Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
“While women don’t have to all be warriors in a fantasy series to be strong or interesting, the way Arwen is portrayed in the story makes her come across as something of a damsel waiting around for Aragorn. Eowyn, on the other hand, is an active participant in the narrative. While she does somewhat see Aragorn as someone who can save her, she’s also willing to do what needs to be done to save herself. She comes across as less passive than Arwen and has some iconic moments such as slaying the Witch-King, and this makes her seem like a better match for Aragorn who is also a person of action.” - screenrant.com
It was only on my 6th or 7th The Two Towers rewatch that I made this connection:
Such a nice touch. And heartbreaking - just to think how many boys were forced to leave their families and face almost certain death in battle (some of them just after losing their fathers, like Haleth).
“The power of the enemy is growing. Sauron will use his puppet Saruman to destroy the people of Rohan. Isengard has been unleashed. The Eye of Sauron now turns to Gondor, the last free kingdom of men. His war on this country will come swiftly. He senses the Ring is close. The strength of the Ringbearer is failing. In his heart, Frodo begins to understand. The quest will claim his life. You know this. You have foreseen it. It is the risk we all took. In the gathering dark, the will of the Ring grows strong. It works hard now to find its way back into the hands of men. Men, who are so easily seduced by its power. The young captain of Gondor has but to extend his hand, take the Ring for his own and the world will fall. It is close now, so close to achieving its goal. For Sauron will have dominion over all life on this Earth, even unto the ending of the world. The time of the elves is over. Do we leave Middle-Earth to its fate? Do we let them stand alone?”
Happy 20th Anniversary to The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers
Okay so my dad introduced me to this dramatized version of Lord of the Rings and it is AMAZING! This guy took the sound effects, dialogue, and music directly from the movies to create the most in-depth audiobook I've ever listened to. It's 100% true to the book, completely unabridged. Listening to it just feels like you're there, right with them. 1000/10, highly recommend.
