I love the idea for the Ramshakle Disciplinary Dorm, all of the designs for the students look great. Though I do wonder what treatmeant Grimm gets, like he's know to spit fire. Would they let Grimm use his magic in the Ramshakle or would they scold him [& take away his Tuna for a week xD]
Also would this dorm have like an affinity for animals/beast taming too? Since Yuu/MC is called a Beast Tamer by Crowley.
Ohh, just the idea that the next Chief has to go out and tame a beast just to be more like Yuu/MC. Or maybe every new student in Ramshakle gets to tame a beast, having to train them & care for their new partner in justice!
-🐉❄ [I'm rather shy so I stay annonymous for now óuó]
Grim has a unique position in the dorm. Officially is office is as the Headwarden's familiar but his ability in magic he is classified as a student a well. Though at some point he is satisfied with being just a familiar who gets the benefits of being in class. He is not very studious.
Grim as a familiar is permitted to use magic but Yuu can now limit it with commands.
Ramshackle is one of the few dorms with beasts because while beast tamers exist they are few and far between.
Naturally, because Yuu officaly contracted Grim they are the top beast tamer around. That leads to infamy. Many people wanted to be chosen to join Ramshackle to train their abilities or become an officer.
Shuo Wang-Lei was a beginner beast tamer with a falcon who he uses as a seeing eye from above for example.
It's not a requirement but it's held in high regard. So much so that there are competitions held to demonstrate their taming abilities. Whenever a first-year shows aptitude for taming Yuu supervises a trial where the student must form a contract with a magical creature that has been captured by a upperclassman. It becomes a tradition, and it is highly respected to both capture and form a contract as a show of house unity as well as proof of strength.
Not every promising student passes the test and Yuu is not a fan of failures when the entire school is watching. Freshmen can try again but upperclassmen must train harder.
The disciplinary forces units usually have at least one tamer to help track escapees and the units have an affinity for dogs.
Hellhounds are a favorite and seeing Yuu with one at their feet has become a vision of her power.
Ramshackle has several devoted breeds of hellhounds with tamers who raise them well. Soul Retriever, Rot-Weiler, and a Danmatian. Not all familiar are dogs though obviously.
To become the housewarden was a task and a half. You must catch your own familiar that can go against Yuu's. There was once a challenger who commanded a hound to attack Yuu only to watch as they pushed the dog's head to the ground it immediately went into submission while shaking.
Yuu's challenge as Headwarden comes from bureaucracy and endless arguments with other dorm leaders.
Tumblr media
"Chief! I caught one of those Heartslabyul guys again. Can I lock them up?" Cooper asked with his eyes begging for Yuu to praise him. His large floppy ears seemed to perk up with hope.
"No, Riddle and I already agreed that he has jurisdiction over his dorm members unless they break a cardinal rule," Yuu said not looking up from their paperwork as they pointed their pin to the wall where the rules were outlined.
No unauthorized battles
No magic used to compel others against their will
No magical contracts can be signed without a third-party to mediate
No undermining academic integrity such as cheating, plagiarizing, and sabotage
No bullying, stalking, harassment, or attempting murder of fellow school mates
No poisoning students
What happens off campus is not considered jurisdiction of the NRC Disciplinary Forces.
If Idia gets kidnapped, go get him. Don't complain just do it. I'm tired of having to file reports on it.
If I catch one of you chasing Tsum Tsums, I'll gut you.
Familiars on duty are working don't bother them. They bite.
Housewardens are not above the law.
Overblotts in any case will be dealt with and will the student be immediately sent to last chance rehabilitation.
Not every rule was official but they were Yuu's rules. Rules 8,9, and 10 aren't in the student handbook but they should be.
Copper pouted, his tail dropping. He knew he'd have to drop his catch, Chief always let the Heartslabyul students off easy even if they deal with Riddle.
Just then one of the unit officers came in to report.
"Chief, Captain Shuo has reported that his familiar spotted Housewarden Leona and Malleus fighting at the Magic Shift court." He said saluting.
"Alright, take your leave, Officer Falwell. I'm heading there. Make sure Leona's normal holding cell is open." Yuu sighed.
Leona could only be sent for rehabilitation so many times. He knows by now that Yuu will make him work without magic for weeks if he picks a fight. He's making progress but when it comes to Malleus he can't help himself.
When Yuu got to the field it was as if Malleus and Leona could sense them and were pretending as if nothing was happening.
