my speak now tv vault track/overall impressions are under the cut if anyone wants to read! wrote these right after listening for the first time :) they got long (a girl has a lot of feelings about speak now! who would've thought)

• electric touch!!!!!!! this is such a cute song omfg. i love the way she writes about love as fire so much (and i think it's interesting considering another common motif she uses is love as a religion...hm. anyway.) if i had to guess when this was written it would've been closer to the beginning of the process bc fearless taylor's sensibilities come through a lot. i can see why they cut it bc it's so similar to sparks fly in concept. i LOVE THE FOB FEATURE.

• when emma falls in love: "little miss sunshine always thinks it's gonna rain" & other incredible one liners!!!!!! OH MY GOD THE BRIDGE. I KNEW I WAS GOING TO LOVE THIS ONE. i understand why they cut this one bc it's not explicitly personal until the bridge and it is speak now after all. even though i think "when emma falls in love i'm learning" (or whatever it is) is a bit of a clumsy lyric, the sentiment is soooooooo dhsksjshdhjdbd. like of course she was looking to her friends and being envious of their relationships going well based on what she was experiencing. it's a beautiful companion piece to btr and little speak now honestly, and i think the themes of comparing yourself to other women on this album are super interesting and relatable.

• i can see you: OMFG DHSGSJDGSJHDKSHSKVDJD UP AGAINST A WALL WITH ME?????? I LOVE HER THIS IS SO FUNNY AND SO FUCKING GOOD WTF. obviously we all know why they cut this. the professional business vibe is so funny like girl why do u want a business man. unfortunately my brain went straight to emily poe bc the gaylor pathways run deep. where was this song 4 months ago. ANYWAY. i'm so glad she let this one bejeweled bc horny teenager music is kind of unmatched. i love her for this.

• castles crumbling: okay nothing new precursor!!! i have a feeling this will be a grower for me. the arrangement/production reminds me of an overly cheesy song that would play during the credits/climactic moment montage during a movie? idk. idk how i feel about it but it certainly is in line with the sound of the rest of the album (haunted, long live). i can't quite tell if she's writing about hypotheticals or if this is stuff she already experienced. the "power went to my head" is so interesting because like. bbygirl u were a kid of course it was going to do that. idk. i thought the second verse was stronger. i think the castles crumbling imagery as an explicit ending to the fairytale themes coming from fearless is a little too on the nose. least fave so far but could def grow on me.

• foolish one: this is SO CUTE. i love this one so much. i'm convinced that the last chorus at the end (her lower register sounds soooooo good there but we all knew that) was something she added retroactively. it feels like present her talking to younger her which is so sweet (but also 😵‍💫). an excellent more realistic thematic companion to little speak now i think. she's so good at these sweet upbeat countryish songs and i will happily take them every time. (edit: "you are not the exception" is a "the only exception" reference, no?)

• timeless: IT'S NOT A TAYLOR ALBUM WITHOUT AN OUR LOVE IS FATE SONG!!!!!! the historical fiction nerd in me is obsessed with this one. THE ROMEO AND JULIET/LOVE STORY CALLBACK IN THE SECOND VERSE??????? OKAY LITERARY GENIUS. the instrumentation is so lush and perfect and the subtle horns are soooooooo nice. it might be recency bias but i think this is my favorite one.

overall I thought it was really interesting to see which songs she cut and how two of them were seemingly because they were too "explicit" in some ways. let baby taylor be horny on main!!!!!!!!! it's really interesting to compare castles crumbling to long live and see how those fears about fame turning sour for her were already very present. it gives more context to the long live bridge imo. overall none of these have like recontextualized the album for me in the way the red vault did (or feel like they were touching on missing pieces of the story ig) but they definitely added some more color to certain themes. i am trying to not think about how i can see you could easily be about jm. overall i'm happy with the speak now album we got but i'm obvs also very glad to have these songs <3

my full thoughts on the new versions of the original 1989tv songs for anyone who cares:

