Bespoke Suits in New York: A Timeless Journey of Elegance
New York: a city synonymous with fashion, ambition, and timeless sophistication. Nestled among its bustling streets and iconic skyscrapers, there is a world of tailoring that continues to thrive on tradition and precision: the realm of bespoke suits. In this blog, we journey into the heart of New York's sartorial elegance and discover the art of bespoke tailoring.
1. The Bespoke Experience: What Is It?
"Bespoke" originates from the word "bespeak," meaning "to speak for something." In the world of fashion, bespoke refers to custom-made garments, tailored specifically to an individual's measurements and preferences. Unlike off-the-rack or made-to-measure, bespoke offers a fully personalized experience.
2. Why Bespoke in New York?
New York, with its rich history and diverse culture, has been a fashion epicenter for centuries. This city has seen tailoring traditions passed down through generations, evolving and adapting but always maintaining a commitment to quality. Here are a few reasons why getting a bespoke suits NYC is special:
• Tradition Meets Modernity: From the historic streets of the Garment District to the chic boutiques in SoHo, the city offers a harmonious blend of old-school tailoring traditions with contemporary fashion trends. • Diverse Craftsmanship: NY's melting pot nature ensures a wide array of tailoring styles – be it British, Italian, or American – each with its unique silhouette and characteristics. • Access to Premium Fabrics: NYC tailors have access to some of the finest materials in the world, ensuring longevity, comfort, and style in every stitch.
3. The Bespoke Process
A bespoke suit is not just a purchase; it's an experience:
• Consultation: It begins with understanding your needs. Whether it's for a special occasion or daily wear, the tailor will guide you through fabric selections, style choices, and design elements. • Measurement: Precision is key. The tailor will take numerous measurements to ensure the final product fits like a second skin. • Fittings: Typically, there are multiple fittings as the suit takes shape, allowing for any adjustments along the way. • Final Product: A suit, tailored to perfection, ready to make a statement.
4. Notable Bespoke Tailors in New York
• Martin Greenfield Clothiers: Renowned for crafting suits for US presidents and celebrities, this Brooklyn-based establishment exemplifies bespoke tailoring's pinnacle. • Len Logsdail: A stalwart in the NY bespoke scene, Len offers classic English tailoring with impeccable craftsmanship. • Michael Andrews Bespoke: This NoMad tailor combines traditional techniques with a modern touch, offering a unique sartorial experience.
5. Investment and Care
Bespoke suits are undoubtedly an investment, both in terms of time and money. However, they are designed to last, offering unparalleled fit, style, and comfort. With proper care, including regular dry cleaning, airing, and proper storage, a bespoke suit can remain a staple in one's wardrobe for years, if not decades.
Conclusion
A bespoke suit, especially from the heart of New York, is more than just a piece of clothing. It's a statement of personal style, an embodiment of tradition, and a testament to the craftsmanship. In the fast-paced world of fast fashion, taking a moment to appreciate the art of bespoke tailoring offers a timeless journey of elegance.

