⟢ Chapter 1

Over two decades ago, when werewolf hunting was rampant, two young lovers met. They bonded, perhaps sadistically, over their love of the hunt and the adrenaline rush that followed. Quickly married, Carmen and Ramón Grimaldi became well known in the werewolf community for their cruel relentlessness. They would stop at nothing. And then they had a child. What could be more perfect than to pass on the family business, as they liked to call it, to someone they could train from birth? By the time Leroy could walk, they had him out on hunts with them, teaching him the ways of how his world worked. That was until a hunt went wrong. The werewolves were bitter, and one day they went for the wrong group - a ruthless group who had lost many and were waiting for their chance at revenge. They hadn’t planned to hurt the child, of course. They were going Ramón. To turn a werewolf hunter would be the best punishment of all. They hadn’t expected the child to be there at all, strapped to Ramón’s back, but by the time they realised, it was too late. The scratch aimed for his back mid fight hadn’t caught him at all, yet had torn through Leroy’s skin, irrevocably changing his life forever.

⟢ Chapter 2

{abuse tw} That moment Leroy’s left was set in stone, although he didn’t know it. No longer would he take over the reputation his parents had built. No longer would his name cause fear through a whole species. No. Because the moment it happened, the first moon after that night, he was no longer their child. The most surprising part of it all, he would later realise, was that they didn’t leave him for dead. He remembers the beatings, unforgiving. That, along with the pain of his first change, were some of his earliest memories. Not that he could know, but it was a mothers instinct that saved his life. She managed to convince Ramón he wasn’t worth it. Let him be someone else’s problem and they could give all their attention to a true heir. That’s what found him, barely of an age to start school, left bloody and broken on the side of the road heading from Obsidian City, out to Carynthia.

⟢ Chapter 3

Leroy would say that was the day his life truly started. He was found, sitting with a small bag of his favourite things, by an older woman. This woman would be the woman he would soon begin calling mum. Without any thought she took him in, the scars on his back a clear indicator of who he was - they’d all heard the stories after all. Soon he had a family. Audrey and Larry Packett were an older couple, who had always dreamed of being able to give a child a good life. They doted on him, spoiled him with all they had, and raised him to be the man he is today. A man who isn’t ashamed of who he is or what he is. Everything he does is an act of thanks to his parents, to support the ones who saved him and loved him unconditionally.  Ever changing and chaotic, Leroy has a rotating roster of odd jobs and hobbies. In the mines, as a bouncer at Howl at the Moon of a night, selling joints on the side - he even takes curious visitors from the city on tours through the Carynthia Scenic Trail and to the diving cliffs, roping in the tips with his easy charm (not to mention flirting... the things he’ll do for a bit of extra cash.)
