MIRABELL MADRIGAL: quality time

most may think mirabell’s love language would be words of affirmation - considering her family didn’t give her that for most of the movie,

but imo she puts her family and lover into two separate categories, and she doesn’t expect the same thing from each.

and plus, she does like affirmations like “i’m proud of you” not so much “you’re stunning” (as much as she does appreciate it, she would just explode lmfao)

she likes living in the moment with her partner, and it doesn’t matter what they’re talking about, or what they’re doing. it’s a breathe of fresh air - and she needs a lot of it sometimes - especially when she’s stressed.

she loves any kind of love her partner gives, but quality time means the most to her :)

i think the main reason camilo is so into physical touch is becuz this boy CANNOT keep his hands to himself (well, he can, but only if he has to.)

i feel like he’s not a huge fan of words of affirmation and acts of service, he’ll enjoy them coming from u, but there not his favorites.

he doesn’t need words of affirmations becuz he already thinks he’s amazing lol. like you’d go “camilo, ur awesome.” and he’d be like “ik sweetheart, ty for the reminder.”

he also wants to show you how manly he is so he is big on doing acts of service for u, but not so much the other way around. XD

gift giving (or ig receiving in this case) and quality time are something he loves, but physical touch still is at the top.

this bitch is a damn love machine, so he’ll take from u and give anything to u.

lusia goes through a lot of stress - even after the events of the movie (imo.)

so hearing a simple “your doing great today!” or a “i’m proud of you” makes her cheeks swell from smiling.

she also really appreciated acts of service becuz of this!

she loves gifts, but she feels bad about u spending money on her😭🥹

on top of all this, she loooves physical touch. she loves giving headpats lol. and she loves receiving hugs and kisses, hand kisses will be the death of her heheheheheh

gifts - big or small, mean the absolute world to dolores! to her, it shows you cared enough to 1: buy her something and 2: pay attention to what she likes. and she’s all for it!

your family doesn’t have much money? no biggie! she love’s physical touch too. hand kisses, holding her hips, and playing with her hair are her favorites :) are this things small? yes. but does she love small gestures? also yes.

words of affirmation she also loves, but the appearance based one’s rllyyyy get to her. “you look like stunning today.” or “i love your smile.” are the kind of things she loves :)

quality time doesn’t mean to much to her - as she can always hear her partner anyway. but don’t take that as she doesn’t wanna see you at all, because it’s quite the opposite!

she likes doing acts of service for her partner, and not so much the other way around, just becuz she likes having the feeling of doing something and crossing it off a list.

isabela enjoys receiving gifts, but it’s not always the way she likes to feel loved, but she cherishes everything u can give her like a diamond🫶

Info: Since the 100th year group photo, Asha tried to fit in with the other people that had the princesses started to notice and decide to help her fit in. Meanwhile, Star is having fun with new friends!

Hello, Anon :D I’m going with Luisa & Bruno, who I am. Extremely Normal About. This... got a bit long XD

Okay technically I don't think Bruno and Luisa actually interact in canon BUT they're super close trust me trust me

Starting with how I characterize Luisa, because there’s some extrapolation going on here:

I think the big conflict of Luisa's character (in tandem with straight up overwork) is that she wants to be tender and vulnerable, but feels that being so would make her a burden. Other people have problems? That's part of life. They can ask for help, she'll fix it. But if she asks for help herself, it means she's a failure. It’s right there in the opening lines of Surface Pressure: she has no room for fear, vulnerability, or weakness/inability to do everything.

Also in Surface Pressure, between the Titanic and the line of doors, Luisa fixes Mirabel's glasses. It's a small gesture, but I think it says a lot about who she is. This isn't something that is any easier for her to do than it is for Mirabel. Mirabel’s perfectly capable. Luisa doesn't need to do anything. And in the action of the song, there is a lot going on that only Luisa can handle, but she still pauses for a moment for this.

In part, it could read that she fixes every problem she encounters, no matter how small, but that doesn't really cover the nuances going on. It's a very gentle gesture, even parental, and coming from a person who doesn't wear glasses herself. I think this is habit from when Mirabel was very young—young enough that she was too uncoordinated to fix her glasses without smudging them—which Luisa has kept up all these years later. Which also means that Luisa started doing this when she was young herself. That's not something she was likely ever asked or expected to do, she just did/does it because she loves her sister, who will never fully outgrow Luisa's memory of her. That's the way she loves.

