OKAY OKAY but the way Louis is split in two with both Claudia and Lestat trying to vie for his attention, for his love, but Claudia is able to jump into his mind, to ask him to come with her without Lestat hearing, and that’s the moment Lestat calls him Lou, because he sees him looking towards her and he has no idea what she’s telling him but he knows he’s losing him to her. And how that desperation immediately turns to rage, to blame, to accusation. By turning them both, he’s turned them both against him, he can’t read them, can’t understand them as deeply as they understand each other, and it’s only when Claudia says out loud so he can hear exactly what she wants him to: Come with me. Let’s be vampires worthy of your love. That he truly snaps.
Lestat knows he’s lost. Has known it for all the time Louis had spent searching restlessly for Claudia’s mind.
And the conclusion to this rage, with Lestat and Louis flown out far into the sky, so far away that Lestat hopes no other mind can reach Louis’. So that Claudia can’t hear. So that they’re truly alone. And he finally admits just how deeply his love for Louis reaches, and just how fine a thread he’s been clinging to coming to terms with the fact that perhaps Louis doesn’t love him, may never have loved him, in the way that he loves him.
And yet even in that moment with Louis half drained and gasping the frigid thin air, with Lestat begging him to just admit it, that he doesn’t love him, Louis... doesn’t. Instead he says let go of me. And I wonder, perhaps, what Lestat hears in that, what those words connote for him. Is Louis only asking to be put down, or is he asking Lestat to let go of this obsession with him? That change in Lestat’s eyes, the bitterness of not getting a solid answer but still coming to some sort of conclusion sells it for him. So, when he drops Louis, it’s as performative as any other gesture.
He may want Louis to feel that he is done with him, but that will never be true.

I've never done a fic rec list before but A Meal to Remember seemed like a good opportunity to start. In no particular order.
One of our reportes is missing by angstosaur. IWTV crossover with The Newsreader. Rated M. Louis/Lestat/Armand, Helen/Dale, Dale/Tim, Helen&Tim.
Louis sees Dale Jennings on the News and travels all the way to Australia to figure out what the hell Lestat is up to now. Obviously the logical way to go about this is break into the guys appartment and kidnap him.
This is just the best thing I've read in ages. The epic clash of firmly rooted in reality Newsreader and 'consequences aren't real if you're immortal' vampire world should not work as well as it does and it's a real joy to read. I particularly loved how beutifully the relationship between Tim and Helen was handled, as well as Louis getting to know Dale and seeing a lot of similarities between them I didn't expect to be there vs the chaos thrupple at peak insanity being generally horny and incompetent. It also has one of the greatest entrances of a character I've come across in a long time.
Renaissance by siahatha. Post canon. Rated M; Louis/Lestat
Louis and Lestat trying to make their relationship work in the modern day after Lestat spend a few decades in therapy. Louis still has some ways to go in that regard.
Deals a lot with Lestat's mania and Louis eating disorder. Also involves some genderfuckery.
Something about this one just really grabbed me. There are a lot of really cute moments that just show really well why Loustat are so great when they work and the heavy moments scatch that itch of 'why can't they just talk to each other' by putting them in a place where they can do that while still being true to their characters.
Practical Ethics by @prouvaireafterdark. Human AU. Rated E; Armand/Daniel, Louis/Lestat.
The famous Ethics Professor Louis fic. I tend to think of it as the Philosophy Student Armand fic but, eh, semantics.
So much fun to read and such a great set up. Strikes the perfect balance of keeping the characters who they are, especially with regards to Armand and his trauma, while toning the insanity to levels that wouldn't get them institutionalised in the real world.
And what I thought was gone by @nalyra-dreaming. Reunion fic. Rated E; Louis/Lestat.
Basically the part of TVL between Lestat putting out Rock videos and Louis coming to him from Louis perspective, set the amc universe. And then the reunion.
Nalyra has such a great way of getting into these character's heads. The journey from Louis thinking Lestat is still dead to realising he isn't to getting his hands on the videos and the book to finding him to them talking things out is so beautiful and emotional.
The Human Perspective by @bandedbulbussnarfblat. Part 1 of The Human Condition series. Rated T; Daniel/Armand.
Armand talks to Daniel about a mortal he once loved, whose memories he had to take so he could live a life.
Another one that hit me right in the feels. The longing! The dramatic irony! Having Daniel comment as an outsider on his own relationship is such a clever thing to do and very well executed.
Reformation by verseau.
Human AU. Rated E. Louis/Lestat.
Just Louis and Lestat being Louis and Lestat really. And Claudia. But make it human.
That is really the best compliment I can give: If those two were modern day humans this is what their relationship would be like: chaotic, toxic, destructive, co-dependent, full of issues, hang ups, addictions and love bordering on insanity. And brilliantly done, too. Pretty much all the trauma is acounted for and makes sense (in a human context), we get differnt POVs all perfectly in character and each giving interesting insights into their family and the different issues they run into over the course of their relationship.

