The live action reboot forgets to charm us with the magic and beauty of Neverland and the joy of an adventure with Peter before everything goes wrong. This made for a movie that was darker, less whimsical but otherwise pretty good. The highlights were more substantial and influential parts for the women in the cast, solid acting, so much fun sword fighting, and most importantly, the addition of some surprisingly haunting, bad ass pirate shanties.

2. I always wanted to draw Silvermist and Ariel together

3. From my Tinker Bell Reboot (Tangentially related)- I like the idea of Sil befriending mermaids in general, so I’m incorporating it.

instead of supporting disney's latest cash grab can i suggest watching The 7D instead? it's a spinoff series that came out 9 years ago that disney cancelled prematurely during season 2. it's hilarious and well animated and some of the writers worked on Animaniacs so that's how you KNOW its good.

EDIT: i am turning off replies for this post. now that we have more information on the cartoon reboot, some of these statements are inaccurate. however, it is still important to remember how g1 treated jinafire, betsy, isi, and marisol among other stereotypical characters. they were all sidelined. it is equally important to realize that g3 dolls are being whitewashed. the live-action movie also has a lot of issues (e.g., frankie’s cornrows). in addition to this, please bear in mind that we have our first canon LGBTQ+ representation that wasn’t hidden in subtext. clawdeen is NOT canonically lesbian and even if you want to argue that she is, where was her canon coming out or open queerness? now we have a main out and proud character, and more casual representation on some of the characters’ parents. i think that at the time, this was a good, optimistic post to share, but please check out my pinned post for more updated information about the issues with g3. mattel is only a corporation. their job is to make money. although my hopes were high, i recognize that it’s almost a one step forward, many steps back situation. thank you all for your thoughts and opinions.

I could never forget someone criticizing that wretched live action because aang’s actor is gonna obviously get older and that the original show only takes place in under a year. and the root of their criticism was that “kataang is gonna look less weird” 😭

when aang very obviously matures faster (both physically and emotionally) than the average 12 year old boy between seasons 1 and 3. (like you’re gonna tell me season 1 aang on kyoshi island and finale aang look the same to you??)

because, newsflash, aang is NOT a real human boy.

he exists in a fantasy world where people bend the elements.

and expecting a live action to realistically portray a fantasy cartoon child god correctly was your first and biggest mistake.

The live action Lilo and Stitch, if they really insist on making it, they better have Stitch disrupt other live action disney movies scenes for trailers. It'd be a sin not to.

If you keep the characters but change the message they were made to say, the new message will ruin those characters.

If you keep the message but change the characters that were made to communicate that message, you’ll communicate the message poorly. You’ll also still wind up ruining the characters.

My idea for a scooby do reboot would be the gang attempting to stage their own fake supernatural horror in a Halloween mask because people have stopped doing it and they feel the new group of 15 year old mystery solvers need it for their constitution.

They took the ideas from the OG script and turned it into the MH 2022 version we have today.

The premise of the OG was about JJ/HH being half normies!

They literally just gave that plot line to Clawdeen, changing the lore and shoving compelling characters out of the way!!!
