WELCOME TO THE SECOND EDITION OF MICHI WEEK. ♪♫

THE EVENT

This event has been organised as a dedication to Michi. Michi is the shipname for the pairing of Taichi Yagami and Mimi Tachikawa from the Digimon franchise. It’s a fun way to shine more light on this underrated but wonderful ship. It will take place from September 26 to October 02, so mark your calendars.

Everyone is free to chose any kind of art form: edits, gifs, fanfiction, fanart, fanvideos, cosplay, etc. Creativity is always encouraged!

You can add other ships and characters, such as their digimon partners. Just be sure the focus remains on Taichi and Mimi.

This does NOT mean you can bash any other ship or character. This event is meant to celebrate Michi, but not at the expense of others. Spread love, not hate.

You can submit more than one entry per prompt if you want to.

Early submissions won’t be accepted. So please wait until the new prompt has been posted on the taichixmimi blog.

Late submissions, on the other hand, are welcome.

dedicated to @ex-machiina​ who encouraged me to continue this project when i was about to give up

we were always great at chemistry unfortunately, history was never our strong suit. When Mimi leaves for America the first time, Taichi is sad, but he’s not devastated. It’s not until she’s been gone a few months that he realizes how dull his life has suddenly gotten. How much less frequently the gang see each other without her around organizing birthday parties and picnics and group outings and being the bright, sparkly gravitational pull in the center of them all. How quiet everything is all the time. So he starts to email her, and she emails back and they go back and forth which eventually turns into long, sprawling phone calls about everything and nothing.  She visits Odaiba with her family for the holidays the year he’s fourteen. She drags him around Christmas shopping and to look at fairy lights and makes him bake sugar cookies with her and two weeks goes far too fast. The day before she’s about to go back to New York, the words are on the tip of his tongue: Don’t go. I like you. I like-like, you. He doesn’t say them. She goes home. A year later, Taichi visits New York. It’s for a soccer trip but he can spare a few extra days with her (and her family), and Mimi is thrilled to pieces to show him around the magical city that is New York. They hold hands one night as they amble through Central Park and she is struck with the urge to kiss him but she doesn’t dare. He’s on a flight back tomorrow. And it’s not worth ruining their friendship, which is one of the best things in her life. If he went back to Japan and stopped calling, she would shrivel up and die so this will have to be enough. She promises herself she will not cry when she says goodbye to him at the airport and almost succeeds. It hits her on the car ride back home, as his plane soars above them toward the oceans that separate them, and the tears starts to fall. She’s never been more grateful for the wonders of waterproof mascara. Two years later, it’s Taichi’s senior year, and Mimi is back in Japan, seemingly for good. She is attempting long-distance with Michael, which finally dissolves around the New Year, just in time for Taichi to start dating someone himself. By spring, both are finally single at the same time but Taichi has been accepted to a university six hours away. This knowledge clouds their every interaction.  It is hard to keep getting so close when there is a timer ticking over their heads. And it is too hard to keep saying goodbye. They both long to tell each other how they feel, but what’s the point, anyway? At least this way, they can still be friends. Mimi throws his going away party, but she doesn’t see him off at the airport this time. She can’t. There’s not a waterproof mascara strong enough. Throughout the next year him and Mimi almost never talk on the phone, but they still email and text and he misses her. He misses his friends. He misses his family. He’s not happy here. The dull ache of missing turns to infection, and he applies to transfer back home. Maybe he’ll leave again one day but for now, it’s not the right path. He expects to feel like a failure, but all he feels is relief. For the first time in ages, he calls Mimi and tells her the news, that he’s coming back home. Mimi, after long beat, tells him that she’s so happy for him. And then tells him, with a note of regret in her voice, that she’s just put down a deposit to attend New York University in the fall.

The words are on the tip of his tongue. Don’t go. I like you. I love you. He doesn’t say them.  She goes.

prompt: repeat [day 3 of 7] note: i was just going to do this graphic, but then thought i’d jot down a few sentences to go with it which turned into this angsty little bastard ficlet..?!? just letting my brain do what it wants. sry not sorry. (ok, a little sorry, because i do want them to be happy but also... angst) i did not do day 2 because i fail, but maybe inspo will strike later! (though if you squint, there is hints of ‘note’....)

