The line that stuck out to me most today and I think is gonna haunt me a little is: "I don’t quite know whether this means that few travellers go missing in Genoa, or that a lot of travellers go missing everywhere else."
The delivery, the contents of the quote, augh it's so haunting! In universe, the somewhat obvious answer is "the most horrifying option", but OOC it makes me think of how many people disappear every year in the USA, and how the last seen places plotted on a map correlates (even if superficially) to the cave systems here. Or at least that's the meme in certain circles. It's just kinda horrifying to realize just how many people basically vanish every year that are never found again. At least in TMA you can blame the Horrors for it.
I did not know that tidbit about the US

You know what women love? When men they don't know stare at them in public for prolonged periods, join them uninvited and then just don't say anything... and then save their lives. I would have climbed into his lap.
He just wants to have a nice holiday 😠 He just got out of a really stressful situation with his mum 😠 And now he's basically been interrupted by this woman who's going to die if he doesn't do anything 😠 Why is life unfair to Gerry?
Love this assertion that he doesn't help strays. Yeah right. Dude got one plumber killed one time and changed the entire trajectory of his life over it. He's done nothing but help strays ever since.
It makes sense to me that Gerry can't tell exactly which Entity has her marked. If it weren't for all the context around her being alone, this statement could easily be Stranger or Spiral.
Also this seems like confirmation that it's possible to be marked by an Entity by just being incredibly closely aligned to it, and not necessarily through a traumatic encounter with it. Andres was just so alone that the Lonely already had its hooks in her.
I'd forgotten the line about him not knowing which Entity was after her, so I thought he asked about her mother to fight off the Lonely. But it makes sense that if he doesn't know exactly what the danger is, he just tries to find her strongest anchor. That's about as good as you can do for a catch-all.
