#kaname madoka#pmmm#puella magi madoka magica#fanart#sketch#2022#SO! the idea behind this design is to combine heian period junihitoe kimono and modern lolita#lots of flowy pillowy layers and some frills lots of pink white pastel yellow and gold#no gloves so that guiding magical girls to the afterlife is more like... personal#no tit window bc why the fuck. and her canon hair style when she goes madokami is just.... weird?#looks like she just clipped extensions onto the back of her head#no hair ribbons symbolic of her personal maturation and bc she gave her ribbons to homu#and! you may notice! the rings holding her pigtails are similar to the incubator ear rings!#regardless of the girls' opinions on the incubators they are very important to madoka being able to take this form#smth smth predator/prey relationships impact evolution#anyway. drawing more of my madokami and homu redesigns! working on a never before seen homu that i've been developing for years#i personally love the end of rebellion but i do think there were possibilities for it to end differently. hehe. goobye#WAIT ALSO chrysanthemum in the sash bc it's a cute fluffy flower of death#if you've seen my other posts on pmmm i am of the correct opinion that madokami is a goddess of death but not in a negative way#not all death gods are scary and evil death is natural and madoka's here to make it a peaceful experience

#this is random but#i have very mixed feelings about something concerning adym actually#adym handles a lot of shit really well and i love that#but i cant help but be like HMM#i may be barking up the wrong tree here but i feel like the dark spirit shit gives me#shades of uhh#i guess mado rebellion???#funnily enough im mostly obsessed w that movie but#people rightfully pointed out that they painted homus want to save/romantically get with mado as selfish#and its way more clear cut there in terms of presentation#but i feel like#and again i havent rewatched in a bit i may just be goofy on this but#i feel like its super subjective to paint a desire of love and wanting to save someone in that light#like you can there's definitely nuance there but#it also feels like#well thats what you think and youre drawing a line in the sand there#obviously homu becomes a lot more villainous and holic is far less judgemental of 'selfishness' but#it does make me go hmm cause while theres nuance i feel like someone being gay and wanting someone to live is enough reason to#let them go apeshit sometimes#deeply mixed on it mostly cause ive only seen it with gay ships#and because its usually pitted against a 'right choice'#this is super random anyways#i have a years long joke since rebellion that we should have a doumeki movie where he goes apeshit#take that as you will but i feel like theres smth muddy in what stories decide are good selfish or bad selfish#or what ppl r allowed to want#anyway back to spiders eye arc which is THE thesis statement of the show#one of the big ass doumeki thesis statements is that hes like determined to say fuck fate ill go my own way to mkae things right#and i guess part of the poetic tragedy but also frustrating part of rou is that hes like....well#i just gotta give up#there's some interesting parts to that he clearly didnt give up but he gave up the mindset he had in spiders eye

hello my fellow madoka enjoyers, i haven't posted about this show in a good few years but the trailer for the new film has me feeling delusional so i'm here to share some thoughts: i think this "false homura" is walpurgisnacht. (read more for theory crafting).
so the "homura is actually walpurgisnacht" idea has been floating around since the original season was airing -- rebellion discredited it quite a bit! the very existence of homulily makes things feels muddled. but hear me out, because this trailer tosses us a lot of bones (nevermind the literal title involving her name). first thing's first, we have two of homura in this trailer, and in the poster:
homura facing the viewer and smiling is who i'm going to call "false homura", and the one with her back to us is what i assume to be "normal" homura. technically homucifer. madoka is seemingly just madoka in the background, but interestingly, she is wearing her outfit from the concept film! i'll come back to this later because it's relevant; let's talk about false homu.
immediately we're greeted with this behind her, which is the tarot card 'XVIII' -- the moon. "the moon is a card of illusion and deception, and therefore often suggests a time when something is not as it appears to be." deception, fear, hidden things & confusion.
this outfit bares a lot of resemblence to walpurgisnacht. the large, ruffled dress. the mid section. the long bell sleeves with white at the ends... it's not subtle. the silhoutte is very apparent, even more so during this shot later:
^ worth noting that false homura's umbrella has the same, ruffled material as well. and her uniform is different! it seems to be an amalgamation of other school uniforms we see in the show.
walpurgisnacht is described as "the stage-constructing witch"...
... "it's nature is helplessness. it symbolizes the fool who continuously spins in circles. the witch's mysteries have been handed down through the course of history; its appellation is "walpurgisnacht." it will continue to rotate aimlessly throughout the world until it completely changes the whole of this age into a drama."
other descriptions of walpurgisnacht talk a lot about this "stage play", and how it is the ultimate end goal:
"she will flood the earth with magic, and take all of humankind into her play. a moving stage construction. if everything is a play, no unhappy things will exist. it may be a tragedy, but it'll all be part of the script. the play stops on walpurgisnacht, and the earth does not turn even once more. the story will not change. tomorrow, and the day after, is the night of walpurgis."
reading this with a rebellion pov is interesting -- after all, homura did exactly this. she rewrote the world, and everything is "happy" now for madoka, so she thinks. the earth does not turn even once more.
interesting that she drops this line at the end of this new trailer:
i also want to point out that the clara dolls we see in the trailer are not homura's usual clara dolls:
these designs are different & match none of the existing clara dolls. they're also missing the blue eyes they had in rebellion. the lower one in this image seems to have a tail of sorts? maybe a salamander tail..?
there was, however, one missing clara doll in rebellion... the 15th, known as "love".
i wonder if love will show up in this movie... (or if it's already here).
taking a small detour from false homura, there's another character in this trailer that's unaccounted for, and that's this girl who seems to be a mix of madoka and homura:
the bow homura uses at the end of the original show.
madoka's hair ribbons and back bow.
homura's skirt and diamond designs.
madoka's heels and puff sleeves.
her entire design is just. them. even the hair color is what you get when you mix madoka and homura's... so who is she? i keep thinking back to how walpurgisnacht is described as an "amalgamation" of other witches & magical girls... hm hm.
when madoka was having it's initial run, one of the series' designers, inucurry, said that "walpurgisnacht and kriemhild gretchen (madoka's witch) are meant to have pairing sillhouettes." when placed together, they form an hourglass -- or a sand timer. food for thought.
& back to the concept film real quick, because i said i'd mention: though it lacks any context, in the film, madoka is talking to some "fairies":
though we're never told what these fairies are, they reminded me a lot of walpurgisnacht's familiars:
i have to wonder if maybe these familiars and the clara dolls have any similarities...
anyways, there's a lot to unpack! lots to think about! it's very clear that walpurgisnacht and homura are linked, but to what extend we'll have to wait and see... though, one last thing about false homura: she is smiling every time we see her.

