ㅤㅤ JESPER LIKES TO think of himself as a good multitasker. maybe it doesn't apply to their everyday, but they've been in enough fights that they've learned how to juggle dealing with several men. and when you have to be picky about your bullet placement - well, you learn to keep tabs at people at all times, even if the people in question are trying to shove a blade up in the gap between one rib and the next.

ㅤㅤ but it does happen to be quite a lot to keep track of.

ㅤㅤ jesper's brain is buzzing. it might be his heart. it might be the noise of bodies, it might be the cries of the people around him. he's having fun. he's having fun, even when she feels blood in her mouth.

ㅤㅤ he hears someone shout from up above. bird call, mainly. it's a leave. get out as fast as you can. it means trouble. jesper grins around the blood on her teeth, about to turn and disappear into the shadows as if he's a wraith -

ㅤㅤ someone punches him hard enough that jesper feels the world spin. it's a fiery shot right to the nose, and she feels the hot flood of pain and blood across her face. jesper stumbles back, blinking a few times to try and right herself. a hand flashes in her vision from one of the upper platforms, and jesper trusts her gut: she grabs it.

ㅤㅤtheir grip is strong, which is exactly what allows them to yank jesper fully up to the higher level where she can see familiar faces. a hand scrabbles at her back, trying to pull her down, but after a moment - she hears the sickening crunch of fist to bone.

ㅤㅤ " on helping terms with one another now, are we? " jesper says around a bloodied nose once she catches sight of her companion's face. hook looks like he's considering going back into the bloody fray. " good timing, at least. "