New Asian-based team LKY SUNZ announces bid to join Formula 1 grid in 2025 | 2025 F1 season
Another potential new entrant to the Formula 1 grid has announced its intention to join the series. LKY SUNZ says it has secured backing from US sports fund Legends Advocates Sports Group and other Asian investors. It plans to submit an entry ahead of the FIA’s deadline for new applications, which were invited earlier this year. The project was co-founded by Benjamin Durand, who was previously involved in another attempt to enter a team in Formula 1. His Panthera Team Asia project was announced in 2019. Its other co-founders are Andrew Pyrah, who has been named chief commercial officer, and Paul Fleming, its chairman. LKY SUNZ – which takes its name from a combination of ‘Lucky’, which it calls a “nod to the Asian heritage of the team”, and ‘SUNZ’ representing the sun – intends to operate from a location in Europe. However it intends to construct a “state-of-the-art net zero green energy-powered factory complex” in the south-east of Asia. The team “aims to be on the grid for the 2025/2026 season”. “We are excited to see our investors share our vision of fusing youth culture and racing to create a team that will disrupt F1,” said Durand. “The sport’s popularity has grown exponentially and every current stakeholder in the sport has been responsible for that, but our guiding principle is to bring something different into the sport to appeal to new audiences. “By being the only team operating outside the traditional F1 corridors and developing bespoke programmes to attract talent from underrepresented communities, we can bring a diversity of thought yet to be seen in F1. “We of course aim to be competitive on the track but we also commit to entertaining fans off the track. To support our plans, we have already onboarded an impressive team of motorsport executives, music and entertainment industry experts and creatives who will help bring this vision to life.” Other parties have already declared an interest in joining the F1 grid after the FIA said it would consider applications to compete from the 2025, 2026 or 2027 seasons. Michael Andretti was the first to throw his hat into the ring, with a project backed by General Motors brand Cadillac. Former F1 team principal Craig Pollock is seeking to enter a team called Formula Equal, which intends to accumulate a workforce with an equal gender split, and has funding from sources in the Middle East, believed to be in Saudi Arabia. Empowerment meets Classicism (Chanel)
Tumblr media
the history of a woman's suit, though its doesn't date back to women in suits to the 1600's as it was frowned upon, the first suit worn by a woman was in 1870. The actress Sarah Berndhart wore her "boy clothes". How to style a woman suit, specifically a Chanel suit. Firstly its classy and professional to for a woman to wear a suit. My advice would be to wear it for an important even such as a meeting, wedding, work, and i think personally anyone can wear a Chanel suit wherever. Along with fast fashion and not wanting to spend over $1000 dollars, J.ING clothing website has a dupe of a jacket and mini skirt set for just $78.85 similar to the Chanel suit.
Silk Organza (Dior)
Tumblr media
Silk and Dior, with the silk history, specifically silk organza, it originated from China which later then took a trading route to Europe. As for Dior history it was founded in Paris and silk came to Paris in the 11th century, taking on silk being a expensive material to the wealthy. Advice on how to wear a silk dress is to style with jewelry because the silk itself is a beautiful material itself. Where to wear a silk dress is to an event, wedding, party, prom. A less expensive dupe instead of a Dior silk dress ( dress above costs $661.27 CAD). the less expensive dupe would be a Runway goddess Chantelle satin midi dress for $78.63.
The color red (Balenciaga)
Look 42 on Balenciaga's fall 2022 collection shows a red dress. The symbolism to red has been historically associated with sacrifice, danger and courage. As for the big red dress Balenciaga showed it is a very courageous dress to wear anywhere. If i were to give advice on where to wear it and how to style it would be with gold jewelry and where for a premiere, or dinner party, and overall a really big event. In relation to finding a similar but less expensive Balenciaga dress which estimated at over $5000 dollars, Light in the box brand and website has a red dress for only $52.99.

Flowers if you were looking for formal mens wear refs that wasnt the same black suit ove and over again where would you look?
I’d find a retailer that does fancy suits and just poke around their website. I feel like using “bespoke” or “tailored” as keywords helps bc I think people who are making suits to order are going to be more willing to experiment. like this site indochino has a lot of boring suits but they also have a spring line with some colors and they let you sort by pattern and color
Tumblr media
I would also try looking for blazers and sport coats instead of suits. they usually come in more patterns, colors, and cuts than suit jackets. michael andrews here has some good stuff

