So I had never watched Whisper of the Heart before I started this Ghibli project and omg it's so cute!!
Anyway here's Shizuku and Seiji on a library date, because they deserve nice things <3
(I would just like everyone to know that these bookshelves were an absolute pain to draw. Way to many straight, parallel lines)

What fans say:
Metropolis:
Beautifully animated with surprisingly smooth integration of both 2D cel animation and 3D CG environmental aspects, Metropolis is so clearly a labor of love — not only to the source material that it takes its plot from (the 1949 manga of the same name), but to Tezuka’s work in general — it features characters featured in plenty of his other work and there are plenty of references for fans to catch, but it’s also plenty enjoyable with no knowledge of anything he’s ever written. The jazzy soundtrack is immaculate, the character animation especially is top notch, the backgrounds are beautifully illustrated, and its writing and themes of transhumanism run deep especially for a movie with such a short runtime.
Whisper of the Heart:
Whisper of the Heart is my favourite Ghibli movie, partly due to the adorable romance, but mostly because of it's excellent portrayal of how it feels to be a writer, especially early in the journey/as a teen. Also it just has such comfy vibes.

“I wanted to see you as soon as I got home, so I stood outside your window hoping you’d look outside and see me. Suddenly you were standing there. I couldn’t believe my eyes. We must be meant for each other, Shizuku.”
— Whisper of The Heart (1995) dir. Yoshifumi Kondō (x)