wtny: mostly similar, no complaints i like the updated sound

blank space: so much more CRISP omg and the seagulls fighting in the lyric vid lmao

style: the guitar riff is DIFFERENT but style is always a slay

ootw: jack and taylor know wtf they're doing, always have and this song has always been such a masterpiece in production. amazing

ayhtdws: if there are no ayhtdws fans, that means i have died. anyway again it's more crisp and i literally had to get up and dance along, i couldn't sit still it's PERFECT

shake it off: super good, 10/10 would play it at my wedding to get people out of their seats, love the "bah bah bah baaaah"s at the end as always

iwyw: love how clear her voice is, no complaints but what's that background sound at the end? was that there before?

bad blood: takes me back to 2014 immediately, sad there's no version with a kendrick feature (edit--it's back!! love that there's a deluxe). the music/production never gets talked about enough, it's super good i'm hoping tv fixes this

wildest dreams: obviously we've already heard it but omg her voice is so good i love taylor i loved this song in the original era and loved getting it again in 2021 when i was first becoming a proper swiftie

hygtg: loving the overall clarity and snappiness with the snare. the background vocals are more noticeable in the chorus, i love that. and the squeak in the second verse!! oh my god??

this love: will never get over the little lyric change (in a good way). this will probably never be among my top ts songs, but much respect for its lovers

i know places: love it, super true to the original but elevated, which is what i hoped for

clean: this SONG. everyone loves it for a reason. quite different from the original (backup vocals mostly, but some other stuff too), but i like it as its own entity. i'll miss the original but i will learn to love this one lol

wonderland: love love love the clearer/more mature vocals and love that the little squeaks (is there a term for these?) are still there, they give the song such character. 10/10

yail: super good, loving the clearer music, i've never really listened for it beneath the vocals (other than the main bits) in the original, so i like that it's amplified. the end of bridge/start of the last chorus "YOOOOU are in love!" is a little lackluster though :/

new romantics: pop perfection. what more can i say? there's a reason this song is so heavily associated with this album/era as a whole. the vocals are a little quiet for my liking in the chorus (at least on yt and w/ my headphones, idk) but still 10/10

overall obviously i'm not used to it yet and it will take time to get used to it instead of the original because i've listened to this album so much (esp compared to fearless tv and red tv and their originals, since i was just becoming a swiftie in 2021) but it's REALLY good, excited to keep listening on repeat. thank you taylor x

Getting a little

About Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) because 22 tracks including 6 vault songs does not add up. That means 16 album tracks, 6 vault tracks.

The standard version of Speak Now (Original Version) has 14 tracks. The deluxe version has 20.

With both Fearless TV and Red TV she did the deluxe versions. So with SNTV she’s either leaving tracks off completely (unlikely), making some deluxe version tracks vault songs (which would be new), or something else.

Looking at the deluxe edition, we already know If This Was A Movie won’t be on SNTV. She has already revised that history. She lives in the fearless TV era now.

So that brings us down to 19 tracks on the deluxe version. I think the pop remix of Mine would be another she could eliminate. She did the Forever and Always Piano version and State Of Grace acoustic, but mine is a remix. So it’s different.

Down to 18.

So that leaves us with Ours, Superman, and the two acoustic versions.

So here’s where the murder board and red string come out.

Either she is just not doing the acoustic versions this time, which wouldn’t match the previous releases. OR my next theory is she is going to have a deluxe version of SNTV with a red cover like the original release.

But that still doesn’t add up! Because that would be 14 tracks and 6 vault songs. And then 19 tracks and ???

She could also maybe just not have Better Than Revenge and Innocent on there, but that’s even less likely for me than any other theory.

It just doesn’t add up. None of it. No matter which way you try to make it work, except the deluxe (Taylor’s Version) idea. Which would be a lot, but go off queen. I’d love a red version of that new cover.

Anyway, the point is: When things Taylor does do not add up, it usually means our minds are going to explode.

So get ready? Maybe?

Mine: AHHHH!!! So happy!