(Keep that last bit in mind, I swear this post is about Bruno & Luisa)

Between this and she tells Mirabel that she (over)heard the adults talking about Bruno having a vision about the magic before he left, Luisa seems to pay attention to the people around her. In that conversation, she also doesn't speak badly of Bruno. The vision was terrible, his room is dangerous, but nothing about Bruno himself. And she knows nothing about his vision, so if she thinks it's terrible, that's a value judgment she heard from one of the adults. Considering what Alma says right before the collapse, I suspect Luisa heard someone (probably Alma) telling the other adults that, whatever Bruno saw, he abandoned them and left them to deal with it, without so much as a warning. “Bruno doesn’t care about this family.”

But she doesn't say any of that to Mirabel. And it would be relevant to whatever’s wrong with the magic. Given that Luisa is telling Mirabel to investigate Bruno’s tower, it’s not a matter of protecting Mirabel from dangerous information. I think Luisa just doesn’t believe it. Which, if my inferences about what she overheard are correct, that means Luisa believes in Bruno’s love for the family more than she believes Abuela, even after Bruno’s been gone for ten years. That trust doesn’t come from nothing.

(I don't necessarily keep that detail true in my fics, e.g. in Atlts Alma didn't tell anybody that she asked Bruno for a vision, so no one else knew. Unless Luisa actually overheard Alma talking to Pedro, but was avoiding sharing that bit of gossip, which is in line with her character. Fic-canon or not, it is always part of how I characterize Luisa, though.)

So, what we have (by my consideration, at least) a solid canon basis for:

Luisa puts on a tough facade, but wants to be vulnerable

Luisa shows her love through gentle gestures

Luisa doesn’t completely stop thinking of her loved ones as the way they used to be

Luisa is observant

Luisa believes that Bruno loves/loved the family

Enter Bruno.

Pre-walls, I like the idea that he was close with all the kids. (Nothing Jared Bush says on Twitter can stop me.) The Madrigals are a busy family, and Bruno wasn’t. I imagine that he wasn’t fielding a lot of vision requests those last few years, or going out for... anything else, if he could help it, given the combination of his poor reputation and his anxiety. And the more he withdrew socially, I think, the more the other adults would encourage him spending time with the kids. He was essentially a stay at home parent.

After the walls? Bruno’s a gentle, goofy guy. And my Bruno, at least, doesn’t stand in the present so much as straddle the past and the future. I think in the movie, when he looks at Mirabel, he sees both who she is now and remembers the little kid she once was. (Pretending to be Hernando and Jorge did work to distract her from the reality of his situation, but also made it worse. I think it would have worked better on Antonio, but Bruno wasn’t quite calibrated to interacting with a teen.) We don’t see him really interact with the other kids he knew before, but I imagine it would be the same for them.

So, the specific Luisa & Bruno dynamic that I write:

Luisa is tender but feels like she can’t let herself be because she needs to be strong and invulnerable for the family. But the facade doesn’t work on Bruno, because he looks at her and thinks “that’s my sweet Luisita” and is just as goofy and sweet to her as he’s always been. Even six foot something and jacked, she will never fully outgrow Bruno’s memory of her.

(Remember I said to keep that bit in mind? It’s one aspect in which Bruno and Luisa love in the same way.)

They also both absolutely won’t stand up for themselves, but I think they’ll throw down for their loved ones, hence my Luisa throwing Ricardo Espitia in the river that one time. They’re good for each other.

Mama Mirabel AU but everyone just raise Antonio!!

Pepa and Felix just had Antonio and there very tired, pepa more so.

It’s now a game of hot potatoes with the new baby!

Julieta and Agustin are the first people to help take care of Antonio. Julieta like it because it gives her a reason to leave the kitchen, it’s been 10 years since she held a baby and it’s so nice. She gets to sleep and play with the baby and when her anxiety get the better of her about not healing the town, not cooking, baby Antonio just babble to her

Dolores and Isabela are the second

So on down the family chain

Everyone in the house has so many damn issues that they think “man this baby can fix my/our problems”

Isabela take care of Antonio because he’s a baby and he the first person in a while that smiles without any hidden motive and he see her as a person, not as perfect or as the next heir to the family

Dolores takes care of Antonio (and Mirabel) because we’ll, everyone is busy and Dolores at first took care of Mirabel since the rest was busy then when Antonio was born she and Mirabel took care of him “together” (it’s just Dolores but she let Mirabel help)

Luisa raises Antonio and it nice because that means she didn’t have to work, didn’t have to lift any donkeys or stress or have to carry so many rock that she sometimes things she die because they can crush her on day. Being with Antonio is calm and quiet, she can act silly and childish

Camil takes care of Antonio because it’s his job, his only 10 yet he learning how to be the town’s babysitter and what better way to practice is to take care of his brother? When Camilo has to watch the other children, Antonio is there next to him, fallowing him like a little duck.