MONTHLY MEDIA: June 2020
Still staying in as much as I can and reading/watching/playing lots of stuff. Stay safe out there, wear a mask, and maybe check out some of this stuff!
……….FILM……….
Tumblr media
Color Out of Space (2019) I didn’t know much about this outside of it being based on a story by Lovecraft and seeing the poster and I’m glad that was the case. It was trippy and tense and a little arty and silly in moments but all great.
……….TELEVISION……….
Tumblr media
Mad Men (Episode 3.04 to 4.06) First, this show continues to be fantastic. The season 3 ending would’ve been a great place to end but I’m really digging the change of scenery in season 4. It sets the characters up as underdogs again and that’s fun. Also I can’t believe Don Draper was ever seen as a role model; he’s clearly the worst. Sure he’s charming and comes up with some cool ideas, but I really appreciate that the series isn’t shying away from showing him as a garbage dude. He’s a garbage dude. Peggy driving a motorcycle, that’s what a true role model looks like.
Queer Eye (Episode 5.01 to 5.10) I’m not sure what’s happened but this season felt different for me. Maybe it’s Antoni’s....chaotic energy, or the way it seems to show the class and race divide in Philadelphia, but it’s not landing the same.
……….READING……….
Tumblr media
Dracula by Bram Stoker (Page 114/325) The classics often don’t quite click for me but this is really great. Maybe it’s that the horror genre taps into the core of humanity and so ages better than other speculative fiction? I dunno, but that bulletin about the ship’s crew slowly getting picked off by Dracula while it transports him to England is enough to carry its own horror movie.
The Pirates! In an Adventure With Scientists by Gideon Defoe (Complete) Wonderfully silly and an excellent pastiche of those classic young reader adventure novels. I admit I’m not sure if kids will get half of the jokes but it’s still fun and full of pirates and a little danger that I think they’d enjoy.
Tumblr media
lluminatus! Part 1: The Eye in the Pyramid by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson (Complete) I really wasn’t sure about this. The plot was, and continues to be fun, but it’s so thoroughly interrupted by monologue after monologue on the goals and methods of the illuminati. It’s all fun, but I’m hoping that parts 2 and 3 serve as acts 2 and 3 to the bigger story so that we can move past all the introductions and setup.
The Sheriff of Ynrameer by Michael Rubens  (Abandoned) I really wanted to like this, but I just couldn’t connect with the lead character (a Han Solo-type...and those sorts really work best as compliments to the true lead character). Dissecting humour is a fool’s errand so I’ll just say the jokes didn’t land for me and while I can’t describe why, I will contrast it to say that I lean towards the Terry Pratchett/Douglas Addams-end of the spectrum. So if you want a sci-fi comedy with a roguish scamp as the lead, check it out.
Tumblr media
Delicious in Dungeon Vol. 8 by Ryoku Kui (Complete) Every volume is consistently strong and it’s just baffling. The new characters are engaging (and having picky eater as a party member is such a logical and interesting pairing) and the world-building is excellent. Each volume really does a great job at blending character development with that world building while still delivering the core concept (making meals using monster parts) and I’m still amazed it all works. Plus it’s funny! Maybe not as funny or silly as earlier volumes, but I feel like it’s been a natural evolution. Ugh it’s just so good!
Hellboy In Hell Library Edition by Mike Mignola (Complete) Oof. What an ending. I’m really glad to have this as a nice capstone to the Hellboy mythos (even if he continues on in the future). It was nice having Mignola illustrate these last handful of adventures and storytelling and it’s absolutely some of his best. The pacing was maybe a little weird at the end, but who am I to push back against such a singular vision?
……….AUDIO……….
Tumblr media
Walkin' My Cat Named Dog by Norma Tanega (1966) A song really stood out in one of those “made for you” playlists by Spotify so I went to listen to the album and the first track is the theme song from the What We Do in the Shadows tv series so that’s pretty awesome. This whole album is great and as haunting/fun as you’d expect.
……….GAMING……….
Tumblr media
Neverland: A Fantasy Role-Playing Setting (Andrews McMeel Publishing) I’ve started posted more in-depth campaign diaries on Reddit (not for my players to read) and right now they’re doing a little regrouping in the Gnome Hamlet before setting off on one of their...3 quests right now. Gotta capture a star, gotta kill some spiders, gotta find the bespoke jacket of a mermaid. So much to do.
D&D Homebrew Adventure (Menace of Merlin) The group is stuck in a daisy chain of quests (kill the yetis so the ents will show the Party the way to the unicorns so they can get some of their hair so that the hermit can make a cure for the town’s stone curse). They’ve spent an entire session avoiding a young dragon but next time it won’t be so easy.
And that’s it! As always, let me know if you have anything to recommend and stay safe out there!

