Livid was such a bad movie but the concept was so cool (scary old vampire lady lives in creepy house and needs constant blood transfusions to keep living, her undead mute daughter is kept as a clockwork ballerina to dance for eternity, creepy imagery, taxidermied animal heads on dolls at a tea party etc.) yet it was so boring!! it had a Rule of Rose esque aesthetic and with a better director *cough* Pascal Laugier *cough* it could have made a lot more sense and had better structure (too much time is wasted on the irritating main trio who invade this woman's house)

30 Days Of Horror
Day 7: A movie you think no one has seen
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the strangest, bloodiest, most beautiful vampire films I've ever seen. The director duo are best known for the movie Inside, and I'm pretty sure this being completely different in content and tone is a big part of why it flew under the radar - which is a damn shame, since I think it's their best. It's only ever popped up on streaming once, last year, and I pretty much forced everyone I could get to watch it.

Genuinely, what is the point of setting the Fallout show on the west coast if it was just going to invalidate everything that happened in the West Coast Trilogy. Shady Sands has fallen, the NCR is a memory, New Vegas is a crater in the ground. The New California Republic, Caesar's Legion, The Enclave, Mr. House, all brushed to the side for a wasteland with no semblance of human society beyond shanty-towns; with no semblance of the legitimate cities of Fallouts 2 and New Vegas. All to what end? To allow the Brotherhood of Steel to make an undeserved comeback?
If anything, I think the series should be the final nail in the coffin that Bethesda fundamentally misunderstands Fallout. In a franchise whose very nature is defined by the Atom Bomb and how it was used as a means to an end by a corrupt Capitalist system; how humanity rose from the ashes of a broken world with the dream of building something better; how our only hope for the future is to learn from our past mistakes and create a world where they can never be made again; Bethesda seems determined to keep us stuck in the past. That we should never advance past the ideals of the nation that led us to this nuclear landscape in the first place, that we should never try to make something new atop the ashes of what came before. That we should just forever stay rats scurrying in the wastes, amongst the shattered visage of Ozymandias and the fruits of his labor, looking up to what he left behind as an example of the kind of existence we should strive to create. Very telling indeed.

there is nothing essential about russian culture that puts the country on a warpath against its neighbors; there is nothing inherently cruel, violent, or sadistic to be found in it. there is likewise nothing about azerbaijanis or turks that makes them predisposed to barbarity against armenians, kurds, greeks. we are going to see all this happen again and again and again if we buy into this superficial, reactionary argument

Phantom does not like Bruce Wayne, he tells Batman with a completely serious face.
Phantom is hanging out in the Watchtower, shooting the shit with Green Arrow.
Well, Phantom is talking shit about rich people.
"Sounds like a personal grudge," Batman comments idly. Lots of people don't like rich people, so he isn't actually offended.
"Oh, I just hate a select few. Oliver Queen? He's fine." Green Arrow visibly preens.
Batman feels a lip twitch, but fights the smile.
"What about Bruce Wayne?" Superman asks, very deliberately not looking at Batman.
Phantom snorts.
"Bruce Wayne? I hope he wrecks one of those fancy cars and needs both his feet amputated."
The room goes completely silent.
"Holy crap, kid; what'd he do?"
"He backed Vlad Masters is what he did. The Wayne Tech he provided was used to get one-up on me; took me literally two months to escape." The kid cracks his neck, and the high neckline moves enough to show off a shiny new red scar.
Bruce feels the world drop from under his feet.
"He what?" The question is ripped from Batman's throat before he even finishes thinking it.
"Oh yeah, he also financially backed the supporting senators behind the anti-ecto acts. Bruce Wayne is a literal useless sack of shit."
"...I'm sorry, the anti-ecto what?" Superman's voice is strained as he asks, and his eyes are already starting to glow.
Bruce, after getting back to the cave, pulls Tim aside and together they rip into every single transaction the board did both over the table and under it.
And there it is.
Multiple board members had been using Bruce Wayne's name as they donated to shady politicians, essentially sold off his developmental tech that was supposed to be disposed of, and had been embezzling funds.
On all official papers, Bruce Wayne was the biggest backer for a law that was in clear violation of Meta Rights.