would love to hear your thoughts on the trailer :) I don't know what thoughts I'm looking for, I guess just general ones, but also the thigns you're excited for and all that
I have to admit, I've only actually watched through the trailer about three times, it makes me feel genuinely insane. we're getting this piece of art this year !!!!
In all seriousness, my thoughts are all over the place (in an overall good way). I'm curious and excited and terrified and crying at all the Louis and Armand things. The part at the beginning where Daniel asks if they're going to finish each other's sentences the whole time, how they've been sitting on the couch in all the clips we've gotten so far, the 'We've been together for 77 years,' the kiss (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), the cheek kiss (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), the strange scene we've seen once or twice where it looks like a kiss might have happened but Louis seems to faint afterward, etc. etc. It's all so much and I have known since s1 ended that Louis and Armand's love story was going to leave me fulfilled and devastated all at once and it feels utterly confirmed in this trailer. I think they're still so in love, in so many ways, and I think it can't, won't, shouldn't work out and it makes me so sad, I can't wait to be heartbroken and destroyed watching it. I will say, though, seeing all the clips of them does make me curious about the future of Loumand. Louis leaves Lestat for Armand again at one point and I have thoughts and ideas on potentiality for that in the future of the show, depending on how long it goes on. Regarding Louis himself, I'm just -- so in awe of Jacob Anderson, as per usual. Louis is the most interesting, beautiful, enrapturing thing on the screen and everything is better when it comes back to him, always. The 'It's you and me' clip, with all the flashes of Louis and other people, all returning to Louis, just !!! it's him. He's everything. It's all so much better when it comes back to him, we're so lucky. In terms of Claudia, Delainey seems to have this grasp/concept of Claudia that has me shaking. Her Claudia is everything to me already. I know lots of people have talked about it, but Claudia's ghost being a part of some later stories feels so much more doable with Delainey and I hope, in some capacity, that comes true. The 1700s stuff scares me a little, but only because it appears we're getting a lot more of it than I was anticipating this season. I expected some, absolutely, and when we got Nicki casting confirmation I was like, "Oh, we're getting the 1700s for real," but the trailer is a lot of 1700s and it scares me for a couple of reasons, namely that -- once again -- we're not getting Lestat's POV of it so there is the toss-up of 'how did he see this play out though' that will somehow have to be addressed in later seasons. It also scares me a little because Gabrielle has to be there, right??? Did they cast Gabrielle and manage to keep it a secret???????????? That's wild. But in reality, it scares me too because I hope we're not living too far in the 1700s this season. I know it's important and I know Armand was there so it makes total sense, but I feel like we're already treading a lot of waters with 1) The life in New Orleans that can only be told by Louis 2) the life in New Orleans after the arrival of Lestat 3) the life in New Orleans once Claudia was brought into the family 4) all the time spent getting to Europe/exploring Eastern Europe (basically, anything pre-Paris) 5) early Paris 6) Paris once Louis and Claudia and the future of their being together starts to play out 7) the trial 6) San Fransisco from what Daniel will inevitably start to remember 7) San Fran from what Louis remembers 8) San Fran from Armand, who might be our most aware of that entire time 9) Dubai pre-Armand knowledge 10) Dubai now. Like, I know a lot of those are paired up (You could categorize it simply as 1) New Orleans 2) Pre-Paris 3) Paris 4) San Fran 5) Dubai) and that cuts it in half, but given all the POV bits we get, that's just not the case. Adding yet another time period in here is just. So much. (It also scares me because I think some fans have expectations of several different things in 1700s that I don't think will happen/can happen/at least definitely not this season happen and I'm readying for the 'WAIT BUT' and the bitching etc.)
The Loustat stuff will utterly ruin me this season. It's going to be gut-wrenching. The hallucinations, the possible reunion that it appears we see, the modern New Orleans skyline, the way that Louis seemingly will talk about Lestat in a way that makes Armand seem to feel not as loved (this is a speculation based solely on the "Lestat, Lestat, Lestat, Lestat, Lestat" scene, I have SO many thoughts on that and of Armand there, god, I'm nauseous with it). I need to find my post about it, but I made a post either during s1 airing or immediately after (definitely by Nov. 2022) about how I think we'll get some kind of complete Loustat confirmation of sorts this season and by s3, they will be back together and will stay together. I have lots of reasons and thoughts on that as well. Anyway, I will cry endlessly about them this season, I know it.
I LOVE the hallucinations. I mean, when we knew that was definitely happening while s2 filming was going on, I was already excited, but seeing it just !!!!!!!!!!! it's so good. I can't even put into words how excited I am about the hallucinations of Lestat. Oh my god. Louis. The theatre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Santiago looks fucking insane, god bless Ben Daniels, and I'm excited to get to actually know some characters from the theatre. It's something that doesn't really happen at all in the movie, and it's definitely not a focus or anything in the IwtV book. But I love side characters, I think they'll fill in some space that the Azalea had in s1 and I love that.
If Justin Kirk is David, that's the one thing that is going to piss me off this season. I honestly, truly 100%, thought we might not get David and I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo more than okay with that. I hate David so much and don't think he serves any kind of plot purpose and he remains to be a shitty replacement for Louis that never worked out and was completely insignificant by the end of the series. Now, if they don't do some of the wild shit with him and make him solely some kind of tie-in/draw to the new Talamasca show they're doing, then fine. But if they start attempting to make him a love interest, I might legit tap out, I can't stand that man. At least Marius is vital to the stories, we truly can't get Akasha or Lestat or Armand without Marius. David................oh my god, die already. San Fran SCARES ME. It's one of those things that, sure, obviously we know how it goes in the book, but they have flipped it so heavily on its head, I can't predict anything and it's exciting and horrifying. Armand being there, the seemingly-more-than-one-night interview, the interview ending by the time Louis was only halfway done with the story, the brief scene that appears to be Armand looking worried at something (maybe Daniel) while Louis is floating/levitating (!!!!!!!!?) in the back, etc. Oh my god. I think we're in the wildest ride there. Um. Louis and Claudia turning Madeline together........
Louis' men not being shitttttttttttttttttttt. Every time I do see gifs or see clips or something, and I see that quick scene of Lestat walking through the audience (Sam Reid's silhouette is insane, those broad shoulders, that profile????????????? He's so hot I'm feral about him) and Louis is on the stage, next to Claudia and Madeline, and you can see where Lestat's chair is next to Louis, but further away, on the stage.......................bitch, you're really letting them do that to Louis and walking through the crowd, telling your story??? And Armand, bitch?????? You're really letting them do that to Louis, just sitting there watching it play out, having taken Louis and Claudia and Madeline out just before???????????????? They're not SHIT, Louis deserves better, always has. I need to stop rambling, but lastly, the thing I already made a quick post about, but the fact that I do obviously recognize things from the book but none of it is quite how it seems..........I'm obsessed. This show is literally like....okay, like asking someone to summarize the book for you and they say, "The book is about a vampire named Louis de Pointe du Lac who tells his life story to a young reporter in 1970s San Fran. His story details how he became a vampire, how he fell in love with his maker, the Vampire Lestat, how they created and took in the child vampire Claudia, how Louis and Claudia killed Lestat, how they went to Paris and met a theatre group of vampires, and Louis fell in love with the leader Armand. It also details the inevitable and tragic death of Claudia at the hands of this theatre, and how that death left Louis utterly changed." And you're like "Oh okay" but the details aren't all there so they just...............filled in their own, and we get this masterpiece of a story that is the bones of the book, and made what it is by time and care. Idk. I love that we're all on an equilibrium.
OH. I'm also holding out, but not anticipating sadly, some Loustat flashbacks. I need them. I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo in need of it, you have no idea.