Sparks Fly: i just realized how smooth all the Taylor’s version songs sound. Her little country voice cracks in this song are gone. I really like a lot of the notes in the OG that had voice cracks so it’s interesting to hear what got smoothed over. Still good though!

Back to December: oh the production is CLEAN. The guitar is SHARP. The vocals are CLEAR. There’s a new twang to this one. Use it in a movie.

Speak Now: i just realized the I Bet You Think About Me music video is the malicious version of this song. “Forever hold your peace” part sounds so nice. The laugh :)

Dear John: *instrumentals play* get wreckt John Mayer. This hurted. Send help. This song is not playing!!! How did the angst get worse??? Girl?????

Mean: oh yes the countryyyyyy. some of the lines have different emphasis. She sounds like she’s having fun. I hope she knows she’s finally gotten big enough.

Story of Us: okay so at first I was kinda missing the unhingedness of the original but it’s still a bop. Man I missed high note Taylor. :) (i love lower register Taylor but sometimes you just need a belt)

Never Grow Up: i am not prepared for hearing older Taylor sing this. I listened to baby Taylor sing this recently and it hits different graduating from college. 😭 hnnnnnnnn.

Enchanted: 1:25 am lets go. Techincally this is the only song i’ve heard with grown up Taylor voice cause of tour so I wanna see if it’s different than live. Are the “please don’t be in love with someone else” different or is this just me?

Better than Revenge: listen. Listen. That new line through me for a LOOP but I’m still gonna sing Vigilante S***’s predecessor LOUD. New line’s catchy though.

Innocent (my beloved): HIT. the nostalgia really jumped out at this one.

Foolish One: 2010s bop. This feels like it just stepped off of Fearless era into Speak Now, chronologically speaking. Sad lyrics though dang. I love the lower register voice at the end. Younger Taylor, Older taylor?

Timeless: we made it to the end! We are swaying. We are grooving. This feels very Taylor. the soulmate AU jumped out. Ah Timeless is so good, it’s such a good ending, and I missed this sound from Taylor gah!!!

Hi Cossette! I enjoy MUNA's discography (their self-titled release from 2022 is really good) :D I just quickly looked up some details on The Japanese House's upcoming album and there will be a MUNA collab!!

One of my favourite Phoebe Bridgers features happen to be Silk Chiffon from MUNA's self-titled album! I also enjoy her more acoustic collabs e.g. Nothing New, but Silk Chiffon is a pleasant surprise in that the song is more sonically polished and upbeat (though the lyrics are nevertheless very moving)

For Speak Now TV, I'm most excited about the vault tracks: the previously unreleased self-written songs that she wrote in 2009 ~ 2010. I don't have any specific songs on the top of my mind, but I'm certainly preparing to be surprised by her choices!

In addition to the vault tracks, I'm also looking forward to listening to Sparks Fly and Back To December with the much improved production & vocals in the re-recording! (and yes!! fingers crossed that she will expand more of Speak Now & the Debut in the later shows of Th Era Tour)

I just looked up about Gracie's upcoming deluxe version of Good Riddance and am looking forward to hearing the bonus tracks :D Listening to deluxe / expanded versions is fascinating that you get to appreciate a musician's creative process towards working on the main album e.g. the songs that almost made it to the standard tracklist and it's a joy to see these songs seeing the light of the day 💖

Gracie had mentioned about personal growth whilst working on Good Riddance, so the deluxe tracks will be a wonderful opportunity to listen to the additional songs that paved way towards her maturing artistry!

