i don't know if i should applaud SJM or criticize SJM for making her side characters so intriguing. Kallias & Viviane? LoA? Tarquin, Cresseida, & Varian? Thesan? The lady who made Lucien's eye that showed up once in ACOTAR who's name I forgot but she seemed really cool? Nephelle? Jurian & Vassa? I could go on and on!!! I'd kill for books on like....any of these people...AND THAT'S GREAT it's nice that the reader gets to be so intruiged....but then again the side characters are lowkey more interesting than Riceman, Thing 1 & 2, The Blonde girl from Despicable Me 2, and the extraterrestrial roach..so that's not good

I love your fanfics. I literally get addicted to every one of them, and wanted to show my appreciation for your work (and also to the many amazing fanfic writers who help keep the fandons alive). ❤
So, my question is: what are your favorite fictional couples (canon and non-canon)?
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much, Anon. This is so so sweet of you to send 🥰🥺
So I am of course and obviously Nessian trash first and foremost. Nesta and Cassian and their relationship truly has me in a chokehold. I love them so much.
More recently, I've really gotten into Elucien. There are so many fics out there that are just written so so well and ugh they've got me. The potential for so much sass from them both once Elain is comfortable around him.
I do read the occasional Gwynriel fic, but I can be a bit picky with those in terms of plot. And I have started to become an Azris believer on the lowkey because the enemies to lovers potential is top tier.
But on the topic of non-canon, my absolute favorite ship for that is Cresserie aka Cresseida and Emerie. I've been fully converted there. Absolutely love to include them as a side ship in my Nessian fics now

idk if this is two many characters but elain, tarquin and mor
You’re all good! I’m gonna answer them all!
E/lain:
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would banghogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuffbest quality: her gentleness and positivityworst quality: her passivity and denial during the time in the hovelship them with: no one, but perhaps L/ucien if it’d been done right :)brotp them with: N/esta, M/orneeds to stay away from: fucking Faerug.misc. thoughts: I really really wish she’d been given more substance as a character because she had potential! She comes off very flat and static imo. All we know about her is that she likes to garden and she is a seer. Seers are super cool but SJ/M rushed E/lain into having that ability, and everything she predicts is either stupidly vague, obvious, or not very helpful. Maybe this is just me being a Sansa Stark stan, but I could totally see her as a Sansa-esque character–naive at first, kind, likes soft feminine things, steadily gains intuition and empathy–if more thought had been given to her besides “evil sister” and “love interest for Assriel.”
T/arquin:
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would banghogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuffbest quality: his empathy and ambitionworst quality: naivety?ship them with: realistically no one but crackship maybe L/ucien or Vivianebrotp them with: C/resseida, V/arian, M0rneeds to stay away from: Failsand, Cassiass, A/mrenmisc. thoughts: Yet another character who was wasted to benefit Faerug and Rice! The S/ummer Court sooooo deserved a POV. I wish we got to know more about the blood rubies and T/arquin accomplishing his dream. Also it lowkey annoys me how these black characters have white straight hair instead of curly black hair. I just imagine the SC characters with hair most real-life black people would naturally have–Tarquin and Varian have T’Challa-ish haircuts (Black Panther) and Cresseida more of a Rue (The Hunger Games) hairstyle because hell if I’m going to imagine the only explicitly black people in this series with European hair.
M0r:
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would banghogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuffbest quality: resilienceworst quality: hmmm, being friends with Rice? this isn’t a quality, but she’s an angel and he doesn’t deserve her.ship them with: this is a really uncommon ship, even among antis, but V/IVIANE!!!!brotp them with: A/mren, Cassiass, N/estaneeds to stay away from: Assriel, Faerug, Rice, Eris, and Beron can all eat shit and die :) :)misc. thoughts: everything concerning the NC should have been told from her POV. The concept of her character is really strong but she doesn’t have any flaws and her power is incredibly vague, and SJ/M/Faerug doesn’t care about her now that she’s a wlw so we’ll never know her true potential. She just exists to show how progressive Rice is because she’s a woman in a position of power he gave her. That said, I do think she’s the best character in the IC.