Michi Week 2022 - Day 7: Coda

Days: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] Title: Parents² Characters: Mimi Tachikawa, Taichi Yagami, Takato Yagami (OC), Koushiro Izumi and Hikari Yagami. Summary: Mimi has some news for Taichi while they plan Takato's second birthday party. When Taichi arrived home from work that night, he found his nearly two-year old son riding the tricycle he had gotten from Hikari on his first birthday. He couldn’t help but wonder why Takato was alone in the living room, since Mimi always kept an eye on him after he started crawling and then walking. “Hey, son.” Taichi picked him up and turned him around. Takato’s shirt didn’t go unnoticed by the ambassador, who raised his eyebrows with confusion. “Big brother? What’s that… Mimi?” “What’s wrong, honey?” Her voice echoed on the house and she couldn’t help but smile before he even walked into their bedroom. “Why is our son wearing a T-shirt that says ‘big brother’?” “Isn’t it obvious?” She said without making eye contact with him, her smile turning into a grin. “He’s going to be a big brother.” “What? How’s that even…” “Didn’t you find the tiny sweater by the door?” “No.” He placed Takato on their bed and went back to look for the clothing. He found it at the right side of it. Taichi bent down to pick it up and a note fell from it. He grabbed it and then returned to his previous position, unfolding it. Congratulations! You’re going to be a square dad. “So it’s for real?” He turned to Mimi again, not quite sure how he was feeling at the moment. “I wouldn’t lie or joke about something so special like this.” Mimi finally looked at him. “It’s for real.” “I’m so…” Taichi sat on the bed and Takato immediately jumped on his arms, completely interrupting him. “Papa, play.” “Do you want to play?” “His caretaker said he didn’t sleep at all this afternoon. I’m surprised he’s still full of energy.” “Let’s go, papa.” The child got off the bed and grabbed Taichi’s hand. “I’ll be right there, son. Papa is talking to Mama right now.” “That’s okay.” Mimi smiled at him. “We’ll talk about it when he goes to bed soon.” “Are you sure?” “I am.” She nodded. “He misses his papa.” “Alright then.” He leaned over his wife and kissed her briefly. “I really want to talk about it.” “We will later on.” She cupped his cheeks and gave him another brief kiss. “We also have to plan his second birthday party.” “Okay.” “Come on, papa!” “I’m going, Takato.” Taichi held his hand tight and they headed to the living room. “Honey?” Mimi called him from the bedroom. “Don’t play with him for over an hour, okay? He still needs to shower and eat.” “Got it. For Michi Karaoke Week @taichixmimi - Day 1: Score

Lesson learned: Never go to an arcade with both Mimi and Taichi at the same time, unless you want to see two extreme competitive sore losers get into a scoring battle.

So apparently I felt like completely going outside my comfort zone for this Michi week (and end it with something more comfortable) but ah, I just want to apologize for my upcoming half ass edits, crappy fanarts and 5th grade fanfics in advance.

can we talk abt hina finding out abt takemitchy and emma at the karaoke like ??she just slapped him & forgave him?? 😭also draken didn't react AT ALL when emma said she was abt to woo michi (and we are sure he heard, he was next to them and even asked how they knew each other soo)

Yeah Hina's response has always seemed a little small there. I'm assuming it's mainly because she seems like quite a forgiving person in general. Though I think it also had something to do with future Takemichi being there and him being a lot more mature/ genuine. Like if it was past Takemichi there I think it would've taken longer for her to forgive him.

As for Draken, he does pull a face but has no other reaction (also we can't be sure if he even did that since it was early on and Takemichi was still scared of him). I'm pretty sure the reason for this is because he didn't see Takemichi as seriously being interested in Emma/ Hina was already slapping him.

For me, this is an interesting one; when I first got into the series, the main fansub group was only just starting the third season, so the first 2 seasons were easily found, and newer episodes from shortly before I started watching and beyond were as well, but season 3 was an unknown area.

The raw episode uploads were mostly for the newest ones, and nobody was subtitling anything before certain parts of season 4 in anticipation of the main group translating it, so Hareru Michi feels slightly less familiar than most of the other songs to me, like some one you talk to often enough, but haven't gotten to know really well yet

jackson is more attached to his mother than his father, his mom somewhat babied him growing up while his dad was very strict. both had different ideas of what jackson shouldve turned out like but while his father was more on the side of forcing him into the box his mother was more 'be how you want. but ill be very disappointed if its not how i want you to be'. both however were very insistent that he makes sure he falls into line and fits in with the other guys around town, with dad saying itd be an embarrassment if he didnt while his mom said it would be dangerous if he didnt

michy had very good parents, they cared a lot about her and did their best to raise her well, but they were the kind of couple that really shouldve gotten divorced and stayed together thinking itd be better for her. they had a very performatively lovey-dovey relationship when they knew she was around and often didnt get along when she wasnt. she knew about this of course and has a very skewed perspective on love because of it

