  the  dig,  continues.   “  …  which  leads  us  to  believe  that  the  killer  could  have  been  a  patient  of  yours.  ”    finally  he  looks  back  at  v,  waits  patiently  for  the  man’s  reaction.   he  simply  shrugs,  leaning  back  in   his  chair.  it’s  evident  he  won’t  be  getting  any  information  from  him  and  without  a  warrant,  he  can’t  search  the  files  himself.    “  fine.  that’ll  be  all,  mr.  elsey.  ”   he  turns  to  go;    it’s  a  calculated  risk,  leaving,  but  if  he  knows  his  brother  he  knows  that  fear  of  never  seeing  him  again  —  never  getting  the  opportunity  to  mess  with  him  —  will  be  enough  to  stop  him.    “  WAIT.  ”       he’s  right.
v  gives  him  the  information  he’s  looking  for.   the  information  leads  to  a  half  brother,  one  that  jacks  wasn’t  even  aware  had  existed.    of  course  it’s  a  family  member;   there  isn’t  a  sane  one  of  them  in  the  bunch.    they  use  the  information  in  the  file  to  track  down  the  brother.   he  claims  he’s  innocent,  claims  he  had  nothing  to  do  with  the  murders,  but  they  find  another  victim  in  his  attic  and  he  goes  down  for  them  all.   he’s  found  guilty,  sentenced  to  LIFE.     it’s  only  when  the  murders  resume  again  six  months  later  does  he  realize  that  v  played  him.   he  led  him  to  the  wrong  culprit  and  hid  the  real  murderer  from  him.    it  takes  them  nearly  a  year  to  track  down  the  true  murderer  —   v’s  boyfriend,  aster  silvermist  …  the  NYPD  captain’s  son.

Title: The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living (1?) Who: Rory Daviau & Rosie Daviau Rating: PG Notes: Claudia passes away during childbirth and Rory is grieving while talking to his aunt.  For:  @outfromthesea TW: death, birth complications, parental death
Rory sniffs as he walks through the door, his eyes red from crying most of the day. He knows his mother would’ve preferred him not to cry on the day of her funeral, and that she would’ve wanted him to know that she was in a better place. but it’s hard not to be upset. His mother is no longer with him anymore to make him laugh or to support him. Nor is she there to comfort him when he’s sad like she did when his father died. She’s gone and he has to somehow live without her when she was his whole world, and a world without her sounds bleak and horrific. In a way, nothing even matters without her around and it’s been that way since his mother died giving birth to Joyce. As much as he wanted a little sister during those nine months his mother was pregnant, he didn’t want one that cost his mother her life. And as much as he wanted to not think it was his newborn sister’s fault, it sorta felt like it to him, which made him feel guilty for putting the blame on an infant.
With a heavy feeling in his heart, he walks over to the couch and rests his head on the arm of the couch in his aunt Rosie’s living room. He doesn’t look behind him to see if she enters the room with his sister in her pink carrier, but he can hear Sidney and Rosie whispering and the sound of Rosie placing the carrier on her marble floors. So he’s pretty sure she’s inside by now. And that only becomes more apparent when he hears the door close. He sighs at the sound, then sniffs once again.
“You want something to eat, Rory?” he hears her say after he hears her heels tap closer to the couch. “You haven’t eaten all day and you have to be starving.” She places her hands on his shoulders and he flinches until she begins to rub his shoulders, making him relax a little even though he’s pretty sure the action is going to make him cry again. The idea of eating food his mother didn’t make, after his mother died in such an awful way, feels like a betrayal. Instead of eating homemade food his aunt make,  he prefers the idea of something like McDonalds or Wendy’s. But even then, asking for that feels like a betrayal as well. Since he and his mother used to go to McDonalds and Wendy’s to talk about everything and nothing
So he doesn’t really know how to respond. He doesn’t want to. But he knows he’ll have to, and since he’s upset, he’s gonna respond in Spanish. Not French - because his mother spoke it to him often. Not English - because he hates speaking English when he’s upset. Spanish because he knows Rosie knows it and it’s comfortable to speak something else. “Sure, do we have any pizza rolls?” he asks calmly, picking up his head to look at her instead of burying his face in the arm of the couch. “I’m actually not too hungry but those are really easy to make.” She releases her hands from his shoulders and gives him a kiss on the cheek. A soft smile slowly shows on his lips, causing Rosie to smile brightly right back at him.
