katara invents top surgery using medical bloodbending and improvisation
if theres one thing about zuko its that hes ride or die for the water tribe siblings. zero questions asked. sokka wants to break into a high security prison? zuko wants to come with. katara whips blood bending out of seemingly fucking nowhere and overpowers a southern raider by taking over their body? he thinks it was pretty wicked. either of them could approach him one day and ask him if he could help hide a body and hed happily provide the shovels
he realizes what blood bending entails. taking over the autonomy of another person forcefully, only to be used as an ace in the hole secret weapon. it brings katara shame and guilt to even know how to do it. zuko grew up thinking that his fire is to be used only for means of destruction. his was fueled by fury and shame. he thinks he might be able to help, if only just a bit.
in zukos fair opinion, katara comes from a family of geniuses. he thinks sokka is just about the smartest thing since sliced bread. perhaps with some gentle prompting, perhaps if katara just sat and thought about the possibilities, surely she'd be able to come up with something else of value that blood bending could bring to the table.
i have something- well, two somethings- i need removed, he says. some liquor and a big block of ice to knock me out should do the trick, he says. toph can be a heart monitor if that makes you feel better shed probably find this cool anyway, he says. i trust your abilities but if something goes wrong my affairs are in order just dont tell uncle until after ive reached rigor mortis, he says.