cora has a younger (half) brother named jr and the two were raised by a single father. both ended up having a huge love for videogames thanks to him, and jr still lives with him in a different city. he helps jr go visit her in town every couple of months

kara as ive mentioned before has two younger siblings (theyre twins) and theyre somewhat headed down the same path she is unfortunately. theyre around 7-8 and do not remember her in the slightest as her parents never talk about her to them. they only really know she exists from the few times oakey has been able to talk to them about her. their heads are the first major trophies they won, karas head used to be hers but she later changed it to the karaoke machine she has currently. her parents spoiled her rotten when she was growing up, but once she hit her teenage years they sort of just. lost interest

how is michi's and lee relationship taking into account that they did get to be together in tsau?

Very supportive and (unintentionally) goofy

I.e. on their first official date, they both bought each other bouquets and chocolates

Lee is helping Michi with her workout routine. Michi makes his protein goodies.

Lee loves that Michi knows jujitsu and has encouraged her to get into once again. He definitely wants to see her at her best.

Madara was so proud of his daughter having a boyfriend on her husband (like her old man would expect anything less 😌).

Like, who’s got you smiling like that?? was dumbfounded when it turned out to be this hyper active bodyguard. But it’s Neji’s bodyguard, so she gets points for being messy 💀

Hashirama LOVES Lee! even more so when he’s drunk sorry Neji, you’re still fun just not as fun .

If she can’t find get ahold of Lee on his days off, it’s safe to assume he’s been picked up by her dad and they’re sparing with Gai at his dojo.

Mito is happy for her daughter and Thinks Lee is a sweetheart, but she’s managed to find a guy that’s even more active than both her dads. Good luck dear 😅

Lee took Michi to meet Gai sensei and Michi thinks their bond is adorable. Gai thinks Michi is a great person and actually knows her big brother Obito and dads! And that he remembers her being the crying toddler that clung to Obito with the Bob 💀

Michi took Lee to meet Chiha and she was confused. THIS is Lee? Oh girl but she’d warm up to him over Karaoke

Lee will eat anything Michi makes him, no matter how badly she messed up on it. It makes her happy and encourages her to keep trying

Michi will get to ride on the back of motorcycle for the first time because of Lee

She likes holding onto him and resting her chin on his shoulder when they go for rides

They’re always texting each other

Lee thinks it’s cute how she’ll call just to hear his voice and will leave her voice notes so she can listen to them any time

Michi tries not to stress him out with her concern for his safety but she does ask that he checks in with her so she knows he’s okay when traveling for business and remind Neji to check in with Tenten

Lots of double dates with Neji and Tenten

Often ending with both couples cuddled up on the couch watching a movie, sometimes with their respective partners, sometimes Michi and Tenten wrapped up in a blanket together, sometimes with Lee snoozing on Neji’s shoulder, and always with Neji being the last one awake

Lee wouldn’t move in right away, but when he doesn’t eventually he’d have his own room the two could run off to

Michi likes to kiss the sun tattoo on his neck as it gets a cute reaction each time

She also likes playing footsie with him because of his reactions. Something about his pleading look for her to behave in front of others turns her on

Makes her want to lead him to the nearest room with a locking door to show him her newest lingerie set she bought with him in mind

You should listen to Michi no Chimoshii from Anne Happy, it's prolly something you'd sing at karaoke

I’ll take a look!!! And I’ve never done karaoke…maybe I could convince Fedya to come with me…….

prompt: rhythm [day 6 of 7]  aka the Michi COYOTE UGLY au. aka the AU no one asked for but i’m doing anyway.

For his friend Daisuke’s birthday, law student Yagami Taichi is dragged out to one of Tokyo’s most notorious bars: Coyote Ugly. The floors are sticky and the décor is gaudy, grungy western but the women behind the bar are beautiful. One of them in particular: the one with a pink rhinestone rimmed cowboy hat, leather pants and shining brown eyes. He watches as some fast-fiddling country song comes on and she, along with the other women, hop on top of the bar and start to line-dance at a breakneck speed, all the more impressive for their high heels. He is spellbound as Pink Cowboy Hat rolls her hips, her body fluid and in perfect rhythm with the music. He can’t tear his eyes away for a second.

Later, when he surreptitiously slinks his way to the front of the line, he first asks her name (Mimi) and then asks her out as she pours him a Johnnie Walker. He knows he is just one of many men who will attempt but hey, he has to try. She laughs prettily, winks a practiced wink, tells him she can’t date customers. He slides his yen back into his wallet – what if he doesn’t pay? Can she date thieves?

