Why is Sylvie angry?
I want to elaborate on this point a little bit, as some people either don't quite understand or are a confused by the plot.
Read more about the relationship between Sylvie and Loki here: sylki meta
Tumblr media
"TVA is in danger"
If TVA is in danger, then literally EVERYTHING is in danger. TVA cannot be destroyed or simply abandoned, because the Multiverse will begin to self-destruct. Time Loom is overloaded with too many branches. Previously, they were simply cut off, but now everyone finally understands that this is wrong and we need to find another way.
By the way, it is very interesting that the organisation that used to destroy everything can now become the biggest defender.
Tumblr media
Loki Time Slipping to the future and saw that the situation is getting worse, there is complete Chaos in TVA, the Loom is overloaded, and the Evacuation is taking place.
They have very little time to deal with this problem. Loki is interested in this, because if this is not done, then everything, everyone will come to an end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sylvie did not see all this and does not even imagine that such consequences could be. She had a terrible life to live and TVA was to blame. From her point of view, it was just a terrible organisation that had a dictator and he was the only one to blame for all the problems.
She killed HWR and dismissed Timeline. It's really free will, so everyone can do whatever they want, she can do whatever she wants. Has she been living on Timeline for a while and is everything okay? Yeah. Nothing terrible is happening. (The time difference from TVA makes itself felt)
Tumblr media
And then Loki appears. Their last meeting was difficult, neither of them understands why, each of them made this choice. They also have a time difference. Let me remind you that Sylvie does not know what happened at TVA and she cannot know what happened to Loki. They are both confused.
But she agrees to talk. The conversation is not going well. Sylvie concludes that Loki is worried about the TVA. This immediately creates a barrier between them because she had been hoping that the TVA was a thing of the past, that it was all behind them. However, it turns out that it's not, and this fear and threat are still present.
Loki focuses on TVA because he was pushed away. It's always easier for him to avoid a difficult topic, and the TVA problem is a real threat and he can't ignore it either.
Tumblr media
Sylvie does not back down as soon as she learns that the branches are going to be pruned. She helps and even takes the step to come to TVA. She's seen Loki and Mobius stop these Minutemens, so that gives her a little bit of confidence… BUT! It was a failure and many branches were pruned. She is very hurt by this and angry that what she fought against is coming back.
Again, she does not see the danger that Loki was about to tell her about. She has just witnessed the TVA doing what they have always done. This cannot inspire confidence or a desire to be in this place.
Tumblr media
But this situation does not give her peace of mind. So she takes another step.
I think she was following Ravonna, because she heard in the final ep2 that they were searching for her. Again, let me remind you that Sylvie does not know that Ravonna is not an ally at the moment.
When she finds Victor Timeley, she sees that Loki is going to take him to TVA. She interprets this in her own way and becomes very angry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From her point of view, the situation is as follows: Ravonna, Loki, and Mobius are working together. That is, she thinks they have a plan and want to bring He Who Remains back to TVA. She is very annoyed by this, she does not understand what is happening at all. Loki tries to explain, but using "TVA is in danger" only makes her angrier.
Let me remind you that even Loki was not happy with the idea of taking Viktor to TVA, but he understands that there is No Choice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Sylvie accuses Loki of collaborating with Ravonna, Loki looks very confused and says openly that isn`t the case. Sylvie thinks about it.
I also note the fact that none of them attack each other. Loki shields Victor because he believes that Sylvie will not harm him (Loki) - and he is right, she doesn't.
But no one will back down, so you have to get out of this situation, but she doesn't like to do it and it's clearly visible:
Tumblr media
Later, she finds everyone. She overhears their entire dialogue and finally realises that Ravonna is not an ally. Mobius also tells her that Victor needed at TVA because It`s in danger. She uses magic in time to rescue the situation.
She doesn't kill Viktor. Loki did not interfere at this point and trusted her to decide for herself. Let me remind you that a lot depends on it now, but he still makes no attempt to stop her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are the first steps towards trust and understanding of each other's actions. But it's a very good example of what happens when, instead of talking, people start to get angry or silent. This leads to complete misunderstanding and hurt.
This is a very real and live conflict. They could have avoided a lot of this if they had talked, but there are many things that get in the way, and the global threat is taking over.
They are growing, and I like that. I love watching deep stories. The characters have to have a path to reach some purpose, to learn about yourself.

okay, OKAY
I don't want to see anyone hating on Sylvie for her choices, especially if you're the type to say 'I want complex women characters'. She has spent the majority of her life on the run under the constant threat of being entirely unmade, quite literally forged in violence and fear.