Mirabel is just like the mama Mirabel au

Alma also help raise Antonio, it’s been a long time since she held a baby and a part of her wonder why pepa is too tired to watch her son? (She don’t think about how much she pushing her children to be better, to be strong. She doesn’t think how much it hurts to hold onto something that is so fragile and is independent on her, when was the last time she hug her family? Held them close as she comforts them?)

Felix and pepa obviously take care of their son, it just what it’s a 50/50, (ok it’s just Felix more of the time but it’s alright). The yellow parents love their son and it make them happy how much he’s grown

Bruno is the last to help raise Antonio, mostly at night. He come out of the walls and into the nursery and just watches the baby. Telling him stories and all about the cracks. He hold Antonio and the two walk around the house or something if the weather is good, outside

When Antonio is a toddler and started talking it’s a man house we’re everyone is trying to get Antonio to say his first words to them. It only after Antonio says his first words that the family realized that hey! We are all basically raising Antonio individuality! Hmmmm weird

Antonio calls every mom and dad. Or for the kids sisters and (brother for Camilo).

Bruno comes out of the walls because Antonio keeps asking for the “green ghost” and when ask he just tells the family about a man in green who visits him at night. The family is obviously, freaking the hell out about that. It’s only when Dolores finally spills the bean that Bruno comes out, and before anyone can do anything Antonio launches himself at Bruno and hug him and calls him “ghost dad!”

Family then comes together and have a big family talk and the cracks get fix and it’s all good and happy. And when Antonio gets his gift the family all yell and scream and excited, since the family is not king being perfect or working themselves to death they just act normal or as normal a magical family can be.

Poly Julieta x Agustin x Bella

(Bi poly marriage and this is the cutest idea I've ever had. Julieta and Agustin met meet Bella when they were young adults and been in love ever since. So when it came to marriage Alma wasn't sure about 3 of them getting married but of course that changed when she thought about more grandkids can be made if there were more women and Bruno didn't marry anyone so she figured it would work. P.s yes Bella and Agustin have a child together and is the 3rd oldest child. )

Mirabel wakes up when the house rattle the roof and floor boards.

She smells food "Mmm food." "Morning Casita!" She said getting up and getting dressed then a knock came to her door it was her older sister Angelina

"Hola sis wake up! Isabella told me to wake you up." "Of course ms perfect would have people do get dirty work."

With Bella.

I get dressed as my husband kissed me "Mi amor your looking beautiful as ever I'm so happy me and Julieta met and saw you." He said before placing a kiss on my cheek "Me too my dear we must go eat before Camilo eats up everything for seconds."

Bella!

"I have to paint some things like Ms Rodriguez fence and the church walls."

"of course I love your work so much." "Gracias mi vida."

Belle's gift involves art work and colors she can make any colors or new ones off the top of her head and she's amazing.

Angelina is her and Agustin's first child born after Luisa she's 17 years old and her birthday is coming up after Antonio gift ceremony. Her gift jewelry making and she make gems come out of nowhere like magic which Alma thinks strengths the gift but it needs more so she hopes Antonio gift will help as well.

"Ok Bella remember don't stress. She said as she saw her daughter "Mama! I'm going to make some necklaces today I'll remember to make you one."

She cupped her cheeks smiling kissing her forehead "Of course mi amor have a great day be careful!" "I will bye Mira!" She said waving.

"Mami!" Said Mirabel hugging Bella "I'm so excited for today!" "So am I ."

After the ceremony

Agustin and Julieta were laying on their bed until Bella came in "Phew I'm so beat but I'm glad to be here mi amors!" She said hugging her wife as she kisses her lips "Agustin smiled as she kissed him too "Mi amor we have thinking about Angelina's birthday and do you know what she likes??"

"Well I'm not sure she seems to like everything we get her when she was 9 she wanted her tio to come back."

Sadden faces came over them that day she heard tales about Bruno from her mothers but her tia Pepa and tio Filex we're different they tried to avoid talking about him.

"Well I think I have something for her this year my Angelina! My baby is going to be 18!" She said then her smile fades "Julieta I didn't want her to be in Isabella's shoes." Her wife looks at her in agreement as well as Agustin "I know mi amor but that's only if she wants to you know she doesn't let people tell her what to do."

"Si Agustin she has my mother's stubbornness!" "So do you mi vida." Said Agustin he remembers her mother not wanting her to marry a man and woman but she saw how much love she had for them so they were wed.

