Maybe I'm reading too deep into this but here goes.

I kept wondering why Steven was hissing and shaking his hand every time he hit or punched something (punching Marc, fighting on Taweret's boat) and then I remembered this scene. Marc hurt their right hand punching a mirror.

What if the old Pigeon didn't heal this particular injury because it's not inflicted "in the line of duty"??

Which brings me to when Marc punches Steven for kissing Layla.

With the left hand.
