Making clothes is a process where you walk around a lot with pins stuck in your body

Okay, I'm going to make the Jacket 2.0.
The lining is this soft cotton brown plaid, and the outer layer is white cotton with plant illustrations.
There will be a pocket and key holder on the inside. The lenght is mid thigh. The back is made with two pieces, and fitted.
My only problems are with finishing the hems. Idk how to do them when I also have a liner to deal with. I don't use the hemming tape stuff, I just fold in different ways. But this might be the project where I learn how to use it.
The front will not have darts. I need to remember to attach the inside pocket into the lining fabric.

I made some overalls!
It's made in white denim, so I'm hoping to dye them this coming weekend. I have an iron on patch to add that has a splash of purple. I have two bottles of rit clothes dye in different color purples. I want to try to ombre dye it so that the feet are darker and it fades up into the white at the straps. Hooray!! New clothes!!
(Technically this is the second pair, since I made a wearable mock up)
((Please ignore the birdhouse gourds curing on the bench. They look a mess but that's part of the process))

My knitting machine arrived today, yayyyy! Gonna use this to make pairs of socks, hats and tubular scarves. I’ve ordered a large shipment of yarn of various colours. Once I’ve made a large bulk of clothing items, I’m donating them all to a local homeless shelter. It’s pretty cold up here despite the lack of snow and there’s a lot of people struggling to keep themselves warm so I’m gonna make sure that I can do something positive about it 👍

Style It Out, CBBC's clothes and stitching show, in this week's Week.
Very clever production, as the listed conceit (what can you do with old clothes?) allows them to smuggle a different show past the BBC board.
Tumblr media
Style It Out was a celebration of creativity, of individuality. It allowed young people a safe space to explore their potential, and gave them a chance to celebrate who they are.
I got a certain indefinable queer vibe, a slight sense that this is transgressive, and hence to be celebrated.
The kids, as ever, are alright.

And, in the interests of throwing a bone to older viewers, a cursory look at Smart TV on The Satellite Channel.
It's basically Never Mind the Buzzcocks for television; has its moments but really not my bag of chips.

Last pair of pants I’ll need for a while, mostly complete apart from the hems. In the middle of sewing these I realised that I was accidentally sewing up the Second Doctors pants (Patrick Troughton’s Doctor in Doctor Who actually wore yellow check pants, just no one knew until we got the animated/colourised episodes).

Peeps, I just made a long jacket/dressing gown that just keeps on giving and I can't stop posing with it. I don't post pictures of myself but I think it is time to make a self portrait again, because aahdkdkdkd, it is so nice. I feel like I was possessed by Muumi Mamma and Stede Bonnet.

Hey! I made a pair of Persephone Pants by Anna Allen! It’s the first “proper” pants I’ve ever made. I really liked the pattern, the unusual thing about them is that they don’t have a side seam. Each leg is cut as a single pattern piece. I liked the high waist and the wide leg. And also the unusual kind of corduroy I found. Going to make another pair with some adjustments. 😊🌻
