It was unexpected for me that Claudia, Jonas, Noah and Elisabeth ended up being the post-apocalypse group, but the four of them fit so well together.
They don't really had screentime together, but I can't stop thinking about the apocalypse family and how much they can relate to each other.
Each one of them lost their naivety when they discovered time travel and learned a little more about the reality of their world, but they lost their innocence when they experienced the reality of their dads death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Each member of the group carries the guilt for the death of their dads.
Noah literally killed his dad, influenced by sic mundus.
Claudia tried to prevent her dad's death and accidentally caused it.
Jonas was led to believe that he could prevent his dad's suicide when in fact he was the trigger.
Elisabeth was not to blame for her dad dying, but she probably felt guilty that he died trying to protect her.
They were completely broken, and the person who came to comfort them and give them hope was a member of the apocalypse family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Bartosz died, Noah told his younger self that he knew how it felt and that the pain of what he had done would pass. Noah knew that wasn't true. It would be a pain he would never forget. Since he was the one who had defined the irony of his dad's fate, it had only become more painful.
Claudia met Jonas for the first time after what happened with Egon, and she realized that she couldn't change things. Jonas appearead and let her know that they could change things. This happened after Jonas had spent a year traveling with an older version of Claudia.
Jonas met Claudia for the first time when he realized that he wasn't there to stop his dad and that his attempt to save him had failed again. At that moment, Claudia came and told Jonas that he could save them all. So Jonas goes to spend a year with Claudia learning about time travel.
After Peter dies, Elisabeth only knows of a place somewhere in the woods where Noah stays, and Noah only knows that he would protect her. In the cave, they find the passage, and Noah tells Elisabeth about paradise. Their connection gave them hope. Even when Noah felt hopeless himself, he only wanted to give Elisabeth hope.
They just tried to give them some comfort. In one of their darkest moments, they were there for each other and tried to never give up hope.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also everything that losing their moms represented for them.
Silja died when Noah was very young and apparently Bartosz became distant.
When Doris left, Egon started to drink. It was probably at that moment that his relationship with Claudia became colder.
Their relationships with their dads deteriorated when they lost their moms. A disagreement resulted in the death of their dads. Noah and Claudia eventually saw their dads again, but it was a younger version of their dads who didn't yet recognize that version of them as their kid.
I think it is similar with Elisabeth and Jonas.
The first thing Jonas did when he got home was look for his mom, and he couldn't find Hannah. He probably thought he couldn't save his mom just like he couldn't save his dad.
Peter and Elisabeth were still trying to find Franziska and Charlotte, and after months she just thought they were dead. When her father died, I don't think there was any hope of seeing her mother again.
For years, Jonas and Elisabeth probably assumed that their moms had died in the apocalypse. It was unexpected the way they were reunited with their moms, and the revelations that came from it.
This group is so interesting to me because they experienced many years of friendship and then all that was left was betrayal. Although I will never forget all those years of friendship that I never saw.

Content Warning!: mentions of suicide and death/murder
Ok autism ramble post! I NEED to talk about Dark on Netflix, I never hear anyone in irl talk about it and it deserves so much attention and praise and analysis and obsession. I will try my best not to give any spoilers, not sure I even could that’s how hard to explain it is.
It has time travel, it has the apocalypse, impending environmental disaster, family trauma, one of the greatest modern love stories imo, it has tragedy and joy and grief and anguish, it has hope, it has a watch/clock maker, father son relationships, accidental baby acquisition, a car crash, it has conspiracy theorists, a murder mystery, coming of age but with a twist, it has friends to lovers to what could have been to enemies, it has races against time, it has rebellion, it has adultery, vigilantes and a boy with the fate of the world on what feels like his shoulders alone all in no particular order or in a very specific one depending on how you look at it
Tumblr media
Essentially it starts out with this kid who follows his older brother and sister and friends into the woods, the stumble into this cave some events occur and then the little boy is nowhere to be found. The eerie thing is that the boys uncle disappeared and was never found similarly a certain important number of years ago. The main character is Jonas who’s in love with the boys older sister, Jonas’ father killed himself over the summer break. Soon weird shit starts happening in the town, more characters are focalised. Then suddenly we’re in the 80s the boy stumbles out of the cave and meets his teenage parents. From there things get increasingly insane, Jonas meets this dude from the future who basically who basically turns his entire worldview upside down.
Tumblr media
It is written masterfully and acted with pure talent and skill, I cried I laughed I gasped I sat in silent awe and confusion. Every time you think you’ve figured something out everything is flipped upside down again in the best way. It’s by far the best show I’ve watched it’s a work of art, you could probably watch it 10 times and still have a garbled understanding of it and it’s beautiful. It’s not an easy watch you have to think and really pay attention but if you’re up to the challenge it’s so so worth it! So pls I beg of you if any of this even slightly piqued your interest watch DARK!

