Ok so, I just read your Little Dance one-shot and I was wondering, how would Khonshu react when during the prom, someone else asked you to dance with them? I'd imagine he'd get at least a little (extremely) jealous and possive...
Okey... I KNOW I'M NOT TAKING REQUESTS BUT PLEASE THIS IS TOO GOOD NOT TO WRITE!!! This is kinda sounding like a smut idea, but not with me, sorry.
Genre: fluff
Warnings: swearing like always, sassy reader, jealous and slightly possessive Khon, age gap,
Summary: Khonshu got a "little" jealous when you dance with another guy at the prom.
Paring: Khonshu x his avatar! teen! reader
You wanted to go home, did you?
Tumblr media
Pov. (Y/n)
I got out of a car and walked inside the building. I felt Khonshu's presence and looked at him.
- Are you doing to look after me whole night?
I whispered and he nodded. I groaned and walked to the room where prom was. I passed the door and saw bunch of people dancing and a lot of colored lights. I gasped and smiled when I saw my 2 friends in the corner.
- HEY (Y/N)!
One of the girls shouted and hugged me tightly. I hugged back and looked behind her, there were 3 guys. I pulled away from her.
- What's going on with them?
I asked into her ear, not wanting to be rude.
- Well, Chris wanted to ask you something and the rest are with us.
She said and they walked away, leaving me and Chris alone. I crossed my arms on my chest and raised my brow.
- Well.. I wanted to ask you if you would like to dance with me?
He asked, looking down and I smiled.
- Of course, Chris!
I said and he dragged me into the dance floor. There were a few jumpy songs, before one slow started to play. He held his hand in front of me and I got nervous. I slowly placed my hand on his and he pulled me to his chest. His hands on my hips and mine behind his neck. We were swaying our hips from right to the left, until we heard loud wind outside and lights turn off for a second. I looked out of the window and saw Khonshu.
I pulled away from Chris and ran outside. I ran to the windows where I earlier saw God. He was sitting on a big rock next to the path.
- What the fuck was that?!
I shouted and walked closer to him. He stayed silent, not even looking at me.
- I'm talking to you!
Still nothing.
- I fucking can't have a ONE evening without work or you and just be my normal self?!
I shouted and he finally looked at me. He stood up and looked at my face.
Shit...
I thought, remembering how tall he is. He sighed.
- I think it's time for us to get home, little bug..
He said without any emotions.
- Are you kidding?! I just got here and I'm not going to let you destroy this evening!
I said and turned my back to him.
- (Y/N)!!! WHERE ARE YOU!?!
I heard Chris shouting.
- Now, I'm sorry, but I have to go back to someone.
I said and walked away from him. I felt a strong grip on my wrist, pulling me behind a few big bushes. I looked up at the God and frowned. I opened my mouth to say something, but his hand landed on my lips.
- Be quiet.
He said with an angry voice and pecked his big beak out of a bush. I sighed and looked down.
So my evening is going to be shitty...
I thought and felt my eyes becoming wet.
- (Y/N)!! SHIT!! PLEASE! WHERE ARE YOU?!
I looked at Khonshu with pleading eyes. He nodded and pulled away his hand from my lips.
- I'm- I'm here!
I stuttered, wiping my tears.
- Oh thank god! Are you alright?!
He said and I heard his footsteps coming towards me.
- I'm fine. I just need a little alone time.
He stopped.
- Are- are you sure?
- Yes. I'm sorry that I have worried you so much, Chris.
I said and looked down.
- It's okey. Well, if you would like to get back I will be waiting inside for you.
He said and I heard his footsteps fading away. I was silent for a little, waiting for God to say something, but he didn't.
- What is it this time?
I sighed, finally looking up at him. He looked down at me.
- I don't like seeing you happy with other guys..
He said and I snorted.
- So you are telling me you are jealous? Of me?
I asked and put my hands on my hips. He stayed silent.
- Well.. then at least give me free time to talk to my girl best friends and not pull me away from everybody!
I said, turned around and took one step forward.
- You are not going back there, (Y/n).
He said and pulled me by my waist, turning me to face him.
- That's what I talking abo-!
