METALLURGY is a minimalist exhibition featuring works by Lewis Kemmenoe, his first solo show, which is now extended on display until October 29th at Max Radford Gallery. Kemmenoe takes inspiration from familiar domestic shapes, using them as a canvas for his innovative experiments. Each piece showcases Kemmenoe’s deep dive into its material essence, offering a fresh perspective on the tactile nature of our surroundings. While the foundation of each object remains rooted in its primary function, Kemmenoe elevates them with a touch that brings out their poetic and personal essence.

Palace in Lomé Exhibition Space and Workshops, Togo, Africa,
The 26-acre grounds include a sprawling building that recalls the European palaces that once hosted kings and queens.
When construction was completed in 1905, the building symbolized colonial power and exclusion under the German empire.
Today, however, the building is open to the public.

Miyoko Ito melded her inspirations — Cubism, Paul Klee, and surrealism filtered through the Chicago Imagists — to her awareness of luminosity and tonality, which came from studying watercolor and ink painting, and to her personal experience. In her art, we glimpse something we cannot comprehend — a sense of longing and mystery, isolation and solitude fill the paintings.
More than 30 years after her death, Ito is having her self-named debut show at the spacious Matthew Marks Gallery.
