Sittings in the Masajid
‘Umar ibn ‘Abdul ‘Azeez (rahimahullah) wrote in his instructions:
Tell the people of knowledge to spread knowledge in the masajid, for the Sunnah had been deadened!
[aj-Jami’ li Akhlaq, ar-Rawi (rahimahullah), 1202]
‘Ali Ibn Abi Talib (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) said:
The masajid are the sittings of the Prophets, and a protection from shaytan

Do not post yourself reading books or even attending the masajid;

never imagined that my child's smile could feel so bittersweet, as i mourn the lost smiles of the children of gaza.
never imagined that a spontaneous hug and kiss from my child could feel so bittersweet, as i mourn the moms of gaza weeping over their martyred children.
never imagined that sharing a meal with my loved ones could feel so bittersweet, as i mourn the scarcity of food and clean water in gaza.
never imagined that the things i was complaining about just a few weeks ago could feel so inconsequential, as i mourn the bombing of homes, hospitals, schools, masajid, and churches in gaza.
never imagined that feeling safe and secure in my own home could feel so bittersweet, as i mourn the helpless, defenceless, homeless, injured, and martyred people of gaza.

THE OLDEST UNIVERSITIES IN THE WORLD
Contrary to what many would have expected, the oldest universities in the world are located in Africa, not in ancient Greece or Europe, a study has revealed. Going by the results of the research, the foundation for the US first university was laid as late as in 1636 while the oldest university in Europe, the University of Bologna in Italy was founded in 1088 years after Africa had established universities, followed by the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, which was founded in 1096. According to the research by Erudera, the oldest universities in the world are located in Egypt, Morocco and Mali respectively.
The Kemetic temple universities
The libraries of Kemet were not only places of archives, sacred words, papyrus manufacturing, and the like, they were also centers of learning, that combined the functions of their libraries and temples into universities.Hence Kemet became a land of temples, libraries, and universities. As
a result, the "temple-library-university" became the key center of ancient Kemetic intellectual
and spiritual activity. Ancient Kemetic temples like Waset and Ipet Isut are the oldest universities on planet earth. The Temple of Waset is the world's first university and was built during the reign of Pharaoh Amenhotep 111 in the XV111 Dynasty, 1405-1370 B.C. while the Ipet Isut temple was built during the reign of Senusert I of the 12th dynasty, who ruled from 1971-1926 BC.
Al-Qarawiyyin University, Morocco (859 CE - Present)
The second oldest standing university on earth is in Morocco. Known as Al-Qarawiyyin, the university was founded by a young princess in 859 A.D. by Tunisian-born Fatima al-Fihri in Morocco’s Fez. According to the United Nations, Guinness World Records, Manchester University Press and other credible sources, al-Qarawiyyin is the oldest university of the world still in use today.
Timbuktu University Mali (989 CE – Present)
The University ofTimbuktu is a collective term for the teaching associated with three mosques in the city of Timbuktu in what is now Mali: the masajid (mosques) of Sankore, Djinguereber, and Sidi Yahya. This third oldest University in the world is one of three ancient centres of learning located in Timbuktu, Mali. It was officially established in 13BC and it prospered and became a very significant seat of learning in the world, especially under the reign of Mansa Musa (1307-1332) and the Askia Dynasty (1493-1591). The University of Sankore has its roots in the Sankore Mosque which was founded in 989 ADby Al-Qadi Aqib ibn Mahmud ibn Umar, the Supreme Judge of Timbuktu.’ At its peak, long before Europeans built universities, the university at Timbuktu had an average attendance of around 25 000 students within a city of around 100 000 people.
All of the universities of Timbuktu predate Islam and were originally learning centers for Dogon and Meroitic sciences, which flourished throughout the Sahel. Islam did not introduce universities to Timbuktu, Islam appropriated the indigenous African universities already in Timbuktu (as well as numerous other ancient African cities) and turned them into masjids. The Timbuktu Meroitic universities were appropriated into masjids in 989 ce. This is over 1,200 years after the original university was established.
However, despite the religious shift of the universities, their architectural heritage remains faithful to the indigenous pre-Islamic Sahelian adobe architecture.

