bro jonathan harker watched his last act of rebellion go down in flames before his very eyes by a terrorizing vampire after a month of torture, fell into more depression for a few days and went anyways. let's get ready to do this again. man's a freak. man's a freak and it's only the beginning. you've been revoked from all right to say ''he cannot be in this adaption much he's boring 🤓" listen. he's terrified all the time doing the opposite of manfully machoing and refuses to torturously brood too much or get all cynical yet he's got a brand of crazy to compete with mad scientists. he just keeps going back. don't touch me.

dracula: of course you can leave, i wouldn’t keep you here against your will. it’s just…*raises his hand, the howling of wolves immediately sounds* there are so many wolves, jonathan!

For anyone curious or confused, by "brain fever" Sister Agatha doesn't mean an infection, that was just how the Victorians referred to, like, an acute psychological episode brought on by trauma or extreme stress.

Basically, Jonathan didn't have encephalitis or anything like that, he had a psychiatric breakdown from the trauma of his experiences in Dracula's castle.

In honor of Dracula Daily I’m going to be reposting Jonathan Harker’s Adventures in Castle Dracula, aka some little comics I made into a zine in 2017/18. Here’s the cover (og red and the pink version that ultimately looked better in print)