🔥 + Lestat (Try to change my mind about him, lol)
From the Honest opinion ask game!
OH BOY THIS WILL BE BIG. GET READY.
To sum up: I think Lestat is a great character, but Anne Rice's obsession with narrative exposition depending on him ruined him for a large portion of the franchise.
My main point of contention with Lestat is that his personality, struggles and issues feel very real, and I really connect with his feeling of alienation despite how hard he tries to connect and build relationships around people, however... He is not allowed to breathe. And he's not allowed to grow and develop as a character for like... books on end.
We're meant to sympathise with a character who says he's alone, only for the next page to show every vampire ever introduced... Loves him, admires him and wants to help him. This is bad because it cheapens the act for the characters where it makes sense they would love him, but what makes it all positively cruel is that for the largest portion of the franchise, everyone's love is discarded fairly quickly for the next best thing on the following book. He connects with Louis at the end of every book... Then they're gone. He is advised by Marius... And ignores it. He's offered Armand/David's help... And refuses it.
If you're used to absorbing literature from a writer's perspective, it's easier to see why this happens (I'll get to it), but to the regular reader, it just reads like to Lestat, nobody is good enough to stay, to advise... To be with him, and so no lesson seems to stick. You can't even shackle that down to "Oh, he's young/forever a 20s something" in a meta sense because that's instantly contradicted with Armand (who does grow and mature despite being forever age-locked), and fucking Benji. Many don't like books after Queen of the Damned, and I can't blame them because it feels like despite every other character around him changing and having their own journeys, Lestat's development feels far more static in comparison.
And so we're left with the cold harsh truth of why Lestat is perpetually bratty and lonely: the narrative needs him that way.
Anne has to keep Lestat alone or, at least, a lone wolf in the narrative. She has to keep his companions fresh or risk bastardising her existing OCs. If these are Lestat's tales of fuckery, he can't be shackled down to calm and centred Louis, logical and rational Marius, or to consuming! but somewhat routinely Armand. You can't pin Lestat down to Night Island, Trinity Gate, or New Orleans if you want him roaming, exploring, and showing us new cool stuff every book.
But then I am presented with the conundrum where there is some clear dissonance between what Lestat endures, and the actions he takes after such struggles.
And to me, it starts getting aggravating veeeeeeery quickly. In fact, it gets really aggravating at The Tale of Body Thief.
Body Thief is where, to me, the little development I was eager to see in Queen is cheapened out because it feels like... That's what the plot demands. You really mean to tell me Lestat has not learned his actions have long-term consequences? After Nicolas? After Claudia? After Armand's betrayal? After Akasha???? He starts off the book with a suicide-by-sun attempt, that fails as a direct consequence of his actions in the previous book, but he doesn't think his plan of swapping bodies with a notorious body thief could potentially backfire? You really want me to believe he would not listen to anyone around him after the development and solitude we see of him at the end of Queen? He's not impulsive in a "exposes himself as a vampire not only once but TWICE" because of the pre-established need to be perceived after childhood neglect. He's impulsive in a "I can't really see why you would do this other than it being a pretty cool plot/writing prompt?". Saying "he's insane!!!! he's an idiot" is funky funny but from a writer's perspective it's cheap and disrespectful to the character.
Body Thief is where it begins to read like Lestat is less of a character with real struggles, feelings, and motivations and more like "I need Lestat to do X fuckery because I want to tell a story about ABC". He's less someone who learns, and more of a MacGuffin who does things just to get the plot running, which actually takes from his character a lot. It makes his shortcomings a case of "You kind of had it coming my guy", or a case of "Didn't you learn better three books ago?" beyond the puzzling "Why didn't characters X, Y and Z come to your aid?". This last point actually takes not only from Lestat, but from the others, too.
I think even Anne grew a little frustrated with her own choice of seeing her favourite OC having to keep circling back to "bad decisions as the plot demands", which is why after Memnoch, she kind of takes a break from Lestat's fuckery by having the "Lestat is benched, David will write books for now and let me write some other biopics in the meanwhile" era. It gives us the much-needed consequence Lestat required after so many "expositions for plot" books. He's benched, he's cathartic, like he finally took a moment to deal with his struggles, even if he deals with it by being put in a bus (coffin as it may be) and like... it's good! I find it very welcoming that "Lestat going through Hell was so traumatic he's literally a shell of his former self".
If it actually had stick.
Because when he recovers... It's all back to the old pattern of "the others are gone because ain't no fucking way Louis/Armand/David/Marius/Gabrielle ANYONE would support Lestat doing this shit".
If you decide to read ANY OF THE BOOKS as it's own self-contained story, they. Are. Absolutely. Great. But when you start to map out a wider narrative, it feels like too much time was spent not letting Lestat emotionally deal with the consequences of his actions. He stops being a wild card to become predictable.
And then comes "Prince Lestat". Anne Rice makes the Auvergne setting and says "this is where Lestat will be bound to, and we'll see how he struggles with HAVING to be responsible". And WOW! what a breath of fresh air, finally!
When we get to the new trilogy, it's like Anne has decided that if she wants Lestat to grow as a character, he won't be able to be a roaming, wild card forever. He can't just dumb down every other book to take us into a new Cool Adventure! He can't keep circling through companions who are totally perfect for him omg, believe me.
Lestat finally has to deal with how constant hopping from companion to companion, while never responsibly returning their affection, is why he's alone. Louis and Armand are raising two kids in upstate New York, Marius has been steadily living with Daniel, David has been living his best life all on his own, and Lestat is alone. It's like that moment where he sees everyone has moved on without him, and he has to deal with it more realistically. We're finally shown a character who acknowledges his own struggles. We see Lestat finally be confronted with "siring a new fledgling every book and leaving them to fend off for themselves will end up with some of them killed" and we see him suffer for it in a way we haven't since Claudia on the first/second book when he hears Mona and Quinn died. We see Lestat admitting that Gabrielle being distant actively hurt him when they parted and keeps hurting him now. And we also see Anne fixing her own error of removing the characters from his life (because otherwise, plots would not happen) by finally having everyone sit around in a room and ask: "Where is Lestat?"
After a franchise of "let's see where Lestat's fuckery takes us this time", we finally get to see Lestat, as a character, properly grow and reflect said growth, FINALLY.
But, to me, that is not Lestat's fault. It's Anne's. Lestat is interesting, he's compelling, he's fascinating, his struggles are great, his musings and drive and desire to always enjoy life are so inspiring. Thrive despite it all! What a message. Even if you were abused, you can still make life worth living. He's great. Is his way of speaking unsufferable? At times. Is he vain and petty? Absolutely. Do I find every Joe thinking he's the best thing since headphones a bit too much that it's borderline comical? Oh, absolutely. But these are gimmicks that add to his character and make him feel so fleshed out and real. Lestat jumps from the page, like most of Anne's characters do. They elicit strong emotions because she's THAT GOOD at characterisation. Her characters feel real. Maybe Lestat is not everyone's cup of tea for a character, but as a character he's incredible and iconic, it's just that he bears the brunt of Anne, making him a wild card for the franchise.
So like... I don't blame on Lestat (character) that Anne Rice sacrificed his development for the type of books she was trying to write.
Maybe someone doesn't like the archetype Lestat is (charming rogue who takes no shit from anyone and does what he wants), but I'm someone who much prefers interesting characters than like... idk, projecting into characters? I really don't need to relate to characters to love a character. I find Lestat insufferable as a man, but I've gladly read all his books because he's interesting, and I often find myself re-reading TVL and the PL era because to me, those are the times where I am seeing Lestat growing, and showing it.
I'm unsure how I could change someone's opinion of him, but these are my reasons why Lestat works and doesn't work. I like writing Lestat in post-canon, because to me, that's when Lestat goes back to his TVL and QOTD developments.
holy cow this was long thanks for coming to my ted talk LMAO

Hi! I was curious what you meant with Lestat being to blame for Nicki's death? No argument about the physical violence and obviously Nicki isn't at fault for being depressed f*ck anyone who says that. But based on the source text I'm not comfortable assigning blame to Lestat in this regard either. I agree that Nicki being white is going to make people unbearable but on the other hand I don't want the show to water down Armand either because he's brown (I'm brown and I can't wait for him to be awful). I don't like boiling things down to bad vs good representation. tl;dr Could you clarify what you mean?
nicki is obviously not at fault for his mental illness and even if he was the very picture of mental health, i think it's fun and cool and sexy that he's a hateful and miserable bitch. i love a tortured artist, it's truly one of my favorite types of guy, and i'm so excited to see what the show does with him. but yeah, tl;dr, i agree that he's not to blame for being depressed.
now, just to clarify, i did not say that i personally think lestat, or armand, or nicki are 'to blame' for that whole thing, or that assigning 'blame' is necessarily productive. what i said specifically was:
"my very superficial impression of nickistat shippers is that whenever the downfall of their relationship isn't pinned solely on armand, then the blame is more or less evenly split between nicki and armand," [while never discussing lestat's role in how that whole sequence of events unfolded] (i didn't say this bracketed part in my post).
rather, i think that what's interesting about nicki, lestat and armand is the tragedy of it, and inevitability is most often the appeal of tragedy for me. can you assign blame if the tragic ending was predestined? was nicki doomed from the start, was nicki and lestat's downfall inevitable, was armand always meant to be their villain? i love nicki and lestat, they're a fucking car crash, and every day i'm thinking about that one paragraph in interview with the vampire about antoine, the depressed tormented violinist who looks just like louis, and lestat's insane years-long fixation with him. that's the crazy thing about nicki, like, he has to die for lestat to fall in love with louis, and even before we even know his name he's haunting the entirety of their relationship. he's been dead from the beginning. truly some of the most genius shit anne pulled in her little chronicles.
anyway. in the most generous reading of the material, one can't deny that armand literally kidnapped and tortured nicki and almost killed him, and that lestat was physically violent with him [in the specific context of their romantic relationship]. different kinds of fucked but, y'know, fucked in both cases. and i think there are many valid interpretations which make the both of them come off way 'guiltier'. hell, if you want to argue they conspired to push nicki to suicide i'm pretty sure the text will support you, and that's what's so juicy about it! it's a super interesting plot, and i love how muddled and ambiguous that section of the book is, i think it's some of the richest insight we get into who lestat is as a person by what he does, what he refuses to do, what he says and what he chooses to omit. i love that it's never revisited and we just have to sit with those letters and try to make sense of the story based on almost nothing.
i hope that the show manages to retain that ambiguity, and, like i said in that post you are referring to, i hope that everyone comes out of the whole situation looking like shit. and one of the reasons why i hope and pray that they at least suggest the possibility of armand/nicki having a romantic relationship is precisely because i think it would make the whole thing worse, and i would love to see it.
i love armand and lestat and nicki, and i love that the show has, so far, shown a willingness to embrace all of these characters' evil, which i hope will continue as we see more of armand and when we finally get to meet their nicki.
while lestat unarguably occupied the role of 'the villain' in the first season, we got a chance to see that nobody in the show is an unimpeachable hero, and i'm excited to see armand play that dual role as both romantic interest and antagonist in the second (and third?) season. i wish that audiences were also willing to at least acknowledge that these people are all shitty, especially when it comes to the white guys, but right now i'm not worried about the show toning down any of these characters to make them 'better representation' or make the show an easier sell. obligatory disclaimer that i might eat my words etc. etc. but personally i'm very optimistic about the absolute disaster that is gonna be armand/louis/claudia/madeleine. rip to my girl.
and yes, if all the conjecturing is right and nicki is indeed white, fandom is going to be even more of a cesspool on like five different fronts. i wish i had more than a superficial impression of it to really track how fan reaction changes from the source to this adaptation but alas, i'll leave that to the vampire scholars.
i hope this clarified like. literally anything at all. ¡muá!

