Hello! I'm super late to the aot and aruani train (having just binged the entire show start to finish like 2 months ago over 4 days lmao) but I just gotta say that I really enjoyed your Fort Salta series! Annie and Armin were legit my favourites already during my first watch of the anime, and it really saddened me to know that it seems alot of people online really hate Annie? Like (no hate on any other characters) but Annie is legit best girl how tf can people hate on her ;-; Anyways, I've been ecstatic since I've found your fics and blog along with many others (shoutout to distortedclouds and flailingkittylover too!!) bc it felt like I finally found my people - good to know I'm not the only one brain-rotting from this show and especially over these two xD I've been dying to talk to someone about this recent discovery of mine since I've started reading the manga though...did you know that Armin has been taller than Annie since even before she was crystalized?? In the anime he's like the shortest person pre-timeskip beside Historia, but turns out it's not the case in the manga! In volume 8 when Armin confronts Annie in Stohess, he's clearly drawn to be slightly taller than her in the scene - I thought it was just a perspective error, but it's drawn that way over multiple pages so it's definitely intended! Makes the whole height/size difference thing even more adorable omg ;-;

I agree that while it's very sad seeing the Annie haters, it's best to ignore them. They may have their reasons or not (tho tbh, those of us in the Annie/AruAni fandom would say they just have a very poor or nil understanding of her character). Annie's an extremely well written character honestly; @distortedclouds and I once had this conversation where she was talking about how Isayama managed to give Annie flawless character development in spite of portraying her as the non-typical badass female (in that she doesn't have huge, heroic ambitions and etc) - and I agreed wholeheartedly. Annie's very strong and lethal, but in her vulnerability and desire to be loved and wanted, I think we can all see a bit of ourselves.

Wait I digressed xD My point: Annie's best girl, and we stay away from the haters and stick to worshipping her. Strengthening the Temple of Annie Leonhardt must be our ultimate goal.

I would go on a rant about Armin too being the best, bestest, bestestest boy, and of our other goal of strengthening the Temple of Armin Arlert, but that is for another post, maybe xD

Regarding the height difference! I believe it's an established fact that Armin has always been taller than Annie, right from the beginning. If I remember right, the official Character Guidebook (2014) which was based on the first 11 volumes of the manga, listed Armin as 163cms while Annie was 153. While he's one of the shortest among the boys in general (and post-timeskip he's taller than Levi), he's been at least a whole head taller than Annie ever since they joined the military. Post timeskip, he's 169cms while Annie remains apparently unchanged, so the gap is larger, and likely to grow an inch or two more (since he's only 19). Anyway, yes it's fucking cute, and don't get me started on the size difference 🫠🫠🫠

I just finished the Green Creek series by TJ Klune and the brain rot is unreal. I binged all four books in a week and have been screaming the whole time. I didn’t think my heart could take it so I’m word vomiting here because I may explode otherwise. SPOILERS FOR BROTHERSONG AHEAD!!!!

I thought the end was so good and so perfect for the series. This whole time there’s like this theme of history repeating itself and the consequences of the choices you make; specifically how your actions affect others. We see all the characters make decisions and make mistakes and have to come to terms with what they’ve done.

The culmination of this is obviously the final battle, which I feel really ended the books well. Not all series have satisfactory endings, but imo Greek Creek absolutely does.

For a second I thought Klune was gonna kill Ox and I was going to scream! Because how could history be repeating itself! How could they not escape fate! I was so scared. Because in a series about choices, you know Ox would never chose to leave his pack, leave Joe, but you also know he Would (just like his mother and his alpha) if he thought it would save the rest of his pack. Throughout the series Ox always chooses his pack and always places the pack above himself because he’s just Ox and the people around him are the most precious parts of his life.

Then there’s Joe. Joe, who goes out of his way to save an injured bird and doesn’t believe in leaving anyone behind. Joe, who never really wanted to be an Alpha, let alone alpha of all. Who tore his own heart out, separated himself from his tether and almost became feral because he thought it’s what Ox wanted. Who was told by a beast that his family wouldn’t chose him, that no one would. This little boy with the world on his shoulders and didn’t choose any of it. Probably wouldn’t have chosen it but was tied to it because of his name and what he thought he had to do for his pack to want to choose him. One of Joe Bennett’s only choices that he makes just for himself is being with Ox.

