Master list

There are not many things I’m sure of in this lifetime, but what I do know is, most nights I’m awoken by the sound of music from the credits of the movie we put on hours ago. I’ll get up to turn off the tv and land right back into your arms.

Tonight is different, though. You’re dreaming away, one arm extended out because you’re expecting me to be there, and why wouldn’t you? So I settle into the right side of the bed and my heart can’t fathom how you are the same man I fell in love with all those years ago- you’ve grown into your looks and your legs far extend the edge of the mattress.

For all the juvenile love letters I’ve written to you, and the hearts I scribbled with your initials + mine . Even after all the mornings I’ve woken up next to you, it still hasn’t sunk in that I get to love you.

I get to look into your eyes and discover the newest universe all from the comfort of your twin-sized bed. I have the privilege of leaning into you and I’ve never wanted space less than when you hold me. I feel so at peace with you, yet you are the same man I want to shake up the world with. I’ve learned to brace myself for how cold your feet get no matter what the weather is, and I know when to tug on the blanket when you have just a little bit more than me. For all the moments you’ve babbled in your sleep, and the times I’ve woken up in the middle of night to turn off the movie that plays in the background of our dreams, I am in your space and I will always welcome you in mine.