This is an idea to improve Kaga's reputation and make him more popular than Budo.
You know Sakura, the girl from the gardening club who has a fatal heart disease and won't live long, right? Well, look at this question and answer from YS discord.
Who is this other member who knows how to make a cure for Sakura?
It can't be Horo, his specialty is hologram development.
It can't be Meka, she specializes in making robots.
Definitely not Homu, she was interested in joining the science club just to learn how to make one robot.
One person left; Kaga.
The following could happen: Yaku feels sad and helpless, and whines in the Science Club, "she's too young to die..."
Kaga hears him and asks him what he is talking about. Yaku tells him the whole story. Kaga sets finding a cure for Sakura as his new goal. And he starts with that.
Later, he comes to Sakura and convinces her to take his cure, which Sakura does because she has no other solution. After that, she goes to examine herself medically, only to discover that she has already begun to recover.
Sakura broadcast the news to her friends, her friends spread the news around the school, and so on until the news reached newspapers, television, and social media; An 18-year-old scientist invents a cure for heart disease and saves his colleague.
(The rest of the post is additional events that some may find boring.)
I can imagine the gardening club girls visiting him in class to give him flowers, different students waving at him when they see him, the club leaders applauding him as he entered the meeting room, and the headmaster honoring him on stage for being a hero.
On Friday, Sakura confesses her love for him under the cherry tree. And this happens:
"Sorry, I must decline. I am already pursuing another woman !" He answered before walking away.
"Oh..." she took a moment to think about his response, then she smiled to herself with acceptance, "It's okay, it's a matter of heart after all, right? *sigh* how lucky she is..."

❝ I... I know what real monsters look like. You aren't one of them! ❞ Homura dodged yet another attack, noting how much slower she has become. She knew she should be using her shield, but she refuses to allow this scenario to become a fight. She should be aiming her gun straight at the witch⏤ Her mind screams that she should fight, fight, fight⏤ But Robin isn't a witch.
She only looks as terrifying as a real witch...
But Homura can still see Robin's hanging body.
Strange things happen in Kamihama City. She has kept up the routine of journaling in this timeline like all the previous times, but she notices that her journaling has increased tenfold since entering Kamihama City. She's kept her journals safe and sound within the depths of her shield to keep as much memories as possible alive, not forgotten. To remind herself of all the moments, both good and bad. Part of her longed to share the good moments with everyone once they finally defeat Walpurgisnacht for good. They won't remember any of these precious moments, but it still sounded like a nice thing to do⏤
But Homura can't do that without Robin.
Robin may see herself as a new person to their group, but Homura didn't see her that way. No, she knew Robin. She also knew that what she was seeing isn't precisely a Witch. What is happening right now is the result of a Doppel. The other side of the same coin. The Doppel system seems a lot more fair until you realize that relying too much on such a system can do damage.
But what Homura does know is that Doppels could be exhausted once they are finished with their violent tantrums. The Doppel takes over, edging closer to their darker fate... But the good thing is that the Doppel will eventually let go and crawl back away. All Homura had to do is keep up for as long as she can until she can finally reach to Robin. It's why she didn't have the heart to attack her. Robin can keep lashing out for as long as she wants, but Homura is ready to keep up the pace of dodging her attacks.
❝ You are not becoming a witch. No one within Kamihama City can turn into those monsters... Please, try to calm down! ❞ Did Robin know about the Doppel system yet? She couldn't tell, but she hopes that she can still try to get her to listen. All she knew is that she had to keep moving. She has already forced her gun back into her shield before her instincts to pull the trigger kicks in by accident. She lifts up her shield, preparing herself to block yet another blow.
❝ We have a real chance to change our fates in Kamihama City now, but I refuse to take another step unless you're right by my side again. By our side. I know you want to give up, but I refuse to give up on you! ❞
