howver im thinking of more ways the other sonics could have breakdowns, and do correct me if any of this is like not in character bc i love to ehar abt ur au!
ok first kindness – i think he would like have a goal for him to go to everybody weekly to ask if they need anything for him to help with (usually daily actually) and when he doesnt reach that "goal" he might think of himself as like less of a good friend bc he isnt helping enough which could SO turn into overworking and just!! BREAKDANCE OR BREAKDOWN WOO
chill i think would just do not as much as the others, opting o always lay down and just be calm n. chill! and maybe cux of that sometimes he thinks that he isnt as useful as the others sometimes but i jus think hes probably the least most mentally ill cuz hes like "no time for sadness when you swagness" (thats probly his motto)
energetic would deffo think hes too annoying to all of them but like!! he has too much energy!! he has to burn it off soMEHOW so theyre just like "no another time not now" and its like hes just!! he probably starts getting kidna sad but like he has other friends to play with, right?
determine is a bomb abt to EXPLODE and like!! he has pure anxiety, he always needs to know shadows and also his friends locations and they have to tell him or else he just starts panicking and cant function until he sees them again. also with how he blames himself for everything, probably has a tendency to apologize all the time so theyre confused cuz hed be with vanilla, cream, n amy and hed accidentally knock somethin over and go "im so sorry I shouldn't have done that why did i do that i should leave" and shadow probably has to calm him down the most
competitive is 2000% existing because he says he "needs to be better than everybody else" when its just "i want to prove to myself im good enough" when he cant, he doesnt know if he is bc like!! only shadow can race against him and they always tie and he probably ends up pushing himself So Hard that shadow has to just make a competition out of getting rest or else competition dead straight won't sleep until hes perfected this, gotten better at that, made sure he didnt lose any skill on something, or etc bc he still wants to prove to not just himzelf but to everybody hes good enough so they can confide in him!!

Also, I usually draw them with the same other characters a lot, like I usually draw Competitive with Knuckles, and Knuckles at first just goes along, fights Competitive and everyone happy, but then it's like weeell he kind of has a very important emerald to look after, and everytime Competitive looses he wants a rematch and it just gets tiring. But like, Competitive feels the need to prove that he is strong and capable! So they get stuck on his loop.
Then there's Energetic and Amy, he kind of just shows up, looking to burn some energy, and at first she just lets him, but she isn't really pleased with having him running around in her house, he starts bumping into things and breaking some other, and even if he is sorry he just can't stop moving! Amy then starts trying to get him to stop, or to just get him out of the house but she also feels a little guilty because she knows he doesn't do it on purpose.
There's also Determined and Shadow, we all know Determined follows him around and tries to protect him all the time, but it starts to intervene with Shadow's life as well. Rouge is kind of annoyed by it, and it causes trouble at GUN, and Shadow's an introvert, so being followed around isn't really his favorite thing. I just imagine Shadow just walking while Determined is not only behind him, but looking around, suddenly making Shadow stop if he hears anything weird, or sees anyone suspicious, but it's actually nothing. Shadow would try to get him to leave him alone, but Determined always has the 'what if's.
Finally there's Chill, Kind and Tails. Tails is very busy, trying to find a solution for this five Sonics thing, but it's a little hard with two out of five always distracting him. I imagine Kind offering to help, at first Tails let him, but something goes wrong and he's like 'haha never again' and then Kind is just left to stand behind Tails, waiting to be given a task, while Chill isn't actually helping at all, he's using all the space just laying around, if Tails ever needs him he's okay with helping??? But he doesn't really put all his effort in, so in the end it's as if he did nothing. It's not that he doesn't want to help, but like, why ask him? Kind is already there and eager to help.
I also like to think about interactions between the Sonics! Because some of them are kind of opposites, like Kind and Competitive, or Chill and Energetic (or Chill and Determined), so it's fun to imagine things like Competitive going around showing everyone how strong and fast he is, and Kind's just like 'well you're not being very nice' and Competitive doesn't really know how to react???? Or Determined being all worried over something, and desperately trying to fix it, and Chill just being like 'dude chill, you're exaggerating way too much' So that's interesting too, even more considering it's quite literally just Sonic talking to himself:)

