the real problem with modern persona games is that if you fall in love with a social link character who’s not a party member or otherwise someone who doesn’t appear in the plot a lot you can literally only see them again through romance events and for most of the characters I feel this way about I can never ever romance, either because they’re guys and persona hates when you want to be gay or because they feel like family

ROUND 2 WILL COME ON DECEMBER 26TH!

Of course, why give a round date if you don't know who's competing?

The winners of Round 1 of the Best Social Link Tournament were, as stated previously

But they can't just go up against each other, no! Our second round introduces four new contestants!

Our eternally depressed sacrificial student Naoki will be going up against a returning winner, the Strength Social Link's Kou Ichijo!

A Family Feud for the ages, our darling little sister Nanako is going up against her own father, the Hierophant Social Link's Ryotaro Dojima!

Yosuke's next opponent is the brass baby herself, the Sun Social Link's Ayane Matsunaga!

And finally, the battle for the ages, the Beauty vs The Beast! Kanji Tatsumi has to go up against his number one pairing on AO3, The Wheel of Fortune's Naoto Shirogane!

Of course, the Best social Links aren't the only ones we're looking at on this page, no no no! The bottom of the barrel has some interesting faces in it!

The only Party Member Social Link in the blog's history (of two months) to ever go past their first round of being the Worst, Yukiko Amagi is not doing so hot right now! Let's see how she does against her next opponent, the Tower Social Link's Shu Nakajima!

Next up, Yumi needs a bit of a break. How about we throw her a bone? Her next opponent is the Moon Social Link's Ai Ebihara!

The animal companion Fox is going up against the Devil's own Sayoko Uehara! No real introduction for this one, unfortunately. Not much to say here because I'm pleased to announce a new pair to go off against each other!

In the first spot, we have the Velvet Room's Empress, Margaret! And her opponent, Hisano Kuroda of the Death Arcana!

Like it isn’t EVERYONE’s guilty secret.

So while everyone is playing Persona 5 like the PS3/4 owning chumps they are, I am stuck replaying P4 and P3.

It’s actually interesting, I played Persona 4 before I played Persona 3, as at the time of purchase I only had enough for Persona 4 (thanks to Play Asia, because fucking Australia, man, no games ever!), so for years I just never had the chance to play P3FES.

So when I started replaying P4 in the last few weeks, I started recognising certain characters popping up during the class field trip.

Particularly this guy, and seriously, fuck him! FUCK THIS TEACHER!

Side Rant: Actually, listening to the Wizard and the Bruiser podcast on Persona (and its history... seriously, go and fucking listen!!) I can understand why they put this fucking putz in the game. Because they believed in the same fucking shit this putz does. So of course they’d have him as a teacher in a game series and treat him like he teaches a legitimate fucking course. Ugh.

Fucking Atlus is filled with weirdos.

Since my PS2 finally died, I have been cranking these games out on PCSX2, which my recently upgraded PC can handle pretty fucking sweetly.

So here is a hint for those of you who don’t know how to get the most out of PCSX2, the big thing you have to do is increase the internal resolution of the game under the graphics plug in. You’ll turn this:

Definitely makes a lot of older PS2 games play much fucking prettier.

Anyways, back to Persona 4.

Seriously, why was Yu/Kanji not a canon possibility!?

The romance options are always difficult, my first waifu in this game was Rise, because I disliked Yukiko (fucking heresy, according to the Persona fandom), was meh on Chie, and the other options at the time were Ai (fuuuuuuck no) and what ever the drama club bitch was.

Oh, and Naoto, but if I can’t have Kanji, then Naoto must, at least in my mind.

This may have something to do with my fetishizing Kanji with male-appearing characters. I don’t deny it, not one bit!

So Naoto was off the table, until she came to terms with how much she wants Kanji’s man-meat all up inside her.

So this time, I decided to romance the ONE character I hadn’t seen in the last play through, which was the bandgeek.

Ayane Matsunaga did not turn out to be that interesting. She was dull. Dull fucking dull dull dull.

I am certain that they mentioned she just had her birthday to get her over some kind of legal-age-of-consent hangup for the game, because it is implied they get their bone on.

But seriously, she has to be one of the dullest fucking characters ever.

I plan on doing a New Game+ after this one, to see what the differences are, so maybe next time I’ll choose to romance... I don’t know, Yosuke, because he seems like he’d be into dudes.

Oh you will be so safe with me.

No, seriously, I think I dislike Yosuke about as much as Edogawa.

I think the next play through will pretty much be who annoys me the least. Possibly Chie next, or maybe *ugh* Yukiko. But fuck those side characters, seriously.

Also, I have never actually seen the true ending of Persona 4, I was so fucking enraged at the game for killing of poor Nanako (oh, wait, spoilers for a fucking PS2 game from 2008) that I went for what turns out to be the bad ending.

I’ve since found out that apparently she is only temporarily dead (or permanent if you choose the bad ending) and I have since found out who the real villain of P4 is, so I’ve kind of had it all spoiled for me, sadly.

But seriously— temporarily dead. I shouldn’t be surprised, this is a Atlus game.

Also, playing this game through a second time, knowing that Nanako is going to die, I should have seen it coming the whole way through. She had Dead Little Sister warning signs all over her.

Is it any wonder I turned to the cynical ending of just throwing the fucker in the TV?

So yeah, this time I am not going to fuck up. I’m going to save Nanako, and maybe... wait, that’s it. Nanako does say she wants to marry me. New game plus, I am saving myself for siscon.