I didn't finish and he pulled me into a big hug. His beak laying on top of my head and his hands tightly wrapped around my waist.
- Khonshu.. wha- what are you doing?
I asked, panicking.
Since I had remembered he never actually hugged me!! I sometimes did it, but it's different!
- I think I..... I think I love you...
He whispered and my eyes opened wide. I stayed quiet for a second.
- I... love you too...
I breathed out and pulled away from him.
- Could you... umm... kneel, please... you are too tall...
He tilted his head and did what I asked for. I cupped my hands on the sides of his skull and gave him a kiss between his eye holes. I placed bunch of kisses there and down to the end of his beak. He cooed lightly which made me smile widely.
- You like it, big bird?
I asked and he hummed in response. I giggled and placed one last kiss on the end of his beak.
- I think you wanted to go home, did you?
I asked and he chuckled.
- And I think you wanted to stay, did you?
He said and I blushed. He laughed and cupped my face.
- Let's go home and we will do only our party.
He said and caressed my cheek with his thumb.
- Mmm.. okey, but first let me inform my friends that I need to go..
- They can wait and you can text them later..
He said and he stood up from the ground. He wrapped his arm around me and teleported us to my room. I plopped on my bed and grabbed my phone. I immediately texted on our group that I had to leave earlier and told girls to tell Chris.
I felt big hands wrapping around my waist and warm pressed against my back. I saw his beak laying above my head and I pressed a small kiss on the bottom of it.
- I thought you wanted to dance?
He asked and I turned off my phone.
- Not anymore..

The Good Father and the Embodiment of Rage in Moon Knight
This insight goes against the common interpretation of Khonshu as another abuser that Marc needs to get free of, but I've been thinking about it for a while now. It sits tightly within the story structure, which repeatedly presents Khonshu as a positive, courageous figure even as it shows his harshness and cruelty. Bear with me here.
We know for a fact, based on what Oscar Isaac and Mohammed Diab have said, that Ammit is directly paralleled to Marc's abusive mother, Wendy. The episodes where we examine Wendy also feature Taweret, a kind mother goddess who offers a foil for Wendy's hatred, and who acts as a foil for Ammit. Where Ammit judges instantly and devours the unworthy, Taweret offers unconditional support and encouragement while your heart is being weighed on the boat. She can't stop the Duat from claiming the unbalanced, but she will assist the system in trying to balance themselves and show genuine regret when they can't in time. She is also duly horrified by the souls falling directly to the Duat before their time, and becomes the second god to try and stop Harrow and Ammit.
Which means that while Marc's mother has a divine parallel, a divine Bad Mother, there's also a divine Good Mother to offset her. A deity with positive traits opposed to his mother's negative traits. And if Marc has a pair of divine mother figures, then does he also have a pair of divine father figures?
Well, yes. This is going to get a bit longer.
Khonshu is obviously a father figure. But Khonshu is nothing like Marc's actual father, Elias. Elias lives in denial about his wife's treatment of his son, he doesn't believe what Marc tells him, he takes no actions to stop her. Marc's Bad Father is marked by inaction, denial and disbelief, and there is a deity who embodies these traits in the show: Osiris. Marc begs Osiris for help and is written off as unreliable due to his mental illness. Osiris is in denial about Harrow's intentions and probably his ability to actually find Ammit, and chooses to do nothing. Yes, Osiris comes through in the end by opening the gates (and Elias did try to welcome Marc back to the house after Wendy's death) but that's after his own Avatar has been killed and he can't ignore it any longer. Osiris is a good god but he plays the bad father in this story.
And if Osiris is Elias, the Bad Father, then it's inescapable that Khonshu is meant to be the Good Father. Khonshu knows what's going on. Khonshu is not fooled by Harrow's lies. Khonshu calls the community leadership, at risk to himself, to help when Marc asks him to. Khonshu turns back the freaking stars in the sky, also at risk to himself, when it becomes necessary. Khonshu physically puts himself between Ammit and the people of the city. Khonshu is the active father who not just stops abuse but prevents it in the first place. Khonshu is the Good Father here.