"Well either way things will hopefully go smoothly for her and Isabella."

The next day

Everyone was not celebrating Angelina and her birthday! She was ready for her big day!

Blue flowers were surrounding the banner "Ah yes now my sweet little sister can have her sweet 18!" Said Isabella excited as Luisa lift up a floral statue of her "Yup lil sis has grown up so fast!"

Pepea was excited for her niece's Quinceañera. She then helped Julieta, Bella and Alma get her hair and make up done.

"Hola amor I'm so proud of you!" Said Pepa as she hugged her as she formed a ☁️ 🌨️ "Pepa your going to get her make up wer." Said Alma.

"Alright now mi bebe it's time for your dress!" Said Pepa Julieta went to check on the decorations and cake.

"Ok Bella we'll be down stairs."

Her dress and shoes.

Her hair was put in a bun and strands were dangling she walked out the room as her family saw her "Oh mi amor there you are!" Said Bella

She walked up to hug her "All grown I'm so proud of you Angelina!" "Gracias Mami!" She said Agustin walked in smiling then gasp at the sight of his daughter in her blue dress she hugged him as he cried happy tears "My baby girl all grown up! I'm so proud of you!"

"gracias papi." She said as Dolores got her crown that was in a box

"happy birthday Angelina."

Then Camilo got her another gift "Happy birthday prima!"

"Gracias Dolores! Gracias Milo!"

They put her gifts on her and she smiled as Mirabel came in hugging her "Happy birthday sis." She gave her a small box and she opened it revealing another necklace

"Mira it's beautiful thanks so much little sis!" She said hugging her!

Angelina dances with her family on her special day. She dances with her father and he plays piano while singing to her "Me and your mothers are so proud of you and happy because we always knew that love is making room for the best in you." Everyone cheered and cried "Happy birthday!"

Isabella was happy this day but knew that it isn't going to last since her day for her suitor asks her to marry him.

"Isa come join the party don't worry about him." Said Angelina as she helped her sister up dancing with her.

Everything was going great until Mirabel saw cracks in the wall and she ran to tell everyone she knew telling people about again would get her more backlash but she didn't care had to tell her family.

Julieta brought out the cake for her

"Happy birthday Angelina my perfect granddaughter!" Said Alma as she sat her down for her cake and for her to blow her candle.

"Ok Angie make a wish!" Said Camilo as he lit the candle waiting for her to blow it she did as everyone cheered then Mirabel ran in "The house in danger!" She said Isabella looked annoyed at her sister once again bursting in "What?" "The house is cracking again I'm seeing the cracks again and I-!" "Mirabel please this is the most inappropriate thing to bring up! It's your sister's Quinceañera!"

Said Alma as she got annoyed "Abuela maybe Mira did see them." "See why you've done? Now you've ruined your sister's birthday and now putting these crazy ideas in her head now she can't stop thinking about it!"

"Then a rat came from outta nowhere and was eating her cake "Ahh! Rat!"

Said Pepa Angelina sae it and smiled "Aw!" "Angie move!" Said Camilo as he hit the rat with a broom "oh my gosh Angelina are you ok honey?!"

Said Julieta as she saw her cake smashed "There are cracks on the walls -!" "Enough! You and these cracks honestly look at our sister Mirabel does she look happy to you?!"

Said Isabella. "Guys guys it's alright I have another cake and Isabella mind yourself with your sister." "No mama she's been acting crazy sense Antonio's ceremony and now Angelina's birthday?!"

"Isabella it's ok really I - I'm fine look why don't we look to ease your mind sis?"

They walked to the other room and sad nothing Mirabel felt the shock wash over her Angelina saw her sister face and felt bad "See? Nothing your trying to ruin her birthday!"

"Wait but what if we lit the room a bit? Abuela?" "Enough of this Angelina come it's time for you to cut your cake."

They cut her new cake that Julieta made after her cake was ruined

"Happy birthday mi amor!"

They said as she cut her first piece and ate a bite "Mm mama it's great I love it thanks!"

"your welcome mi vida."

The next day

Bella woke up after she was thinking about what Mirabel said about the cracks "Is it true Casita?"

Let's be honest. I'm gonna be a rat.

One line in particular that makes me feel like I'm gonna start crying like a baby, is when Luisa and Isabela say: "we see how brave you've been", in all of you. It's something about hearing those words, ones that I wished someone had said to me, and how they were said by Isabela, who'd had such a strained relationship with Mirabel, just resonates with me so much; seeing their faces FULL of adoration and love, literally makes my heart ache, it's beautiful.

