Marlene was hidden with her sexuality. She didn't out right say it because she felt ashamed for so long but then it just didn't really matter. She didn't see a point in telling people

Everyone assumed she was with one of the quidditch boys since she was always near them. They didn't ask her questions or tease her because she always seemed closed off about relationships so...yea. only her closest friends knew tho, she didn't have to make an announcement and they didn't ask. It wasn't a big deal, they just hugged her, gave her a fist bump and moved on.

Anyways Dorcas crushing on Marlene but thinking she's straight and she's doomed in her love life. She always falls for straight girls and she secretly likes that. She doesn't have to commit she can act like she will forever be alone because she keeps liking girls who she can never pursue, or will pursue her. She loses nothing and she can fantasize and never have to actually get attached and possibly get hurt