So how do we reconcile this placement of Khonshu with the abusive conversation at the end of Episode 2, and the constant manipulation to keep Marc as his Avatar? Well, Khonshu doesn't JUST symbolize the Good Father, he also symbolizes Marc's rage about his upbringing.
Oscar Isaac points this out in the behind the scenes special where he says "There's that literal side of Khonshu, and then there's the metaphor, which is the embodiment of Marc's rage."
Sounds at odds with the idea of him as the Good Father, until you look at it from Marc's point of view. His father getting angry at his mother would have led to his father defending him. and Khonshu's rage does fuel his defender aspect. Rage is a positive thing when dealing with injustice.
Now, consider Khonshu as JUST Marc's rage for a moment, and contextualize Marc's relationship with Khonshu with that in mind. Khonshu stands over Marc's back and barks orders and criticisms. He is never far from him. He's birdlike, crouching and perching and peering. He demands that Marc always go a little farther in his actions. That he kill someone. And it's always just one more mission, and then he'll be satisfied. Just one more thing.
And the argument in Episode 2. Consider what he says. Now, we see Wendy's abuse of Marc recalled SEVERAL times in the show with Steven, Layla and Harrow all laying blame at Marc's feet with words that are similar to hers. The key words are usually "your fault" when paralelling Wendy. But Khonshu's abusive conversation is unlike any of them, it doesn't reflect or recall Wendy at all. It's a reflections of MARC'S inner shame. It is Marc's rage about his past, turned inward.
"You think this body belongs to you?" Shame over his condition.
"You were nothing more than a corpse when I found you." Shame over his failures.
"You have proven you cannot!" when Marc says he can handle the Steven situation. More shame over his condition.
"You may not like my next candidate, near and dear as she is to you." Your rage will infect your loved ones and turn them into you.
Lacking an appropriate target for the rage, what was a positive trait becomes a negative trait as it is aimed at an inappropriate target. (See also poor Steven.)
This conversation happens away from Harrow, after the Jackal has been killed, when there is no one around to beat up anymore but Marc himself. Because Khonshu is filled with this uncontrolled, bursting rage with nothing to be directed at BUT Marc. And so is Marc.
It may surprise some of you to hear THIS is why I think Marc needs to be back to working with Khonshu.
Khonshu's a god, not a person. He's also a lunar god. The moon reflects the sun. Khonshu reflects his avatar. He's not like a mortal parent, even as he represents one. He's like a part of Marc. Specifically, he is a part of Marc that Marc can't just throw away or ignore in the hopes it won't ever surface again. That shit comes back. That shit needs to be managed.
No contact is a damned good idea for an abusive parent but it's a terrible strategy when it comes to your own collected rage at the abuse.
That's why the show ends with Khonshu still working with Jake. Because Steven was right when he started to negotiate with Khonshu but he made a terrible mistake when he asked to be released. Because you can't get released from your rage, you have to get CONTROL of it. If you try to run away from it it will return to control you.
Khonshu can't be sent away, can't be destroyed, and can't be allowed to fester within Marc and take over the system. Khonshu must be acknowledged. Khonshu must be confronted. Khonshu must be given boundaries.
Khonshu must be tamed.
Remember how Khonshu dresses and acts around Marc? He's wild. He is dressed in tattered rags like he's been living in the wilderness and hasn't gotten anything new to wear since his banishment. He perches and sits like a wild bird, not a man. He screams, he yells, he berates. He can't even remember enough about being part of civilization to act properly before the Ennead.
But he was significantly different when it was just Steven at the end of Episode 3. He stood upright and was wistful, sad, and regretful. He wasn't pure anger, he was embodying grief because that was more reflective of how Steven processes his trauma.
And then we have the end credits scene. Khonshu is now wearing a finely tailored suit. He's sitting in the car and all his body language is human now. With Jake, Khonshu is in control, directed, deliberate. Khonshu is tamed.
Jake has the way ahead here.

Vigilante Shit
A short story of Jake's mind in the final episode and post-credit scene of Moon Knight. Inspired by "Vigilante Shit" by Taylor Swift and my analysis on the characters and the show. 627 words.