what if sonic forces took place in a computer? like in an entirely digital world? the phantom ruby would function exactly the same... only now, “virtual reality” would be literal. infinite would be a computer program, an ai created by eggman to bend and shape the virtual world to suit his own vision. cuz like, eggman has tried to take over the world before. several times. it’s never worked. so maybe, in forces... he tries creating an entirely new world instead. but of course, to truly be A World, it needs to have occupants... so he kidnaps sonic, because who else would be worthy of being the first test subject if not his arch nemesis?
obviously his friends realize he’s gone missing fairly quickly, but they’ve also noticed some... side effects... from eggman’s virtual world as it starts to leak into the real world. first, widespread power outages with no known cause. second, data scrambling... which then turns into rewriting... as infinite starts to take over more and more of the world’s electronics.
infinite’s meddling eventually allows for tails to trace his signal, and he and some other freedom fighters hop into the virtual world to save sonic. in the actual game, the chaos emeralds are nowhere to be seen, and it’s really weird especially because they’re not so much as mentioned. like, the world is in peril, don’t y’all think those would be helpful? no? ok. but in this, the chaos emeralds just... don’t exist, literally. why would they? it’s eggmanland, bro. everything is to eggman’s advantage, forcing our heroes to come up with new strategies since they’re unable to rely on old mcguffins.
the phantom ruby eventually evolves beyond what eggman ever thought possible... now, the virtual reality really is leaking into the real world! from the devices infinite was able to sink his claws into comes terrifying specters that look like giant, warped copies of himself. reality starts to “glitch” around them, too, turning red and fragmented. at first, eggman is ecstatic, because now he can have his cake (the virtual world) and eat it too (the real world).
but here’s the thing... with power, comes ego, and infinite doesn’t wanna listen to eggman anymore... something something... eggman ends up helping the heroes take infinite down from outside of the computers... and by the end of it all, infinite kinda just disappears. the assumption is that he was erased... but what if the very last shot we see is of him in the REAL world? he started out as simply a line of code, then formed his own image inside the computer, and finally ended with that form realized in a physical sense. almost like... a physical representation of his arc... even though his body wouldn’t exactly BE physical. while existing outside the computer, it’s just kinda like. a hologram. but maybe in the sequel he’ll seek out a REAL body or something idk <3
anyways hope you liked my pitch for how i would rewrite this game because it has been living in my brain for so long and if you can believe it, this is the cliffnotes version :’)

Design choices and other notes under the cut,,
Sonic
Kept all of his original clothing choices, the gloves the shoes. Only thing i really thought About otherwise was the yellow lines there are the strings of a necklace, a callback to Sonic Underground since that was my only reference for the sonic franchise up until the fandub aha. pretty simple design otherwise.
Tails
A little bit hate this one but that’s okay. There’s just a lot of orange and yellow which is not an enjoyable colour pallet in large doses for me. He is small,,, because hes like,, 8?? hes just a baby,,, the vest and shorts were made to mimic Sonic’s. because,, sidekick,,, idol,, He really only has the scarf to mimic his two tails because i couldn't figure out what else to do. Of course kept the normal shoes and gloves.
Amy
Very simple, easy, Her quills were easy to make hair, and since she and all the girls always have full outfits i didn't have to try and make something up,,, very easy thank you Amy
Shadow
An emo bastard whom i love. Only clothes I kept where his shoes really. His gloves were kept for the most bard but I made they finger less because its what he deserves,,, Made the chest fluff into a bandanna because im always a slut fro bandannas like how sexy of you Shadow wrow. Other than that, maybe leather jacket?? ist fro sure a jacket!! and jeans, all blackish/ dark greys because he has an aesthetic man. He also has a gun just cuz,, heels also,,
Silver
Okay this bitch fucked me up more then he should have considering hes the reason i wanted to do this in the first place?? I gave him long hair in a ponytail n stuff because 1, to replicate his longer quills than the others and 2, its what we all deserve don’t at me. Don’t even question me on the blue lipstick i just felt it was necessary fro some reason. His chest fluff is replicated by the fur collar of his outfit. I kept his gloves (?) and the neon blue pattern throughout it. I know I got the boots from one of his designs but i’m not exactly sure which one? the tailcoat was very self indulgent cuz i like tailcoats and Silver is a kinda fancy future boy in my head so y’know. All in all, Silver was entirely self indulgent in design,, Also heels,,
Blaze
Blaze, again like Amy and most female characters, are fully dressed typically so No changes to the outfit. Her hair was kinda a bitch just cuz i couldn't conceptualize it for some reason. I also just gave her earrings to match the lips and shoes and dot. Shes pretty simple deign wise
Rouge
Rouge, back at it again with the easy given female outfits,,, Gonna be honest don’t rlly remember why i gave the collar piece and straps, maybe just to make the mini cap not look as out of place?? the cap itself was meant as a stand in for her wings. Her hair was a joy, her ears were just so big i had to make something of them and thus buns,, The earring was entirely a choice i made, since i think she also has a thing with the emeralds that like ,, a thing?? idk lore that much aah i’m still learning. All in all she is a babe tho
Knuckles
His hair felt very much like it needed to be dread?? So there dreads?? that’s all on that matter. TBH the lil crescent on his chest threw me for a loom but i just decide to put it on his shirt like a design.good ol tank top, to show off the gun show. kept his gloves and shoes. the cargo pants just felt very appropriate i don’t actually know why just felt right
Queen Aleena
Very easy gal!! She has so much clothe on her original design!! Her crown was a little bit of a nightmare mostly because of her awful hair i just couldn't figure it out but i managed, aha. She looks pretty by like her normal design tbh
Sonia
Last easy gal design!! My babe from underground!! Her outfit was just ripped straight fro her original design since its all encompassing, i have her some earrings because she deserves it, and I kept her longer hair (?) but she has a little bit of an undercut i think is what that is?? yeah, a babe!!
Manic
Manic,,, Is the only one I was bold enough to actually not put a shirt on,, literally because hes kinda a trash baby?? And he wouldn't care that much?? He does canonically had a vest tho so he kept that. Shorts motif like his bro. Everything else was pretty but teh same tho. Kept the gloves and bracelets, slapped on some earrings, weird scruffy hair what else you want from me yall
