· Se conoce como Vidrio de Carnaval (Carnival Glass), a un tipo de vidrio prensado, cuyas tonalidades se vuelven iridiscentes al ser rociados en caliente, justo en su momento de terminación, con un compuesto de minerales que incluyen hierro, cobre, zinc o selenio. Esta técnica se inventó en los Estados Unidos al principio del siglo XX. Los promotores fueron los hermanos Frank y John Fenton, que habían comprado en 1905 la vieja cristalería Martins Ferry en Belmont County, Ohio. Si bien, en 1906, deciden mudarse al otro lado del rio Ohio, para construir una nueva fábrica denominada Fenton Art Glass Company, en Williamstown, West Virginia. Allí empezaron a elaborar objetos decorativos y servicios de mesa dirigidos a la clase media, con precios muy asequibles, pero inspirados en los costosos modelos de famosas marcas como Tiffany o Loetz.