random hc vomit because i was thinking of burial rites in prythian, more or less fleshed out
spring:
the people of the spring court get buried in the ground. their land is holy to them and in death they seek to give back what they took during their lives. they are buried without coffins, some even without clothes. richer citizens and land owners will plant trees where their loved ones are laid to rest, while the poorer folk will usually opt for flowers, or a bush. tamlin's mother is buried beneath a beautiful magnolia. what could be recovered of the sentries that gave their lives searching for the one to break the curse rests in a grove of wild cherry trees. tamlin burned the bodies of his father and brothers and dumped them over the wall in the woods of the human realm so they would not poison the spring court even after their deaths.
summer:
summer sends its dead out to sea. some go in boats, some in caskets weighed down with stones and trinkets. some have their ashes scattered from the cliffs. the royal family rests in an underwater mausoleum, sealed off in marble chambers. cresseida says she doesn't want to go there, she wants her remains to feed her pet sharks. she made varian and tarquin sign a slip that they'd do it even though they absolutely hate the idea.
autumn:
cremation, obviously. however the method differs. among the lords, families usually plant a tree for each newborn. that tree will only be felled when that fae dies, and will then serve as their pyre. what kind of tree you're allowed to grow depends on your status, usually a family gets assigned a specific tree by the high lord. when the fae is dead and the tree is gone they will bury the ashes in the same spot the tree stood before and once a new child is born, a new tree will be planted there.
winter:
remember that huge sheet of ice in the winter court? there's graves beneath that. the winter court has a bunch of frozen lakes and they are also massive graveyards. when a fae from winter dies the family will stage a procession to the lake nearest to them or to where they came from, where they will hack a hole into the ice and lower their dead into the water beneath. no one quite understands the magic that pulls the bodies, clad in thick white sheets, down to the bottom, but there always seems to be a faint glowing light way down. family and friends will sing praises and prayer to their gods at the ice, before all band together to freeze it closed again. all former high lords of winter rest in the frozen lake beneath the winter court's seat of power. it is the highest honour to be laid to rest there, an honour the dozens of children amarantha had killed were offered. some families accepted, some chose to bury them with their parents.
day:
is it creepy that the day court has a massive underground graveyard with rows and rows of graveslots over and around each other? you could get lost in it if you take the wrong door out of one of their libraries.
(they also lowkey give me cannibalism vibes)
dawn:
think boromir in lord of the rings. they have giant waterfalls in the mountains of the dawn court that seemingly end nowhere. you can hike up the mountain and see where it starts but there is no place at the bottom of it where the water crashes on the plains. they simply disappear into nothing, and all technical contraptions and living people that tried to figure out where the waterfalls went by rowing down themselves disappear without a trace, never to be seen or heard from again. thesan also banned inventors from creating their own caskets with gadgets after one exploded with the corpse inside, gravely injuring two of the fae who carried it and horrifying the people that had come to grieve the loss of their friend.
night:
the citizens of the hewn city live, die and are buried under the mountain. the lower levels of the city, even lower than the dungeons, are mostly one giant tomb. night court royalty and other important people have separate tombs for their families. there is a space already reserved for rhysand when the time comes, in the same tomb as his father, his father's father, and every generation before them. other people of the night court opt for simple burials in the ground, some towns have caves to fill the purpose of a graveyard. illyrians prefer cremations. they refuse to be tethered to the earth even in death, and it is custom for families to scatter the ashes in flight over their beloved mountains. yet rhysand's mother and sister lay crushed beneath the mountain at the late high lord's behest, without wings, without air, without the freedom they craved so much.

Happy Bachelor finale day to those who celebrate! In honor (and for anyone else who also loves the absolute trashy trainwreck that is the Bachelor franchise), I thought I'd share the ACOTAR Bachelor in Paradise AU I've been mulling over:
Emerie and Cresseida are the couple that instantly clicks and then chills the whole season while watching all the drama unfold (think: Kevin/Astrid or Noah/Abigail (pre producer driven drama))
Nesta and Cassian kind of hit it off first day but then Eris comes down to the beach with a date card and sweeps her off her feet. As a result, Cassian and Eris become the two dudes that almost throw hands every season (Aaron and Ivan kind of fight anyone?)
