“Just draw the out.”
This is the iconic statement used when faced against an impossible scenario, that the more skilled Duelist will simply draw the correct cards in the correct order in order to win. Of course, no one really takes this seriously. However, the statement reveals something about Duel Monsters, about the card game that dominates so much of our life: a Duel is always won before it's ever even begun.
Archetype choice, Deck building, and the order the Deck is shuffled in determines who will win even before the Duel even begins. There is almost no real choice made in the matter. Of course, choosing which cards are played first, which cards to search for, and which monsters to summon also play a role in winning the duel. Timing is a skill. But, in truth, these are all already determined by the Deck you’re playing.
For instance, it’s fairly obvious that a Law of the Normal Deck would stand no chance against something that was clearly meta warping such as a Dragon Ruler Deck. One continuously gained infinite advantage turn after turn while the other is filled with nothing but low-Level Normal Monsters. It’s no secret that in order to render the Dragon Rulers unplayable, all but Tempest was banned from the game. Even then, Tempest was limited. Thus, in a Law of the Normal versus Dragon Ruler matchup, even if it weren't a Traditional Duel, the Dragon Rulers win a hundred percent of the time.
Even when Decks use the same base archetypes, the win lies in the secondary archetype. In the Tenyi Swordsoul versus Tenyi Adventurer matchup, assuming both decks were back to full power, the Swordsoul player clearly has the advantage. Not only does Tenyi Swordsoul have easy Synchro access, Tenyi Adventurer fundamentally lacks the proper means to deal with the grind game. Deal with Fateful Adventure, ban Gryphon Rider and what does the deck do? Nothing.
This gets even worse when you get into mirror matches. Which is better? A D/D/D deck that runs Effect Veiler or Infinite Impermanence? That's right, it’s fundamentally the one that runs Effect Veiler. Not only is he a Monster Card, allowing one to use him as cost for One for One in order to Special Summon D/D Savant Kepler from the Deck, he's also a Tuner. Being a Tuner he can be, in a pinch, used to Synchro Summon.
Oftentimes, a young person believes they have the capability to become a great Duelist, the Duel Monarch even, if they just believe in the so-called “heart of the cards” but the reality is simple: those who are skilled will simply draw the out. Because those who are skilled have built their Deck in a way that allows it to consistently draw outs. Because those who are skilled know how to properly play their outs.
In short, those who simply tell others to “just draw the out” and “believe in the heart of the cards” without further elaboration should just have their souls banished to hell.

Mortal Kombat AU - early lore details
The tournament was proposed by both Raiden and Jerrod to the Elder Gods after forseeing visions of an impending armageddon of the realms caused by Shao Kahn.
The Elder Gods decree that two realms must compete in ten tournaments once every generation. If Outworld wins ten victories, they can conquer and invade the opposing realm.
Raiden is actually a loyal ally to both Jerrod and Sindel, and both Earthrealm and Edenia are aligned against Shao Kahn's reign of Outworld.
During the battle between Outworld and Edenia, Sindel gives birth to Kitana, and Jerrod hopes to train her as a great warrior and princess capable of defending her home realm.
Unfortunately, Edenia loses ten tournaments, and in the final battle, Shao Kahn kills Jerrod. Not only is Edenia merged with Outworld, but Shao Kahn takes Sindel as his queen.
Refusing to put up with his tyranny, Sindel drives herself to suicide, but Shao Kahn plans for his shadow priests led by Quan Chi and Shang Tsung to resurrect her soul under their dark magic if all else fails.
Shang Tsung used to be a warrior of Earthrealm’s Order of Light until he was seduced by Shao Kahn's dark magic. At one point, Shang Tsung met a sorceress named Omegis in Earthrealm, but after her death, he blamed Raiden, and thus began Shang Tsung’s corruption into a cursed sorcerer who thirsts for human souls.
In preparations for the Mortal Kombat tournaments between Earthrealm and Outworld, Raiden found his champion in a noble monk named Kung Lao (or The Great Kung Lao, if you will). Despite being chosen to defend Earthrealm, all Kung Lao wanted in life was to live in peace with Jen, a woman whom he began a relationship with.
Kung Lao won the tournament against Shang Tsung, but while his victory preserved safety for Earthrealm, it also granted stunted immortality for Kung Lao, meaning that he wouldn't age until the next tournament, and that his loved ones would grow old and die naturally before he can.
With Jen and the rest of his allies dead or retired, Kung Lao had no choice but to compete in the next tournament. Unfortunately, for Kung Lao and Earthrealm, he would be killed by the four armed beast Goro.
Goro would dominate Mortal Kombat for nine generations. If he wins this final tournament, Earthrealm will fall like Edenia before it.

