Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced land for setting up a separate building for Haryana Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Saturday.
At present, the Punjab and Haryana governments share the Vidhan Sabha complex which is next to the Punjab and Haryana Civil Secretariat in Union Territory of Chandigarh.
The Haryana government had been making this demand for the last one year. Khattar on Saturday took to Twitter to thank the Union Minister for his announcement.
Shah was chairing the Northern Zone Council meeting in Jaipur and Khattar was also one of the participants.
"Fulfilling our demand for separate building of Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced additional land for Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh. I, on behalf of the people of Haryana, thank the home minister," Khattar said in a tweet in Hindi.

In a bold move for its third bid for power, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is shaking up its roster by opting to replace a significant portion of its sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP has unveiled six lists of candidates for just over 400 seats, and notably, approximately a fourth of its sitting MPs, totaling around 100 individuals, have been denied tickets for re-election. New Faces, New Strategies:
Under Modi’s leadership, the BJP is tapping into a diverse pool of candidates. This includes former Chief Ministers and Rajya Sabha MPs, such as Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupender Yadav, and Rajeev Chandrashekhar, who are now vying for Lok Sabha seats. Additionally, past Chief Ministers like Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Manohar Lal Khattar have been fielded, leveraging their established stature in state politics.

A notable feature of the BJP’s strategy is the inclusion of defectors from other parties. Abhay Singh Chautala, the leader of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) commented on the betrayal of his nephew and Jananyak Janata Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala after Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) ended its alliance with JJP and their is a new government formed in Haryana now.
Dhushyant was the deputy Chief Minister of Haryana and after the end of the BJP-JJP alliance, he lost his position in the Manohar Lal Khattar-led government.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Abhay wrote, “Gaddari ho jiski buniyad, anjam-e-minaar hona hi tha barbaad,(A foundation built on betrayal is bound to be destroyed).”
The opposition also targeted the BJP and described that the change in the leadership in Haryana is all scripted.
Congress leader Deepender Hooda in a statement said, “What happened today in Haryana is a well-planned drama that was scripted six months ago. I have been saying on public platforms that BJP and JJP have decided to break their alliance."
BJP’s Nayab Saini took the oath of the Chief Minister of Haryana in the presence of Governor Bandaru Dattatreya in Chandigarh on Tuesday. He presented a letter of support of 48 MLAs to the Governor after the ceremony. As a great political event, Manohar Lal Khattar, the former chief minister of Haryana along with his Cabinet Ministers submitted their resignations on Tuesday to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya.