P.S. Speaking of album tracks, what are some of your all-time favourite deluxe / bonus album songs?

hello jennifer!!! i hope you're having a good thursday! i saw something about a MUNA collab, and saw something about bon iver also being on the album and i'm so so excited. i know justin has worked with the japanese house before on dionne, and i really like the way their voices blend together so i'm really excited for whichever track he ends up on — i'm just so excited for in the end it always does to drop! i've been listening to sunshine baby nonstop (to be fair, i haven't been listening to a lot of music this week though).

i've only listened to the MUNA "essentials" playlist and i really like the things i've heard but i need to do a proper deep dive! i downloaded all three of their albums to listen to on the plane tomorrow, but we'll see if i actually end up listening to it! speaking of speak now TV, i wonder when we'll get a speak now TV vault puzzle! i would love for debut to get it's own section (and for more speak now songs on tour), but i feel like it's pretty set in stone now unfortunately, at least for the US leg. i'm still crossing my fingers for surprise songs though! there are a lot of things on speak now that i'm attached to (like the shaky breath in last kiss) that i hope she'll keep for the rerecording too! and yes!! i'm super super excited for gracie's deluxe good riddance! i ordered the vinyl a little bit ago, and i'm really glad that i waited to order it (there was a good riddance vinyl available in the UK that i almost caved and bought, but it didn't include the deluxe tracks). noah kahan is also, i believe, announcing the deluxe version of stick season today (?) which is exciting! i think his vinyl is also going to include the deluxe songs, which i'm really thrilled about. i'm still a little bit bummed that the midnights 3 AM songs aren't on vinyl!

i think my favorite deluxe/bonus album songs include: if this was a movie, come back...be here, jump then fall (i'm counting fearless platinum edition), the great war, new romantics, you are in love, wonderland, bruises by reneé rapp, it'll all work out by phoebe bridgers, and then all four tracks on the emails i can't send: fwd album by sabrina carpenter (opposite, feather, lonesome, and things i wish you said). i feel like i'm missing some songs here, but that's all i can think of right now! what are some of your favorites? 🤍

I found the copy of Fearless: platinum edition that my dad burned for me and my sister as kids back in 2008/9ish and I popped it in because I couldn't remember what the old versions sounded like anymore and Fearless was my first Taylor album and is still my favorite Taylor album to this day, and she sounds like such a little baby I almost can't believe it 😭 I'm so used to the TV now she almost sounds younger than she does on debut which I was JUST listening to too so I can tell you for a fact and this is just so crazy and yet so healing for my inner child.

i get that taylor is adding songs that came later in the era (like platinum edition tracks and today was a fairytale) in the taylor's versions. but a little part of me goes insane over the fact that beautiful eyes and i heart ? are on the bonus tracks from the japanese edition of fearless, but not on the bonus tracks of fearless tv. like yes sonically they probably would fit better on debut anyways. but for some unexplainable reason despite not owning the japanese cd i feel like we should be respecting it or something

I prefer TV Better Man over LBT 100%.

Don’t get me wrong, LBT version is great but there’s just something about Taylor’s vocals, the intensity and realness in her voice that I love.

tbh, I've barely listened to TV Better Man. I tried release week but I just couldn't get passed the fact that it didn't sound like how I expected Better Man Taylor's Version to sound

But I mean............ this was my problem with the Fearless vault and why most of it is truly unlistenable to me and that's I don't want to hear her create the songs as they would sound now in her discography. I want to hear the songs as an extension of the album. Basically, I'm looking for the album's extended cut - like the deluxe editions - and what I'm getting is an EP that plays after the album.

So things like Better Man's changes and ATW10MV being a pop song out of nowhere just feel............. awkward. I'm listening to Red but all the sudden I'm not. And the changes to the vault tracks we had demos for on Fearless drove me nuts too because I'm just so used to them. That's When for instance, that very bad little songwriter's demo means a great deal to me and when I think of That's When I hear the plucky little strums and unpolished singing. The album version is a whole song!

Likewise, when I think of Better Man, I think of the Little Big Town production but also the melody. The fact that she sang that melody when she did the song live AND it sounds more like how she wrote back then tells me the note changes were current and like "But your JEAlousy Icanhear it now You're talking DOWn to me likei'llalways be around You push my Love AwAY like it's Some kind of loaded gUUUn, boy You Never Thought I'd Run." is special to me and it means more in present tense and it flows better in present tense and the emotion works better in present tense and with the melody of Little Big Town/what I'm assuming is Taylor's demo.