That’s why it’s so perfect that the way to end the cycle of mistakes and death (a lot of them caused by doing what’s expected instead of what they’d choose for themselves) is for Joe to make his own choice about what he wants for his life. He wants Ox and his pack to be whole, not be in charge of everyone else. In contrast to the antagonists, he isn’t concerned with gaining/keeping power, but gives up some of his control to keep the people he loves safe. He gets to let go of some of the pressure and the things he doesn’t want to keep what he does choose: love and family.

Sharkface struggles connecting with others due to his ideals, often because of his motives.

There's no hope for you if you're a freelancer...

It's either death or something worse-

Sharkface primarily wants to kill Carolina and Wash.

This is because of their confrontation in the past.

His original goal was to kill you.

But for some unforseen reason, he enjoys torturing you mentally and physically.

There's times he'll seek you out to vent all of his freelancer rage onto.

Sharkface may even hate you more than other freelancers.

This is because he simultaneously hates you and loves you.

He loves to break you... he wants to make you a toy.

Yet he can't kill you like he should be doing.

Unlike Mark Temple, Sharkface is not delusional enough to just love you.

He doesn't bother trying to pretend you've done nothing wrong.

No, he'd like to make a freelancer darling suffer, alone.

With only him there to greet your vision.

If he can't kill you then he'll just break you.

As you can tell, Sharkface and a freelancer darling is a troublesome pair.

This is because you'll primarily face his wrath as his form of love.

He hates that he loves you...

So he'll make you pay for everything.

He'd use his obsession towards you to break you.

There's times where you and him will straight up fight.

Usually when you attempt escape/his death.

Sharkface doesn't mind burning you, either.

Any pain you inflict he either doesn't register or he laughs it off.

Then there's uncharacteristic times he'll be affectionate to lure you in.

He'll take off his helm and kiss you, wanting to keep you on your toes.

He loves your struggle.

You yourself aren't even sure if he hates or loves you.

Perhaps he doesn't know either.

Sharkface is much more violent with his darling as a freelancer.

He'll lock you up, he'll injure you, he'll brand you, he'll show you who you submit to.

Sharkface is obsessed with you and the idea of breaking you.

Oh the smug look on his face when he shows Carolina and Wash what he's done to you.

He's stripped you of your armor, broken you mentally, now all you know is him.

If anything to him it will be the ultimate revenge to reveal you before killing them.

Then he'll get to keep you as his own personal toy...

He'll never forgive you for what you've done to him.

I think sometimes people project the Simpsons to be better than it is.

There's a whole argument of Good Simpsons episodes and seasons and Bad Simpsons episodes and seasons.

Some people say its getting better, some people hate that the show is so modern.

But like, I don't think its ever changed that much.

Don't get me wrong, I know there are definite writing changes in the different seasons, some are definitely better constructed or sillier or closer to the humor of the original seasons, but for the most part its the same.

People complain about stupid humor, but honestly, most of the early seasons have dumb humor too, there may be fewer of those brilliantly crafted jokes that people hold dear to their hearts, but the newer seasons have the same amount of stupid humor as the old ones. It's a show with stupid and dirty humor.

Like when I think of the things that make The Simpsons, The Simpsons to me I think of 'pushing limits' 'taking risks' 'making parodies' 'heartfelt/sincere storylines' 'making fun of itself' And every season has done these things. and again, some better than others, but I don't think that's only defined by the season or the show runner.

The early seasons had horrible episodes imo, and really it comes down to the ever subjective matter of taste.

I personally think that every season has some merit and enjoy watching them. That may just be because of my current brain-rot/hyperfixation/special interest in binging the entire series.

I also think that every season has had haters. I mean, that's why we have comic book guy right?

Hi, may I ask a random question? Has your blog ever focused on Supernatural? Like, have you ever had a Supernatural phase? Or a viral Supernatural post? Because for some reason whenever you pop up, I always associate you with Supernatural but I looked at your blog as well as AO3 and there's nothing Supernatural-related so now I feel like I'm having a fever dream 😂

Haha, yes.

I got really into Supernatural s1-5 (everyone knows the series ended after s5) at the tail-end of 2013. I binged a lot of it because I was avoiding writing college applications.