Introducing Europe’s Most Sustainable City Centre Hotel

The Wren Urban Nest Dublin 2 Hotel
18th November 2021 – The newly opened Wren Urban Nest, based in the heart of Dublin, is a 137-room, nine floor hotel designed and built using the most advanced carbon reduction technologies, making it one of Europe’s most sustainable hotels in a major city centre.
Eliminating the need for fossil fuels, the building uses 100% renewable energy and is the first hotel in Ireland to comply with the World Green Building Council’s definition of ‘Net Zero Operational Carbon’, without having to purchase carbon offsets.
With architectural, civil and structural and mechanical and electrical engineering design from interdisciplinary practice, BDP, the team has taken a number of steps to set the agenda and exceed ‘Net Zero Operational Carbon’ status and to create an overall ethical and sustainable guest experience. The unique design and commitment to sustainability place Wren at the forefront of international hotel innovation.
The design of the hotel focuses on compact luxury and energy efficiency, with small format bedrooms decorated and accessorised with the best contemporary Irish craft, a showcase for Irish design from brand to bed, confidently supported with smart, sustainable technologies.
Director of Moran Hospitality and Hotel Operator, Tracey Moran explains: “The unique architectural design of the hotel is a testament to our wonderful collaborators at BDP. We couldn’t be more excited to have Wren Urban Nest open. We are passionate about the environment and believe in taking little steps towards a better planet. Our guests can expect bags of personality and a bespoke Dublin city experience that does not compromise on luxury while still doing their bit.”
Architect director at BDP, Michael Mullen, adds: “The design of the Wren evolved by imagining how guests of the future would engage and contribute to Dublin. We believe that hotels of the future have a responsibility to the host city and have to act to minimise the environmental and social impacts of their guests.
“BDP’s interdisciplinary team of architects and engineers were uniquely placed to design and deliver this first of its kind hotel in Europe. With the spotlight of the world on sustainable practices, we are so proud to be able to present a building that burns no fossil fuels, has zero local pollution and even improves the air quality around it.”
An advanced feature of the bespoke design allows free energy sharing across the hotel. The glazing on this elevation is full height and width, straddling both floors and rooms. The hotel utilises the thermal gains obtained from the path of the sun and heat gained on the east elevation in the mornings is extracted and then used to warm rooms on the west elevation. This process is reversed in the afternoon. The faceted facade reflects light down the street and cantilevers over the boundary to maximise room sizes, whilst ensuring the footprint of each space helps achieve the highest sustainability standards.
Wren’s hot water, heating and cooling system design is based on a combination of highly efficient air source and water-to-water heat pumps. The ventilation system captures 81% of rejected heat using a thermal wheel, which also heats the incoming fresh air for free. With no fossil fuels being consumed, the hotel avoids the production of large amounts of local pollution within its urban environment.
View from Trinity Street Sketch ; View North Along Andrew’s Lane Sketch:
Patrick Kavanagh, Engineering Associate at BDP, said: “The architectural design meets the demands of a tight urban space whilst ensuring glazing and façade options reduce energy loss. The building services we installed only seek to provide the most sustainable methods of staying in, and managing a hotel. Everything related to the design and operation of Wren Urban Nest aims to reduce, reuse or recycle energy in the most efficient way. It really is a great example of what can be achieved in the hospitality industry and in major conurbations. We are sure it will be a great success.”
Even the hotel’s kitchen has no reliance on gas for cooking and waste food is minimised by offering surplus stock to the local community through the ‘too good to go app’, ensuring the zero carbon commitment is fully followed through.
The hotel’s water demand is approximately 60% lower than that of typical hotel accommodation buildings through implementation of water conservation measures and low-loss fitting specifications. Rainwater runoff is attenuated, reducing loads on the public mains and a green roof provides natural cooling and space for biodiversity.
Wren Urban Nest is an eco-friendly accommodation option for responsible travellers who wish to minimise their carbon footprint.

The name Wren stems from an old Irish story where the small wren hid under, but ultimately overtook the strong eagle to fly highest in the race and was crowned king of the birds – being the cleverest.
Wren Urban Nest makes the most of its tight urban site offering 137 compact and luxurious bedrooms in the heart of Dublin. The interdisciplinary project is designed to be the first hotel in the capital to meet Net Zero Operational Carbon standards without any offsetting. It has air source and water to water heat pumps that provide heating and cooling to all of the building. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are married: Here is everything you need to know
yahoo
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are married! On Saturday, the pair became the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after they exchanged vows at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Who was there?
The 600 guests arrived between 4:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. ET (9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. BST). Celebrity guests included George and Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, Oprah Winfrey, Idris Elba, Elton John, Victoria and David Beckham, and the cast of Suits.

Fergie showed up.
Despite rumors that she hadn’t scored an invitation, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, attended the nuptials. The former wife of the groom’s uncle Prince Andrew was not invited to Kate Middleton and Prince William’s 2011 wedding.

As were Fergie’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
They both made surprising style choices.

And two of Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriends, Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas, were invited as well.

But all eyes were on the royal family.
Prince Harry and his brother and best man, Prince William, were among the first members of the royal family to enter the chapel. They were followed by cousins, including Zara Tindall, and Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip (who walked without assistance after recently having undergone hip surgery).
yahoo
The Duchess of Cambridge rode to the ceremony with the wedding party.
With Prince George and Princess Charlotte serving as pageboy and bridesmaid, the Duchess of Cambridge went along for the ride to the ceremony. She is wearing what Kensington Palace called “a primrose yellow wool silk tailored coat” by Alexander McQueen with a hat designed by Philip Treacy and shoes by Jimmy Choo.