Rory knows that if anyone understands what he’s going through, it’s probably his aunt Rosie. While his mother was close to all of her family - minus his grandmother Susana, who was in dramatic hysterics at the funeral, when Rory and the rest of the family knew  she didn’t give a shit about his mother - Rory was aware that his mother was closer to her than anyone else. Rosie was also close to his mother and the two of them used to live together at some point. Rory remembered the time of them living together fondly, and even though he fucking hated the idea of living in a world without his mother, he was thought that it was okay that he was set up to live with Rosie and not anyone one else. But yeah, Rosie knew what he was going through more than anyone. So while he didn’t talk to anyone all day, he spoke to Rosie, and sometimes to Sidney.
“Sure, baby. We have pizza rolls. I’ll make you a whole plate, okay?” she says calmly, sitting beside him. Out of impulse, he places his head in her lap. His mother used to run her hands through his hair when he did that and sometimes Rosie did the same. He hoped that she would now, especially since he needed her to now. While sometimes touch made him uncomfortable, and her surprise from earlier made him tense, he wanted to be comforted now, and honestly needed it more than anything. “Do you need anything else? Do I need to pick up Mina from home?”
She finally begins to run her fingers through his hair and he sighs into her touch, his eyes closing as tears begin to show up just a little bit. If he doesn’t hear her voice he can pretend it’s his mom, but he doesn’t get to do that long because he has to speak. “No, Mina can stay at home. She needs to charge,” he says, talking about his ai that speaks like an Alexa, but is more high tech since he’s made her. "But I don’t need anything. I just need to be away from all of those people you know? Hearing them tell me over and over that they’re sorry for my loss really makes me angry.” He sits up, places his face in his hands, and lets out an aggravated scream. “If I hear it again, I’m going to lose my fucking mind, Rosie. I know that she’s gone, but when people remind me when I’m trying to forget, it pisses me off so much. I want my mom back and I don’t want anyone to tell me they’re sorry when they can’t bring her back.” He doesn’t notice he’s shouting, but he is and the tears that were threatening to roll down his eyes are falling down hard, and in a way that makes him think he’ll never stop. “I just want her back. Please, please - Rosie, bring her back.” He lays back in her lap and lets out another scream. “Bring her back, please. I miss her so much.”

“Flo I am leaving.” I yelled as I headed out of the door. “Take care (y/n) and come to the station immediately after school.” My grandma yelled back.
I was 8 years old when my parents died in a car crash. Ever since then my grandmother, Florence took me in. She always treated me with love and care. Since she worked at the Hawkins Police Station I frequented the place and gradually grew closer to Chief Jim Hopper. He was the father figure I never had. Life was good in Hawkins (minus a few bumps) because I was surrounded by a good set of people.
Before I could go to my desired destination I pulled over across from the Henderson household. I occasionally picked Dustin Henderson up as his house was on the way. Flo and Claudia shared an amicable relationship. Consequently, I was acquainted to Dustin. Time and again I would also volunteer to help around at the A/V club due to which I befriended the rest of the boys or “the party” as they liked to call themselves.
“Top of the morning, Milady. Sorry I made you wait.” Dustin ran towards the passenger side and plopped in.
“Top of the morning to you too, my good sir.” I laughed as I began driving again.
“You look pretty today (Y/n).” Dustin was never one to beat around the bush.
“Thank you Dusty, you look different. You’ve grown taller?” I furrowed my brows as I briefly looked over at the kid who no more resembled the little boy I knew from when he was younger.
“Oh what’s new about me? I think you are referring to these pearls.” Dustin smiled showing off the upper set of his teeth followed by a sound that resembled something between a growl and a purr. I just shook my head as I pulled in front of the Hawkins middle school drop off board.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Dusty.” I pinched his cheek and he immediately swatted my hand away.
“Don’t do that (Y/n) I am a grown man now.” Dustin adjusted his cap as he looked in the rear view mirror.
“Aw, dusty, you’re still my little baby.” I pouted and put my hand on my chest, feigning hurt. Before I could repeat my previous action he jumped out and made a run towards the school.
Once I saw Dustin’s figure disappearing into the school I breathed in a huge sigh before driving towards Hawkins High.
First day of school. Here we go!
