Japan’s cherry blossoms usually get all the attention for their short-lived beauty. But equally ephemeral are Japan’s Nemophila, or Baby Blue Eyes. And once a year, around late April to Early May, an astounding sea of 4.5 million of these little flowers cover the land for a little over a week at Hitachi Seaside Park located on the coast of Ibaraki Prefecture.

"Satoru-kun, what's wrong? Are you okay?"
You sprinted from the kitchen to the living room, where Satoru lay surrounded by a mountain of paperwork. A pen gliding and a spillage of water on the floor witness how much chaos there is now. He gently gripped his soft silver hair as if it were the source of his main problem.
You find your dear boyfriend surrounded by a veil of frustration, feeling himself drowned in a fragile state. Hair stroked in frustration, grunting in discontent. Guess he had a busy day; having a double workload at once is no fun.
If only he could split his body into two, maybe he could resolve his main problem.
"I fell," he murmured while collecting the scattered papers. His voice was a bit hoarse.
"Maybe you should take a break? I could negotiate with Gakuganji—"
"NO, you can't do that. You know what that old man is like. He's the worst."
You sighed in frustration, hinting that you couldn't convince him. "But, Satoru-kun. I fear for your well-being. If I am correct, I haven't seen you sleeping these days."
You glided and handed him a glass of milk, hoping to soothe him down, encourage him, and make him comfortable enough with your presence. A humble smile curls on your lips as you touch his shoulder, sending a million loves to his heart.
He still feels the warmth between his shoulders, the love you share with him, and your kindness towards his heart.
You could tell by the glimpse of his eyes. There was nothing but a sparkle in them. The sparkle you've always seen whenever he gazes at you or when he is in love with you.
"I don't want milk."
"Why? Milk used to be your favorite. Is there something else you want?"
His gaze fixed on the glass, scanning in disinterest. Some people might think he was disgusted by that milk, but he just has a bad mood. Those dark circles are still there, even if you are trying to get rid of them with a kiss. But his timeless beauty never fades. His classic beauty still lingers on him.
He is gazing toward you, locking his azure eyes in silence.
"It's helping you to have a good night's sleep, Satoru-kun," you offered with a gentle smile. Trying to convince him one more time.
"But it's only temporary! Now, tell me, Satoru-kun, how I can help you. I know you need me."
He chuckles, pinching your cheeks and shaking his head as if amused by your words. "I'm sorry, sweetheart, my love, sweet baby. But... you're so cute when you worry about me!"
He pats the couch, and a smile curls on his lips. "Come here. Sleep with me on this couch. Perhaps we could have a cozy cuddle before we sleep; how do you say?"
You smiled warmly, settling onto the couch, your giggling floating in the air, gliding nearer to him. His arm wrapped around your waist, drawing you snugly against his chest like a kitty cat, where you could hear his cute heartbeat.
Satoru's touch reveals a warm sensation, a comforting charm entwined with the sweetness of his breath, blending with longing and desire as he leans in closer to you.
He placed a kiss on your head, down to your cheek, rendering your skin with his lips. All of these treatments made you giggle in amusement. He leans in closer, kisses your lips multiple times, biting your lips gently with his, and smiles.
Yet, the aroma he carries wraps around your presence, comforting you to stay with him longer. Your affection for him is beyond the bonds of memory, making you love him even more... than you could remember.
Despite his stressful days, he is trying so hard to dress properly, using the same cologne. A masculine fragrance always lingers in the air—an aroma that becomes your own favorite. You've never asked him about its brand. You left it a mystery.
Your love for him transcends the limits of human understanding.
"Your smell is so good," he teased, kissing your nose, and he continued. "Please stay with me until I get a good night's sleep."

𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞: baby blue eyes 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: miyoshi kazunari/reader 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: sfw 𝐰𝐜: 835 words 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨: tala
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: reader and kazunari go on a date to a public park 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫: this work is a part of the flower shop event, a series of unconnected flower shop AU one-shots
Tumblr media
The travel blog said that Hitachi Seaside Park was a spacious public park famous  for its large flower fields. Apparently, it was must visit date spot for couples, a great area to take aesthetic photos for social media, and a boiling pot of inspiration for artists. There was even an amusement park nearby!