PJO Reaction Episode 5
Emerges from nearly 2 feat of snow I live!!! The US is not having a good time right now. Khione have mercy…
I have warm peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and some hot cocoa and I'm ready to see Ares and the Tunnel of Love. Remember, there is some minor spoilers for the TV series based off Book info
Oh right, starting off with the aftermath of ST Louis. Oh…this is where we have the Fates. That's terrifying
Percy, sweetie, dry yourself off lol
Baby Percabeth hug!!!
Yeah…being a wanted criminal kinda impedes public transportation
Oh, theorizing who stole the bolt. They're right, even if Hades had it, a demigod was needed to steal it
Baby Percy's confidence in Poseidon is adorable, but it'll be shattered I'm sure
I'm not sure how I feel about Annabeth seeing the string being cut instead of Percy, but it makes sense. She is connected to the Hero of the Prophecy who's going to die.
Hello Ares!
Ok, this scene is hilarious, with them hiding behind the concrete barrier and I'm liking this version of Ares.
Oh Percy, Ares is just the tip of the iceberg for your insane family. Wait till you meet your brothers
Oh I can't wait to see Tyson next season!!!!!
Anyway
Ares as a Twitter Troll makes perfect sense.
Oh good, we finally get Bitch Ass Gabe
Sassy Annabeth! I like how Ares is kind of explaining everything but with his spin on it. Especially the family drama and war stuff
Oh! Ares is separating the party. Poor Grover, I'd be terrified. To be fair, Grover is the least likely to punch him so that's probably good. Note: Least likely, not won't. He can be riled up when it comes to nature, pollution, and Pan
Oh this park is already creepy as hell.
Honestly, Hephaestus would build a bomb ass terrifying amusement park that would make adrenaline junkies drool. Me included, I love amusement parks and roller coasters
…Grover is a fan of Ares? I mean, nature is brutal. Is he actually a fan, or just buttering him up? I love this conversation actually.
Back to the creepy amusement park and the creepy tunnel of love
They don't recognize "What is love???" What is this younger generation coming too, they don't even know the classic memes
I kind of like Percy knowing some of the stories though, especially how Sally tells them.
Oh the ride is getting fun!
C'mon Percy, use your water powers! It would be very embarrassing to drown here. Ok good, he did it!
Annabeth's hair is never going to dry is it?
Yay a puzzle! I'm sure the throne is trapped nine ways from sunday
Of course Grover is trying to solve it and Ares is shutting it down…
Athena conversation? Ok, Grover is definitely trying to butter Ares up. This is beautiful. Oh….Grover what have you done.
Oh. if they make it so the throne is like a Chinese finger trap that would be a cute call back to the Mark of Athena. I don't think this trap is as simple as one gets trapped and one survives. Maybe if he just promises to be nice it'll let him go?
I love the scene tho, its so cute and serious.
Oh I love the animation for the trapped seat. Percy chanting "I'm ok" and turning to gold is heartbreaking.
C'mon Annabeth! If anyone can figure it out, its you!
Oh. Hello. Hephaestus? Hermes? Who is this? Oh ok, Hephaestus, I like his appearance, I didn't know he was cast already. What is his plan though?
C'mon Annabeth! Break that generational trauma! Character Growth!
Yay! Percy Lives!
Oh. I hate this part, the "kindness" transport. Oh. He's sending them to the Lotus Casino? Asshole. And there is the backpack…
Persassy strikes again!
"Thank you for the emotional abuse and the cheeseburgers" Grover never change. I'm stealing that. Somehow
Ooh, Grover knows Ares is lying. I wonder who he thinks stole the bolt? Athena?Damn you cliffhangers!
I think this was my favorite episode so far. I love all of the changes they made, and all of the conversations. The pacing is better than the previous ones, and so were the emotional beats and special effects
I'm so excited to see where we go from here!

AAAA i also went to see AOTV today!!! What did u think of it ? (Love your vibe btw 💕💕)
i LOVED IT!!! where to begin??? it exceeded my expectations (and typical to me i didn't have insane specific ones anyway but).
i cried within the first ten minutes, so hit in the chest by the last 1d performance bts footage... the boys looking at him like shit louis is having a hard time fuck error what do we do. hélène being his tour mom, just the exact same way they interact still to this day was just so !!! and ofc the family history, the way it was put into perspective by them. the way they talk about dealing with it all, moving on... but the grandpa....... and we know how louis struggled to find his voice after 1d but this just showed it in such detail and with nuance, and how the blow after blow was literally every fucking year. and he doesn't feel sorry for himself as much as is warranted, as always, and it again shows how strong he is and how his family and friends recognize that. bc he is and always has been this person who makes other ppl's lives better, whether it's helping his mom/being her best friend, protecting his sisters, taking his friends and band mates along for the full ride of tour life..... so i'm just always so fucking happy to see he is surrounded by ppl who return the favor and make him happy. the band and oli and everyone. they're just great. and how he describes his role in 1d as well. "if i can't sing, then what can i do for this band?" and obvs the doc didn't mention this, but thanks to his writing credits he completely changed the course of the band. but before that, even, he formed the entire dynamic 1d had. which he now shows with his solo career. he's down to earth, accessible (as far as a celeb musician can be), and he has a firm hand in what his image and the music he puts out are. and that's how he attracted the part of the 1d fanbase that came for the personality and good times.
i am always impressed by louis, and none of this is a huge shock or surprise or brand new information, but i still managed to be fucking impressed yk?! the power
and the experience of being there in the cinema with two of my closest mutuals i love to fuck around with @bluewinnerangel @swimmingleo like reacting with lil shrieks trying not to bother the others and nudging each other every time something remotely moldy or even simply funny happened. quietly sobbing in unison. melting off our chairs by the end. yeah 10/10 would do again in a heartbeat when is the next doc coming out

going insane about how both lestat and louis are obsessed with performances and appearances, each for a different reason and each in a way that is infuriating to the other
louis and his performative humanity, the way him in his comfort zone is him behind a facade of different social roles he strives to be competent at, because this is the way he is used to interacting with the world, "different hats" he wears, different roles he plays, because he has learned that this is the only way he is Allowed to exist. (sidenote: the way he is clearly upset by the fact that the social role of "vampire" is not something he's good at or will ever be good at???? the way his immediate conclusion upon being faced with that fact is "you should just throw me into the incinerator and make a new one"???? babygirl you are driving me mad)
and lestat, allergic to sincerity because he is deathly scared of being abandoned, hiding himself under layers and layers of performance, because he "knows" that he is too much, so he refuses to voice his issues because that would mean bringing them to light and allowing people to actually leave him. stuck in a constant performance of a man who is not on the verge of a mental breakdown, a man who is loved, safe, needed, because the alternative is too terrifying.
I can't fucking WAIT to see how extremely dysfunctional those two will be as parents. like. a guy constantly trying to perform some version of a societally accepted social norm and a guy who would rather fucking die than communicate: WHAT CAN GO WRONG? (everything. fucking everything)

