We are back with character dynamics my beloved. Last time I asked about dynamics that are going to form but haven't been yet, this time it's character dynamics that have already existed.
(Keep in mind that if you don't want to or don't think you can you do not need to cover all of these dynamics)
(Also, I do not mean any of these dynamics as a group just for clarification)
What sort of dynamic do you interpret Dante to have with Lady, Trish, Patty and Morrison?
How do you interpret Lady's dynamic with Trish, Patty, Nico, and Morrison?
How do you interpret Trish's dynamic with Patty and Morrison?
How do you interpret Patty and Morrison's dynamic?
How do you interpret Nero's dynamic with Kyrie and Nico?
How do you interpret Kyrie and Nico's dynamic with each other?
What of these dynamics is your favorite?
Hi, dear DMC Questions Anon!)))) Thanks for another fun ask, here goes!
Dante - Lady
I have been vocal about my distaste for Lady's character not evolving past her first appearance as a fetishized schoolgirl with a rocket launcher. This is purely Capcom's fault, and I am upset about it. For me, it is hard to go off Too Wildly away from canon, and in canon there is very little for Lady, and practically nothing for me to grab onto or like about her. Mostly I feel sorry she's been dealt such a hand.
I can't imagine her and Dante having relationship closer than 'colleagues forced to work together in a very small field'. Canonically Lady only appears to harass Dante about money, and I wish I could say more about her, but sadly I can't. At best they are colleagues or Maybe drinking buddies.
Dante - Trish
Her situation is similar to Lady's, at least Trish is not forced into the 'teen angst' In Her Forties. Trish rarely hangs around Dante, but when she does, her presense isn't overwhelmingly negative as Lady's. It seems like Trish tries, in her own way, to check up on Dante, and that's very good, he could certainly use more of that (even if he would disagree). The times she tags along she is helpful and provides any demonic background she can, which is very useful. Trish is just as fetishized, and it's twice as horrible considering that she was made to look like Eva. Also I really need canon to give her ANY Valid Reason for why she didn't change her appearence, when she clearly had the ability to do so in dmc4. Literally Any Valid Reason. Like, if I had been artificially made so my look would specifically traumatise a selected person I would want to change it immedeately both to stop hurting a friend and to establish my own newfound identity better, please give her any actually canonic reason why Trish hadn't
Dante - Patty
I think this one wouldn't be a surprise to anyone) Patty is the best DMC girl, because her presense has been nothing but positive for Dante. He was at his lowest at the moment of their meeting, and while Patty can be annoying, she was always thankful to Dante for protecting her the way he did. How couldn't he, their childhood backgrounds are way too similar, I believe protecting her was, in a way, healing for him. She also did her best to get him to go out, continuously tried to improve his living conditions with her cleaning, and just tried to spend time with him. Because he was at his lowest, Dante did snap at her a couple of times and was annoyed by her antics, still he end of the anime he hugs her back. That's literally the only hug for Dante in DMC I know of he needs so much more of them as well as more positive touch. At the very least, they are people who have been brought together by not the best consequences, but whose presense in each other`s company was positive, and seeing as this is the foundation of their relationship, I think it continued to be good for them off-screen too. It's unknown how common were their meetings, but I can easily imagine Patty trying to visit Dante on occasion, or to sneak in to clean the office if Dante went out on a job. I believe Dante some years after, recognised how much Patty helped him to get through those times and appreciates that in her.
Also @whitebeakedraven has helpfully pointed out that DMC2 canonically happens after the anime so... after Patty left, however brief her comfort was, Dante's state deteriorated vastly after her leave. So much so he willingly threw himself into Hell... so their connection was built on a Very rocky start, but that's also what made it special I think.
My Fanon and very self-indulging opinion of them can be summarised as forcefully-adopted-father-figure. The way Dante kept Patty's eyes closed when fighting demons was extremely adorable and very sweet of him, and reassuring her about lack of parents was... uncharacteristically honest for him. Another headcanon of mine is that both of them recognise this bond they share, but actively avoid of naming, Dante especially. I believe he would be afraid of the family curse/hunt going after her as well, and afraid of willingly taking on such responsibility more like he wouldn't recognise his self-worth as enough to willingly become a father figure for anyone, and his mental health struggles do not help the situation), so everything unsaid would be aggravating and damaging for both of them in the years between the anime and post-Hell return. In my opinion, this could end with Vergil's help, after he patches up his relationship with Nero, and would notice his brothers' struggle, as he can read Dante like no one else.
Aside from the Sparda Family Drama, Dante and Patty is my fav relationship in this fandom)

Dante - Morrison
Very good working relationship. Morrison strikes me as a human that is very much aware of the dangers this line of field hold for regular humans, so he himself stays the hell away from it, and mostly workes in connections or helps with logistics (...like the helicopter from the beginning of the dmc5). Morrison does quite the number of times his goodwill towards Dante, also I am fairly certain he sent Patty Dante's way For A Reason. Morrison is smart, but I don't think even he realised exactly how close this call was to Dante's own past.
Dante very much recognises that Morrison does these things for him and I am sure he is very grateful for them, but it probably comes off only in cash numbers. Can't imagine Dante acknowledging his gratitude out loud.
Also Morrison probably won't start poking into Dante's issues even with a 20 meter long pole (however I do believe Patty was thrust under Dante's wing for a reason). Morrison is Very Much aware he is working close with an actual Hazard that is Dante, in all the possible terms of the word. Yes Morrison is friendly towards him and does favors for Dante, but he is also aware that if this man finally looses it shit will go down and fast. The closest comparrison I can think of is work in an experimental lab with dangerous chemichals all around - Morrison knows that safety comes first and foremost, doubly so for normal humans. So yeah, part of his interest in Dante is keeping lose tabs on him.