Do you miss him? I think I miss a notion of him. - Jonas and Hannah (1x02)
In all the worlds, Peter finds his way to Benni because he was always meant to be with her. I think something like that also applies to Hannah, but even more chaotic. Her love interests were a Nielsen and/or a policeman, so it might seem like Hannah was somehow looking for Ulrich. Since i watched the last episode, I don't think so.
All the similarities and differences in Hannah's romances are interesting to me. I think the ending was really fitting for her character, and now I have a different interpretation of her relationships.
Don't you think it'd be good if you got out? Won't you at least try? For me. - Hannah to Michael (2x06)
Michael Kahnwald: He was a really kind person. Hannah thought he was cool when they met. He was really nice to Hannah, and she was nice to him when others weren't. Even in his worst moments, Hannah was there for Michael. She didn't know who he really was, but she knew how he was before. Hannah just wanted to see her husband get better. Hannah loved Michael.
He loved Hannah.
She started a family with him in Adam's World.
Michael keeps secrets from her.
He is the father of her child (Jonas) and he loved their child so much. Michael would even give his life for Jonas.
They are not just romantic partners. He is also her descendant (great-great-great-grandson).
Mikkel is a Nielsen.
I tried to remember if you ever said "I love you" to me. - Hannah to Ulrich (2x07)
Ulrich Nielsen: He wasn't very nice most of the time, but he really tried his best. Ulrich and Hannah were friends since they were young. Hannah was obsessed with him. Ulrich had an affair with Hannah that didn't end well for them. Their relationship seems like it was never meant to be in any world. Ulrich always loved Katharina.
He didn't love Hannah.
She tried to start a family with him in Eva's World.
Ulrich keeps her as a secret and keeps secrets from her.
He loves his kids (Magnus, Martha and Mikkel).
Ulrich is a policeman.
They are not just romantic partners. He is also her descendant (great-great-grandson).
Ulrich is a Nielsen.
I love you. - Egon to Hannah (3x04)
Egon Tiedemann: He was a good man, and he was really nice to Hannah when they met. They had an affair. He told her he loved her, but Egon was holding on to a broken marriage. More than Doris leaving him, I think Egon was more affected by ruining the opportunity to be with someone who really wanted to be with him. But things probably worked out better for Hannah and Egon in Eva's World, Egon being a traveler was probably more able to think outside of the box.
He loved Hannah
She started a whole cursed family tree with him in Adam's and Eva's Worlds.
Egon keeps her as a secret.
He is the father of her child (Silja) and he loves his child (Claudia). He didn't know Silja in Adam's World, but I think he did in Eva's World.
Egon is a policeman.
They are just romantic partners.
Egon is not a Nielsen, but Egon and Hannah are technically the origin of the Nielsen family. Actually, she used the name Katharina Nielsen when they met in Adam's world and she is Hannah Nielsen in Eva's world, so Hannah is the Nielsen.
Egon's existence is not tied to the knot.
As a traveler, Egon's mission was to create his past to preserve the family tree. In order for his younger self to fall in love with her and have a child with her, he had to save Hannah from the apocalypse. I find it interesting that Hannah & Egon is the one Hannah relationship that's always necessary in Adam and Eva's World. I think Egon is the closest to Hannah's husband in Origin World.
Actually, no one here understood why she married him. She's very pretty. She could've had any man she wanted. - Wöller to Clausen (2X04)
Hannah is with Wöller in the Origin World.
Torben Wöller is funny and kind. He is a good man who loves Hannah. They are just romantic partners. He also happens to be a policeman in all the versions we have seen of him at his job. His profession didn't change from Adam's World to Eva's World, so I think he's still a member of the Winden police in Origin World. Wöller is not a Nielsen, so his existence is not tied to the knot. The series ends with Hannah starting a family with Wöller.
I just think that maybe all along Hannah was just trying to have what she was always supposed to have.
And I wish I could say that Wöller is different from Hannah's other love interests when it comes to secrets, but I can't. Not really a secret to her, but we don't know something very important. WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS EYE???

Rewatching Dark — Part 3
What the fuck happened to Woller's eye??
Also Hanno/Noah has no business being this hot, neither does Franziska for that matter. Poor Magnus would too if not for horrible haircuts they gave him.
Sometimes I wonder how no one noticed Michael and Mikkel being near identical, how has this never come up ????

And just how fucking singularly responsible Jonas is for fucking up Mikkel's life. The first time he tries to save him, who stops him? Older Jonas. Whose appearance informs him that he needs to commit suicide? Jonas's. But he was manipulated! By whom? Oh right, Adam who is Jonas. And, of course, who brought him through the cave in the fucking first place? Jonas!

Ooooh, this makes me think of a post I saw recently where someone had painted the God particle in the same sort of impressionist/abstract style as Michael painted, black paint and all... and I developed this headcanon that while Jonas was stuck in the 1800's and haunted by this thing for the second (!) time in his life (no seriously he spent like 66 years of his life just trying to get this thing to work), he would start to paint pictures of it in a style reminiscent of his dad's to express all of that frustration, grief, fear...whatever he must've felt. Somehow they are preserved and/or recreated (abstract/impressionist work was just taking off by the end of the 19th century so maybe they were found inspirational or innovative I dunno) until Mikkel/Michael has a chance to see them and becomes intensely inspired by them bc he would feel and see his own turmoil, literally painted by his own son who was expressing his grief over his father's death. And so Michael would start to paint like them, which is what inspired Jonas to make them in the first place. It would check out character-wise as well, Jonas is canonically artistically inclined just like his dad :')
A bunch of these paintings look like they could be the God particle and I wonder if that was intentional.