Every single time, when given the opportunity, she will make the choice to escape the whole TVA-bullshit because all she wants in a normal life on a timeline of her own without the TVA, her literal oppressors. She doesn't want the TVA to improve, how can you fix something when the foundation was that.
She has every right to be selfish. She had every right to want Kangs variant dead. She has every right to want to be left alone.
Deep down, past the threats and armour, she is a scared little girl who was ripped out of existence for a crime so menial that no one remembers what it was. What she wants is to be alone, safe, and figure her shit out with a simple job at a fast food place and sad music on her record player.
So don't take her character as a one dimensional evil anti-Loki bitch, she is a fully fledged being trying to survive in truly the most batshit conditions.

Portal to My Heart (Book 3) Chapter Fifteen
Loki x Reader
Chapter Fifteen: With the Past
Summary: (Y/N) and Loki face He Who Remains and come to a realization.
Mouse Note: Only one more chapter to go. Already getting emotional.
“Sylvie,” groaned past (Y/N). “Sylvie, please!” She pushed the dagger against past Sylvie’s sword. “The cost of getting this wrong is too high!”
“Then kill me and take your throne with him,” spat Sylvie, pushing her weapon towards (Y/N)’s throat. Behind her, Loki flinched and moved to protect (Y/N), and HWR watched in amusement as the group fought at the End of Time.
And then (Y/N) and Loki of the future slipped into their past selves’ bodies. It was a barely perceptible change, but Sylvie furrowed her brow as (Y/N) and Loki looked at each other in some secret conversation.
“Sylvie,” said (Y/N). “You don’t want this.” She pushed her back from HWR.
“What’s happening?” said Sylvie in confusion as (Y/N) and Loki gazed at her with such emotion.
“You’re right. What were you thinking trusting us?” said Loki. “We can’t be trusted.”
“But you have to believe us. You can’t kill him. At least not yet. We need to talk, Sylvie,” said (Y/N). “It all ends if you kill him now.”
“We know this sounds strange,” said Loki. “But we’ve seen it. We know it.”
“Get out of my way,” sneered Sylvie, refusing to talk just like she’d done before.
“We won’t,” said (Y/N), unmoving as Sylvie approached with her sword.
Loki’s heart clenched worriedly since he still remembered with terrible clarity what had happened to (Y/N) the last time they had this battle.
“You’ve been seduced by a throne,” said Sylvie.
“The last thing we want is a throne,” said Loki, standing beside (Y/N).
“Just, stop for a moment!” said (Y/N).
“If you want to stop me, you’ll have to kill me,” said Sylvie resolutely. And then she swung.
(Y/N) ducked, and Loki parried. Sylvie surged forward, but (Y/N) held up a hand, and a portal opened. Sylvie stumbled through and ended up behind (Y/N) and Loki again instead of closer to HWR. Sylvie yelled in anger and threw out her magic, and (Y/N) and Loki went flying. Sylvie turned on HWR and slashed down.
“See you soon,” said HWR teasingly before dying.
Again…
“Sylvie, stop!” said (Y/N), blocking Sylvie’s sword as she pressed forward towards HWR. Loki grabbed her arm and wrenched it away from (Y/N).
“You want to stop me, you’ll have to kill me,” spat Sylvie, pivoting and hitting Loki back and sweeping (Y/N) off her feet.
“See you soon,” said HWR as he was stabbed.
Again…
(Y/N) was really getting tired of this, and she was remembering why Lokis were so frustrating in the first place, even if she was in love with one. They were all extremely stubborn. No matter how many times she and Loki tried to talk to Sylvie, she just wanted to fight and argue and kill HWR.
Again…
            “Stop, Sylvie!”
Again…
“You want to stop me, you’ll have to kill me.”
Again…
Her sword landed in HWR’s stomach.
Again…
            He slumped over.
Again…
            “See you soon.”
Again…
(Y/N) and Loki were losing their minds. After spending who knew how long fighting to get the Multiplier to work, now they were spending who knew how long physically fighting someone they cared about. They were tired, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Sylvie threw her sword at HWR, and Loki summoned his magic to suspend it in the air before it hit in. Sylvie growled and pulled the sword back towards her, but (Y/N) summoned a portal and sent it to the other side of the room while Loki grabbed Sylvie’s arm and put his dagger to her neck to defend (Y/N).
“If you want to stop me, you’ll have to kill me,” spat Sylvie.