A group of Hindus, led by Varanasi District Magistrate S Rajalingam, prayed inside the Gyanvapi mosque complex on Wednesday night, hours after a district court passed a direction allowing them to do so.
On Wednesday evening, Rajalingam along with other government officials, entered the mosque complex and spent nearly two hours inside the complex.
The Varanasi court allowed Hindus to offer prayers in the sealed basement of the mosque complex after an Archaeological Survey of India report claimed that a Hindu temple that existed at the site was destroyed in the 17th Century and built over.
The court ordered that the arrangements for Hindu prayers, including the removal of barricades, be completed within a week. The prayers should be conducted by priests of the neighbouring Kashi Vishwanath temple, the court ordered.
“Compliance with the court order was ensured on Wednesday night when a priest arranged by the Kashi Vishwanath temple trust performed the Shayan Arti of the deities inside the southern cellar. A gate was also installed after cutting steel grills near the southern cellar doors,” Rajalingam said, reported The Times of India.
On the same day Hindus conducted prayer inside the mosque, workers of the Hindutva group Rashtriya Hindu Dal were seen vandalising signboards in the area, pasting the words “mandir” and “temple” on a sign showing the way to the Gyanvapi mosque.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court asked the Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Committee to approach the Allahabad High Court against the Varanasi district court’s order allowing the prayers inside the mosque complex.

One thing that the muslim community doesn't understand clearly even with the current situation in Gaza is that this whole Israeli, American, and European axis of evil has only one goal, continued colonization of the world. They do it in two ways, one militarily (think NATO), and other with propaganda. Democracy, Nationalism, Liberalism, Feminism, they are all tools for poisoning the thoughts of youths in the muslim world. There has never been a more effective propaganda machine than hollywood and it is a pity that the current generation of muslim youth consumes it 24x7. It takes just a moment of reflection to understand that if you are continuously exposed to something, your heart and mind starts to lose the sensitivity to it. Similarly, we are losing sensitivity against sins that would destroy the fabric of our society and we are totally unaware of it. Wallah, they do much more damage with their cultural crusade than with their military crusade. Now, think about it. Should we, muslims, have subscription of Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO, Spotify, etc.?
Another very common trend is for muslim youths to march under the banners of Liberalism, Feminism, etc. Has Allah not said that we would be treated as those under whose flag we stay in duniyah? Isn't it a tragedy that our youth thinks it's okay to align with western values when those same western countries rejoice seeing Palestinian children being killed in their cribs and reject ceasefire motions because the motion didn't "condemn" Hamas enough? All *ism are tools to destroy Islam and whoever stands under those banners are surely not one of us. There is no doubt in that.
This war against injustice wouldn't end any soon. The fact is - muslims today are so corrupt in their heart with desire of duniyah that they don't have what it takes to lead the world out of this darkness. Our leaders are western allies and our youth, very much westernised. Unless we have truly muslim, Allah fearing leadership among us, accompanied with pious youth, muslims around the world would continue to be persecuted. And we all would bear the responsibility for every drop of blood dripping from Palestinian martyrs and every broken wall of masajid in India.
I agree with every word you’ve said. It is an extremely painful reality that we are living with. It is gut wrenching to watch so much bloodshed and suffering of our beloved brothers, sisters, children and elders in Palestine and the muslim people in power are too busy licking the boots of West. May Allah forgive us and guide us to be better muslims and grant us leaders who are brave and courageous and free from the greed of this dunya, who don’t think twice before helping a Muslim in need no matter which part of the world it is. Ameen

That last reblog got me thinking.
I admire the masajid with soaring architecture, high domes and gorgeously intricate decoration, colored tile and pillars and wide open spaces.
But the masajid that really have my heart are the tiny humble ones. The ones built to serve a small community, or which started life as a house or a Presbyterian church. The ones where the carpets are a little worn, but scrupulously clean, with duct tape marking the rows. The ones that fill up every night in Ramadan with families sharing dates and milk, potluck dinners, and children running off to find their friends. That smell like lingering incense. That feel like home.