I think you're so right about the deluxe tracks because the first taylor album I listened to was fearless tv, and because it's not separated into standard and deluxe or anything, they all played together. I assumed that she might have changed up the tracklist a bit (obviously she didn't) but as a result i literally couldn't tell which ones were deluxe tracks.

For her other albums i went into it with a little bit more info, but i couldn't agree more! Her deluxe tracks as a rule are incredibly solid, and on par with standard edition tracks, if not sometimes better!

A newer swiftie, welcome!! Fearless TV (and Fearless in general) is interesting because the deluxe tracks came later and there were more of them compared to her other albums. I didn’t realize there were deluxe tracks for her albums beside 1989 until I joined the online community and I was shocked because they were all so good!! The vault tracks are even more intriguing since they’re like bonus bonus tracks and it’s crazy to think that they didn’t make the initial cut to be either standard or deluxe because they’re also so damn good!

Dad!Druig x Reader

Summary: Druig has a nightmare and his daughter asks him the important question: "What are you afraid of?"

A/N: more dad!Druig that no one asked for but I live for Druig as a girl dad sooooo :') poorly edited at 4am. also, this gif screams soft!druig and I'm not mad it.

"I should have done this five centuries ago," Ikaris admitted gruffly as he aggressively grabbed Druig by the throat, the pads of his fingertips digging into his soft skin. As they flew up into the air, Druig clawed at Ikaris' forearm desperately; broken gasps of air escape his lips as he struggled to breathe from the tight grasp Ikaris had on him.

Ikaris came to an abrupt stop high in the air, his stone-cold eyes staring into Druig's bloodshot ones. He was going pale in color, and it only made Ikaris choke him harder like some sick satisfaction.

"I-I," Druig managed to choke out, "I have a daughter Ikaris. Please let me go." The taller Eternal's jaw clenched tighter as Druig pleaded with him. Out of all the things Druig did, he never begged.

"I don't care," Ikaris responded coldly before blasting him into the rocks below.

Druig woke up in an ice-cold sweat, gasping for air as his eyes opened wide. He was alive and safe. He blinked rapidly to allow his eyes to adjust to the darkness. He reminded himself that he was in Ajak's house, and they won. Druig's shakey fingers touch his sweat-covered neck; the pain of the many oval-shaped bruises gave him a grim reminder of their victory.

Turning over, he looked at you, hyper-focusing his gaze on your side until he saw your chest rise and fall slowly. He sighed in relief that you were alive. He allows his forehead to connect with your bruised shoulder blade gently, pressing a soft kiss to the black and blue spot. His little family was safe. Orla. His head snaps up, damp strands of dark brown hair tickling his forehead.

Propping himself up on his elbows, the Eternal looked over the bed and saw the empty cot in the corner, Orla's pink stuffed bunny discarded carelessly on the floor along with the blanket. His blood ran cold, the sinking feeling in his stomach made him sick. His jaw clenched so tightly it hurt.

Druig practically jumped out of the bed, not realizing he was holding his breath as he swung the creaky door open. His breathing was jagged, just as scattered as his mind.

He checked out back first since it was the closest to their bedroom; the cold night air connecting with the sweat on his skin made him shiver. The singular light of the porch illuminated barely anything, but she wasn't out here. Walking back in, his footsteps created loud thuds he knew would wake Makkari if he kept going. He checked every open door near the back of the house checking for the girl and doing his best to remain quiet for the other Eternals sake. "Fuck," he growled under his breath.

There was a soft blue glow at the end of the hallway that lead into the kitchen. Cocking his head, Druig followed it. And there the girl sat on the couch, her hand stuck in a bag of chips as she watched cartoons. There was nothing more relieving as when he saw her with her eyes glued to the tv. Druig let out the shakey breath he didn't realize he was holding.