Loki and (Y/N) just sighed sadly. They couldn’t hurt her. Loki let go and stepped back. (Y/N) and Loki watched in exhausted melancholy as Sylvie ran forward, pulled her sword to her, and stabbed HWR for the millionth time.
            “See you soon.”
Those words were the worst ones.
Again…
“If you want to stop me—”
“We’ll have to kill you, we know,” groaned (Y/N).
Again…
“Why don’t you ever try to stop her? Fight back? Anything?” demanded Loki, looking at HWR in exasperation.
HWR casually picked up his bracelet and ran a hand over it. The entire room froze, and Sylvie paused in her act of attacking, leaving just Loki, (Y/N), and HWR moving.
“So, how many times have you been at this?” said HWR.
“What did you do?” said Loki. He prompted the discussion like they did each time. (After all, (Y/N) and he had tried speaking to HWR already. They weren’t idiots. Well, (Y/N) wasn’t.)
“Oh, come on. You’re not telling me you haven’t learned how to pause time yet,” said HWR, smirking. He chuckled. “I figured you’d be way past that.” (Y/N) gazed at Sylvie, and HWR chuckled. “Don’t worry. She’s okay. But she is in the eyeline a little bit. So why don’t we just…” He snapped, and Sylvie disappeared.
“So, this isn’t the first time we’ve had this conversation, is it?” remarked HWR.
“How did you know?” said (Y/N).
“I know about the slipping,” said HWR as if it was obvious. “And who do you think paved that road? And guess what? Survey says…”
            “He Who Remains,” scowled (Y/N).
“Bingo!” said HWR. “I knew you were my favorite for a reason. Always figuring things out, first. Here you were, slipping through time. Thinking you were, you were sticking it to the system. Gonna beat the man. And then—whoops!” He grinned and threw out his arms. “Here he is!” He chuckled. “Aww, did you two really think I was just gonna sit back and let her kill me? And that’d be it? Zip? Nada?”
“I knew you still wanted your power,” muttered (Y/N).
“No need to be so mad,” said HWR. “I told you: reincarnation, baby!”
“ ‘We die with the dying. We’re born with the dead,’ ” quoted Loki.
“Uh-huh…” HWR clearly didn’t understand. But (Y/N) did. She was tempted to smirk at the (finally) confused look on its face. “Okay, so, this is a lot for you. I get it. So why don’t you go through this a couple thousand more times?” He grinned. “Get your bearings. And then you just…you just let me know. Okay, when you’re ready to have a conversation. Okay?” He pressed his bracelet device, and Sylvie appeared.
She stumbled as she unfroze and looked around in confusion. She took a step towards the group gathered at the desk, and (Y/N) and Loki held up their hands simultaneously. Sylvie froze once more. HWR’s smile fell.
“And what makes you think this is the first time we’ve had this conversation?” remarked Loki darkly.
“We’re your favorites for a reason. Or, I am. Of course we figured it out,” said (Y/N).
HWR smirked and chuckled, pleased by the development. “Quite the pair you are.” He looked between them. “I mean, you are together now, right? Adorable.” (Y/N) rolled her eyes and took a seat with Loki. “Okay. So, it seems you’ve figured it all out, hm? Tell me, how is this Victor T-T-Timely?” He grinned as he exaggerated the stutter.
“Of course you know about your—”
HWR cut off Loki. “Wait. Don’t tell me. You’re, you’re, you’re…having some problems with the Temporal Loom.” With great showmanship, he revealed the truth.
            “Scaling problem,” said Loki.
“Scaling problem? That’s what he told you?” laughed HWR. “Victor told you it’s a scaling problem? Wow. No. No, there’s no, there’s no problem.”
(Y/N)’s eyes narrowed. “It destroyed the TVA and all of reality. That is a problem by definition.”
“The Temporal Loom is a failsafe,” said HWR. “When the Loom is overloaded with branches, it deletes the ones that aren’t supposed to be there.”
(Y/N) and Loki’s eyes widened. So one branch had remained. Everything else was destroyed, but one survived.
“Everything except the Sacred Timeline,” said HWR.
(Y/N) and Loki began to chuckle deliriously.
“The TVA, that’s just-that’s just collateral damage.” HWR shrugged. “Look, no biggie. Easy to rebuild.”
“What a waste of time,” said Loki.
“And as you may or may not know, my Variants are already out there,” said HWR.
            “We’ll find them,” said (Y/N).
            “There’s too many,” said HWR.
            “We won’t stop,” said Loki.
            “Doesn’t matter,” said HWR.
“Hasn’t stopped us before,” said (Y/N).
