#my art #so before I drew this I drew smth shitty with a shitty brush and I got a huge artblock and hated myself for a good hour or two then I was #about to post about my art block and how I was going to take a break from drawing then I looked at my lineless art again and remembered how #much fun it was when I just drew it lineless. I only forced myself to find a perfect brush/art style when in reality the perfect artstyle #was the one that made me happy. So I went to my notebook and I saw my beautiful old sketch I drew of bookmark in different povs with the ba #sketchiness of it. So I got inspired. I colored in between the bad sketches. #elena of avalor #beauty and the beast #batbedit #disneyedit #eoa edit #belle x beast #estebalena #kinda but also not kinda #I think a lot about the fact that it's been confirmed that this is an intentional homage #like EoA series supervising director Elliot M. Bour was just like casually bringing BATB into things as an Easter egg #since it was his first job in animation #and like don't get me wrong; I LOVE that he did this. I just don't know how he expected anyone (i.e. me) to be normal about it afterwards #once you've introduced BATB; it ceases to be a fun and casual reference and just makes the literature major girlies go feral #i thought this was gonna be a quick and easy little project but it wasn't #the parallels are all there but they're in slightly different order in EoA than the original and the pacing for each reference is differen #so i had to determine which ones I needed to skip frames for and which ones to use all the frames #and then try to figure out the speed from there #the coronation day scenes were very hard to color because the grey skies and muted filter kind of whitewash the characters #like you don't even understand i added so MUCH vibrance and saturation to the 4th and 5th gifs but elena's skin still is just gray #and the coloring is still just a very very mixed bag #also i've realized that while I don't think it was an intentional reference in the same way BATB was #anna's sacrifice and resurrection from frozen is perhaps just as --if not more-- a clear parallel to the coronation day scene than BATB #so maybe I will do that one someday too?#once i psych myself up again to try coloring coronation day again #which i imagine will be awhile #these do not look like the same scene and pretty much the same scene at all even if i tried to use the same psd when i could #and edit them to make the coloring as close as i could

I’m gonna have to accept my brain may always be soup at this point. But it beats feeling tortured all the time?

Anyway, pointless tattoo plotting. For myself. I don’t think it’s wise to consider what is basically an upper arm sleeve for my first, but it’s fantasy land if it’s just in the sketchbook and honestly? Anything to kick at the art block.

It’s all birds: blue Jay and Baltimore oriole, with fresh spring green ash leaves and an autumnal red oak. And maybe a hexagon in there somewhere, I can’t sort that out.

Anyway, this would encapsulate a lot of my favorite things in one go. All that’s missing is bugs! And a loon and pines, but that’s going on the other arm!

Maybe it’s futile to say this, but this humble scribble is for my use only.

I always wanted to play with the idea of Fi changing with the sword, I feel like it would’ve been very cool and her current design would leave a bigger impact or something.

The colors were the most challenging, I color picked on all the words but holy crap were some of those colors horrendous! Especially the middle one that’s a YIKES. I wanted to add the brighter blues and greens for it cuz I think it looks cool for the sword but I think for the spirit herself? It looks bad fhkdbdkdbdkd. Oh well, at least it’s temporary.

I also made some changes to the design itself. I LOVE Fi’s design, but I wanted her to look more like a ballerina or something. Since she’s a dancer, I thought ballet shoes were more appropriate than high heels. I also changed her dress thing to a leotard, which changes into those leotard dresses. I just thought it’d really show that how she delivers messages from the goddesses is by dancing. I’m not a dancer so idk what kind of dance moves she has, they remind me more of figure skaters, but I’m not putting her in ice skates fhkebdkebek. Idk, but I figured with the Ghirahim designs I made, that she deserves to have some designing as well! (Tho the shoes and the dress change was shown in an illustration I made of Ghirahim and Fi so that’s fun)