Lady - Trish
uhhh it's hard for me to write about any of them individually, even more so about them together.... I say colleagues. They might bond, maybe even work together a couple of times but can't say anything else. These two are very 'lone wolf' kind of women, at least from what I've seen.
Lady - Patty
Wine aunt. That's it that's their relationship. I think Lady adores Patty and is one of the victims wrapped around her little finger. Lady would love taking Patty on motorcycle rides, or teaching her shooting for self-defense. I can easily imagine them just chilling on a weekend together.
Lady - Nico
I can easily see Lady and Nico getting along, especially with Nico's mad scientist experiments and Lady's love for weapons of mass destruction. They will probably strike some sort of arm deals with each other, as Lady has to have collected some gun contacts over the years and Nico could get her hands on some new material for inspiration. Very good colleagues.
Lady - Morrison
I'd imagine Lady is not as dependent or morrison as Dante is, and she would like to act like broker too, but she and Morrison work together fine. I think he is one of the only people who doesn't let her shark off the money that easily. Good colleagues.
Trish - Patty
Vine Aunt #2. Trish and Patty could hang out for shopping together, as I think they both like their fashion.
Trish - Morrison
Good colleagues. I think Trish is the least Morrison-dependant of them all. She will take contracts from him, but she can also work for Lady or even on her own a lot of the time, as she can find the demons more easily. I believe she likes her investigation work more than the extermination, so she actually does more preventative measures then crisis management like the others (or crisis multiplier like Dante).
Patty - Morrison
An adopted distant relative. I can see Patty keeping in contact with Morrison over they years, but he mostly does it for his own sake (also probably because he took notice that she is important to Dante but not as capable as others close to him, so he keeps tabs on her for Dante's sake). I don't think they meet outside random encounters in the agency, or Patty getting a ride from him. He is genuinly fond of her though.
Nero - Kyrie
The Ship is here!!!! They are adorable) This entire series has one (two if we count Sprda&Eva) healthy relationships and this is only good on-screen example.
Partially this is hard to write about because Kyrie is a woman, and DMC is not very kind to ladies! Not at all! I'd like to say it here and now - 'Saint' vision of Kyrie is just Nero's head-over-heels POV in 4. My read on Kyrie is shaped by This Emptiness Is So Real fic by Night_Companion. She grew up in a religious-military organisation with a high-ranking brother, to be raised in such a household requires iron will, and I believe Kyrie uses it to make life easier for veterans of any conflict (Nero included). Violence stains a person, and Kyrie has the empathy and knowledge required to try to help them (this is why the twins are actually scared of her). Kyrie makes everything in her power to improve the lives of her close ones, so it's easy to see why she might come off as a saint for them.
I think she might have fallen for Nero for his bravery and willingness to help others, those are both traits they certainly share. They are The soft and sweet couple, but how about we make Kyrie a little weird. What if she actually likes metal just as much as Nero and they go to concerts together. I haven't known any metal enjoyers irl myself, but I have heard lots of stories that metalists are actually really chill and nice people to be around. Plus any rock/metal song can only be improved with the addition of choir or female lead.
I don't think they are engaged yet, but it is the matter of documentation really, I think in every way that matters these two are married, and everyone around them knows that.
For the children they foster, I see them only as 'summer camp counselors'. They take care of the kids, they like it, however everyone knows this is a temporary arrangement, and they just appreciate the company of each other in the moment. Sorry, but I can't imagine 20-somethings living a stable enough life and willingly choosing to adopt children at this age (which are like only ten years younger at best). I can imagine Nero&Kyrie adopting children in the future, but not as of current events.
Nero - Nico
Siblings. Nico is the perfect addition to DMC cast really, she is just all around great, and her bickering with Nero is hilarious. Nero intricately knows about valuing the found family he has, so I think Nico will pretty much move in with him and Kyrie. These two are actual siblings, and maybe progressing this relationship will help Nero better understand the twins.
Kyrie - Nico
Nico is a little hard for me, as I can only imagine her on the hunt with Nero, or working on her passion projects. They have a great relationship for sure, but I can't exactly pin anything concrete down about them, sorry.
BONUS LUCIA
Dante clearly means a lot to her. I believe their adventure together affected her greatly and inspired her to be better. Also I am very certain she still harbors a crush on him (to be perfectly honest she is the only person I can ship Dante with, however the man is Troubled and has Issues he needs to work on first, so even if this ship is possible, it will be so far down the DMC timeline I can't even say anything about them, OR it's an AU situation going on. I think they could be good for each other, but can't really imagine it happening in canon). Her visiting the agency was a very sweet moment and I'm glad the canon featured her like that, though I would love for her to appear more.
Lucia - Lady and Morrison - good colleagues. Lucia seems to be located a bit further away from the other Hunters, so she probably haven't met Lady or Morrison on jobs, but I am sure they know of her and might even work together on expanding their connections.
Lucia - Trish - NOW THIS. This could be HUGE. Both of these badass ladies share the artificial demon background and have clearly went through their own struggles with trying to define their own person. I WISH we had at least some evidence as to how their meeting would go, but at the same time I can imagine these similarities making them want to be as far apart as possible. Since we have nothing in canon on them, I guess they fall under the second option, the potential here is big tho.
Lucia - Patty - Distant Vine Aunt #3. She would truly adore Patty, and the same works in reverse. Can't imagine them interacting too often, but whey they do I think it would be very nice and good for both of them and they'll cherish it till the next meeting.
Can't imagine Lucia interacting with the Fortuna branch as they are too far apart. She might be interested in Nico's services though, probably through Lady's bragging.