I will maintain to my dying breath that it was a good show. Maybe it's the nostalgia maybe it's the "I was a teenager with unrefined taste" maybe it's the binging something so quickly it rots your brain. But it was good, I swear.

Sometimes at random on a whim I'll rewatch the season 2 finale. You know why? Because it fucks. Because it's good. It's like inserting a stand mixer into my brain and turning it on.

The one I never shut up about and am adapting part of into a comic because it’s just that GOOD. :’’’D Light and L get married in front of Watari and Light’s family back at the Whammy orphanage in England. A melancholy yet painfully sweet tale as Light and L reminisce on their history together while getting ready for the ceremony, and their first night together afterwards. Single-handedly sold me on Kira being intrinsically part of Light to boot.

“the forest holds strange creatures” by @translightyagami (I’m sorryyyyyyy I just love your stuff)

An AU where Light’s a paranormal researcher and L’s a reclusive cryptid living in the forest next to a small town. The writing has a fairytale feel to it, and the romance is so gentle. Light’s bunking at Whammy’s small little house, and Near and Mello are there as little kids pestering Light. It’s ADORABLE. Beyond Birthday also shows up in one of the extra chapters as a creepy cashier at a thrift shop for double the fun!

"Sickness” by BlueberryValentine (more fics on their fanfiction.net account!)

The ultimate hurt/comfort + fluff + angst with a happy ending fic. The first fic I read to get back into lawlight a couple months back! Canon divergence starting during the Yotsuba arc. Light is diagnosed with terminal brain cancer while still under investigation. L has to take care of him, and somewhere along the way they fall in love. It carved out a chunk of my heart but luckily filled it back up with a sweet sort of aching.

“Seeking His Hand” by magic__mind

Historical regency AU! L is a rich nobleman courting Light, a humble farm boy, for his hand in marriage. One of the most romantic pieces of literature that I have ever come across. The prose is pure poetry, and their love so pure! This one also has a special place in my heart for its portrayal of Misa! She’s A)a spy who helps L on his cases, B)totally removed from her co-dependence for Light, C)the bubbly badass she was always meant to be. 100/10 worth the read!

The “Resurrections” Series by Shadow_of_Quill

A modern Orpheus and Euridice story, wherein Light’s spirit leads L back from Hades while he’s still Kira. L is thereby present for the confrontation at the warehouse. Believing that any trace of Light is lost in the man, he executes him right then and there. However, this was a grave mistake, and Light’s soul won’t be as easily revived. (spoilers, they’re both fine in the end) ******* THIS ONE ALSO INCLUDES YAGAMI SIBLING HIJINKS. Sayu plays a HUGE role in bringing Light back!

“Is This The Way It Ends Now?” by Seastar98

The one that checks off ALL the above three boxes!! A “characters watch their own show” fic, wherein the gang receives a mysterious DVD in the middle of the Yotsuba arc. Horrified by what’s to come, Light and L work to make sure their future is brighter than the one they witness. They bring in all three heirs to watch with ‘em, everyone gets character development, and Sayu comes in like black panther in endgame yet again to bring Light back from the darkness! Ryuk pops up in the end and the epilogue and he’s great. The ultimate and most direct fix-it you’re ever gonna get.

“From the Same Star” by Nilahxapiel

This is my only pure “Ryuk Shenanigans” fic, and it’s really really sad :’’’D A short but sweet one-shot wherein Ryuk traverses multiple dimensions, dropping the Death Note at Light’s feet each time. Light and L were always fated to clash, and it’s just as heartbreaking every time.

“Primitive Liars” by Nilahxapiel

This one’s super popular in the fandom for a reason! The only omegaverse fic that I’ve liked! The A/B/O dynamics and their affect on society are super well developed, and the writer manages to keep L and Light very in character while still developing their budding romance in a believable way. This is an AU where somebody else is Kira, and Light’s genuinely helping L and the task force hunt him down. ***** Naomi Misora lives, the heirs come in, and Sayu actually hops aboard the task force!!! DUDE. BRILLIANT. I also just love the exploration of gender and identity that the author weaves in. Lots of LGBTQ rep!

“and indeed there will be time” by lawlietismyfavorite

The ultimate soulmate AU. People grow to be 18, then stop aging until they meet their one. L is the greatest detective of not only this century, but of six centuries. And then there's Light. (taken straight from the description!) The prose is absolutely breathtaking; like walking through a dream. Can not recommend this fic enough! It’s got my head up in the clouds and looking towards the stars!