Would bella want to be a anne rice vampire?
Bella mistaking Cullenism for Vampirism. Bella on falling in love with any rando vampire in Biology. Bella's attraction to Edward and vampirism. Would Bella be attracted to a TVD vampire?
Depends
In most cases, for most vampires out there, Bella would not want to become a vampire.
Even in the world of Twilight, Bella's attracted to vampirism for a few reasons. Bella does not sign up to be a homeless, murderous, crystal person but instead Edward Cullen's lover, a beautiful boy invariably fascinated with her, a Cullen, extraordinarily wealthy with this familiar comfortable lifestyle of being the cool kids in high school forever, with this very tight knit beautiful family, a best friend in Alice, and the best parents ever in the Cullens.
To Bella, the Cullens look like everything she never had and everything she's ever wanted.
While vampires by themselves are beautiful and Bella does consider Aro's musing about turning her with hope, Bella always conflates vampirism with the Cullens. She never thinks, "oh my god, what if they dump me after I turn", and always assumes her life as a vampire will be intertwined with theirs and the only thing separating them is that she's a lowly human.
If we look at other vampire media, we don't even necessarily have the good-looking part.
TVD, you're the same as ever and go to school the next day, you might have some powers, maybe, but nothing changes. Buffy, you lose your soul and become a man-eating demon who will likely derive pleasure from torturing your loved ones and you also make an ugly 'grr' face when you feed (in Buffy, it's worth pointing out that only one character is ever mad enough to want to become a vampire and it's due to an existential terror of death). Shiki, those who wish to turn either don't understand what they're getting into or else do it out of companionship for those who are already damned, it's a miserable and lonely existence. Dracula... brides of Dracula don't get to do much or be much.
Now, Anne Rice's vampires have a bit of a leg up in that they're explicitly hot. They're beautiful in the general way Bella likes, immortal with unchanging features, etc.
However, they also tend to be miserable hedonist wretches.
You Said it Depends
Bella would need an Edward. Lestat's sales pitch to Louis is much the sales pitch Bella would want ("hey kid, you want to be insanely good looking, have tons of fun, and enjoy the night life?") but the life of exciting hedonism he immediately shows Louis is not the selling point for Bella.
She liked that the Cullens go to high school over and over again. She liked that Edward was close to her age but also older than her.
And with Anne Rice vampires she's not going to get that.
First, vampires can't go out during the day. Bella wouldn't be meeting Edward in a high school setting but instead at night which means likely in a restaurant, on the street, wherever. Bella not having much of a night life makes this unlikely and also immediately sketchy as Edward would be approaching her out of nowhere.
Carlisle's existence is possible in the Anne Rice world. Louis gives the rat diet a very good try before giving up after eating a baby. So the Cullens aren't entirely impossible, but it means Carlisle's doing night shifts and the kids are probably hiding in the basement.
That, by itself, isn't the existence Bella wants.
The ridiculous money would help but there's no Cullen persona where people see the new Bella and see that she's a Cullen like the rest of the Cullens. This aspect was hugely important to Bella. she wants to sit at their lunch table so there has to be a lunch table to sit at.
So... yes?
In the right circumstances, Bella runs into an Edward type figure who is very wealthy, then she may go for it.
I don't think Lestat would sell her on it though or Armand for that matter. (Though she would find Armand terribly intellectual and attractive.)

what if i told you that I've read all the books and still prefer loumand over lestat. what if i told that not even armand killing claudia with his bare hands wouldn't make me hate him. what if i told you that i will still stan louis for continuing to be with armand even after armand probably kills his child. like i am aware of everything. you would tell me that loustat is endgame. so it's not that you care about louis or claudia or armand or even fans hating assad. you just wish show lestat wasn't already such a pile of garbage and that so far for many fans he's irredeemable. i can promise you the only people that already hate and will definitely hate assad and lash him are white fans. which is going to be so funny for you who thinks you can buy your way into whiteness by keekeeing with white fans against the mostly black and brown loumand fans
Hey Anon, guess what?
I don't care if you've read the books or not. It clearly hasn't stopped you from making incorrect assumptions about people and things or being absolutely toxic about all of this.
I probably read the books and was originally in VC fandom before you were even born. There were only four books published when I joined. I saw the 1994 movie in theaters.
And guess what? People were shipping Louis and Armand back then too. And nobody cared and there wasn't any insane "nice guy" Armand theories or ship wars about to prop it up either. People shipped who they liked and that was that.
Again, because you can't seem to understand or get it: I don't care if you ship Armand and Louis. Many of us don't.
And this is not about that and you know it.
First of all yes, I'll still say Loustat is endgame. Do you know why? Because not only is that how the book series ended, but Rolin Jones - you know, the showrunner - has said it himself as well that the relationship between Louis and Lestat is the heart of the show.
So saying that is just based on feakin' logic, based on actual current available information. Not my personal opinion.
I can sit here and say all day or all night that Harry is going to end up with Hermione one day, but that will never make it true, either via the books or the movie series based on, you know, the actual facts of things as they currently stand.
So until you've got something other than yourself and your personal feelings about all of this to go by? Then yeah I'll keep saying it based on the books and what RJ has said about it all so far.
And he's not on social media. So all of this you're doing? Not only is he not aware of it, but he probably wouldn't care if he found out either.
None of this has anything to do with the damn sipping war, or personal grievance you so seem hell-bent on wanting to start and have with me or anyone else about all of this. Or any slights you continue to keep personally feeling whenever someone says it.
If the books had ended at Blood Canticle, which is where the series did end for a long-ass time BTW, I would have said that book canon endgame couple was Lestat-Rowan - because that is what it was - while the show was changing it to Lestat-Louis because that is what Rolin Jones, you know, again, the showrunner, was saying it was going to be.
Again, it's all called facts and logic. No more, no less.
And I'm going to call BS right now on people like you not attacking Assad. You say that now but I'm very sure the minute he doesn't back your "nice guy Armand" theory in some way or push that something other than Armand and Louis is endgame, you'll turn on him and say not-so-nice things about him. It always happens. And you'll probably call him a sell-out and trying to latch onto whiteness when he does, just like you're trying with me right now (or anyone who dares not to back or support your theories from what I've seen). (And attacking Sam Reid just because you don't like his character still isn't a good look for ya'll BTW.)
This isn't a race or racism thing Anon. No matter how much you'll try and keep saying it is. And because you don't know a thing about me you of course don't know how I've already called out white fans when it comes to Armand and Assad being cast as him just a few days ago. So don't come at me with your weak argument regarding this topic okay?
Because see, if you really want to go on the topic of race about all this, then why this need to erase everything Armand actually is a character now that the person playing him is a POC? Why the need to, pardon the pun, whitewash him?
Is it absolutely impossible for you to see a POC play a problematic character, in a story full of other problematic characters, and still prefer him over another? You say it isn't, that you like Armand from the books despite the things he's done. But yet, here you all are with the theory that Armand is going to be a good guy and whatnot, based on absolutely nothing but your own feelings and opinion.
Is Armand's problematic nature worse to you because he is a POC now? Why this need from you and some others to erase the complexity, and the trauma, that made Armand become who he was to where he did what he did to Claudia, and instead you have this need for him to be an unblemished good guy instead?
Because you damn well know this isn't - and never has been - about you and other shipping Armand and Louis and anyone having a big problem with that. Because if you knew me at all, you'd know that I'm actually very poly about all this - and really like the polyamorous nature of all these vampires in general - and would be just as happy with it ending with a four-character pile that has Louis and Armand in there.
No. This has all, and only ever been, about this "nice guy Armand" theory you and many other keep insisting on trying to make real.
And maybe you should ask yourself why that is.
Because it seems to me you want him to be unproblematic to actually do the very thing you're trying to accuse me of - which is kowtowing to white fans' most awful racist tendencies when it comes to POC who aren't perfect, or unproblematic. (Something especially seen with black people - real and fictional.)
Why is Armand not being as problematic and complex as all the other characters on the show, just like his book counterpart, so important to you? Maybe you should ask yourself that Anon, before you start attacking other people on this okay?