Wonderful Precure Episode 4 Review - Meet The Nekoyashikis
Oh my gosh, Mayu’s mother Sumire is beautiful. And she’s voiced by Chiwa Saito, meaning she’s Homura Akemi and Yona. That’s a crazy choice to have for a mother character and I’m rolling with it. It’s interesting to see what the Nekoyashiki family will bring to the story now that Mayu and the cat Yuki are introduced. Iroha’s mom Yuko and Sumire are really pretty. I wonder if Satoru’s mom will be pretty too…
Mayu is very socially awkward. She gets anxious around people and it stems from her being a loner at her old school. Her only source of comfort is being around her mom and Yuki. Fortunately, meeting Iroha at the grand opening of Pretty Holic has her hope that she’ll be good friends with her. I’ve seen people make comparisons to Kokone. While they are similar, their reservedness are different. Kokone doesn’t tense up or care too much about her solitude as she preferred being alone. Only when she started befriending Yui that her awkwardness started showing. She was still willing to talk to people and doesn’t shy away when conversing. Mayu, on the other hand, is a mess when it comes to talking to people. So yeah, while both are reserved, they’re different.
Yuki is a typical cat, but I do like how her and Mayu’s relationship differs from Iroha and Komugi’s. The Inukais have it to where Iroha is like Komugi’s not-that-much-older sister while the Nekoyashikis feel like Yuki is the much older sister to Mayu. I like seeing a different type of relationship with the main duo. I also really like the interaction between Komugi and Yuki with Yuki behaving like a typical cat; she even did the tail slap, a sign that cats are stressed. My favorite part of the episode was Yuki punching Komugi for getting too close. I can tell these two are gonna be hilarious once Yuki gains the ability to change into a human.
Pretty Holic makes a return in this show as it did in previous iterations. It was a hybrid stationery shop in Hirogaru Sky and a makeup shop in Delicious Party that Kokone is a fan of. In this iteration, it is a makeup shop that Mayu’s family runs. The fact that this is the emptiest Pretty Holic I’ve seen so far is saying something…. I also like how Sumire forbids pets from entering. In the case of dogs, the cosmetic scent could be harmful to them and that they could accidentally swallow small items. This is very smart to inform. I watched an anime called Dog Signal where the main character Miyu tells a client to stop wearing perfume when around her dog as it can ruin their sense of smell. I know that pet owners want to bring their pets everywhere, but in cases like these, one has to think about their pets’ safety. Also, I love how Komugi is spewing confidential information to Yuki about herself while Sumire and the three granny customers are at hearing distance. This is like Yui, Rosemary and Pam-Pam rambling about Kome-Kome and Recipeppi stuff when Takumi is right in front of them in Episode 3 of Delicious Party.
Iroha and Komugi are tasked to search for more GaruGarus. Special Niko Animals, ones with sparkling jewels on them, are called Kirarin Animals and collecting nine of them will restore Niko Garden back to its former glory. However, I do think Iroha and Komugi’s tendency to ignore Mey Mey is a bit of an issue that hopefully will be addressed later on. I get that Komugi has a short attention span because she’s a dog, but Iroha, a human, should take these Niko Garden matters seriously and not drop everything onto Satoru. Speaking of which, Iroha just seems like someone who can’t lie or pay attention. She could’ve easily said that Komugi is her sister or a relative, but she just flubs hard with that and she even gives the impression that she’s a bad dog owner because of this. I know this is a kids’ show and I shouldn’t take this too seriously, but sometimes, the writing can be a bit asinine. I just hope that someone, whether it be a Precure, Mey Mey, or a villain, will call Iroha out on not paying attention to important details.
I like the relationship between Mey Mey and Satoru. A few episodes ago, Mey Mey had a bias towards outsiders, but now Satoru is his favorite child. It’s like night and day now. It’s adorable how clingy he is towards Satoru and the boy is even his emotional support. The fact that Mey Mey has a sheep-shaped smart phone is adorable as heck; he uses it to call Satoru when he’s upset. Cute.
Now, with the scene with the GaruGaru, I did like that it was foreshadowed that the GaruGaru of the day would be a Tanuki as there was a shot to three unhappy Tanuki in the beginning and how Komugi put on eyeshadow around her eyes like one. I was surprised that Friendy knew about Tanuki behavioral patterns… Despite that, the Tanuki GaruGaru is the first small one they encountered as previous ones were large. This means that their sizes vary and that some could even be difficult to purify due to their size and speed. Now the question is…will GaruGarus be just mammals or will there be insects and sea creatures too?
For now, this was a cute episode of fully introducing Mayu and Yuki into the story. When will they start school? When will Yuki and Mayu become Precures? I’m honestly anticipating the next episode. What are your thoughts on this episode?

Bengal: Ocelot picked that tattoo for him, it was traditional from his culture and it was cause they are besties, this way he keeps his boy band members with him
Meyra: its the crest of her house which she tries to hide