Feyre and Tamlin are the couple you think are strong but then have that stupid conversation that happens every season of "I want you to explore all your options" which results in Feyre agreeing to a date with Rhysand and well.... we all know who Feyre gives her rose to after that
Azriel is the token Bachelor in Paradise Fuckboi™ who leaves a trail of broken hearts. First, Mor. Then Elain. Finally, he sorts his shit out when Gwyn comes down to the beach
After Elain gives Azriel her rose at that first rose ceremony and whatever other typical Bachelor drama happens, Mor gives her rose to Cassian as a friendship rose so he can have another chance with Nesta. Then maybe she self eliminates? I feel like the friendship rose person always ends up self eliminating every season
Lucien is that person every season who only goes to the beach for one person. In this case, Elain. The only reason he gets to stick around is Amren is uninterested in everyone else and she's lowkey a romantic and rooting for him so she gives him her rose (but threatens to kill him if he tells anyone why)

lowkey conflicted about the whole “bringing old characters back in new dlcs and chapters” cause like
most of these old characters are cresseidas friends so i feel like she’s the one that has to go through that storyline instead of letting my other ocs have the spotlight which sucks cause i do want to play more with them and develop them further but also i feel robbed if cresseida doesn’t catch up with her friends. but also most of the time nowadays if cresseida is the one to go through the storyline she often feels out of place

Cresseida al-Bergama
im starting to make oc posts so i can make an official oc page starting with cresseida using this template by tumblr user jessaryss with some tweaks here and there. They said anyone can use it and personalize it for themselves so if y’all want to use this feel free to!
BASICS
Name: Cresseida al-Bergama
Nicknames: She doesn’t like to go by any nicknames, just Cresseida, though close friends can call her Cress. Do grand titles count as nicknames? If so then Vestige, Champion, etc. etc.
Race: Redguard, demiprince of Clavicus Vile, though it’s lowkey, she’s human-passing
Age: 24 in the base game, 28 in Summerset, 30 right now (2020)
Pronouns: She/Her
Eyes: Dull gray without her soul, silver with her soul back
Hair: Curly and poofy, dark reddish brown
Skin: Brown with a lot of random freckles and moles
Height: 5′2 (tiny baby uwu)
General Physique: Very muscular especially arms and thighs and back. i wouldn’t say she’s skinny more sculpted really
Tattoos, War paints, Scars?: has a large gray scar right in the middle of her chest. the magic on mannimarco’s dagger was so corrupted it left a deep mark on her new body in addition to the old one, as if it was some dark and traumatic memory imprinted on her skin. she also has a dark daedric mark on her back that reveals her daedric background but her mom lied and told her it was just a birthmark lmao
About
Werewolf/Vampire?: none
Occupation: savior of tamriel
Guild Associations: mages guild, undaunted enclave, psijic order
Favored Weapon Class/Type: her whole life cresseida was trained in the art of sword and shield but as she started to not fear her magic and train and hone it she switched to a lightning staff. now she uses it exclusively but she still trains with the sword and has also trained to fight nonmagically with her staff
Favored School of Magic/Type: Dark magic, conjuration, destruction, specifically storm and lightning. she has persuasion abilities from clavicus vile: people tend to immediately trust her, feel calmer in her presence. she’s good at bargaining and persuading people to make a choice over the other. also like vile she has her own daedric companion, her clannifear
Heavy/Light/Medium Armor? Clothes?: despite being a mage ingame with light armor in reality she prefers heavy armor, though she slowly starts to wear some light armor as she trusts people more and gets less closed off
Place of Birth: Bergama
Place Where they were Raised: with a group of nomads led by her aunt and mother who travelled all over Hammerfell in caravans
Current Location: her current home is in Wayrest though she is getting slowly used to her plane of oblivion (ingame its the psijic manor on artaeum)
Education/Place of Study: was mostly educated by her mother and books, then after her family was killed she was raised by throne keeper  Farvad at Tu’whacca’s temple then trained for a bit with the sword masters at Leki’s Blade
Personal
Patron Deity (if any): Meridia, Sheogorath, Clavicus Vile (not really a patron but more of just a pain in the ass cause he’s her father)
Political Alliance (if any): Daggerfall Covenant
Strongest Skills: beating up daedric princes, fighting, magic
Strengths: very protective, will go to hell and back for the people she loves. kind despite her initial reluctance to help out, she’s not one to turn people away who need help. persuasive and she easily wins people over through her actions. levelheaded most of the time.