“I know, champs,” said HWR, vaguely amused at their determination. “But the outcome of this equation remains…remains the same. You lose.”
“We know,” said Loki, reaching out and brushing his fingers against (Y/N)’s knuckles as a show of union and solidarity.
(Y/N) got up and began to pace. Her mind was whirring with a million thoughts and feelings and ideas.
“Shake it off,” encouraged HWR. “I mean, you do remember I offered you this power, but you refused.” He shrugged. “So, we come back to me, and I suspected as much, so I had everything ready to go.”
Ready to prune people exercising free will no matter what we try to do, thought (Y/N) angrily. She turned and spotted a chalkboard on the wall. She cocked her head and walked over. Loki rose behind her as he saw her interest. “I’ll change the equation,” said (Y/N). “We’ll change the equation.” She turned to face HWR. “We can break your Loom, your game, and play by our own rules.”
“But…the Loom prevents a brutal war where nothing survives, (Y/N). Not even the Sacred Timeline,” said HWR, slightly concerned by how resolved she seemed. He glanced and saw Loki thinking through (Y/N)’s words and starting to come to the same resolution. “Okay, let’s try it this way, every…every moment of peace—” he stood “—you’ve ever experienced was yours because I was here. Alone, at the end of time, keeping watch.”
“We understand,” said Loki, and HWR watched in confusion as Loki was not swayed and instead stood strongly beside (Y/N).
HWR swallowed. “But you want to break the Loom. What do you think would happen to your friends? I made the tough choices. That’s why I get the big chair. I keep us safe. Can’t you see what I’m offering here…is mercy?”
“For us or for you?” said Loki. He faced HWR. “No. We’ll find another way. Not yours.”
HWR hung his head in disappointment. “Okay.” He flicked his bracelet, and Sylvie returned, still frozen in time. “And around and around and around we go. Let’s see it. Make the hard choice.”
“We’re not killing her,” said (Y/N) coldly.
“Well, break the Loom and you cause a war that kills us all,” said HWR. “Game over. Or…kill her, and we protect what you can.”
(Y/N) and Loki gazed at their friend, Sylvie. Then they turned to one another. And they understood what they saw in each other’s eyes. Resolution. Determination. A willingness to do whatever it took to protect the people they cared about.
(Y/N) turned and stared evenly at HWR. “You think you can get everything you want. But you can’t. We won’t let you. People deserve to have free will.”
“And we’ll give it to them,” said Loki.
HWR sighed. “Unwilling to make the hard choices.”
“No.” (Y/N) took Loki’s hand. “We’re willing to make the hardest of all.” She smiled, and it was light and peaceful. “Goodbye, He Who Remains. Time is no longer yours.”
            “What?” he said in confusion.
            “It’s ours,” said Loki.
And as HWR watched in surprise, Loki and (Y/N) time-slipped away.
l
(Y/N) jolted as she entered her body from so long ago. Around her, the Battle of New York raged, and the Chitauri and the Avengers were involved in fierce combat. (Y/N) watched Thor fly away and Loki struggle to his feet. (Y/N) lunged for the scepter before he could grab it.
“Give that here, Midgardian,” growled 2012 Loki.
“Listen, Loki, I’m only going to say this once,” said (Y/N).
2012 Loki furrowed his brow and stared at (Y/N). This wasn’t the Midgardian he was dealing with before. The snapping tone was the same, but the way she held herself…It wasn’t trying to hide from his wrath at all.
“I’d watch what I say, Midgardian. You’re a single defenseless mortal,” said 2012 Loki.
(Y/N) sighed as 2012 Loki advanced on her and held the scepter in front of her. “Do we really have to do this again?”
2012 Loki lunged and summoned his magic.
            “Apparently we do,” said (Y/N).
She sighed and fired the scepter. 2012 Loki dodged, and at the moment the scepter/mind stone tried to get into (Y/N)’s head, she tossed the scepter to the side. 2012 Loki tried to reach for it, but (Y/N) summoned a portal and the scepter disappeared from the penthouse.
            “How—”
“Can you slow down for a moment and talk?” asked (Y/N). She raised a hand, and blue energy swirled around it. “If not, we can keep going.”
2012 Loki narrowed his eyes. “What the hell is going on?”
“That is way too long of a story to explain,” said (Y/N). She grinned. “But I can tell you one thing.”
            “What?”
“None of what you’re doing here matters,” chirped (Y/N).
            “Excuse me?” snapped 2012 Loki.
“Yeah, all of this doesn’t mean anything.” (Y/N) laughed. “I mean, it’s just your emotions getting the better of you.”