Orla turned her head when she heard him exhale. Gasping, she took her hand out of the chip bag and stuffed the loud bag behind the throw pillow behind her. "Daddy, you look like you saw a ghost," she whispered with raised eyebrows, looking at his paler than normal skin. Druig smiled in relief and started to walk over to the couch.

"I was just a little scared when I didn't see you in your bed," he responds warmly, plopping down beside her and making her bounce on the cushion from the impact. The 6-year-old giggles and nuzzles up to his side, her cerulean eyes never leaving the tv. Druig's arm wraps around her, rubbing her arm lovingly with his thumb.

After a moment she spoke; "Kingo said you never ever, ever get scared. I think he said you were fearless." Her eyebrows furrowed a little as she tried to remember the big word he used earlier that day.

Druig scoffed lightly and looked down at Orla, her matching colored eyes looking back at him, "Everybody gets scared, m'darlin," he explained to her. Orla puffed out her rosy cheeks and climbed into his lap, her small fingers finding and touching the little bruises that littered his throat. The gold chain around his neck glimmers in the TV light, her hands gently drag it out of the inside of his shirt and start to play with his gold wedding band that was looped through the chain.

"What are you scared of?" She asked innocently. Druig let out a drawn-out sigh and bit the inside of his cheek.

"Well," he murmured as he tried to collect his thoughts, "Erm... let's see: I'm afraid of your mom getting hurt, I'm afraid of people fighting and I can't help them," he lists, watching her fiddle with his ring. "And...I'm afraid of losing you," he boops her nose with his finger as he finishes his sentence.

Orla giggles and wrinkles her nose, "But I'm right here, Daddy," she said with a pout. Her innocence made him smile softly, pushing back her brown bangs and bending down to kiss her forehead.

"I know," he said happily, followed by a sleepy yawn. "What are you scared of?" he returns the question, it was only fair and besides he already knew it was the dr-

"Drain. I'm afraid of the bathtub drain. It's too loud and I might get sucked down in it," she tells him, grimacing at the thought. Druig fights back the chuckle and simply hums in amusement.

"Well I promise no drain can stop an Eternal," he reassures her with a boyish smile. Orla grins back at the mention of the title. She never understood what being an Eternal meant, she just knew her parents had cool powers. Maybe one day she would too.

"Do you really promise?" she asked determinedly, tilting her chin upward. Druig matched her action and stuck his nose in the air, eyes looking down at her.

"I promise, promise," he yawns. "It's time to go back to bed," he groaned sleepily. Orla slides off his lap and back to her spot at his side.

She pursed her pink lips, "Can I finish my show... it's almost over?" she asks with a small whine in her light voice, widening her eyes cutely.

Druig stood up and reached behind the blue pillow, snatching the potato chip bag she hid from him. "Fine, just don't tell your mom."

yes ok. welcome back! did i make you dizzy? jeepers my eyes do hurt, just after putting together this update! but i come bearing gifts…! frankincense, myrrh, gold, and a *plump* 2021 eye theory update for the remaining bakers dozen or so of us left hanging in this manger… because apparently that’s just the way things will be 😘 again, i’m far past proving this thing and more into sharing, yeah, sharing the fun memories over the past year living with this theory so that’s what i’ll do. and this requires more than the ten picture limit so in lieu of that i will be updating only once but with links to each finding. my demarcation is the same as last year:

2021 year in review

JANUARY

★ kimby posting the eye mirror thing at the beginning of the year (which i posted about at the end of the last update)

★karlie liked a tweet (a rarity at the time) from henry hall promoting his new album… that had an eye and the number 13 on the album cover.

