Listen, guys, I know girlboss Peach is always a win but. Come on. They went the completely wrong direction of Girlboss. This is ‘generic fantasy female lead #925′. Peach should be ‘I’ll bake a cake and choke you to death with the piping bag’ girlboss.

Like, sure the halbeard scene is cool but. Give her her fucking parasol, and let her go to work like she always does. That thing can canonically hit as hard as Mario and let her fucking fly.

Girlbossing should not be treated as a trade off with the pastel soft femininity she’s known for.

(yes, I know there’s only been one trailer with her in, but the implications of her greater role in the story are there, and also: No amount of good writing will change the fact that they cast a VA I doubt can even hit the right octave to do anything approaching Peach’s canon voice. There’s just too much grit to her voice, it’s downright off-putting from someone who’s supposed to be Peach, if they wanted her for her big name (Idk who she is, but heard she’s popular) they should’ve cast her as Daisy, if anything. (Though. Someone replacing Mario’s VA would have nothing on the absolute shitstorm they’re gonna get if they try to cast Daisy as a big name live action actor-))

Y’all see the new design for Donkey Kong? Couldn’t help but notice it’s much closer to Miyamoto’s original drawings of the character, while maintaining the best elements of Rare’s design. Also it’s very interesting that Miyamoto thought to bring that up, while not mentioning the more obvious redesigns of characters like Mario. That to me implies that the DK change is intended to be his go-to look from here on out. Honestly? I’m all for that! He looks a lot more like the big friendly ape he’s become.

not gonna lie im kind of worried that if the mario movie is even the slightest bit good then people are gonna immediately turn on the sonic movies and decide that they Suck Actually because theyre not exactly like the mario movie. and its not that im against the sonic movies being criticized for anything, there are issues you could point out and i dont even care if you like the sonic movies or not (especially if youre an actual sonic fan and you dislike them from that perspective and arent just hating on them because Sonic Cringe), im just so tired of anything sonic being labelled as irredeemable garbage by The Entire Internet and people constantly trying to compare sonic and mario and acting like sonic is bad just because its not exactly like mario when its not trying to be

New Footage & Thoughts on Pratt’s Performance

Not quite sure why this footage wasn’t in the trailer, but IS being passed around Youtube? Regardless, it’s got me thinking about Pratt’s performance. I will always DEEPLY detest the absolute absence of an apt accent, but I’m starting to wonder if Pratt is to blame for that. With the way he talked about his “Mario voice” early on, the fact that he’s clearly putting effort into the acting here, and reports that he was genuinely upset by the internet’s (very justified) reaction to his performance, it paints the picture of someone who understands the weight of this role. This all leads me to believe that Mario’s ill-fitting voice is mostly due to Illumination. First because they cast Pratt for the role in the first place, and second because they don’t WANT him doing an accent. Either because he can’t do one convincingly (the man’s range is not great), or because the suits think it’s better for mass appeal (this IS Illumination we’re talking about.)

Pratt is still absolutely to blame for accepting the role and not recognizing his limits as a performer, but I’ve decided it isn’t really fair to say he’s just phoning this in. So if we’re going to direct our scorn towards someone, go bully the head of Illumination. They MUST have done some tests with Chris as Mario during storyboarding, and DESPITE him clearly not being the right fit they opted to carry on anyways. Don’t blame the dog, blame the owner.
