the more i think abt it the more i realise im one of those ppl whos interest in something will dwindle quickly if i dont have a friend to enjoy it with. unless i extremely love it, my interest in it will fade away so fast

I think the worst part mediawise is people from other countries commenting on the situation as if they understood it at all. They just watched a few clips and called it a day, just yesterday they wouldn’t have been able to tell who Milei was if you held them at gunpoint

Not that they would care anyway. People congratulating him are happy on their faraway bubbles were “left bad right good” and there’s no shades in the middle whatsoever. Why care about third world countries anyway? :p

i like creating art (drawing, painting, etc), writing, ttrpgs and roleplaying, linguistics, cooking, and i'm interested in modifying or making things like clothes, blankets, etc. other things i'm interested in is old web coding, psychology, plush toys and photography.

mediawise i like video games (puzzle, rpgs, and exploration games are my favorites), some anime and cartoons, webcomics, and animated cartoons. some games i really enjoy are touhou project, nintendo games (specifically kirby, pokemon, splatoon, fire emblem, and the legend of zelda), puyo puyo, and undertale/deltarune. i also really enjoy kagerou project and petscop!

((Yeah don’t do that holy shit.

If you want a fish tank whether it be single species of community you NEED to do your research and only choose species comparable with each other, don’t overcrowd and put together an appropriate setup.

Me personally I like to replicate the natural environment of the species I keep as best I can in a home environment.

Also if you buy a tank setup kit be aware that some components that come in the kits are NOT ideal for the tanks size.

For example my 130 litre tank was a kit setup and it came with a regular white LED light bar, a shitty HOB (hang on back) filter and only one heater. There’s no way in hell that HOB filter would handle the volume of water and the wattage of the one heater wouldn’t be capable of evenly maintaining the water temp.

So I got a second heater and positioned them one either end and got a thermometer I attached in the centre so I can easily see whether the temps are even throughout the tank.

I also swapped out the shit HOB filter for a decent canister filter (great because it has 3 baskets I can customise the filter media in to suit my specific setup) and I also purchased some blue LED strip light to add onto the light bar that I can switch in after I turn off the stock LED light to mimic moonlight for a couple hours before I turn it off completely.

I have a planted tank with live plants so filter mediawise I use 2 different sized sponges in the first stage basket to catch larger debris. Middle basket I have ceramic & sintered glass ‘noodles’ that provide a surface for beneficial bacteria colonies and in the third and final basket I have a blend of carbon (removes toxins and odours + helps clear water), zeolite (helps keep ammonia levels down) and Seachem Phosguard (helps remove phosphates which can be responsible for algae blooms)

In the interest of algae cleanup I also have some plecos, a pair of SAE’s (Siamese algae eaters) and a freshwater mussel.

If you want live plants depending on the fish species you have in the tank you’ll need to choose appropriate plants.

For example silver dollars WILL devour your plants so that’s why I’ve chosen Blue Stricta for my tank with a spotted silver dollar pair because this plant grows faster than the silver dollars can consume it.))

ok I wanna talk about these posts

Now I don't wanna say these posts are wrong or that I disagree with them, but they are only two of many that I see in a similar vein and my general take is: We need to change the way we have this conversation.

Because yes. It is true that young people get indoctrinated on TikTok (and other platforms including tumblr!) in the same way older generations get indoctrinated through FOX News or Facebook.

But we can't let these conversations always start and stop with "these groups are gullible and THIS vague entity is responsible for it and I am so smart for realising this and they're stupid for not realising it".

We need to finally start solution-oriented conversations. We need people who don't just point at the problem but actually talk about how we can fix it.

TikTok has an issue with misinformation that users don't have the tools to recognise?

Well here's a list of only a few of the TikTok accounts that fight this issue right on the platform where they can get these users' attention.

All of these, to varying degrees, correct misinformation and/or provide tools to promote media literacy. Some even want to help change the platform altogether.

I know not everyone who wants to help can do things like this, but a good place to start helping change things would be to support these accounts and all the other people out there doing what they do. Most of them are on other platforms or have websites (or Patreon/Ko-Fi/etc bc monetary support for these efforts is important too) if you don't wanna get a TikTok account to help them get more attention.

And here is a Masterpost where I collect resources for how to improve your own media literacy and how to help others do the same (and I promise you, no matter how smart or skilled or media-literate you think you are, you will learn something new from these). This masterpost is updated regularly and includes a longer list of TikTok users to follow as well.

So next time you see a post like this about how stupid TikTok users are for falling for conspiracies or how Facebook is nothing but fake news or whatever, think about whether the post is actually helping in some way or only trying to make tumblr users feel superior over others, and maybe try to share something you learned here instead.

I think metawise the only reason Claire is in Death Island is because of the Resident Evil 2 Remake. Mediawise, her last appearance was 2021 in Infinite Darkness, even though in the canon timeline her last appearance was all the way back in 2011 when the timeline has gone all the way up to 2021, not counting the Rose epilogue. So maybe they're just cashing in on her recent spike in popularity.

I agree that the shippers are very cringy. I wish that "Chrisposting" and the fucking "Redfield Bloodline" joke would just die. That is toxic in so many ways, it reduces Claire to the "women are meant to have babies" role, removes Leon's agency in choosing his own partner by implying that Ada is the "wrong" choice, and it makes Chris come off as creepily obsessed with his sister's sex life. How can people not see how gross that is?

YEAH i find it really confusing. i assume something will clear it up in death island but even then i'm skeptical. claire has no major plot lines to explore anymore so it seems like she's just there for fan service ig.

i just wish that the shippers weren't constantly cringe/bordering harassing/misogynistic with their takes/opinions

i remember when i saw the bloodline joke i was like. ah ha ha, funny.

and then i NEVER LAUGHED AT IT AGAIN cause it wasn't actually funny. i think i was just caught off guard, but people really be taking a "joke" too far and applying it to real life scenarios.

i think one of the things that gets me with claire stans is that they put her on this pedestal of "she's good wholesome good caregiver" therefore, she deserves leon. as if she or leon has no agency in their actions.