“K” by Dlvvanzor

AU where Light’s a Whammy with the moniker ‘K.’ He and L grow up together along with kiddos covering the rest of the alphabet. A murder-mystery-thriller on top of the romance featuring Beyond Birthday as a main character! Light’s a pathological liar and L’s super into it. They’re the top students at Whammy’s and are tasked with solving a string of homicides happening RIGHT AT THE ORPHANAGE (guess who dunnit). It had me on the edge of my seat, and I binged the whole thing in two days.

“Change of Circumstances” by wordbombs

Another AU where Light’s a whammy! It’s just a one-shot though, but one of my all time faves!!! I’ve gone back and reread it so many times and drew some stuff for it a couple weeks back. Much more light-hearted than “K”, Light arrives at the orphanage at age four and meets an eleven year old L, and from there they grow up together and fall in love (the age difference is handled really well, L’s not physically present for a lot of Light’s childhood and they bond on a platonic level first). It’s one of the healthiest relationship dynamics that I’ve seen for these two, which is honestly such a breath of fresh air. Matt, Mello, and Near are there too in the background!

“Dial K for Kira” by @kiranatrix

“Light needs some easy money to finance his Kira plans, and notices there’s a big demand for Kira roleplay phone sex. So he figures, “Why not? Pretty sure I’ll be convincing.”He raises some fast cash and plans to shut the whole thing down and get back to writing names, until he gets a request from somebody who wants to “roleplay” as L....“

“Dance with Me” and “Birthday Note” by @dotti55fanfiction

These are both one-shots so I’m putting ‘em together! Absolutely adorable tooth-rotting fluff!! “Dance with Me” has Light and L going to a club, while “Birthday Note” features L trying to think of the best present for Light. The dictionary definition of “warm fuzzies.” (Dotti ilu, I still gotta find time to read your longer works)

“you’re a wasp nest” by raisuki (inthegripofahurricane)

Blind!Light AU! Light and L are both college students who meet when Sayu dares L to break into her house. Yagami sibling hijinksssss! Their quippy dialogue is adorable and it’s just a fun time watching them flirt.

Did anyone else have mixed feelings about Wizards? (spoilers)

Beyond however you feel about what happened to Jim.

Like I’m not going to sit here and pretend like I didn’t just binge the whole season in one sitting and ugly cry but

Some thoughts, some critiques, and some shameless gushing. Welcome to my TedTalk.

Soooooo I may be a lil biased because I think Trollhunters set a bar for character development and world building in the series that the following seasons just haven’t measured up to. There was so much love and nuance put into that world and every relationship in it. It’s the arc of this whole show that I find the most compelling, and that I keep coming back to. Of course there are flaws. Of course Claire is a Mary Sue. The lore is still top notch.

Which brings me to Wizards.

The Good!

-Spirit!Jim Pacing over Killahead, repeating his duties as a Trollhunter, and the responsibility he feels for the people he loves. Good lord. The despair. The resignation. They really nailed just how tired and defeated this boy must be.

-MY BOYS. Okayokayokay I’m an unabashed ho for the Galadribros but honestly every scene with them made me so happy. I had my fingers crossed that Dictatious would make an appearance but I was not expecting him to get as much screen time as he did! He and Blink have a single brain cell to split between them and I live for it. They made Dictatious out to be much bolder than I would ever have expected. It was inevitable but I was still so heartbroken when he got sucked into the Darklands, especially because the last scene we had with him was him getting carried away by goblins like a fucking goober.

-GENERAL AAARRRGGGHH!!! OH MY GOD WHAT A CHONK. WHAT A LAD. His redemption arc was hella rushed and a little clumsy (much like everything else in Wizards but I’ll get to that) but seeing those lil tender moments between him and Blinky? MY HEART.

-Dragon Dad. Quality character design. Archie’s reasoning for lying about who he is is kinda bullshit

- Hi Angor Rot so nice of you to stop by.