"If you two are fighting you know the rules. I make an anti-magic field and you are free to go at it or I take you both in for causing a disturbance." Yuu said holding out their magic pen.
They all knew it was a trick question because if they decided to fight in a field they get taken in anyways but worse. Malleus was already dealing with the brewing tensions between Ramshackle and Diasomnia students. He may not want to fight Leona but backing down wasn't an option. It was a rock and a hard place.
Yuu seemed to decide for them as Yuu used one of their spells. Chains wrapped around Leona's and Malleus's hands. Both didn't struggle as Yuu wrote two warning tickets and sent them back to their dorms.
They made sure the hellhounds would escort them back.
Tumblr media
Between organizing patrols and sending reports to Crowley, Yuu has to train their officers.
They are like dogs wagging their tails to please their warden. Obedience and loyalty were key because decent would be punished but not banned.
Yuu welcomed them to betray or do things behind their back, so they can make an example out of them.
As years past this will become the norm for Ramshackle leaders. Heartslabyul was more strict with rules but didn't hold a candle to Ramshackle punishments. From kennel duty to back breaking labor.
Students under punishment had heavy magic balls and chains to carry around with them their enslavement ends when a teacher and high ranking officer writes them a slip permitting their discharge.
Living under Yuu's rule isn't that bad. The drom is close-knit and despite it being harsh its warm and cozy. They cook, study, train and eat together. They take the time to teach each other how to improve and do get into trouble sometimes.
Copper has a fear of the eel twins and while running from Floyd he got stuck climbing the greenhouse. Thankfully, Shuo's falcon spotted him.
Cooper also always ends up chasing Ruggie around because of their petty rivalry. The bloodhound also loves tracking down that purple cat and driving him off campus. Yuu l wonders if they are all friends because they seem to enjoy this game.
Nicholas is always after Rook due to his attempts at poaching Leona. He really hates archery as well and checks Rook for arrows during his stop and frisks. Yuu wonders if the they are friends because Rook seems to enjoy it too. Maybe because he has to practice stealth or because Nicholas is rather attractive and handsy.
Shuo is best at keeping and eye on everything but hasn't built any rivalries. He's too calm and calculated but his cocky nature does cause issues. He in charge of inmates and takes dealing punishments very seriously. Instead of using the riding crop like Nicholas or the taser like Cooper he uses the whip. His favorite place is the interrogation room. Yuu is nervous of his enthusiasm but he gets results.
He's a nice person when off duty. He loves bird watching and tend to drag is dorm mates to find rare species.
Yuu has had to adjust to being in charge of these boys and they were their boys. It was worth it.

Do you think malleus would let yuu/mc ride on his dragon form?
I'd say he would make you go through a test before riding his dragon form. He'll transform and see if you aren't afraid and like the brave person you are, malleus will be surprised to see someone else besides lilia or his family to not be terrified to their core. For malleus, this shows you trusts him enough and then only will he reflect that trust to you. Wether it's platonic or romantic, I think yuu truly has a special place in malleus's heart.

Walking in Heels
⋆﹥━━━━━━━🎧━━━━━━━﹤⋆
“Alright, good day to everyone in Twisted Wonderland! I’m Yuu, Ramshackle Dorm’s Prefect and this broadcast’s host. It is currently…6:07, it would seem like we started the program a bit early today.” Yuu spoke into the mic, as upbeat music played in the background.
They looked over their shoulder to see Ace, Deuce, and Epel sitting behind them(Grim is on Yuu’s lap), all of them smiling encouragingly at their friend.
Yuu’s nervousness was reduced, even if it was just but a fraction, they’re still thankful for their friends’ support.
“As you may know, I’m here to give some advice to anyone who needs it; free of charge, of course! Unlike a certain merman I know.” Yuu muttered the last part, causing snorts and short laughs to be heard farther away from the mic.
“Anyways! It seems like quite a lot of you are already sending in e-mails, but we promise we’ll get to all of you later,” they scrolled through the monitor beside their mic. Yuu looked at the time.
06:09:27
“Our first phone call from you listeners will be coming in a few seconds. I’d bet we’ll be bombarded by calls when the clock strikes 6:10,” a light chuckled vibrated through Yuu’s throat.