There's obviously more moments that make me close to tears too, I wouldn’t be able to say all of them in one post lol, but an honorable mention is: "he sent me you." It's just so perfect🥺🥺🥺

Luisa x y/n pt 2 (angst) (again really long)

(Sad incident)

Luisa seemed off all day and she knew that Luisa has a lot on her plate a lot of responsibilities and work she knew that luisa was struggling and she wanted to help her girlfriend "Hey Luisa…" y/n said trying to get her attention while she was doing something "oh..hey y/n do you need anything?" " Luisa asked "no not really I was just wondering if you were okay…you seem off…." Y/n said worry evident in her voice Luisa paused and wouldn't meet her eyes "n No I I'm completely fine y/n" Luisa said but it was obvious that she wasn't fine "baby…I know when something's wrong you know you can talk to me about anything-" y/n said "Babe I said I was fine don't worry" Luisa said starting to get irritated

"I know you're lying lue' please just let me help you-" y/n said but was cut off "JUST STOP I SAID I WAS FINE JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" Luisa yelled at her luisa had never yelled at anyone before luisa wasn't like that y/n was so scared by this she fell backwards onto the hard ground shaking she was terrified then Luisa saw her on the ground her eyes widened in fear and filled with tears "Shit shit I'm so sorry I'm so sorry…" Luisa mumbled before bursting into tears and running away it took y/n a moment to think.

her eyes stung and her chest felt heavy after a moment or so she got up off the ground and started walking into the direction Luisa ran into but stopped dead in her tracks holding back tears and she just turned around and started walking away tears streaming down her face she felt so hurt she didn't understand…she was trying to help her and she yelled at her she never raised her voice at anyone before was it her..? Y/n thought y/n was pulled out of her thoughts when she tripped over something and hit the ground hard her legs getting very badly scraped up this caused y/n to finally break she burst into tears and ran as fast as she could sobbing she ran into the lake and fell onto her knees and screamed while tears streamed down her cheeks.

Y/n quickly entered her home and ran past her brothers into her room they tried to stop her but weren't fast enough y/n grabbed a dresser and pushed it in front of the door so no one could get in and sunk to the floor crying her brothers tried unsuccessfully to get her to open the door y/n didn't know how long she cried for.

(Time skip)

y/n hadn't eaten or drank anything for days. She had barely slept. Her brothers tried everything to get to her. James even tried to throw a boulder at the door but failed. Before she knew it she heard a familiar sweet voice "y/n hey are you okay…? Baby…" Luisa said y/n didn't say anything "Y/n please…. please come out I I I'm s sorry…please…" luisa said y/n could hear she was crying "LEAVE ME ALONE!!" y/n yelled.

(A day or so later) y/n was laying on the cold hard ground she physically could not cry anymore y/n knew she had to get out she didn't want to she wanted to just disappear but she just had to go out y/n could barely walk her whole body aced she hadn't eaten in days y/n Left her room and of course her brothers were so relieved to see her okay they took her to julieta so she could heal physically from the days she was locked in her room y/n had some time alone with julieta

"Do you have anything that can heal me mentally…?" Y/n asked julieta paused "Oh darling …. healing someone physically is one thing but mentally that's hard and that's not something my gift can do…" juleta said with a sad look "oh yeah…" y/n said feeling empty on the inside even though she was full of julietas cooking "I do know that talking to Luisa will make you feel better I know you're angry about what happened I know you were only trying to help but she…will probably never forgive herself for what happened she's been so angry with herself she really loves you so much y/n" juleta said y/n was quite for a moment

"I know I'm just….hurt….I I just…" y/n started as she began crying julieta hugged her and sighed "I know I know I understand but I think you should talk to her about it.." julieta said y/n wiped her tears "you.. your r right…" y/n said.

Y/n walked down the hallway to Luisa's room feeling almost scared then she saw her. Luisa stopped dead in her tracks when she saw y/n she knew she was there because of Dolores but she didn't expect to see her like this…y/n walked up to Luisa and hugged her luisa was beyond shocked and stiffend up Luisa hugged her back after a moment or so on the verge of tears y/n started crying "are you okay…?" Y/n asked "No..I'm not okay y/n I haven't been for a long time…" Luisa said close to breaking

"do you want to talk about it?" Y/n asked Luisa started sobbing then and vented to y/n they went in her room and sat on the bed thare we're already tissues everywhere on the floor Luisa cried for hours. "Are 'you okay…?" Luisa asked once she finished crying "no I'm really not" y/n said Luisa grabbed y/ns hands and started play with them like she did so often y/n was caught off guard by it "do you want to talk about it..?" Luisa asked