Tumblr media
Content: Non-graphic violence, mentions of trauma, a bit of self-depreciation
Jake is relieved that the world is safe from Harrow and Ammit for now. He manages to overpower Harrow and his followers in the final fight. He does it to protect the system and Layla. Saving the world is just an additional outcome to him.
As much as Jake loves Marc, Steven and Layla, he prefers to stay anonymous. He knows how horrified they are upon seeing his brutal actions. How could they ever accept him? They probably see him as a monster. They all have done some bad things, but Jake sees himself as the worst of them. Though, he is glad that he is set free by Steven. Without Steven breaking through the wall set by Marc, he may still be stuck here, supressed by Marc for a long time.
Jake is disappointed that Marc does not kill Harrow, but he understands why. Ammit is trapped in Harrow’s body. She is now in a vulnerable state. Khonshu wants Harrow dead because he believes that Ammit will return and bring chaos once more. He is willing to do anything to stop her. Marc is right to point out that the Egyptian god of moon and vengeance has the same mindset as Ammit’s. To Marc, Ammit reminds him of his mother because she always passed unfair judgment to him since that accident. He is done taking her words or anyone’s words that reminds him of her into heart. That is why he disobeys Khonshu.
Jake thinks that Marc and Steven are foolish to give up being Moon Knight. Then again, Marc is manipulated into it, while Steven accidentally gets dragged into this. At least he willingly serves Khonshu and his anonymity helps to secure the powers. He needs the powers to continue protecting the system effectively. Now Marc and Steven are set free, he also needs to preserve their peace – he does not want to drag them into his messy job.
Harrow is sent to a psychiatric hospital in London. Khonshu keeps an eye on him. Marc and Steven think that Harrow will be fine there since he is now in a weakened and apathetic state. They have forgotten that Harrow has many followers around the world, and they will do anything to get him out of there.
Time passes, and sure enough, some of Harrow’s followers have located him and have infiltrated the hospital by dressing up as employees. Khonshu knows that it is bad news and he orders Jake to finish Harrow off.
Jake gladly follows the order. He has been waiting for the chance to enact his revenge on Harrow for what he has done to the system. He still blames himself for not being able to protect Marc and Steven from getting shot twice by Harrow. He feels that he should do better since he is the protector in the system.
Jake drives his limousine to the psychiatric hospital and takes Harrow out of there. Of course, he has to kill two hospital staffs, who are actually Harrow’s followers, because they try to stop him. The other staffs are easier to deal with as he can charm his way through.
Jake does not want to reveal his identity to Harrow until the right moment. The right moment comes when Khonshu, who has dressed for revenge and has stolen Steven’s fashion sense, introduces him to Harrow. He relishes that his piercing eyes reflected on the rear mirror have told Harrow how it ends. His looks have killed off any hope Harrow has of escaping with his life.
Finally, he shoots Harrow twice – getting even at last. Satisfied with his revenge, he drives off, knowing full well that he has accomplished his duty as the protector of the system, and the best one that is.

Khonshu had to be nerfed in small, inconvenient ways because of the length of his powers
Yes, being forever young is cool until the other gods people make you sit at the ‘kids table’ for kicks
Or when the sun rises your powers are instantly reduced to not even a quarter of what they were before
And lord forbid having people make constant bird jokes only about you when multiple gods are in fact, birds.
When they were younger Ammit tried to make Khonshu eat bird feed

My family and I are rewatching Moon Knight and at the end of episode 5 I asked why Jake wasn't a part of the scale balancing and my mom said something really good.
"Steven has been with him (Marc) since childhood, while the other guy (Jake) was something he created later in life. Things in your childhood will be more a part of you than things in your adulthood."
And she is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT
Steven has been there for Marc ever since everything happened when he was a boy and Marc has been there for Steven. While Jake was a part of Marc before and during Khonshu's service. He even made some type of deal with Khonshu himself or Khonshu is lying to him by saying that he is still in Khonshu's service. Jake is absolutely still important, but he wasn't there through the pain Marc and Steven went through. But I think (if they do a season 2) we will see the pain he and Marc went through before and during Khonshu's service and they will become closer that way.
(Please tell me if I have gotten any of this wrong and I will correct it. I'm not an expert on this disorder)