“For the mean time, here’s some tea from NRC this week; the science club’s laboratory almost blew up this Thursday, they suspect it was because of the poisonous mushroom they found after the incident was resolved. How the mushroom got into the science club, let alone in a potion, is now something students are coming up with theories with. Most of these theories include a certain nature loving 3rd year.” Yuu told the listeners.
“Bet it was Jade-senpai.” Ace whispered in the background.
“Who else would it be?” Epel whispered back.
“But I don’t think anyone would have the bravery to go up to him and just ask.” Deuce shivered, remembering Jade’s terrifying smiled when he worked at Mostro Lounge after signing a contract.
“Oh, and per request of our dear,” Yuu’s eye twitched.
“Headmage, we urge you to ignore any news of an ancient magic chandelier breaking inside school grounds; we would like to confirm that anything of that sort has ever happened at NRC.” Yuu added.
“Oh, would you look at that! It’s 6:10AM, I’ll be answering phone calls now,” Yuu picked up their phone and turned it on, as the screen lit up they opened their contacts to see their number.
“You know the drill people: which ever call comes in first will be answered, if your signal isn’t all that good, we’ll be sure to get back to you after.” Yuu said.
“Now, here’s my number: 1989-9489” Yuu read out loud.
(This is a fake number; please don’t call)
After a mere few seconds, Yuu’s phone rang.
“Well that was quick,” Yuu said, immediately pressing ‘answer’ and putting the phone on speaker.
“Uhm…hello?” A timid voice said.
“Hello! This is Yuu from Unique Magic: Listen Up, what do you need advice for?” Yuu greeted.
“I…uhm- hello, I’m Altaire, and I like to cross dress for fun, but I find myself struggling to walk in heels, I just can’t seem to balance myself.” Altaire said.
“Ooooo~ cross dressing? As Pomefiore residents would say; Slay.” Yuu giggled.
“But in my personal experience, balance usually isn’t the problem in wearing heels, it’s the discomfort that makes balancing harder than it really is.” Yuu explained.
“So, to avoid discomfort, and misbalancing by extension, you should walk heel-first. Don’t put all the pressure on your toes and the balls of your feet.” Yuu said to Altaire.
“Will this work on 7-inch platform heels too?” Altaire asked.
“Damn, your wardrobe sounds more extravagant than mine,” Yuu laughed.
“But, usually with platform heels, they have platforms for your whole feet, not just your heel. So, usually platform heels wouldn’t feel like how tall they actually are, because the platform would usually be the height of half the heel itself. Not to mention most of the platform heels made for wearing are padded for comfort.” Yuu answered.
“Ohhhh, I see.” Altaire said, their smile bleeding into their words.
“Glad to be of service. Is that all?” Yuu asked.
“Yes, that’s all, thank you and goodbye!” Altaire said before hanging up.

How to summon up the Devil
How does one summon up the Devil? There is no one definitive method of going about meeting Lucifer in your bedroom. But there’s equally no shortage of advice going back over two thousand years. The 1970s was a decade obsessed with horror, the occult, and Satanism. In 1975, when I was a 12-year-old at secondary school, an art teacher took time during class to tell us exactly how to summon up the…

Fragments of fright (10)
This translation comes from a small witch-and-occult centered section in a French magazine entirely dedicated to the Middle-Ages (Histoire et Images Médiévales, Medieval History and Images). It was the issue 51, August-September 2013). Written by Claire Goumot.
The Belladona
The Belladona, or Atropa belladonna, is a black-berried plant well known in the Middle Ages. It was nicknamed the Devil's Cherry or "Belle Dame", the Beautiful Lady, because of its incredible properties. Its botanical name, "Atropa", is from the same root as the name of the last of the three Parcae/Moirai - Atropos she who cuts the thread of mortal life. This was because eating belladona caused hallucinations, and could be deadly. This is why it was considered a a "plant of witches", and witches used it as an oinment to either poison people or fly all the way to their sabbath. But its common name comes from the cosmetic use Italian women had for this plant during the Renaissance (the "bella domna", beautiful ladies) - a few drops of belladona juice in their eyes dilated their pupils, which made their gaze more shiny and intense. As with all plants, when well-dosed, it as benevolent properties: it is appeased, can be an anesthetic, prevents spasms. It is still used by modern medecine to treat skin and eyes.