With all those buzz words floating around and the overwhelmingly positive reactions online, it was no wonder Kazunari wanted to go there with you next.
It was like they ticked off everything he was looking for— good photos for the blam, including cute couple pictures with you, some nice reference photos for some nature sketches, and last but definitely not the least, some time together with you.
University and theatre made it more difficult to find the time to have dates in farther places, a bit of a bummer for someone like Kazu who enjoyed travelling, so while this was no 3 days 2 nights vacation stay, it was still special to the both of you.
When the two of you finally arrived at your destination, you found yourself speechless at the sight. The paragraphs you read describing the field couldn’t fully capture the beauty of how the sheer number of flowers created an almost never-ending sea of blue that flowed seamlessly into the blue Springtime sky.
You crouched on the ground, levelling yourself with the steel barriers to take a closer look. If you stretched out your hand to the ground and felt the baby blue petals, could you feel the sky on your fingertips?
… when they called this event “Nemophila Harmony”, they seemed to really mean the harmony part, the blue blooms giving you a dilemma of whether to enjoy the moment for a few more moments, or to take a picture so it would last longer.
Speaking of, it seemed even Kazunari was taken aback. You would have expected him to go off about how “Instablammable” and “totes aesthetic” everything was, and then snap a bunch of pictures on his phone. Instead, he hadn’t uttered a word to you in the past… two, three minutes?
What face could Kazu be making right now?
Curious about his reaction, you tilted your head towards his direction while still squatting down.
‘Oh, so he did have his phone out,’ you immediately thought, noting the slight movement of his thumb that indicated he just took a picture, but upon further inspection it became clear to you that the angle was all wrong for the flowers to be the main focus.
If it was summer rather than spring, you would’ve been able to blame the brand new flush you adorned on the sun, only heating up further as you watched him not-so-subtly take another photo.
“Kazu!” you pouted, knowing that while you couldn’t chide him for something he’d done a multitude of times in the past, you could at least whine about the specifics. “At least warn me so I can look good in the shot!”
“Nyahahaha!”
He threw his head back, erupting into peals of laughter. There was probably something about being scolded by someone crouched on the ground like a petulant child stuck in a tantrum.
“Ehh~ but is it really a candid shot if I warn you~?” the blond pointed out, both his arms now rested by his sides so he could look at you properly.
“Besides, you looked totes adorbs as usual, babe~♪ no cap!” as he spoke, the grin on his face began widening further, “Especially when you finally faced the cam and turned all red! How are you such a cutie uwu~”
You finally stood up from your position, arms crossed as you asked Kazu if he still had any more pictures to take in this spot. Everything aside, there was still heaps left of the park to go through— both the rest of the nemophila as well as the other gardens.
Kazunari hummed, looking deep in thought before replying, “we have to take a pic  together by the flowers, obvs!”
Well that much was a gi—
“The flowers, plus my hair, plus your face… we’re the primary colours!”
His astute observation finally did it for you, your shoulders shaking at the thought of how that thought even came to fruition. Well, who were you to deny your boyfriend?
“Three, two, one… yoropiko☆”
“Yoropiko!” you cheered after, and as the timer went off you watched the look of satisfaction grow on Kazunari’s face as he began writing a caption for the post.
“Blue circle emoji… yellow circle emoji… red circle emoji…”
“You’re exaggerating the red! I’m not even blushing anymore!” You insisted, looking scandalised at a set of shape emojis of all things. Still, you weren’t going to back down! “And your hair isn’t even yellow-yellow!”
“Aye, ayt, I’ll keep it a hush hush joke between us~” he raised his free hand up in surrender, before lowering it again and linking it with yours, “so let’s continue the rest of our date, shall we~?”
Tumblr media
“ thank you for your hard work today at the flower shop! here, feel free to take home this baby blue eyes flower with you~ ”
