Daily my thoughts stray to the fact that Beren the Renowned defiantly held the light of a Silmaril aloft to protect the love of his life from an enormous foul monster of darkness creeping toward them in a previously untouchable land of evil…and then thousands of years later, Frodo Baggins defiantly held the light of that same Silmaril aloft to protect the love of his life from an enormous foul monster of darkness creeping toward them in a previously untouchable land of evil.

(reading lotr) maybe it's not a great idea to appoint a royal advisor to a man literally named Wormtongue of all people 😭

Back in my hobbit/LOTR hyperfixation and it seems that every time it comes back up my want and personal need for a sword seems to return….weird

It was only on my 6th or 7th The Two Towers rewatch that I made this connection:
Such a nice touch. And heartbreaking - just to think how many boys were forced to leave their families and face almost certain death in battle (some of them just after losing their fathers, like Haleth).

“The power of the enemy is growing. Sauron will use his puppet Saruman to destroy the people of Rohan. Isengard has been unleashed. The Eye of Sauron now turns to Gondor, the last free kingdom of men. His war on this country will come swiftly. He senses the Ring is close. The strength of the Ringbearer is failing. In his heart, Frodo begins to understand. The quest will claim his life. You know this. You have foreseen it. It is the risk we all took. In the gathering dark, the will of the Ring grows strong. It works hard now to find its way back into the hands of men. Men, who are so easily seduced by its power. The young captain of Gondor has but to extend his hand, take the Ring for his own and the world will fall. It is close now, so close to achieving its goal. For Sauron will have dominion over all life on this Earth, even unto the ending of the world. The time of the elves is over. Do we leave Middle-Earth to its fate? Do we let them stand alone?”

This is somewhat different from what I usually post, but I got inspired to draw my Rohirrim PC (Cavalier) and his Erebor-Dwarf best friend (Ranger) from the Lord of the Rings campaign I play in.