Salt
Since Antiquity, salt is a divine and magical element in many societies. It is believed that it can protect people from bad luck, evil spells, and that it can unveil the truth. Men of the Middle-Ages spread salt inside their house, and placed some on their doorsteps or in their pockets. Salt was a mark of wealth, because it was a rare and costly product in the Middle-Ages, that had its own tax. People who accidentally spilled their salt-pot took the habt of throwing a pinch of salt over their shoulder, as a way to mock Fortune and to show that they still had plenty more salt to throw around... With time, as witch trials were on the rise, salt became a protection against the Fiend. The one who spilled the salt-shaker could be accused of being a sorcerer, because it meant he couldn't actually grasp the holy salt. He then was forced to grab a pinch of it and throw it over his shoulder to prove that he did not fear the salt. A variation of this rite had the person throwing salt over their shoulder to blind the demon haunting them, and thus prevent any kind of misfortune or curse it could have caused. Today, to spill the salt-shaker is still believed to be a bad omen, and this is why people try to avoid passing it from hand to hand. By putting it on the table and letting the over person take it, you limited the risks of the salt spilling AND placed the next person to the test. It should also be remembered that ever since Antiquity, poisoners had the habit of putting their poison inside the salt - as such, not giving the salt container from hand to hand made you less of a suspect, and made the victim more "responsible" for their death, since they took the salt off the table on their own.
The book against witches: the Malleus Maleficarum
The Malleus Maleficarum, also known as the Witches Hammer, is a book of the 15th century written by two German Dominicans: Heinrich Kramer "Institoris" and Jacques Sprender. This manual for inquisitors and jurists detailed the process to identify, interrogate and punish witches. The first part of the book defines the "seal of the devil", aka the marks to recognize a witch (birthmarks, warts, beauty marks, parts of the body that do not feel anything, extreme skinniness, unbridled sexuality, presence of a familiar). Some details are quite... something, since the book details the most extavagant powers of the witches : they could use charms and tie knots to make men infertile, or they could steal men's penises to hide it in birds nests. The two other parts of the book are less amusing, since they are "practical" parts detailling several cases of witch trials, witch interrogations and witch executions. All those were done by the use of trials and tortures that harmed the flesh, "by fire or by water", "under the eye of God", to determine the guilt or innocence of the accused. One of the most famous accusations of witchcraft of history stays the one of Joan of Arc, who ultimately was proven innocent of witchcraft... But still condemned as a heretic and burned at the stake for this. The witch hunt will only end in Europe in the 18th century - with a total number of victims estimated between 50 000 and 100 000.
The witch's broom
The broom is the most iconic emblem of the witch, and this since the Middle-Ages. Why attach such a usual and banal item to the figure of the witch? First, because women were deeply associated with the broom - just like the cauldron or the spindle, this was one of the tools of the woman's domestic work, and the cauldron and the spindle in fact would also go on to become magical items in folklore and fairytales. In the Middle-Ages, feminity and domestic work only make one. Then, we also have to recall that brooms were made of Genisteae, aka "brooms" (broom shrubs, broom trees), a plant usually used in magical potions or medicinal brew to fight venom or lower tension. It was this same Genisteae that the witches used in the skin-ointment that allowed them to fly and to go to the sabbath (though sometimes the ointment serves to cover the broom rather than the witch's body).
The broom-shrub has a strong symbolical meaning : according to the Bible, the broom plant's rigidity is a cuse because the shrub refused to open its branches before the Holy Family as they fled king Herodus. Witches thus use a plant cursed by God to get closer to the Devil. Outside of the witches domain, the broom-plant had better connotations: it was the emblem of Charles VI, and the one of Goffrey Plantagenet, who always wore some of it on him, hence his name (the "broom plant" is known in French as "genêt").

⋆﹥━━━━━━━🎧━━━━━━━﹤⋆
Please listen to music as we prepare the program.
The line crackled and slowly faded into a tune.
“I know you,
I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam.
And I know it’s true visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once
The way you did once upon a dream
I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you, that gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream.”
As the voice faded into comfortable silence, the Prefect straightened out their uniform.
“Child of Man,” Malleus suddenly appeared, making Yuu jump 1 foot into the air in surprise.
“Tsunotaru!” Yuu greeted with a smile.
That smile…was so ethereal that Malleus can’t even begin to describe it.
Their teeth were white, like the rarest pearls. Their expression felt so welcoming to Malleus, even more so that his own home.
The Prefect truly looks like they were from a dream.
Maybe Malleus has already met them,
Once upon a dream.
