Finally finished the world's weirdest bonnet!
aka the 'Mary Sunhat'
I'm quite happy with it but there's a few things I'd do differently next time:
Put wire in the brim. I used decovil as stabilizer and it's floppier than I would like. Or perhaps I'll try buckram
reposition the snaps. The snaps are placed in such a way that the back overlap gapes quite a bit. I fixed it by placing adding a second pair of snaps on this one
probably size down a bit
find a way to actually make this stay on my head? this straps aren't doing anything tbh!
But isn't it cute?!?!

Just a small w-i-p this week:
The world's weirdest bonnet?!
That's possibly because the pattern is actually for a vintage sun hat! the pattern is by Mary Nishimuta.
This is what the finished product should look like:

These things are awesome! They are reversible (although mine won't be) and can be stored flat or rolled up! A convenience you don't get with regular lolita bonnets!
So I really couldn't stop thinking about turning this into a lolita-style bonnet so that's what I'm trying to do.
Luckily this dress still needed a bonnet (and I had all the materials for that on hand):
