Interesting bit about Bakugo’s character:

His eyes.

I was scrolling through some old liked videos on tiktok, and I encountered a post by user ttenkos (on tiktok) about how Katsuki’s eyes are hidden when he experiences a lot of hurt and emotion.

Because of that, it’s likely he’s crying here, they argued. (below)

Or he’s at least really hurt, and it’s apparent in his eyes.

And so a lot of us have made that connection. That Katsuki hides his face because he’s about to or is crying.

But like, I finally put two and two together and realized just how significant Katsuki’s eyes are—

Bakugo’s eyes betray his emotions.

Which is a trait unlike of any other character in My Hero.

This is established in the first damn chapter of the manga.

Bakugou’s eyes are like literally the thing that propelled this story forward because when Bakugo was shouting insults and blasting his quirk, they exposed his fear and motivated Izuku to act.

Then… Izuku tells Bakugo his secret. And the whole time, Bakugo is on the verge of crying.

From puffy eyes to a clouded glare, there’s something about his eyes in every panel.

He hides behind his hair for a while, and after that it’s revealed…

That Katsuki is crying :(

I love this scene so much. Wanna give it a kiss on the cheek /// there’s so much insight into their characters!

That same pattern is shown here:

And in that scene with Endeavor. But this time, he doesn’t cry when his eyes are exposed. Which I think says as much about his character as the previous examples.

And then there’s this, finally.

Yeah baby, that’s what I’ve been waiting for. That’s what it’s all about.

Anyways, there wasn’t really a point to this post. I just love what Horikoshi does with Bakugo’s character, and this little quirk (haha) of Bakugo just has a special place in my heart. So I wanted to share :)

Katsuki’s return is imminent, we all know this.

But do we all remember one of the last things ShigAFO said to him before he went down for the count?

Chapter 360

This line was officially translated for the English release with Katsuki being called “Izuku Midoriya’s hanger-on—a minnow in One For All’s wake,” but notice the bit highlighted in orange? That says 金魚の糞 (kingyo no fun), meaning goldfish poop. It is a pretty, uh, visual idiom that “hanger-on” and “minnow” are both trying to capture.

But here’s the thing, someone else has said something like this to him before.

Chapter 164

Gang Orca calls all the remedial course kids ダボハゼの糞 (dabohaze no fun), meaning goby poop.

Do you remember how Katsuki responded back then?

I want that boy to pop back up on the battlefield, covered in blood, after more than forty chapters and a whole year of real-world anticipation, so he can dramatically show up at Izuku’s side just in the nick of time,

no, like bakugou and bakudeku antis are LOSING THEIR MINDS over this, it’s so funny lmaoooo Bakugou is very important to Izuku, and if you missed his character development and are still stuck in the first arc of the series, idk what to tell you. argue with the wall tho. we finally have a Tomura development.

this page from the new bnha chapter (360) could be the spark of what we have been waiting for a long time, Tomura’s return.

what mirio tells tomura in this page is “Sokka, omae wa, tomodachi ga inakattan dana.” which could be translated as “I see, you didn’t have any friends.”

before this, tomura has no pupils, as usual, since he is not the one in full control. but after mirio tells him this, he appears to have his pupil(s) back. and his response to Mirio is “Huh?”.

THIS IS SO IMPORTANT.

he almost has his normal eyes back. he is surprised. he stops for a second and then gets hit by Mirio.

what was Tomura doing here? why couldn’t he dodge, or why couldn’t he defend himself with all those crazy arms? it’s because he was caught so off guard that he couldn’t even do anything. what Mirio told him must have sparked something in him. of course we cannot know what exactly he was thinking at that moment unless we see his pov, but i assume he was questioning whether he ever had friends or not. which would lead to him thinking about THE LEAGUE.

yes, the league. THEY were his friends. toga, spinner, twice, compress, kurogiri, dabi, magne. he HAD friends. he had friends that he cared about. he had friends that cared about him. each other.

and he still has them. he just has to remember again. he has to remember himself, his friends, and reject AFO. and it seems like this chapter might be the start of it.

MHA Chapter 360 spoilers translations

This week’s initial tentative super rough/literal translations under the cut.

1 緑谷出久はここに居る筈だったそうだろ？みどりやいずくはここにいるはずだったそうだろ？ Midoriya Izuku wa koko ni iru hazu datta sou daro? “Izuku Midoriya was supposed to be here, right?”

tagline 届かないー… とどかないー… todokanai--... Doesn’t reach--...

2 なら遠からずここに戻ってくるならとおからずここにもどってくる nara tookarazu koko ni modotte kuru “Then he’ll return here soon.”

tagline No.360 それでも　　堀越耕平ナンバー360 それでも　　ほりこしこうへい NANBAA 360 soredemo Horikoshi Kouhei No. 360 Nevertheless Kohei Horikoshi (Note: "Soredemo" is the word that often comes before "sara ni mukou he" aka "go beyond".)

5 指… ゆび… yubi... “finger[s]...”

9 この男はーーーこのおとこはーーー kono otoko wa--- This man is--- (Note: Jeanist is acknowledging that Katsuki has grown into a man like how he told Katsuki to return to him one day and tell him his hero name.)

2 まだ mada [he’s] still (Note: This is a sentence cut-off mid-sentence, but there’s an implication that Katsuki is still fighting/still hasn’t given up/is still in the fight.)

🚨Spoiler Alert! 🚨

What’s cruel is that Bakugo has an inferior complex. It’s his biggest form of anxiety and self-loathing.

So when he was kidnapped, it wasn’t bc of AFO wanting Bakugo…

…but it was really bc of AFO wanting OFA/Izuku.

When I was thinking of possible reasons I COULD be wrong about Bkdk happening , I thought 'maybe deku was just hiding his platonic emotions about Bakugo & withdrawing more because he doesn't want to push his intense admiration / defensiveness etc onto Bakugo' (who has a history of being resistant to that sort of affection , and may see it as Dk looking down on him or whatever)

But then Bakugo apologized - he pretty much opened up to Deku completely , said he was wrong to reject dk , that he regrets distancing himself , and implied that he wants to change that , and then he held dk in his arms !!! This of all things could've been Dk's pass to be more open about what he feels , but he still doesn't show any more

I think that maybe Dk could've had some subconscious hope that this impending feeling of unease about his emotions was for platonic reasons - that he was just hesitant to spring his friendship onto bk and possibly scare him off - that is until Bk gave his whole speech - NOW , Dk seemingly has no reason to hide how he feels , right ? And that's where it seems to have no chance of being platonic anymore - Bk is embracing dk , yet for some unexplained reason , Deku is still hiding
