lately i've just been unable to think about the prosecutor sibs without breaking down. like its just too much to think about. they were little babies together. they were little babies in their big house in munich. manfred von karma brought a little baby home. and was like. here is another little baby and she is my daughter. and then they were little babies, two of them, together. and they kicked each other under the dinner table. and fell asleep on each other on the couch. and brushed their teeth together in the morning and before bed. and snuck out to sit in the hedge maze and talk about bugs.

i don't know why i am suddenly heartsick at the mere concept of siblings. siblings are a thing. i am an adult human who has existed in the world for quite a while, i know of siblings. i have many of them myself. but for some reason it's just wildly sweet to me that miles edgeworth and franziska von karma get to be siblings. i watch them interact as stuffy, formal, ruthlessly professional adults in all their frills and businesswear, and i am unable to pay attention to anything they are saying. because they were little babies together. and franziska was 9 years old and fell asleep studying at the table, and miles carried her to her bed. and franziska was 18 years old and got shot, and miles carried her to a hospital bed.

obsessed with the themes of breaking cycles woven throughout the prosecutor siblings’ characters and what it means for both of them. like i’ve written 5456345 words on franziska and her father specifically but the thing i want to talk about today is the fucking first trial in 3-5 because the last time an edgeworth and a von karma stood opposing counsel it ended in fucking murder. it ended in a tragedy so deep that it affected every conceivable character in the whole trilogy. but in bridge it is this... collaboration. it is miles edgeworth calling in a favour from his sister who is more than delighted to rise to the challenge. it is the presiding judge trying to tone down franziska’s fire and miles immediately objecting to the idea, no, no, let my sister crack her whip during trial, that’s her stim toy, it’s important and it makes her feel powerful. it is them riffing at one another and working together to figure this shit out, AND to help their friend who is too sick to be there himself. and it’s miles living his childhood dream and getting a chance to see what his life would have been, perhaps, if all that bullshit hadn’t happened, but it is also him standing side by side with a person who he only has and loves and gets because it happened. the universe took a father and gave him a sister and as if to whisper I’m sorry the cosmos named his sister karma.

the thing is that miles was about to take a bullet for her. the thing is that he watched her get shot, fully believed this fucker would do it again, and literally tried to throw his body in front of the bullet. im fucking insane! im insane. he stays like this until shelly walks offstage and rotates in such a way that he is always in front of franziska. im going insane. stage play is making me insane. it did everything wrong except them.