Brid: Many just assume... that Odel is the dorm leader and ignore her... she can't seem to get authority and people barely remember her She really struggles with that
Barry: Many people are aware of his arrogance and to many students he is a bother, there is a few who do give him the time and popularity because he basically bought them to be his underlings but aside that… many are annoyed
Osyron and Lydia: Hella scary to many students, they barely see the gods and if don't know if talking to them won't get them in trouble.
Kuze: Many students see him as the junior, the Dorm leader that doesn't seem like one and instinctly would approach Yasuno more about dorm stuff… so he is liked but not really respected
Erena: Given most see her as a chaotic adventurer other students also are not convinced untill she talks with them and you see how much charisma she has as a dorm leader and how to win her over well... She just wants fun and is a capable fighter in itself
Flynn: As said he has a fanclub and many admirers but that is also true for Nanoya and Rubina, many know about his sketchyness and warn not to reveal too much to him.
Peko: A lot of fans and big popularity among many students hence haters are quickly silenced… or at least yelled at by supporters… however higher year students often know how lazy as dorm leader she is and admire Emma more
Tyler: Not many outside the dorm see him much but they often call him grumpy and many also just don't want to face his anger so he is only approached by people who know him, dorm members or fashionable to model students
Gabrielle: Many Students admire her and cheer for her, also has a small fanclub and is highly respected among the campus. Its really hard to raise a voice against her.
Aiden: Aside doing his dorm duty a loner and avoided cause of his criminal record, only dorm members really approach him… and some Exodus students cause of Kayne as well as some Valhunny students
Sindren: Some are annoyed by the hero act, others admire her, some try to gain her favour cause of her money but Mythra shoes those away
Dragiselle: the most secluded Dorm leader… Inessa does most of her task so not many met her, serves a similar Role to Malleus that not many have seen her at all... but in her case its protect others from her powers

My Duel Academy Life is Wrong as I Expected Chapter 2 - We Opened the Map of Youth and, on a Ship without a Compass, Headed to Uncharted Waters

Series Summary: Having zero passion for Dueling or even Duel Monsters, Hachiman Hikigaya is the last person you would expect to even attempt to enter the most elite high school for upcoming Pro-Duelists and Card Designers in Japan and yet here he is. Wielding an Ojama Deck, this loser loner is forced to but into the lives of other students after his dorm Resident Advisor, forces him to join the Service Club along with Yukino Yukinoshita, the Ice Queen of Obelisk Blue. Together, their clashing personalities and viewpoints must compromise as they attempt to solve problems around Duel Academy Island.
Chapter Summary: Having passed the Duel Academy Admission Test, Hachiman Hikigaya heads to Duel Academy Island where he watches the school year's inaugural Duel between Yukino Yukinoshita, the freshmen representative, and Meguri Shiromeguri, the student council president, and the subsequent aftermath of such a Duel.

The Duel Academy entrance ceremony was the same as any other senior high school entrance ceremony: a long, boring speech by the superintendent and a long, boring speech by the person who got the highest score in the admission test.
“Thank you,” Yukino Yukinoshita, the supposed smartest and most talented student of our batch, concluded her speech. With icy blue eyes, stormy black hair, and skin like freshly fallen snow, there wasn't a single girl more objectively beautiful than her even if she was lacking something. Well, she was the most objectively beautiful girl in Duel Academy. I was certain my own super cute little sister cleared her by light years.
Just as people were beginning to clap, she interrupted them with an icy glare and a cold voice, “Now the inaugural Duel of the school year between me, the freshman student representative, and the student council president, Meguri Shiromeguri.”
Of course. This was Duel Academy.
She went off to one side, putting on her royal blue Obelisk Duel Disk and Duel Gazer, as a girl with shoulder-length brown hair in braids, with similar Duel gear, entered the stage.
Yukinoshita bowed her head, saying something.
The President said something back, smiling.
Yukinoshita twitched.
They both readied their Duel Disks as everyone put their Duel Gazers on.
“Advanced Duel!” they both shouted, as my Duel Gazer connected to their Duel and mics.
“The freshman always begins, Yukino!” the President said.
“Thank you, President Shiromeguri,” Yukinoshita said. “Draw Phase. Standby Phase. Main Phase 1. I’ll start by Normal Summoning Sky Striker Ace – Raye.”
A young blonde girl in a white school uniform appeared on her field.
“A Sky Striker Deck, huh?” the President said aloud. “That's a Midrange Spell Deck.” She closed her eyes, crossed her arms, and tapped her feet. “Something, something… a low floor but a high ceiling, huh?”
It was expected for our batch’s number one. The Sky Striker archetype is a Deck that truly discriminates. Its consistency and ability to have every out is nearly unmatched but virtually useless in unskilled hands.
Opening her eyes she exclaimed, “You really are Haruno’s little sister!”
I stared at the video feed of Yukinoshita, examining her. The way her eye twitched and her lips lightly pursed. The way she placed her hand on her chest as she lightly breathed.
“I’ll use Sky Striker Ace – Raye,” she continued, “to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku.”
A Link Circuit appeared over her Left Extra Monster Zone. Raye, instead of turning into a red arrow and going to the top right Link Arrow, jumped through the Circuit. She was suddenly wearing a white bodysuit as the Shizuku blue mech armour started attaching itself onto her body.
“I set four cards face-down.”
Her cards had Neko Mane King sleeves, a clear intimidation tactic.
“End Phase,” Yukinoshita declared. “I use the Monster Effect of Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku to add Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to my hand.”
And now the combo was complete. Her set Spells would cripple the President and, next turn, Engage would get the exact card she’d need. Depending on what the President played, Yukinoshita basically already won the Duel.