Meghan Markle walked into the chapel with the pageboys and bridesmaids.
Viewers got a first look at Markle’s gown when she exited the Rolls-Royce she traveled in from the Cliveden House hotel to the chapel with her mother, Doria Ragland.

The dress, designed by Givenchy’s first female artistic director, Clare Waight Keller, ‘epitomizes timeless minimal elegance.’
According to Kensington Palace, “the pure lines of the dress are achieved using six meticulously placed seams. The focus of the dress is the graphic open bateau neckline that gracefully frames the shoulders and emphasises the slender sculpted waist.”

The veil features embroidered flowers from all 53 countries of the British Commonwealth.
On the embroidered trim of the wedding veil, Markle also included wintersweet (Chimonanthus praecox), which can be found at Kensington Palace, and the California poppy (Eschscholzia californica), which is the state flower of California, to honor her birthplace.
Meghan Markle wore the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau Tiara.
The piece is on loan from Queen Elizabeth. Markle also accessorized with earrings and a bracelet from Cartier.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s hairstylist did her hair.
Serge Normant styled her hair in a low bun. Daniel Martin did her makeup.
Prince Charles walked Meghan Markle down the aisle.
But only halfway — she made a statement by choosing not to be “given away” but to do it herself.
yahoo
Prince Harry was beaming when he saw his bride for the first time.
“You look amazing. I’m so lucky,” he said to Markle after he lifted her veil when they first met up at the altar.
American Bishop Michael Curry stole the show.
The Most Rev. Michael Bruce Curry, the 27th presiding bishop and primate of the Episcopal Church, traveled from Chicago to speak during the ceremony. “We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love. And when we do that, we will make of this old world a new world,” the bishop said. “Love is the only way. There’s power in love. Don’t underestimate it. Don’t even oversentimentalize it. There’s power, power in love.”
yahoo
A gospel choir sang ‘Stand by Me.’
Karen Gibson and the Kingdom Choir, a London-based gospel choir, performed the song as the couple sat holding hands and watching.
yahoo
The royal couple had their first kiss outside, on the steps of St. George’s Chapel.
They kissed right in front of the floral arch that was decorated with white roses to honor Princess Diana.
yahoo
Princess Charlotte waved to the crowd.
As the newlyweds made their way to the horse-drawn carriage, members of the royal family stayed at the top of the stairs. All eyes were on Princess Charlotte as she waved to onlookers.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex make their public debut!
Now officially known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the couple traveled in a carriage through Windsor for 25 minutes before heading into the lunchtime reception.
yahoo
Her Majesty the Queen hosted the lunchtime reception at St. George’s Hall in Windsor Castle.
Guests dined on Scottish langoustines wrapped in smoked salmon with citrus crème fraîche; grilled English asparagus wrapped in Cumbrian ham; garden pea panna cotta with quail eggs and lemon verbena; heritage tomato and basil tartare with balsamic pearls; poached free-range chicken bound in a lightly spiced yogurt with roasted apricot; croquette of confit Windsor lamb, roasted vegetables and shallot jam; and farm asparagus spears with mozzarella and sun-blush tomatoes.
Guests ate cake made with elderflower syrup.
California-born baker Claire Ptak created the cake, which was cut by the newlyweds at the luncheon.
The wedding cake is to be served at the Reception. It was designed by Claire Ptak and features elderflower syrup made at The Queen’s residence in Sandringham from the estate’s own elderflower trees, as well as a light sponge cake uniquely formulated for the couple. #royalwedding pic.twitter.com/kt5lE4tEn9

“Prince Harry asked Sir Elton to perform at the reception, which was hosted by Her Majesty the Queen at St. George’s Hall, Windsor Castle,” Kensington Palace confirmed in a tweet. “Sir Elton performed for the newly married couple in recognition of the close connection he has with Prince Harry and his family.”

The Duchess of Sussex changed into a Stella McCartney gown.
After the lunchtime reception, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a few hours to rest and change. Markle swapped out her Givenchy ceremony gown for a custom gown designed by Stella McCartney featuring a bespoke lily white high neck gown made of silk crepe, according to Kensington Palace. She has on Aquazurra high heels made in silky satin with the soles painted baby blue. Her hair was done in a low bun with loose waves and tendrils framing her face by George Northwood.

The couple rode in a Jaguar to the reception at Frogmore House hosted by Prince Charles.
For the short ride from Windsor Castle to Frogmore House, the couple rode in a silver blue Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero. Kensington Palace says that while the car was originally manufactured in 1968, it’s been converted to run entirely on electric power.