Lestat Niki Louis Gabrielle Armand
Louis- my sweet cheese my good time boy... i joke about him because he's silly but he's just... so important to me. his constant melancholy and general pathetic demeanor is probably exactly what i would be like as a vampire tbh. he feels the most real and tangible to me, and also the most classic vampire. but he's not like the other GIRLSS!!!! i love how everyone is just so crazy about him, describes him in long poetic prose, and is just in a general agreement that he is the best ever. i will read the paragraphs where the others describe him over and over. meanwhile he is just this Guy with big wet eyes. i love that he is covered in dust. i love reading abt how he adjusts to the modern world but still kind of sticks to the time he was born in (aesthetically/in his mannerisms). i love that he does not try to get involved with vampire drama. he is quiet and thoughtful and nice :) BUT HE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hate him
Armand- my relationship with armand and lestat is kind of weird, i feel like in some books i am more of a lestat fan but in others i am insane about armand way over lestat. armand is always staying at a constant place in my heart, meanwhile lestat kinda dances around that? he is a tentative 2nd ig? i love his ominous demeanor. he is both so in control yet so insecure. he's untrustworthy but he loves sincerely, and in the most vice-grip kinda way. his quiet manipulation and desperation for love feels like it's introduced very well in iwtv and fleshed out so amazingly in following books. he's pretty consistently written, which is just really satisfying and nice when almost no one else is UHHHHHHHHHHH
Gabrielle- i just really like her... idk i'm always so excited to read about her... i want to be her i want her gender
Lestat- sorry sorry i'm really weird about lestat GHJJ. i don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not in the fandom but i do not love how he is characterized post iwtv. i understand ar's desire to turn him more likeable in order to be a main character, but i also think it could have been done better. i think he could have been developed slowly. i HATE. the fact that he's retconned into only killing criminals??? absolutely not. i started tvl extremely excited to see the development of the character from the first book and instead it kind of feels like an entirely different guy. i don't dislike every part obvs! i love how he flips the vampire trope on its head. i love everything he stands for. i love him. but i don't agree with the retconning even if it made the story more digestable or lestat more likeable. we were not supposed to like him in the first book, so why not give us a legitimate reason to like him in the 2nd book instead of saying "nah louis lied haha. love me." for this reason i'll always put louis' FACTUAL description of events over lestat's, whereas the parts like where he describes louis begging him to stay and all that actually do make sense. adding to the story instead of subtracting. anyway i do like him!!! i swear i love lestat. um but he kind of makes me mad.
Nicki- tbh i really need to reread tvl but i do remember loving him, i just can't remember enough of him to rank higher lmfao. i like his comparison to louis, and the fact that he kind of can't get over his jealousy for his own boyfriend. i like how his fall into madness was described, and how lestat basically loses all interest in him. also armand fucked up arc (still has not ended). thinking about him makes me sad (in a good way). top ten reasons to reread tvl

Remembrance Chapter 11
here on ao3 or read in below
Armand looks between Daniel and Louis, then back to Louis. It's obvious they're having some sort of mental communication. After a few seconds, he drops his hand. “I'll let you get back to it. Call if you need me.”
Daniel watches him go, though he suspects he doesn't go far. There's a moment of heavy silence. Then Louis begins to speak as if nothing happened.
And so the story continues.
Daniel listens without interruption as Louis talks about his life, Lestat, his sister, Claudia. Louis reads aloud how Claudia follows Louis and Lestat without knowing why, other than that she can't find meaning without them.
And doesn't that sound familiar? Daniel hadn't been able to find meaning in his life without Armand. But Claudia thinks she was made to be Louis' sister. Daniel wonders if Louis ever knew that was what she thought. Wonders if maybe it isn't partly true.
Of course, Claudia eventually returns. How could she not?
But that's when things fall apart. Because she doesn't come back to stay, no, she comes back for Louis. And Lestat can't have that. Her exact words to Louis were “I thought I could live without you, but I was wrong.”
Daniel had said the same words to Armand once. And what had Armand said? “There is nothing for you now, Daniel, except for me. Madness waits out there.”
Madness would be better than what happened next. Daniel knows it's going to turn violent even before Louis says anything. Things were at a boiling point, and violence was inevitable.
Had he and Armand ever truly been violent? Daniel remembers love-making that had been vicious, remembers fights that had been volatile, but true violence? No, that had never happened. Even when provoked Armand.
Once, during one of their arguments—and it was always the same argument, really—Daniel had accused Armand of being a liar and struck him. He had been packing his bags during the fight, ready to bolt. Armand had grabbed him by the arm to stop him and Daniel slapped him.
He can still remember the look on his face, the anger flashing in his eyes as he hissed “How dare you!”
Armand had looked truly monstrous and it was frightening and exciting and infuriating.
So Daniel had said, “Don't hit me. You might kill me. You're very strong.” Except he had been trying to provoke Armand to do just that. He wanted Armand to strike him, was the sick thing. Wanted it so he'd have something to hang over his head during their next fight.
Jesus, he was fucked up.
The next part is difficult to listen to. Daniel thinks if he didn't remember Louis, remember caring for Louis, he might be able to be objective. What Lestat does to him, in front of their daughter, no less, is sickening. Hell, it makes Daniel want to find the bastard and drive a stake through his heart. If that could even kill him.
Daniel wants to say something comforting, but what comes out is “And you don't consider yourself abused.”
Louis' face shutters and he draws back. “I think that's enough for tonight.”
Daniel sighs. “Wait, I didn't mean-”
“You did,” Louis cuts in, then looks off in the distance. Daniel can guess that Armand is telepathically checking in on him. Good. At least one of them isn't sticking their foot in their mouth.
Louis stands. “Good night, Daniel.”
Daniel watches him walk out without protest. Once he's out of sight, he rubs a hand over his face. This interview is proving harder than he imagined. He sits and tries not to think of Louis beaten and bloody. It's insane that he still cares. He shouldn't. He shouldn't be here.
He's not left to his thoughts long. Only a few moments pass before Armand enters and places a steaming mug in front of him. Daniel lifts it and takes a sip. It's tea, that ridiculously expensive kind made from leaves that only grow in a specific rainforest. It had been Daniel's favorite in the seventies. Armand still remembers just the way he takes it.
Armand sits across from him and doesn't speak. Daniel takes another swallow of tea and thinks of what to say. “Thanks,” he says and lifts the tea. He looks toward where Louis exited. “He going to be alright?”
“Speaking of the past is difficult for Louis,” says Armand. “But yes, he will be fine. I'll take care of him.”
“Why aren't you now?” Daniel asks. Why is Armand out here with him instead of with Louis?
“Then who would care for you, my boy?”
Daniel feels a flare of anger surge through him. What right does Armand have to call him his boy, after all this time? “Not your boy, and I don't need taken care of.”
Once, after a particularly vicious fight, Daniel had told Armand he'd always been his. They'd been wrapped around each other in bed, just finished fucking. Make up sex with Armand was always especially intense. Armand's fingers had been stroking through his hair and Daniel had his face buried in Armand's chest. “You know, I'm still yours, right? Even when I leave. I'll always be yours. I don't know what else to be.” Then Armand had made love to him again and things were good for awhile.
The memory makes him burn red with shame. He wonders if Armand is poking around in his head, hearing him think of it.
“Perhaps I want to take care you, whether you need it or not.”
“Well, don't,” Daniel snaps. He pulls off his glasses and rubs his eyes. “Shit. I slapped an abuse victim.”
Armand's mouth twitches at the corner. “Louis wouldn't like being called a victim.”
Doesn't mean he isn't one, but Daniel's not going to push it. “I'd feel worse if he didn't deserve it.”
Armand glances towards Daniel's hands. “How is your hand?”
It's a little sore, but that's par for course these days. Everything aches all the time. The joys of old age and disease. “Fine.”
“May I?” Armand says, and reaches towards him. He doesn't wait for an answer before taking Daniel's hand in his. He massages it, rubbing his thumbs over his tired muscles with just the right amount of pressure. It feels pretty nice, actually.
Armand is focused on his hand while he does it, so Daniel takes the opportunity to drink in the sight of him. He's a damn fool, but he's missed him. Even without remembering him, he missed him. There always was that something lacking that he could never find, that ephemeral feeling he kept chasing.
Daniel hates him so much he can't stand it; he wants him so much it hurts.
Armand kneads his thumb over a tender spot and Daniel lets his eyes fall closed. He sucks in a breath and pulls back his hand. “I'm going to bed. Go take care of Louis.”
He rises to his feet and Armand lets him leave. Part of him wishes he hadn't.
When he crawls into bed, it's hard to sleep. His brain won't shut off, won't stop bringing up memories. So much of his life is wrapped up in these two vampires. Being with them had been the best and worst time of his life.
After an hour, he's ready to give up. He goes to the bathroom—no one told him how often you have to pee when you get old—and washes his hands. He's sees a flicker in the mirror, something behind him. It's there and gone too quickly to make out. Then cold seeps down to his pores, sliding down the back of his neck and filling his body with an icy chill.
The image behind him flickers again. A girl in a yellow dress, her face twisted in anger. Claudia.
Daniel turns around and sees nothing. His heart is pounding in his chest. “Claudia?”
No answer. Whatever he saw is gone, and the chill fades with it.
A ghost. He just saw a ghost. Claudia's ghost.
Daniel casts his eyes around, but there's no sign of her. “Don't worry, I'm going to find out what happened to you.”
And he will. Then just maybe, by the time this is over, she can have some peace.