The Everything Else

-Everything felt so??rushed and disorganized??? and any lore that didn’t already exist from previous seasons felt so flimsy. The Arcane Order and their ooky spooky skull ship? The Genesis Seals, whatever those are? Literally everything involving the forest nymph and why she was there? I don’t mind being left with questions and leaving things up to interpretation, that’s part of the fun of any adventure, but this just seemed like clumsy writing.

-ToA isn’t new to continuity errors but like... The Amulet existed before Deya? It just seems so weird to me that Wizards established Deya as the first Trollhunter when there ARE SO MANY OTHER CANONICAL TROLLHUNTERS BEFORE HER. UNKAR WAS A RUNNING JOKE FOR THE WHOLE SERIES.

-Speaking of where was Kanjigar? We see Draal for about two seconds and none of the gang is going to acknowledge seeing their dead friend again?

-”Without the Amulet, can I even be the Trollhunter anymore?” Jimothy my darling again there was an entire episode establishing that YES. YES YOU CAN.

-WHY IS TOBY NO LONGER A PART OF TEAM TROLLHUNTERS. WHERE WAS STRICKLER. WHY HAS JIM NOT STOPPED IN TO SAY HELLO TO HIS MOTHER.

- What the fuck was Douxie doing for the past 900 years why do we not get any character development for him beyond what purpose he serves in relation to Merlin/Morgana/Team Trollhunters.

- Are we never going to find out what happened to Jim and the rest of the trolls on their way to New Jersey? It seemed like they were going to build it up so much when we caught a glimpse of them in 3Below but in Wizards they just show up and... Jim’s in a crystal and Blinky’s all fucked up and despite the former being a major plot point we get almost no information on how either of them got into this state? Where are the other trolls? Wasn’t Merlin with them? You could argue that he pulled some wizard shit to get back to Arcadia but that whole chunk of time is never addressed! Why even have it?

- Man I know y’all hate Merlin but he was a really compelling asshole and this season was just so reductive for his whole character. He was much more interesting when he was a gross creep who didn’t give a fuck about anyone. The forced father/son relationship they tried to establish between him and Douxie felt so weird

- I thought they were going to tie together literally any of the plot points of 3Below but outside of Krel showing up for about two sentences it’s never addressed. 3Below ended with the acknowledgement that Trolls and Aliens have some history, and somehow Seklos and Gaylen are involved in a much bigger picture, I can only hope that the movie ties it in somehow.

- I thought Morgana creating the first changelings was going to be a much bigger deal, I was surprised by how anticlimactic it was. The creature design was super dope though, that fight was so fun to watch.

Castlevania (Just finished watching it and it’s amazing! I was throughly impressed with the story and all the characters. Trevor, Alucard, and Sypha were just so refreshing and fun to watch. They all have great chemistry and bounce off each other well. Loved seeing all the vampire diversity too.)

Castlevania Nocturne (OMG!! What a way to start a first season! Gosh I can’t wait for the second season! We got even more diversity and dope magic fights. Still great chemistry between the characters. Also, how dare they end season one like that! I need season 2 as soon as possible! Ahhh!!!)

Transformers (AUTOBOTS ROLL OUT!! I have had *major* transformers brain for the past month now. I finished reading through mtmte and lost light and cried my eyes out😭 I’ve rewatched my beloved show transformers prime and got to watch shows I hadn’t watched yet such as rescue bots, transformers animated, and I even managed to watch some of the cyberverse show. I watched season one of robots in disguise too and they did Bumblebee and Optimus so dirty!😭 Anyways, I’m deep in my transformers phase and I don’t plan to leave anytime soon🩵)

What’s New on Shudder Canada?

Being a horror fan in Canadaland, or fan of any film genre, really, can certainly have its frustrating moments when it comes to streaming.

Canada, like every country, has rights issues as to which films can be streamed on which platform. Want to watch a rad 80s horror flick? That’s easy… it’s either on Shudder, Netflix, Prime, Crave, Tubi, Apple, VOD or on any of the kajillion other 21st century binge-factories.

But to make things even more nerve-wracking, because you’re in Canada, not every service has the same film and tv library as our neighbours in the States, or the UK, or Japan, or… well, you get the idea.

In some cases the libraries are massively truncated-- but that’s sadly just how rights issues work. Sure, I can talk about actually buying the film, or going to a library in crappy weather during Covid-times. Others will talk about the less savoury methods of not supporting the arts, or getting a VPN-- but fuck that, I’ll save that for those overly long and annoying ads sponsored by Youtube stars.

