Relationships are all about compromise and communication. If you want different things but refuse to talk about it, you’re far more likely to get stuck in a situation where you’re both unhappy. Be vulnerable with each other, be honest about what you want for yourself, and seek an answer where you’ll both be better off. This won’t always be a desirable process or have an ideal answer, but it is always better to try than automatically give in to the idea that it’s impossible.

i think when people hear gift giving as a love language they think oh you’re greedy and money-minded but that’s not true at all. gift me flowers you picked on the way home while thinking of me. gift me a scrapbook you made of all our silly little adventures together. gift me a cd you put all of our favorite songs on. gift me love in such a considerate form.

not to be dramatic but i think being in love when it's unrequited is like taking a stroll in some of the most beautiful moors you've ever seen and you feel so elated until suddenly you realise you've wandered too far and this otherworldly black hound emerges from the mist and you know you should run but you're captivated and you just keep taking steps towards it until suddenly it's got you pinned down and it's slowly devouring your organs, more specifically your heart, and your blood is staining its teeth and you think maybe you should run, grab a stick and jam it into its throat, because surely there are other meadows you can visit but this hound is a fairy, this hound is magical in ways you didn't even believe to be true until its breath sends goose bumps down your spine, and you're being devoured but now all you can think is how beautiful it is and what an honour it is to be here, despite despite despite