She laughs more, he pays, and accepts that it’s not going to happen. But he continues to show up once a week or so. He loves to watch her dance, relishes the occasional opportunity to chat with her at the bar, and particularly loves the nights when she takes the microphone and sings for the bar. She has a beautiful voice, rich like honey. It’s the only time he experiences the usually raucous crowd slowing down.

One night, to his utter surprise, when she serves him his drink she also slides over a slip of paper with her phone number. They go out on one date, then two, three, four and he gets to know everything about her. Her refreshingly positive attitude on the world. Her aspirations to become a singer. How her parents didn’t support her – so she was out here on her own, trying to make it in the big city. How she is grateful for her job at Coyote Ugly – and she doesn’t feel demeaned, she feels empowered. She is proud of her sexuality. It’s not forever, but she likes it. Especially because it pays triple what she’d make anywhere else.

They continue dating and life seems so much sweeter. She bakes Taichi cookies when he’s studying for law exams and he helps her record singing demos. They are both supporting each others dreams. But - they are not without their fights. They are on opposite schedules for free time and seeing each other can be a challenge. Taichi gets jealous of hundreds of men ogling his girlfriend on a nightly basis. They almost break up over this, but she assures him that she loves him, only him. But he has to trust her. Does he trust her?

He trusts her.

(And, one night, she even teaches him the line dance to ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia’. Though, he does not look nearly as good in leather pants).

Michi Week 2022 - Day 6: Rhythm

Days: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] Title: First Night Out Characters: Mimi Tachikawa, Taichi Yagami, Takato Yagami (OC). Summary: Mimi and Taichi are going out on a date for the first time since Takato was born. Mimi threw herself on the couch and tilted her head back, closing her eyes and sighing deeply. She hasn't slept properly in days and was feeling exhausted. "He's asleep." She said when Taichi walked in. "Finally." "I wouldn't rejoice on it that much. It's going to be another night up." "Damn it." "Exactly." "I'm just glad it's Saturday and we can sleep the whole day tomorrow. It's been terrible to work lately. I can't tell how many times my work colleagues walked into my office while I was taking a nap." "You talking a nap?" Mimi raised her eyebrow at him, but couldn't hide her smile. "You sleep so heavily I seriously doubt you were only taking a nap." "Koushiro threw a glass of water on me because I wouldn't wake up at all." Taichi said in a low tone, but it was still loud enough for his wife to hear and laugh about it. "It's not funny." "Yes it is." Her laugh got a little louder. "You shouldn't speak so loud, it might…" He dropped his head with frustration and sighed. "...wake our son up." "Ugh." Mimi sighed as well and then motioned to stand up. "I'm going to…" "I got this." Taichi cut her off and looked towards the hall. "Are you sure?" "Yeah, I'm sure. It can be a father-son bonding moment. Besides, you already take care of him the whole day." "That's true. Okay, you can take care of him." "Thank you. I'll call you if I need something or it's time to feed him." "Alright."

Taichi walked into his son's bedroom and turned on the lights. Takato giggled and waved his tiny hands in the air towards the decoration in the ceiling. "Hello, my little boy." He smiled when he got near the crib. "Did mama wake you up?" The baby looked at him confused and then smile, stretching his arms towards his father. Taichi quickly picked him up. "You need to sleep, son. Are you having trouble doing it? Or maybe you just need to have your diapers changed." "You might want to give him a bath if you do that." Mimi's voice echoed faintly. "Mama pays attention to everything, doesn't she?" He joked and watched Takato's hand curl around his index finger. Then he started wondering how it was possible to love such a tiny person so much. He's loved his son ever since Mimi told him she was expecting and he still remembered that day like it was yesterday, but nine months had gone by since that. Keep reading it on FFN or AO3

During the production of the original 1992 Sailor Moon anime the voice actresses for the five Inner Senshi (Kotono Mitsuishi, Aya Hisakawa, Michie Tomizawa, Emi Shinohara, and Rica Fukami) formed a group called Peach Hips which performed several songs from the anime.*

Astonishingly, the group never performed Moonlight Densetsu, the defining theme for the original anime/the Sailor Moon franchise as a whole.

That is...with the exception of a bonus feature attached to Vol. 9 of the Sailor Moon Laser Discs. The performance can be viewed here:

As you can tell the sound quality is unfortunately not great. However, a higher quality version of the performance also exists in another video which presents the full bonus feature:

I have used my amateur sound editing skills to extract the performance as an mp3 so that you can all enjoy the song as performed by the original voice actresses.