I’m just gonna flat out say it… there’s a lot of good stuff on there already. And a lot of that stuff is exclusive to your region. Yes, that’s right, Canada, you got some awesome stuff on SHUDDER this month that your neighbours in the south don’t have access to!

Here’s a peek at movies coming this month to SHUDDER that are definitely worth a look AND exclusive to CANADA.

UNDER THE SKIN (2013) is very weird and minimal slow-burn with Scarlett Johansson as a mysterious entity preying on Scottish men.

It’s very bizarre with wonderfully trippy visuals and a fantastic unnerving score. It’s indie-as-fuck and it’s one of those you either love or hate. A lot of it was filmed with hidden cameras and non-actors and it’s got this otherworldly vibe to it. It’s unsettling and beautiful and a great example of some of that early 2010s horror that was getting critical acclaim and confusing purists. You can stream this one right now.

On the topic of trippy, and if psychedelic Giallo throwbacks is your thing, THE STRANGE COLOUR OF YOUR BODY’S TEARS (2013) is a weird visual delight.

Directed by a husband and wife duo, this Belgian Neo-Giallo, L'étrange couleur des larmes de ton corps, has a very film noir plot of “a man seeking the whereabouts of his missing wife, only to become entangled in a complicated web of lies and murder”.

I had to look that up (thanks, wiki!). Yeah, despite having watched this a few years back, the plot didn’t stand out, but oh, did it ever look pretty! So if you’re not looking for much of a sensical story, but feel like watching an odd, sexy acid flashback tribute to 70s Italian horror, this one’s worth a look. This one’s coming on the 9th!

What’s that Canada? You want more traditional HORROR in your Shudder? I’m writing about too many pretentious art films, you say? Well, you’re in luck, because on February the 22nd, V/H/S 2 (2013) and V/H/S: VIRAL (2014) hit your streaming box!

The V/H/S film series was a fun, found footage anthology collection that featured a lot of the big names of horror & genre flicks weaving creepy shorts and spooky tales. It’s a solid trio. You don’t even need to watch them in order. Heck, you don’t even need to really watch the segments in order, but hey, however you watch stuff is your business. But I digress...

These ones in particular run the gamut between zany and nerve-wracking. Some are brutal as hell, and some are less than good than others, but alas that’s the rule of Horror Anthologies: Your mileage may vary!

One of the standouts in V/H/S 2 is the intense cult story “Safe Haven” by Timo Tjahjanto (KILLERS, HEADSHOT and Gareth Huw Evans (THE RAID & RAID 2). This one is as brutal and high octane as their solo efforts and then it takes an even more sinister turn. It’s like three stories in one. Such a good ride.

V/H/S/ 2 also has “Slumber Party Alien Abduction” by Jason Eisener (HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN). This one is as oddball and freaky as they get. It’s like GOONIES meets X-FILES, but even weirder. I miss that guy.

Meanwhile, V/H/S: VIRAL has the off-the-wall and awesome WTFery of “Parallel Monsters” by Nacho Vigalondo (TIME CRIMES, COLOSSAL). If you’re a fan of his you MUST watch that one. Hell, if you aren’t you should watch that one and the rest of his films and shorts.

As far as February Shudder goes, that’s just the Canada Exclusives. We’re all getting friggin’ BASKETCASE (1982)! That not enough? you and your American pals can both witness Nic Cage being weird in an 80s vampire flick. As well as a heap of Shudder Originals and shockingly good times. It’s a good month to keep spooky season going.

Team Mustang Headcannons

Figured I’d do a master list of the Headcannons I’ve been cooking up for awhile now. Some are new, some are old, some I may very well be making up on the spot.

Regardless of where they came from, we’re posting them now, so here we go!

- Roy is in fact attracted to Riza, but has decided to put his feelings aside until he accomplishes his goal. Not just because of the fraternization laws bing in place, but also out of fear of it not working out between them and ruining their friendship.

- Once Armstrong becomes an official member of Team Mustang, he and Breda end up becoming close friends, usually bonding over their love of muscles.

- Havoc is more or less in a one-sided rivalry with Roy over women. Roy could really care less, though. In fact, half of the time, he barely remembers their so called “rivalry” until Havoc brings it up.

