Daily my thoughts stray to the fact that Beren the Renowned defiantly held the light of a Silmaril aloft to protect the love of his life from an enormous foul monster of darkness creeping toward them in a previously untouchable land of evil…and then thousands of years later, Frodo Baggins defiantly held the light of that same Silmaril aloft to protect the love of his life from an enormous foul monster of darkness creeping toward them in a previously untouchable land of evil.

Back in my hobbit/LOTR hyperfixation and it seems that every time it comes back up my want and personal need for a sword seems to return….weird

I've decided to watch the extended editions of lord of the rings.

It was only on my 6th or 7th The Two Towers rewatch that I made this connection:

Such a nice touch. And heartbreaking - just to think how many boys were forced to leave their families and face almost certain death in battle (some of them just after losing their fathers, like Haleth).