Weaknesses: prone to angry outbursts. sometimes she can lose control of her storms. reckless, she thinks she can’t be killed (again) and it causes her to rush headfirst into danger. always insists on handling things on her own. thinks too black and white, she is always learning how it’s not always this or that
Spouses? Flings? Lovers?: cresseida was never interested in love as she was too hellbent on getting revenge on those who killed her home and family, and later on stopping molag bal and mannimarco, and most of her life she refused to open up to anyone, secretly afraid of them getting taken from her. darien was one of her first friends, and the way she came to care so much about him caught her by surprise
Most difficult quest they’ve been on: taking on nocturnal after watching darien die right in front of her
Jail Time: none she’s a good noodle (unless you count coldharbour...?)
Largest Bounty Held: none. crime is wrong and she’ll kill you if she sees you doing it
How do they get gold?: selling random loot off her dead enemies and doing things for people
Are werebeings and vampires Vile Creatures or Simply Misunderstood?: she used to loath vampires until she met Verandis and was proved how such creatures can choose to do good and be trusted. she has yet to meet a good werewolf though
Goals in Life: protect tamriel and its inhabitants *thumbs up*
Deepest Regret: not trying hard enough to hunt down her family’s killers (despite being like 12 at the time lol), not trying hard enough to look for anyone who survived like her cousin Rafiyah who turned out to have been alive this whole time, not telling Darien how she felt sooner
Greatest Hope: despite all the hell she has gone through, looking back, so much good has happened. she has traveled to so many beautiful and astonishing places and met so many wonderful people that would not have happened had she stayed in Hammerfell
Flaws: oh i accidentally put these under weaknesses lol oh well they’re kinda similar
Fears: losing. letting evil win. although she’s super confident in her abilities there is always that one shred of doubt that she won’t win this time. also she’s afraid of losing the friends she’s made, especially her cousin
What makes them happy: being with Rafiyah, petting her clannfear, her cooked food, seeing a daedric prince lose miserably at her hands, running into her old friends in new places unexpectedly
Hobbies: Despite her cold outwards appearance and her reputation as a powerful hero, cresseida loves to cook and sew. her mother was a seamstress and cress learned a lot from her
Favorite Locations: daggerfall, bergama, all of summerset, ARTAEUM
Eating Habits: the standard three meals a day, though she tends to forget to eat when she’s busy on quests. she does bring a lot of snacks tho for when she’s on the road or in a plane of oblivion, ya know, the usual
Can they cook?: Yes and she’s amazing at it. too bad almost no one knows...
Favorite Food: idk ive never thought about that. most likely something that reminds her of eating around the campfires with the other caravaneers when she was young
Favorite Drink: Tea. She hates alcohol btw
First thing they do at a tavern?: Get a room so she can unpack and wind down in private
Sleeping habits: On her side, back towards the wall if there is one, sword/staff close by. her clannfear sleeps at her feet on alert the whole time
Cities or the Wilds?: cities. through her many adventures cresseida has developed a fondness for the people she has reluctantly sworn to protect, and seeing civilians stumble about their lives reminds her of what she has to do.
Pet Peeves: people who waste her time, liars, cowards, people who talk a lot and very loudly
Describe their bedroom or home: pretty bare, she has always been a minimalist who packs lightly cause she never stays in one place
Opinions on daedra: very easy to hate them once coldharbour happened, though after she found out she was a demiprince while she was in the alik’r it really turned her world upside down.