Finally watching the AMC IWTV
~Precursor to the text below: I can't express what I want to say properly so if you have questions, PLEASE DON'T ATTACK ME I'M TRYING. Feel free to give me some insight or explanations but no spoilers for the end, just tell me to watch the last two episodes AND I WILLLLL~
So, I gave the AMC Interview with the Vampire a watch because I was bored and wanted to be included with everything TVC. I genuinely enjoyed it. Some things I have complaints about, but I'll discuss that in a bit. I love how they portrayed Lestat; I feel they did an amazing job with that instead of making him seem equal to Louis in "vampire status" and having the same three emotions (ahem 1994 (still hold it very near and dear to my heart)). I like the way they made Louis a pimp, still holding some accuracy to the book (in the way that Louis was a slave owner, same concept OBVIOUSLY different conditions). I haven't seen the last two episodes because of my busy schedule but so far, I am not hating it. Now my complaints... very small and probably unimportant but I don't know if I love Claudia's, like, representation because to me in the book, she seems to me as a punishment for Louis because he would not kill her but didn't want Lestat to either, so in turn Lestat turns her into a vampire and forces Louis to take care of this little girl. I understand how her relationship with Louis and Lestat in the show is extremely similar to the book, with Lestat taking her hunting and showing the more elaborate side of being a vampire versus Louis showing her how he still has some mortal conflict within himself. So far, it's very similar, so no crazy complaints but I feel like they won't give her the same, like, intense frustrations like in the book or movie honestly. Claudia 1994 had such emotional intensity to her frustrations (maybe it's just Dunst being a good child actor or how it was supposed to be conveyed). I haven't watched it all the way so take everything I say like lightly :P. Another complaint I have is probably the worst one depending on if you can understand what I mean, but I don't really like how explicit Louis and Lestat's relationship is. Not in the sense of the vulgarity or content of the relationship, I know they are clearly in an intimate relationship, but I like how it was up to some kind of interpretation in the book (depending on which way you view it, maker vs creation, lovers with a distinct power imbalance), not ENTIRELY up to the reader but there are some parts you have to determine whether or not they're freaky or just being vampires. I LOVE Louis and Lestat's relationship in the show, I think it's done amazingly and not overtly JUST a relationship, rather a relationship being between a "fledgling" and a "maker", even with Lestat calling Louis "fledgling" a couple times. But (I can't really explain it cause I'm not really good at expressing what I mean, so beware), there's just something...missing? I would say the things the show does better than the movie adaptation, the show does it like 100x better. Louis and Lestat's relationship and their DYNAMICS? The show. Louis's family life? The show. Not having two horrible people be cast in the two lead roles? The show /hj (LOL I "hate" Cruise and Pitt but they were pretty good in the movie). i can understand now why people can enjoy the show, the accuracy is huge one for me, but the adaptations of the characters are something new and interesting. I can't understand how someone could absolutely HATE the show though, mild distain or just not a fan sure I can see that, but hating the show? Just weird to me, unless you can give like a good explanation why, I just can't see it. Anyways, don't crucify me for this, I wrote this while being ten assignments behind my class and so I could get this out before I explode. Also, Se7en is an insane movie def recommend.

I told you I feel like an alien, different, not fitting, being afraid to never feel okay, given what is happening in this world. I have a problem with the people on it. You said everyone is like that. Different, special. That is not what I meant. I'm walking through town and feel so fucking apart from people. Not in an arrogant way. I just don't feel a connection based on empathy, not a lot. Everyone's is either looking into their phone, or having a poker face. Coldness. I feel so cold walking through the streets. I hate that everyone seems to be doing okay with this world, but I just can't find my place in this society. Am I projecting my own insecurities into society? I'm afraid I do, but I don't know how to better myself, how to accept what is going on. I just wished everyone would be a little kinder. My heart hurts when I see 100 people passing a homeless woman and not giving her any money at all. I'm talking about rich people with Louis Vouilton bags. My heart hurts all the time, a little bit. It gets almost unbearable when I see the cruelty of some people on this planet. Harassment, rape, poverty, inequalities, everything bad going on every minute somewhere on this planet that we as a species are responsible of, extinction of species, murder. I can't ignore it. I feel pain almost all the time. When I see people laughing at a dead pigeon that died on his own vomit, probably because some other humans poisoned the food he was eating. Other pushing away some other pigeons with legs because there are just there. Those were just examples of what happened to me recently. So many people not giving a f about anything but themselves. The planet and the animals living on it, not interested enough to adjust their behaviour to harm the planet a little less. They are just not interested. I'm not talking about poor people who have to make sure there is food on the table every night. I'm talking about people who have the choice, but are putting their interests above everything else. Sometimes I have troubles living on this planet where there are so many people supporting Putin in his insane psychopathy. Maybe I'm very ignorant on this topic, this is my heart speaking, I'm Ukrainian. However. The people supporting Putin HAVE possibilities to inform themselves of what is really happening if they actually wanted to. They just decide not to think at all and believe everything this Mistkerl says. I hate him with every bit of my aching heart. In Germany, we have an expression for what I'm feeling. It's called Weltschmerz. World pain. I hope in the future I will be able to accept my Weltschmerz and just feel a little better about the people in this world. I always try to spread positivity and give hope to people when people tell me they hate people, because I really want to believe the big majority of us are good people. I am working on it and I will never quit.