-we found another great photo match example

☆ we noticed something up with a new carolina herrera ad that ended up showing up again later in the year

☆ we noticed taylor covering her eye during rep tour while singing even in my worst lies you saw the truth in me

-we noticed an oft forgotten appearance of the evil eye ring in the rep promo material, photos of her on the beach

FEBRUARY

☆ we found a potential easter egg in the end game mv

★ one of the lyric videos for fearless TV had a fun synching moment ..that taylor then put in her instagram stories

★ taylor posted a bleachella era pic of her and the haim sisters that had the sisters covering eyes with their hoodies, and then honest to god this is just one of those thing i can’t quite conscionably explain but there are two boxes of pizzas being held and the cheese only pizza looks like the “blank” of the two pizzas and it’s to the right of the picture

★ kayda and kai did some eye funny business

MARCH

★ the grammys… so, taylor’s performance included choreography that covers her right side eye along with the line “guess i should have known from the look on your face” and i know this is one of the things people particularly do not like but i’m such a sucker for prop comedy: i think the shape of the lean-to cabin itself is the shape of an eye and also the belted waist part of her dress looks like an eye, i said what i said

-and this can’t help but feel like chance, but, we got this red carpet press photo of her grammy covering her eye

-something also feeling serendipitous, karlie got papped by some eye graffiti

APRIL

-The Vault reveal left me wanting to get my eyes checked 😂

☆ we realized one could make the argument that there’s a eye isolated by the mask on her male counterpart in willow, and that the mask has a drooping daisy embroidered on it

-i got the chance to talk a little bit more about my thoughts on the editing that went on with the mert and marcus rep photoshoot photos, and my thoughts on computer graphic manipulation as it relates to other things, in particular lead time

★ taylor seemed to have more fun with synching up the fearless tv clip to music 🙈

★ taylor’s mother’s day merch included a postcard with a daisy and the lyric “i love you for giving me your eyes”

MAY

-not for nothing, austin posted a picture of him at the Oculus building in NYC (oculus being a word that means eye, austin being someone who rarely updates his instagram these days)

★ karlie got back in the saddle with posting an eye out of frame

★ some preview photos of karlie’s green adidas collection were released, and they included this amazing shot

and wouldnt ya know it she made it her profile pic after the collection release

JUNE

★ more kayda funny business (i feel like there were a lot more of these but i wasn’t able to keep track)

★ karlie got papped wearing a prada jacket with a print of a one eyed beach babe

-taylor mixed up her words during a thank you speech while accepting an award and said “she helped me to edit my eyes” which i mean i don’t think it was intentional but it certainly made my year 🙈

★ karlie wore this versace blazer that inexplicably has a hole cut out of it to the right?? which was made even more meaningful given the fact that i had been spiraling over the tie with the hole in it in the lwymmd video a few months prior idk 😆

★ the how long do you think it’s gonna last album was announced with an… eye collage… 🙈🙈 and kept the promo coming into july with eye cutout moments like this

JULY

★ then the Renegade music video was released and it was just chock a block with eye manipulation! singled out eyes, taylor covering her right side eye with her hands, with her hair, the eyes on her face cut out and zoomed in on. like, i’m sorry, it’s 2021 and we are really doing this ladies???

-and i came up with a funny (/emotional)

-karlie met with schiaparelli in paris, who had just come out with a collection full of gilded eyes among other body parts

★ karlie blocked an eye for estée lauder —a true pastime— and thus began the formalization of the tradition of me waking up to karlie having posted something ocular to instagram

AUGUST

☆ adam rippon posted a little ode to karlie’s “looking camp right in the eye 👁 ” moment, which normally id just chalk up to it having become a meme but at the same time, bobby berk liked the post and they were both in the yntcd mv, so it’s sorta amusing

★ karlie posts “filed under baking inspo” moodboard which included a pic of a face made of food with one eye 🥴🥴🥴 like i’m sorry, is this not proof of acknowledgement 😆

★ karlie posts a photoset of her in workout clothes and she’s covering the left side eye in a lot of the pics

★ karlie wore some eye-like rain and sunshine earrings from two jewelers that also make custom lover’s eye jewelry

SEPTEMBER

★ taylor covered an eye on the tiktok

-i noticed that each of karlie’s adidas collections had their own moments

-also like this is simply an act of god but somehow taylor and karlie got a photo taken at the 2014 met gala where karlie is standing to the right next to a woman with an eye purse…?