- While Havoc does miss Roy once he leaves for the north, he takes pride in considering himself the new office stud. Of course, his luck with women is still the same with or without Roy, but he does manage to find a decent girlfriend or two in the two years between the end of the series and Shamballa, they just didn’t work out.

- When she met him at the academy, Riza was initially put off by Roy’s showboating and egotism. it really wasn’t until he actually started being nice to her and showing his more compassionate side around her that she opened up to him.

- In fact, her opinion about Roy started to change when he came and gave her his condolences for her mother. He told her that she was lucky to have a parent for so long, since his own died in a car crash when he was very young, leaving him an orphan. When she looked into his eyes, she realized that he was being sincere and decided to let him sit and chat with her. Their initial bond sprung from tragedy.

- Riza will often bring in Black Hayate to work so that he and Feury can be together.

- Feury and Riza will usually go out for lunch on their days off (or whenever their days off match up) and chat about how the work week went.

- Havoc and Breda can’t help but lightly tease Feury about his lack of experience with women whenever the topic comes up, often accusing him of being a virgin. Feury’s response is always “I keep telling you people, I’ve been with women, before!”

- Riza likes to read what is essentially the Amestris equivalent of fantasy romance/young adult novels. Of course, being an adult, she realizes how corny they are, but enjoys them anyway.

- Roy often teases Riza for enjoying such books, saying that she’ll rot her brain if she keeps reading them. Riza will often shut him up by reminding him that there’s nothing wrong with a woman enjoying a little bit of fantasy. Once they start dating, however, Roy gets the last laugh by pointing out she’s been reading a lot more of those since they became an item.

- Feury is actually in love with Riza, but becomes aware fairly quickly of her obvious affection for Roy. While this saddens him, he never quite feels vindictive enough to pursue her and make her forget about her love, instead wanting to help her and watch her be happy.

- Riza thinks of Feury as the little brother she never had (she has three older brothers), making her overprotective of him at times. Feury is naturally embarrassed by this, but is too nice to say anything about it.

- Roy could never quite explain what made him specialize in fire based alchemy, the only thing he ever said to Riza and Hughes about it is that as a child, he always found fire itself to be soothing.

- Garcia reveals to Roy and Riza years later that Hughes planned on roasting Roy at his own wedding whenever it happened. He even had a speech prepared and everything.

- Havoc and Roy have been friends since they firs joined the academy.

- Hughes would sometimes develop his endless pictures of Elyssia in the family bathroom (using it as a dark room), much to the behest of his wife.

- Riza grew up as the only daughter of a wealthy military general, her mom and her three older brothers. She was a gun prodigy since early childhood and decided to join the military for that reason and that reason alone.

- While Riza’s mom never really approved of her daughter’s life choices (it often frustrated the misses that her one and only daughter was never really into girly things other than clothing and the occasional spa day), she never the less supported her decision to enlist in the military. Riza, too enjoyed her mom’s company very much, and was quite devastated when she suddenly died.

- Working late hours most of the time, Roy and Riza will often save Date Night for the weekend and spend their evenings together in one of their apartments (usually Roy’s since his is closer to work).

- Once Roy is reinstated as Colonel, Team Mustang as a whole becomes more involved with the police, often helping them to take on cases the police can’t solve, or involve alchemists.

- Roy in his younger days was a lot more like Ed; overly prideful and ignorant of how the world is, but still quite optimistic about the future and protecting his country. Riza remembers those days, and will often chuckle at Ed, commenting on how much he sounds like the Colonel in his youth. Of course, Ed doesn’t understand what she means, but it doesn’t matter; it’s her own little secret.

- Havoc is openly supportive of Roy and Riza becoming a couple, if not solely because it’ll increase his chances of getting a date if the Colonel finally as a permanent girlfriend.

- Feury actually did visit Roy up in the north at one point, trying desperately to convince to come back for Riza. Still in his depressed state and believing he doesn’t deserve her, Roy tries convincing his former subordinate that he should just focus on making Riza his now. Feury only responds “That won’t do, Sir...She only wants you...”

- While Roy still hates doing paperwork, he becomes a bit more efficient at doing it once he becomes a Colonel, again. Though the only reason is because he’d rather spend the evenings with Riza than be stuck in an office all night unless he absolutely has to.