David Talbot for the character thingy
David Talbot
Sexuality Headcanon: David is gay. I can't read his takes and not think him gay. The way he describes women is absolutely creepy but not in a horny way. He describes women the way your great uncle who's a WWII fan describes a tank used in East Berlin. He's never looked at any woman and pictured himself in bed with them, if it happened it happened but he's "meh" about it. He's, in fact, at the final frontier before fully stepping into misoginy.
Gender headcanon: He's non-binary, but not by choice. I think Anne wasted his character by not giving him body dysmorphia and dysphoria. He's literally living in a body that isn't his, not by his choice, and I secretly believe he would not waste a chance to jump bodies whenever, gender of this new body be damned. He has no attachment to Raglan James' body.
A ship I have with said character: David/Lestat and David/Armand are okay, there's good fucked up potential there, dubcon etc. But my absolute favourite David ship is David/Louis. The way he speaks of/with Louis in Merrick is insane. I LOVE David/Louis so much, if Anne Rice's ghost manifested, the only thing she would yell at me for, I am sure, is preferring David/Louis a LOT more than David/Lestat.
A BROTP I have with said character: Armand literally told him his whole life story, I think he considers David a friend, AND I think they hang/talk/confide to many a vampire surprise. Same as Pandora, in fact. David keeps trying to befriend Marius, but Marius doesn't like him (for a number of reasons I am not going to write now LMAO). He's also Jesse's confidant and that happened rather organically due their similar backstories of being Talamasca members who got turned. They get along.
A NOTP I have with said character: I am pretty sure David/Merrick was at least implied by Anne, and that's ok! She's allowed to make mistakes.
A random headcanon: (so many headcanons I just have to admit my David is nowhere close to canon!David but Fofo!David is one of my secret favourites and the more I re-read his narrated books the more I like him)
Just one: Armand is well-aware David is projecting all of his ephebophilic tendencies on him, but seeing as Armand is 1) insane 2) from another time he throws David a bone here and there, which in turns makes David depressed because he knows it's a pity party and Armand would never want to be in a relationship with him (sad jerkass David noises)
General Opinion over said character: In general, David's character was fascinatingly dark, playing up horror tropes really well, and he had lots of potential to make a complex and morally-ambiguous Vampire. But I am of the honest opinion that in trying to force him into the "Best companion" role for Lestat, Anne crippled his character that he just feels like a plot device/MacGuffin and oh-so-conveniently placed at times. He should have been allowed to be his own character. Him going from a white and mighty old man to a weak-ass vampire was PRIME for angst but we never see that. Him inhabiting a body that isn't his is underplayed. Even the fact that his turning is thrilling and horrible gets dismissed as "Oh I am glad to be a vampire now", because God forbid Lestat's oh so perfect companion loathes him in secret lmao.
Anyway
One of my friends growing up who also read the books with me as a teen LOVED David, and I think the reason I am so embracing of his character is because of her.

what would you say to louis fans who can’t help but stress over charts and numbers and etc? like i really wish i didn’t care but it’s just so annoying seeing harry fans calling him a “flop” and making fun of his voice or w/e and then there were those awful reviews from the guardian and whynow too. i think i wouldn’t stress as much if louis hadn’t said he would love for fitf to be commercially successful bc i really really want him to have that bc he deserves it so much but i don’t think he will and that makes me really sad :(
okay well first of all, I'm sorry you're feeling stressed! That's no fun :( For starters- while Louis did let slip that sure, he wouldn't object to FITF being commercially successful (like once) he's said many, MANY more times that it is NOT his priority. He seems to have a very healthy relationship to the idea of it being a hit, like wouldn't that be a kick?! But it would be a fun extra, not the goal. When asked to define success for himself recently, he said it was to be happy with the music he's making and that he is, he's said many times in the past he defines success as being able to tour, he issued a whole manifesto letting us know that he would be pursuing something other than commercial success with this album before he even began writing it- the man knows the industry and he knew what he was choosing, and yesterday he told us yet again that he is on twitter a couple times a day and sees a lot more than people think. This last one is connected I believe; all of this talk about what kind of success he wants isn't something he's telling the GP, he's telling US, he's telling YOU. He's literally saying, chin up love, I'm good. Please stop worrying about me! Because he sees the discourse and what people say, and he is addressing it directly. So you know, who needs me when LOUIS has himself addressed the topic!
But what I would say? I would say that I think this isn't about him, it's about us. He's literally a multimillionaire living his absolute best life and *loooving it* right now, but we aren't! We're just Common People trying our best to survive a brutal and miserable world that attacks us every day with more stresses and fear, and we turn to fandom and to Louis to have something NICE, something that feels good and doesn't make us want to cry. So when that escape is full of negativity or isn't going the way we want it to it really feels like shit and hits hard. And the like ideal world answer to that problem is to go all Louis and say paradise is in your own mind, don't rely on stuff outside you for happiness because you can't control it so it may let you down at any time, but I know- that's high level goals, that's not necessarily realistic in the day to day. What you can do though is remember that the idea of being here in this fandom is that it's supposed to give you happiness and ease and relief from the outside world, and once you've remembered that it makes it easier to see how to fix where it's going wrong. UNFOLLOW EVERYONE WHO POSTS CONTENT THAT MAKES YOU FEEL STRESSED OUT! Literally. Just do it. Mean harries OMG why would you want to see that?!? Block. Bye. People making fun of his voice??!! Literally insane and definitely on the wrong side of history, laugh at them, and then block. Anyone who thinks Louis *can't* write a number one hit in his sleep is honestly stupid, he wrote dozens?? The man wrote so many he got bored of it and was like, guess I'll take on a new challenge now... (If it was by 1D and it was a banger...!) Who cares what they say? I didn't know Louis got a bad review in the Guardian! And that's fine! I don't care!! I saw that important indie music magazine NME gave him 4/5 :))) That was nice. News I can use! I come here and scroll down my dash and see everyone being happy and showing me Louis being happy and it's nice and it's fun. Unfollow everyone you don't know that posts that stuff, if you have friend blogs you feel like you can't unfollow, blacklist all their tags or their name so you don't see the negative content. Find new blogs. If you feel like you can't make the leap to actually unfollow people, try making a separate tumblr (like from a diff email) and just following no stressful blogs and try that dash for a while without changing your old follows, just see what it's like. Every time you see something that makes your stomach clench, unfollow or blacklist. See if it could work out for you.
Listen: I know everyone says this, and people are just like suuure but I can't actually do that, I need to know what's happening but I PROMISE- nothing important is actually happening with all that! On the rare occasion it's actually interesting or whatever, it'll cross over. Unstressful people will talk about it in a less stressful way, either to discourse or to make fun, and you'll find out, and you won't have missed anything. Seriously- try it. I know it *feels* like we owe it to Louis to stress about this stuff or something, like if we don't think about it we're letting him down or something but that's just anxiety thinking! It's magical thinking: if I don't reblog the good luck post something bad will happen. If I tap in a certain pattern it will protect me. If I keep on top of everything people are saying about Louis I can help him. Magical thinking is a symptom of anxiety disorders, and no shame in that who doesn't have fucking anxiety these days, but it also FEEDS them, and the last thing we all need is more anxiety. Care for yourself by giving yourself the gift of an easy and pleasurable online experience! I want that for you and so would Louis.