☆we noticed two things about the UPS commercial she did during rep era

★ karlie hid an eye while getting ready for the met gala which was the start to a crazy crazy day here on kaylor tumblr

☆ someone kindly pointed out to me that birch feat. taylor swift just as names of trees goes is also sus 🥴

-we listed up some of the possibly eye theory -aligned taymoji

★ karlie posted a promo clip of her designing her met dress at carolina herrera and it had an eye moment

-taylor has sort of established winks as a Taylor’s Version easter egg gesture so i don’t really count things like this in the grand scheme of things but i can’t help but feel this wink was exaggerated in post which would mean the eye could have been edited, and for that i’ll mention it

-this is just an it’s a small world moment having to do with researching the band of outsiders brand

★ taylor using an eye covered pic of shania twain on her tiktok

★ karlie blocking eyes again in a photoshoot make that two

OCTOBER

✦★✶ karlie went to mert alas’ gin release party in paris I REPEAT she went to the party being held by the guy who took the rep album photoshoot photos aka the guy who took the actual eye theory photo and not only did she get a pic with him, she drank out of the gin glasses that had an eye like pattern cut into them???

★ karlie woke me up again and chose violence

-i forget how i ran into this but it’s this old photoshoot of karlie in a daisy full body suit with her arms and head in the shape of an eye idk lol

★ karlie posted a photoset with some eye blocking moments going on

NOVEMBER

-in a moment of meta, karlie got the chance to post a pic of bert and ernie to her instagram stories as she was also a part of the WSJ innovators issue

☆ taylor’s grammy dresses went on display and the waist fabric looked even more like an eye so sue me!

★ karlie really made it christmas morning every morning 🥴

★ RED TV lyric videos also got a moment

★ the IBYTAM video had us all reeling for plenty of reasons but i made sure to have my fun …kinda cool how it fits though 😂 this stood out to a lot of us and this too

-it’s the little things

-blame it on the vault crest and red dresses but i allowed myself to lean in to the crazy a bit more than usual and tbh i had the best time with it

☆ i had a thought about So It Goes as it relates to rep tour

-The Missing Eye Puzzle Piece it turned out that the missing capital one red bundle puzzle piece was simply missing, and it has been found, **but** i had an amazing couple of weeks imagining the ARG possibilities. oh and i still love that the right side eye is the 11th puzzle piece across, 8 rows down (karlie numbers)

DECEMBER

★ karlie posted again blockin an eye 😂

★ shes so good at finding an opportunity

★ karlie wearing a sweatshirt with an eye on it because why not i guess 🙈

-surely coincidental but i did laugh at where her music choice in this post led me

★ and it turned out the eye glassware at the mert alas gin release party ended up being used in the promo photos for the stuff

★karlie did a ‘comeback’ -esque spread for WSJ and she delivered

-add this to the list of potential cross-media tie in opportunities that surely weren’t intentional but i would point to in terms of what she could potentially do should she want to bring back this level of easter egging for reputation TV

★ waking up again to some uncanny carolina herrera hijinks

★ karlie blocking an eye again 🙈

-i talked a little bit about the evil eye ring making it’s appearances with the angel wing ring

★ like i said, this karlie post waiting for me when i woke up thing, it became a morning ritual

-there was a red tv album print mishap… istg the way i moved (is this what the kids say)

so there you have it, folks! 2021, a kaylor year that had me throwing my hands up and deciding to bend with the wind and roll with the punches… paid dividends?! i included the ephemera (the winks and out of frames) just because i see them as a sustainable avenue for the dreary new parent, but all these aside it still blows my mind how many distinctly significant things happened in conjunction with the theory this year and i hope very very deeply and earnestly that each and every one of you may have had the chance to crack a smile or two as well 😌

its weird… seeing karlie and mert photographed gave me this lavish sense of… coming full circle! but 🥰 who knows what next year will bring. what can i say, as if it was my greco-roman destiny, i know i will always beat the drum for this theory if they will have me. eye can’t help myself!