“I have a right to a throne,” growled 2012 Loki.
“No, you just don’t want to be alone in your brother’s shadow,” said (Y/N).
2012 Loki started. “How do you—”
“But you aren’t alone,” continued (Y/N). She smiled. “I mean, it’ll take you some time, but you’ll find people. You just need to remember that no matter who your brother is, what matters is who you are, and the right people will care about that.”
2012 Loki stared at her. “You can’t be (Y/N).”
“I am,” said (Y/N). “I’m just the (Y/N) that got the time to know you.” She smiled softly. “You should give yourself a chance to just…be yourself instead of trying to be something you’re not.” She stepped forward, and 2012 Loki stared at her hesitantly. “Loki. You’ve protected so many people and will keep doing so. You’ve got a glorious purpose.”
            2012 Loki’s eyes widened.
“Just let yourself find it.” (Y/N) time-slipped away before he could respond.
l
Loki slipped into hist past self’s body and looked around to find himself at the gala in Stuttgart. He had his arm around 2012 (Y/N)’s waist and was guiding her through the gallery of the museum.
“You also expect us to be pitiable creatures you can conquer with little effort. Clearly, your expectations are wrong,” said 2012 (Y/N).
“I was wrong,” said Loki, turning to face 2012 (Y/N).
“Uh, what?” said 2012 (Y/N), confused by the change in tone and body language. It wasn’t harsh or cruel; it was honest and gentle.
“I was wrong,” said Loki. “About you, about Earth, about myself.” He took her hand and squeezed gently. “And I’m sorry for all I did and will do.”
“What are you doing? I don’t like mind games,” said 2012 (Y/N) icily.
Loki chuckled. “I know. And I know you don’t fall for them. So, please, know I’m telling the truth.” 2012 (Y/N) narrowed her eyes doubtfully but didn’t cut him off, so Loki continued. “Thank you, (Y/N). You have no idea what you did for me. You saved me from myself, and though everything I put you through, you stayed so strong.” Loki smiled. “You truly are someone incredible.”
            “I am so confused,” muttered 2012 (Y/N).
“I know you are,” said Loki. “But I swear, everything will work out. Because you are resilient and so much stronger than you realize.” He gazed at 2012 (Y/N) with such incredible fondness. “You are such a bright light in all the darkness of the world. You fight for freedom even when everyone else wants to give up, and you bring others to strength. You have such a glorious purpose in this world, and if you knew just how important you are to so many people, you’d be amazed.” Loki squeezed her hand. “So stay strong. Everything will be alright.”
            2012 (Y/N)’s eyes widened.
“Just keep fighting for what you believe.” Loki time-slipped away before she could respond.
l
(Y/N) and Loki slipped into their bodies in the End of Time where they sat on the hill before facing Alioth. Sylvie had just walked away after giving (Y/N) the kiss on her cheek.
“I knew you’d come back here,” said Loki smiling.
“Well, it was the last moment we had any sort of peace,” said (Y/N). It was quiet while the other Loki variants, Sylvie, and Mobius spoke in small groups behind them and planned the plan to take on Alioth in a more detailed way. (Y/N) and Loki, though, got a moment to be alone again.
“Our bodies will forget that we spoke,” said Loki.
“I think so,” said (Y/N). She smiled and leaned back slightly. “But I don’t really mind. We remember what happens, even if everyone else in every branch and redo of time doesn’t. That’s what matters.”
They were silent for a moment, and (Y/N) leaned her head on Loki’s shoulder. Before anything else, the pair got a minute of peace to just be with one another.
“We both know what we have to do,” said Loki.
“We have to keep reality from unraveling,” said (Y/N). She closed her eyes and took a deep breath of the air. “It’s going to be hard, though.”
“It’s a hard choice to make,” said Loki. “It will cost us…”
“Everything,” finished (Y/N). She smiled and lifted Loki’s hand to kiss the back. “But we’ll do it together.”
“I’m nervous,” admitted Loki. “I’ve never done anything like this.”
“I feel that way, too,” said (Y/N). “But we have no choice but to succeed. I won’t leave people without free will. I want every branch to have its chance at life. This is our purpose.”
“Our glorious purpose,” said Loki, smiling. They would do it all together. “Our” glorious purpose. The pair balanced each other out.
(Y/N) looked up at him. “My God of Stories.”
“My Goddess of Freedom,” said Loki.
He leaned down and kissed her, and she kissed back, fingers intertwined. And for a few minutes, they allowed themselves peace.
